Oh I went for my medical yesterday wasnt to bad 3 hours in all ( but had to waite about 1 1/2 hours for the doc to arrive he was late )
they did X rays, blood test , checkd the vaccination booklet askd a million questions wich I answerd no, no no no ectr , lol ,
people where real friendly but had a lil fun with the x ray tech , lol
she seemd in a hurry ( but she was friendly and laughin ) so when she told me to go in the cabin to put the gown on , I wasnt even in there for a min just lowerd my purse on the seat and there she was , hello miss are you ready ? I was thinking hmm wow shes in a hurry I just got in here ,
so told her with a smile just a min plz, not even 20 sec later she was here again hello miss are you ready ? lol ,
i started to giggle to my self said hmmm lets have a lil fun , told her almost ready :star:
took me about 1-2 min to put the gown on , sat on the seat when she came back she was like hello mis am still waiting for you , lol , said sorry got trouble with the gown just a min plz

she came back miss am still waiting for you , lol I came out smiled told her sorry I make you work today had trouble with the gown , LOL ,
then she told me to lift my arms over my head for X rays , I did but well as you all know they always place the arms how they want anyhow ,( she was short bout 4.5, am 5,5 ) lol so when she tryed to reach up to place my arms she had lil trouble,
I leand towards her smiled askd her will that help ? she laughed said you realy make me work for my money today huh , lol
she got the x rays done all lookd fine ( in her eyes ) , will have to go get the resolts in about 2-3 days ,

Dear Fellow Montreal Consulate Visitors!

We're BAAACCCKKKKKKKK :D

Okay, here's our story......

Got up at 4 AM to drive from Ottawa to Montreal and beat the rush hour traffic (hah cussin hah!). NO time is non rush-hour time in Montreal. Okay, got there at 6:35 am, just in time to get crushed in the rush. By the way, coming into Montreal, every exit is on the RIGHT side EXCEPT the $*^#(%*3) one you NEED to take. So, took a nice tour of some local neighborhoods and woke up a few unsuspecting people with my cussing out the window of the Jeep. Got back on the right road. Cussed a few more folks and made it over to the left lane. Made it off THAT exit ramp. Shock absorbers replaced. (The roads?) in Montreal haven't been repaired since 1902, BUT, they are busy closing a lot of lanes making it LOOK like they are repairing them. Got Sharon to quit cowering in her seat by promising NOT to actually kill anyone, and shouted out MY window for a bit. (She says she'll still marry me even after seeing my worst, WOOHOO). Took the proper exits and turns, found the Consulate, and got a parking spot quickly in a paid parking area. Saw a bunch of folks sitting out in front of a building, and figured that was the embassy. Walked that way and found out it was a local university, turned arouond and saw the BIGGEST BLACK dild* of a building I've ever seen in my life. This was OBVIOUSLY the embassy. Woohoo. Walked up, looked in, and was suprised by the NICEST young guard who told us to come on in, take our clothes off and get comfy (not really, but Sharon thought he was cute). They were ALL extremely nice and polite, and helped us right on up to the 19 floor. We were there for about 15 seconds and they started telling people to go to window #9. At 7:30 no less! We had an 8:45 AM appointment, but they just started tellin us to go to this window and that window. Well, we waited a few minutes between windows, and then got called by the NICEST woman and she took all of our papers, sorted them for us, and was generally very cheerful for that time of morning. She mentioned we needed 2 copies of the K-156 which we had, and the letter just mentions ONE. Be aware of that! We then waited for the interview, which we were called to soon enough in room 7. Some young fellow all dressed up asked us a few questions, made us swear an oath (Not THAT kinda oath, which we've grown accustomed to swearing over the past year and a half). He looked everything over, then asked if Sharon had an RCMP report for ALL of her names. WOOPS! She had told the RCMP fella that she thought she better have that, but he told her that her current name would be just fine. NOPE! You HAVE to have a report for every name you've ever had, Maiden, previous married, etc. Our faces sunk. Well, he gave us some paperwork that told what to send in, and Then said just get it to them in the mail, and it would take from one to two weeks to get it processed and her Passport back to her. Not sure what that meant, but in reading the letter, it basically states that That's all they need to issue the Visa :) (Send it ATTN. to the IV ISSUANCE ) SO, while we are not 100% positive, It looks as though we are through and just awaiting the Visa in the mail. We sent the info out overnight next day Noon delivery as soon as we got back from Montreal (and only got lost 3 times leaving there, woohoo!) Note to ANYONE wishing to VISIT Montreal; LOOK for a date when everyone there has their car in the shop and won't be on the roads, cause you WON"T enjoy driving anywhere in that city! Oh, and get new tires and shocks, you will NEED THEM.

