Hi...thought I was done worrying but I need some advice! My husband had his interview at the embassy and was approved! The day was very exciting as we plan for him to join me....the problem is that one of his police clearances will expire the day before he arrives!! Will that be a problem at the POE or are we fine because he was approved?? Really hoping for some positive feedback!!

I dont know how to do that! On the page where it says to report to admin if embassy info needs to be added or changed the link take me to his private message!! But still nothing. Not a big deal now, but would be helpful for others!!

I don't think he has email active. You can always report it and any admin will relay the message.

Not to worry he will still go to interview and just everything will be on hold until he brings back his medical. No worries. But please tell him to go to the interview because delaying it could make you wait months. Just a slight delay.

Thanks dwheels76, he definitely will go to the interview and tomorrow is going back to the hospital to continue to try to resolve this! We just cant stand to have any delays at this point! We have been lucky because we are at about 11 months from the beginning of this process but it has taken a very harsh toll on my husband!! Last week being our one year anniversary we really need something positive to happen! I know God will see us thru, but I just needed to vent! I know there are things out of our control, but this situation just blew my mind!! I am praying it can be resolved, I am really hoping he will be here in the next few weeks so we can get on with our life!!

So I am soooooo disappointed right now!!!crying.gif My husband went for his medicals on Monday, they said he had to come back today to meet with the doctor, i assume to go over things but not really sure! When they were finished  my husband asked about taking his documents for his appointment on Monday, which they had told him was the process, and they said they were out of envelopes!!!!!!!ranting33va.gif  This makes no sense!! They are saying there is no way for him to have his medicals by Monday because of the lack of envelopes how is that even possible!!! There were other places he could have gone for his medical exam if he had known to ask if they would have the proper envelopes to transport his documents for his interview on Monday!!! Going crazy over here and running out of time!!!ClockWatch2.gif?

I sure hope so, but I would keep calling and contact your senator and congressman to check on your case for you to see why it is taking so long. It cant hurt, i promise you that!

I did not request an expidite but I did go to my local USCIS support center and asked about the process to get one. I also contacted my Senator to look into my case for me, to see what was taking so long. The response I received was that my case was in initial review, which I obviously already knew. So I thought contacting my senator was a waste of time, but maybe it helped move things along. If you haven't done that I strongly recommend it. Its a pretty simple process. At least in DE it was.

what did u discuss if u couldnt discuss your case status questions?

I asked questions about expedite and things relating to my case, but what I meant was she could not answer questions about how long the process would be exactly or where my case was in line of processing. She did say cases are taking about 6 months now and that ended up being absolutely true in my case.

Guys, I have asked for an expedite in my case. The reason that we mentioned is: As my wife is a nurse, so she has to deal with sick and injured people on daily basis. Waiting for such a long time has stressed her a lot and we want the case to be expedited under National Interest and an Emergency situation due to lives of Americans being affected and she cannot afford to have her attention taken by other stress. Lives will be affected due to unnecessary stress if the case is not expedited.

We got the letters from her employers as well stating the same thing and attached along with the application.

Do you guys think that it will be considered for an expedite?

Did you get a letter from her Dr?

Choose the option that does not require a request ID number. Thats what I did. It didn't pertain to my request but that's how I got my appointment. They weren't able to answer any case specific information though, so if that's what your hoping for don't be disappointed.

Im trying to make an infoss appt. But the options or reasons I need are not listed.

You can check current case processing times to get an idea of how long your case should take. If your case has a receipt number, you can check the status.

We offer 4 kinds of appointments for a case that you have already filed.
Please choose from the following -
Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing. EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

Which one of the above is my reason if I just want to know where is my file? Its been past 6months and have not heard anything?

I finally made it to the end of this thread to make this post! My I130 petition for my husband was received on April 16, 2013 by USCIS. On October 18, 2013 we received our approval. Received my letter today confirming the approval. Now its off to NVS! We are relieved but I miss my hubby!! Haven't seen him since after our wedding in March! It's so expensive to fly there and I have three children prior to this marriage so I'm holding it down. I'm hopeful this process will move a long. It would be the best Christmas ever if he could be here by then!!! Congrats to others who have received their approvals!!

Meant to say off to NVC!! Oops...

Approval was from NBC. It was never transfered from there. Lee's Summit Missouri to be exact.
I did not submit an expidite, although I had inquired about it.

