K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP:Affidavit and K1 visa
The instructions for the I-129F on the USCIS website and with the form itself are pretty clear on what you need to submit with the petition. You might want to check those 2 things out. Always check the source first! :)

It'll be great!
Make sure you clean out your purse, they go through all the pockets, bring quarters for the vending machines and if you have to use the bathroom there's enough time between handing in your forms/paying your fee 'til your interview. :)

:ot2: Please keep this section on topic of K1 related questions.

Not to burst your bubble(s) but your fille is *always* touched right after the NOA1, think of it as finally making it to the pile.

Do not rely on the 'now processing dates', they are notorious for being wrong, not updated, being wrong, not updated on time, being wrong, not updated. Did I mention wrong & not updated?

Good luck, and I hope you hear something soon.

10,000!

Goes to show there are way more people that file than suspected and it makes the waiting times a little more understandable, for me at least.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit Of Support???????
Please read the Guides up top in the blue tabs, also search for the following forms on the USCIS website. Also, check the Embassy blue tabs up above and Google for your Countries Embassy website, there might be info there. An I-134 is usually required for the interview (some Consulates require an I-864) and an I-864 is required for the AOS stage.

Eeek, it does look like that isn't a standard form for all.

I'm sure someone will help you shortly. It seems like you don't want them to know that your address has changed?, you might want to post a bit about that, whether it's your parents house or you have a reliable mailing address that you used on your petition and you don't want to mess things up.

The choice is yours and no one elses as to what you do or don't send.

I also suggest you try to not get too 'snarky' on here. Not everyone on this *advice for free* site has experience with your past and with the new requirements. If you're not sure, hire a lawyer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow did you meet your fiance?
ok, I admit, I was one of those people who had zero interest in chatting with long distance people! I had an ad online to meet LOCAL men to date, and I was getting pretty discouraged. Just as I was about to pull my ad, I got an email from someone who sounded so normal and nice and who spell-checked and everything! Before I knew what was happening, I was swept up by his assertive nature and had agreed to a date - it was only then that I found out he lived across the border. But it wasn't far, so.... once I got sucked in by his charms completely though, he up and moved to Southern California and it has been long distance ever since. Neither of us like it, and we've split up 3 times, but it just doesn't stick. My world is not ok without him.

So here we are!

I guess I am specifically wondering what people think about the 6 month gap in evidence.

Personally, I would rather not bring it into focus, but maybe it doesn't matter?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI want to keep it simple
I'm compiling. It takes longer than I thought!

I know there has been lots of debate on this topic... but.....

We've met countless times over the course of 4 years, but hard evidence is hard to come by - we never kept things.

I've got boarding passes, credit card receipts and hotel receipts from our visit last week. We have passport stamps, credit card slips, e-ticket confirmations and a photo from visits in Jan. and Dec. I can throw in copies of photos from 2002, 2003 and 2004.

I would think that is enough?

The next batch of proof I have would be for a visit in late march last year. And a copy of my frequent flyer statement that shows I had a one way ticket to his town in July. But that is it.

I would rather leave it at the three most recent and not start noting passport stamps for older visits. One, I don't want to inundate them with stuff when the last 3 meetings are proven. Two, we broke up in May last year and got back together in December! So I'd rather not call attention to the 6 month hole. There were calls and a July dinner in between, but still.

thoughts?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresrequest for evidence
The instructions on the I-129F only request "a" passport style photo.

When you get them taken though, you usually get two.
hockeygalFemaleCanada2006-03-14 14:18:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresflight itineraries....
Evidence is a tough one because, well, I for one do not keep itineraries or boarding passes once I've used them.

We traveled together last week, so I kept those boarding passes that show we flew in separately to one airport, and then had seats next to each other for the next leg of the trip. Other than that, it was itineraries showing proof of payment, and a couple of photos. When I was piecing it all together, I noted that Immigration had not stamped my passport on the past two trips I took, so I didn't even have that to offer. And one of his stamps had the wrong date! One day early. Guess the officer forgot to change his stamp.