Love ya all!

Alan & Sharon

P.S. Goodluck to everyone going on the 8th!

WOW SO COOL sounds like the interview was a piece of cake , Congratulations ( YEAHHHHHHH 1 less on the waiting list , lol ) CONGRATSSSSSSS

Unfortunately, I don't get to be there when Réjean has his interview.

sapa_uscan, if you see a bald man with a big goatee, a septum (nose) piercing, and a labret (lip) piercing at the Consulate while you're there, that's Réjean! :)

I sure will keep an eye to identify fellow VJ'ers!!!

One quick question(s):

I received my Packet 4 from MTL yesterday, and there in amongst other requirements, there is one that says:

ALL DS-156 FORMS ARE REQUIRED IN AN ELECTRONICALLY COMPLETED FORMAT IN ENGLISH.
FORMS MAY BE DOWNLOADED AT : HTTP://EVISAFORMS.STATE.GOV
PRINT THE ENTIRE FORM INCLUDING THE BAR CODE IN DUPLICATE.

Q: There was a DS-156 form in my Packet 3 that I think it says that I need to sign this at the Interview day!
So, should I fill out that form (from my Packet-3) as well as an electronic version in duplicate ?

I am [slightly] confused?

first congrats and good luck stay calm stay cool , keep in mind theyr people like you and me
as for the DS 156 did you mail them the electronical done duplicate when you send package 3 ?
if not yeah you gota download it including the barcode ( scribble stuff last page ) and bring it with you again good luck go get your visa so we can be next in line :D Lona

Separate from the K1 application, I have also heard (maybe read on these forums) that if you have a DUI in the U.S. that it can be hard to get over the border into Canada. There was some post on here awhile back about a guy who had 2 DUIs 20 years ago and they just recently denied him entry into Canada, until he filed some sort of waiver or application. Not sure of the specifics, but you might want to check that out at some point.

yeah i heard about that as well ,
my friends fiance is from italy so i just hope they dont pan to travel to canada for vacation if they get aproved for the K1 ,but thanks everyone for the advice

QUOTE (muffin @ Jul 19 2008, 09:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I can't see how it would. The interview is about you and your paperwork, as well as demonstrating a continuing relationship and intent of marriage. There's no reason for the USCs DUI to affect the interview or anything else with regards to the K1 and likely AOS as well.

thats what I thought too ,
( by the way this isnt about me ,I already got my GC next step for me will be to remove condition next year )
I just hope we are right and my friend wont have any problems , ty
Lona.C.FemaleCanada2008-07-19 08:59:00
Canadai know i will get an answer here :)
I already posted that in AOS forum but probly no one knows the answer ,
so since i know lotsa people here i bet someone can help me and answer my question ,

morning everyone
am not sure where to post this , but if someone could answer me a question i apreciate it

ok my question is , if the USC and benefitionary are in process of K1 and waiting for the interview ,
( interview will be first week of aug )
will it have an impact on the process if the USC got caught drunk driving ( about a week ago )
and now lost his driver lisence
if it has no impact for the K1 will it have one when filling AOS ?