I've seen lots of talk about people questioning the usefulness of making an inquiry to their senator. I did this and all that came back was that it was in the initial review, which I already knew...duh!!! I started calling regularly, made an info pass appointment. Not sure what got it thru but my husband and I desperately needed some good news. He went back to his home country to wait during this process after we were married there in march, and he is miserable. Has been in the hospital with malaria many times and to make matters worse I can't afford to visit!!!

Anyway I am very happy that others were able to schedule earlier interviews even though we were declined that request. It never hurts to ask that's for sure. I was the one to email the request to the embassy. At least they know that I am eager for my husband to join me!! I know every embassy is different.

Hey dwheels76, how can I find out about what comes after my husband arrives, just thinking ahead here, I know that we will need to pay the $165 after he receives his visa, and then wait for his green card to arrive, but what about getting his social security card and is there any other info we need before adjusting status? Sorry for the run on sentence.... :)

How long does it take usually from the time visa is issued and printed- to the time they send it and receive in the mail?

Its different for each embassy. You will have to find out from someone who went thru the process in Sweden. For my husband he will be able to pick it up from the embassy the following day, I am really happy about that.

I was able to track my package leaving NVC with DHL on Jan. 31st. It hasn't arrived yet but is probably a day away. I think they wont even respond to my request to move the interview up until they receive the file. Still crossing my fingers. Saw others talk about the weight of their package, mine says 1 lb. Hhmm, makes me wonder if there is enough info in there or if they recorded the weight incorrectly.

I had called about obtaining similar information. I was advised by USCIS to submit a letter to request expidite service to yhe same adress you submitted your petition. You are r equired to provide proof like letter from his dr or medical records. Provide this with your request. Thats the best you can do as far as I know. Hope that helps.
Expediting thru USCIS doest mean it will expedite thru NVC and then to his embassy. Good luck!

I submited a letter to USCIS before the petition was approved explaining the situation and stating that we didn't disclose the name used because a different DOB was used also. I think his correspondence with the police thru email will prove helpful since he disclosed to them the situation. We are hopeful! Crazy how our pasts can come back to bite us. He is a good man and I know this will be a big relief to put behind us when he gets that visa.

Congratulations on your petition approval!

I've read Marc Ellis is a good attorney. Use the search box to find more about him. Good luck!

Hoping we can get thru without an attorney, I don't know how people afford this process!

Thanks for that info, my husband already received his police certificate under the name he used as well as requests for one using his proper information. We also have his correspondence with the police there about his situation and needing a police certificate for proof of no criminal activity. He was fingerprinted there so they should be able to easily prove that there was not any illegal activity, right?

Hello everyone!

I had just subscribed on this very interesting forum that I have encountered by chance! And I then understood that I can also get some orientation from here!!

First I'm a French speaking person and I use English as a second language, may my English doesn't disappoint a few of you :-)

I subscribed here because I see myself in situation like many people seeking help! To everyone who would like to help , please read my story careful to get a clue of the whole situation.

in March 2011 , I left my home Country and went to Turkey! From there, I entered illegally to Greece
since my purpose was to go to Sweden where I have a family. I couldn't travel directly to Sweden because in my country they never give European visas easily!

But from Greece, I couldn't use my travel docs to enter to Sweden, so I used someone's else paper! And to stay in Sweden, I only had one option to ask for asylum! But to do that, I was advised by people living there, not to use my correct (proper) information to protect myself!

This is the real the situation now!

In January 2012 , I converted to the mormon church and after five months I met my present wife thru the church website for singles! She's an American. And she came to visit me to Sweden in September of the same year. We then decided to live together, for that I had to return back to my home country and forego my asylum seeker status in Sweden to make things simple! I asked for help from the Swedish migration board and they helped me returning back to my home country!

Then in March 2013 my wife I were married in Kinshasa in Congo. And it has been five months since she filled in a petition for me. Last time when we called, they said our case is at the benefit center now. I don't even know what it is!

These are my questions:

- The local immigration officer told my wife that my past migratory history can delay our process. And she needed to know if I used falsified docs to enter to Sweden. She seemed uncomfortable that day for my situation according to my wife!... But why can that technically delay our process since the Swedish authorities didn't even charge me for that? (the police certificate under the information I used there is empty);

- Secondly , what should we technically do in term of legal procedure to follow to get thru this, in case we get delayed?

- And how a complicated migratory history like mine can affect the procedure? The real truth is , this situation is causing so much trouble to us!

Hope we get some orientation or clarification soon.