Even my credit card statements only go back so far - I am a shredder! :D So I did my best to compile an overall believable picture of having met the past three times with a little of this and a little of that, but the boarding passes of the last trip will probably be the best I have to offer.

yeah, don't let comments like that get to you.

A lot of lidiots spend a great deal of time on the internet letting their anger out - they are socially inept losers who live on the fringes of society, and now the internet has given them the means to unleash their stupidity on the rest of us!

You know what you have with your fella, that is all that matters!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian Fiance Visiting the US While K1 in Process?? Can she do it or not????
so no one actually says the word "fiance"?

I haven't filed yet (it is always something, but hopefully this week!) but I have a terrible poker face. The last visit was easy because I met him to go skiing, and I had all my gear with me, so they didn't even ask if I was meeting anyone - it was obvious I was going skiing. But this time I am taking the bus across the border to the airport to catch a cheaper flight, and those road border guys have ALWAYS asked me million questions about marriage.

Last time they asked me "when are you getting married" we had no plans to do so, so I just said "you and my mother ask the same questions" and they laughed and I went through. But this time we actually ARE planning to get married, so I'd have to tell them. They scare me a little! THey are far more stringent than the airport guys who usually do a little flirting and let me through. Them, I like!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion 18 on I-129F
It didn't even occur to me to get into any kind of emotional detail.

I siad we met online on this date, met in person on this date, and dated exclusively since then. Then I listed the dates of visists I was submitting evidence for.

It hasn't been mailed yet I don't think. I can always email him another letter to stick in, if he hasn't sent it off today as planned...

eh, it may be fine. I am not sure what else I would say anyhow!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18 supplement
We called it a question 18 or 19 supplement and put itin letter form, listed the evidence attached.

We only listed the last 4 trips for which we were including evidence.

I'm assuming this is sufficient, but we only just filed, so I couldn't say for sure! If you have engagement details/evidence, I would certainly include them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG135 biographical question/please advise
The bio form (G325A) must be signed by your fiancee. You can't sign it onher behalf. Perhaps she can print it off at her end, sign it and send it to you. It would save you some time, as you would only have to mail it one way....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI mislabeled something.
I added a trip to my evidence pile, which bumped everything up a number. Only I forgot to change the associated number on the labeling of the passport stamps. So the trips and stamps don't matcfh. It is fairly simple to figure out what stamp goes with what trip, as the dates match, but someone has to bother to think about it.

Will they think about it or do I need to brace myself for a pointless RFE?

Do you realize I woke myself up with this realization? How insane have I become? Maybe I should just get a hobby for the next 80 - 110 days so I don't make myself crazy!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAny In Person Meetings Visa Hold-Ups?

I've heard though that if your declaration of meeting on your I-129F does not rule out an IMB, then you will undergo the checks.

yea, I am probably one of the unclear. I just said "online". Oh well, I will view all delays as more time to save money before I am unemployed for months and months!
hockeygalFemaleCanada2006-05-17 16:22:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAny In Person Meetings Visa Hold-Ups?

Dont think that this statement is right...? the USCIS does indeed care that you have met in-person if you are applying for K-1.
Isnt it true that we many of us have met our loved ones.. "on-line" That is not qulifiable for the meeting within 2 years requirement of applying for k-1.

they care that you have met in person in the past two years... they don't care if how you initially met was in person or online. (other than marriage broker that is)

It's meant to protect unsuspecting alien women from potentially dangerous US men who solicit them for marriage.

yes, that is what I thought. I guess I hoped there was a way to separate those claims, but I guess that isn't how it works!

Well, I am not against the law. I do wish they had prepared themselves for it a bit better though.
hockeygalFemaleCanada2006-05-26 16:27:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if we do this?
Do we know that they will be requesting criminal checkes on everyone, or just on the people who met through a broker?

This law may be holding things up for everyone right now, but ultimately, it is meant to deal with connections made through marriage brokers, isn't it?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI hope this will help everyone
But Nebraska's times have thus far been faster than California's. And wasn't someone else told by their lawyer that this was part of a restructuring, and the centers "specializing" in certain visas. I don't think we will ever know the real reason, frankly. But I will cling to the "speed things up by a month" part anyhow! :)