( my thinking is since its the USC it probly wont ,but I like to make sure so if someone knows the answer i apriciate it ty

CanadaUS Consulate Request: Proof of Canadian Citizenship
as carla said welcome to VJ
me neather I never heard of such a request ( unless you didnt include those documents in the aplication when you mailed it ,)
I also never heard that your able to fax a RFE ( request for aditional effidance ) but if your able to fax it cool smile.gif
my thinking is ,I would make a copy of the letter they send you , a copy of your canadien certificate card ,
a copy of your passport and a copy of your birth cert and send it all per fax ,
and also per certivied mail ( to make sure they realy get it ),
but thats just my advice good luck

CanadaA note on Victoria
we traveld to canada right after i got my GC without any problems ,
then in may we went to germany had a lay over in MTL yes we had to do a declaire thingy but they never askd about the K1 in my passport , just the oposite they congratulated us on the aproval I still got the K1 in my old passport
( got a new passport now ,I hated my old passport with my exes last name wacko.gif , made me feel like this is not me so I aplied for a new one with my now married name smile.gif )
Lona.C.FemaleCanada2008-07-31 07:05:00
CanadaI watched my friend get grilled at the border
I went trough the hassel of getting grilled almost every time for 1 1/2 years before we where finaly able to aply for the K1 ,
as many of you know am german citizen but was LPR in canada , so had to get a I 90 ( green ) every 3 month ,
yes they did ask a lot of questions as to the reason why I travel left and right ,
I told them the trueth and always showed enough effidance that i stayed longer in canada then in the US ,
( effidance like bills getting payed on time , credit card statments whith timeframe of purchases made from canada , bank statements ,)
and i also made sure they stamped my passport at every entry and exit from eather border when i left and enterd
as prove of amount time spend in the US
as long as your friend is totaly honest and tell the officer that they intend to aply for K1 in the future but for what ever reason are unable to aply right now ,
and show prove that she got ties in canada that require her to return ,there is a good chance she will not get denied , but she has to be honest
and has to make sure she gets a stamp in her passport on every entry or exit ,
( canada doesnt like to give stamps on entry if your canadien cit , but you have to insist and explain that you need it for prove of reentry since you like to aply for K1 in the future )
( I also had a notebook where i kept track on how many days I spend in US and showd it to the officer so he was able to compare dates on my bills as well as the passport stamps )
yes it was a hassel going trough the same stuff every 3 month for 1 1/2 years ,
but hey love goes a long way and we made it trought this bull and glad to say i would go trough the same bull all over again if i had too ,cose this proves how strong your love and relationship realy is ,we been together for 4 years now , and got our 1rst wedding aniv in dec and still happy like first day we met smile.gif
so tell your friend to be honest and show lots of prove of ties to canada , and request the entry and exit stamps

CanadaHow to apply for SSN before submit AOS?
QUOTE (Question @ Jul 30 2008, 06:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My wife is Canadian. She came to California and stayed with me as visitor (used Canadian passport to entry US). We did fill I-130 and got approval, and now it is in NVC waiting for interview in Canada, but we want to process the AOS instead in US. Can she apply for SSN right away? She needs SSN to apply DMV, insurance, medical, and etc. Please advise. Thank

to my understanding ( i could be wrong )
but your wife needs to show prove of legal residance here in the states to be able to aply for SSN ,
wich meens she would have to show the K1 or K3 or what ever visa she might have ,
but how i understand she doesnt have a visa and you guys are aplying for AOS ,
so in that case she will probly only able to aply for SSN once the AOS is aproved and she got her GC ,
( please someone correct me if I'm wrong on that )

However she did mention something about I should apply for/receive a "Tax Identification Number" and this would act like my SSN # until I get one. So it would allow me to apply for my driver's licence, etc and do most things that you need an SSN # for. Did any of you apply for this, is it necessary and should I apply fot a TIN?

Not necessary. There was talk about me applying for one before SSN but in the end it just made no sense. I called the IRS and asked and they said it's only for tax purposes. ie. you can't get a job as it acting like your SSN.

It may allow you to get your driver's license but in this state it doesn't so you may want to check. You are going to be in PA right?

Yes I'll be in PA... thanks for the info, so I don't need it then since I won't be filing taxes anytime soon!!

I see from your timeline that your not in the states yet , ( but congrats on your aproval )
from my experience it would be easier to file right away ( 2 weeks after entry in the states ) for SSN
probly depands on the states but in my case it would have been easier to file before marriage
I heard a lot who filed for SSN before marriage had no problem getting one within 2 weeks ,
if you like to file before marriage all you need is your valide I 90 and K1 ( of corse your passport too ,lol )
they will asign you a ssn with your maiden name , wich you can change easily after marriage once you have your GC
( had I knowen that at the time when I filled it would have saved a lot of headaches since my state gave me a run around saying K1 is for fiance not spouse and I had to go back 3 times before they submitted a homeland security check and aproved me the SSN after around 8 weeks waite )
but then again like I said it probly depands on the state your in, others here filled like me after marriage and didnt have the run around like I did
anyhow just wanted to give that advice so instead of goin for the TIN , maybe go for the ssn and be sure you can be added to medical , bank and all of your husbands important goodies
wish you good luck

Thank you smile.gif I am moving to the states on Nov. 15, very excited to do so! I appreciate the advice, I am going to apply for my SSN # very shortly after I arrive and I think that will work best!

I agrea it would be easier , but one more advice make sure your at least 10 days to weeks in the states ,
thats the time DHS requires to get your info in theyr safe system , if you go to early SSN office might not be able to see you in theyr system and have to request your status from DHS wich would take around 6 weeks for DHS to answer to ssn office

CanadaTax Identification Number?
I see from your timeline that your not in the states yet , ( but congrats on your aproval )
from my experience it would be easier to file right away ( 2 weeks after entry in the states ) for SSN
probly depands on the states but in my case it would have been easier to file before marriage

Woah I just read all this!

I am glad you found out what to do and I am sure Nick will find another good job really soon.

As other mentionned about the AOS I wouldn't bother calling them to change anything. You sent paperwork that was current at the time of filling and they will either

1- Approve you without bothering, and then file accordingly when you remove your conditions in 2 years.
2- Schedule an interview and then you can bring the updated affidavit with your new sponsorship from Nick's parents.

I just read this and sorry for what you guys are going trough , but glad to see you keep your heads up ,
cose like others here said it aint a biggy , they will only request new documents if the give you an interview
lots of people here didnt get an interview ( me included was easy I send all the documents they required never got an rfe went to biometrics , got transverd then poof aproved without interview )
my advice is do like others said have the updated documents ready incase they give you an interview , if not great
but I wouldnt worry about it like you said you guys got cash and a sponser , so no biggy wink.gif good luck and late happy b day to your husband smile.gif

I think they cashed they cheque but my bank isn't showing it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid!!!
aggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt worry about that , when they cashed my cheque we was able to see the numbers but couldnt put it in the account to check status , then resievd the 3 NOA"s wich had different numbers ( the first NOA last number was off by 3 the 2nd and 3rd NOA last number was off by 2 )
so probly the numbers on the cheque wont enter in the system ,you should get the NOA soon since they cashed the cheque then you will be able to check status ( unless USCIS wont enter the cases till after biometrics, lots of people where only able to see status after biometrics )

BEWARE checking status on line is very harmful side effects can cause sweat outbreaks nausea and uneasieness in the nervouse system ,if you experience any of those sympthoms please be adviced you are checking AOS status more then once a day , and try to limite your dayly AOS checking on line intake to once a day. overdose of AOSCHECKING is harmfull to your health
, (had to invent a lil BEWARE since it was to late for me and I experience the side effects of checking on line ) lol
