think we're going to confirm the wedding date for 21st March.
If we're lucky enough to be approved in December going to do a civil ceremony to satisfy immigration.

Just been reading all the recent posts...i don't agree with everything that has been said but i don't want to embelish myself in any additional stress...getting this visa is stress enough for me! (i like sitting on a fence!haha)

Just wanted to send my support for everyone waiting for the darn elusive NOA2!

Unfortunately time is what we have alot of whilst we wait but with each sunrise we are getting a day closer to where we all want to be...with our loved ones.

Any how, just wanted to check in and show my support for everyone.

Has anyone started turning the heat up on the wedding preparations? I am getting so twitchy that i want to get it all booked NOW! Mmm does no good being impatient though!

So glad i'm not the only one starting to buy things! Wedding rings being made in Ireland and i'm being measured this weekend for my dress to start being made! It makes me feel better having control over something when everything else is outside my control!
At least when we get the visa there won't be as much left to plan for the big day.

Hoping to fly out to see Rob in about 5weeks and then again at Christmas. Although cosmic ordering the approval for December!!lol

Well we're still waiting for the hardcopy of NOA1! Money order was cashed 08/08/08!
Hoping it turns up soon so I can get our case number and keep a beady eye on the progress!lol If only we'd paid by cheque i could've been stalking my file already!

Hi there, Have you read through the guides at the top of the page? I found them rather useful. We are awaiting our NOA2, which seems to be taking about 4 months or so right now for a K-1 visa, so we are waiting a couple months before we start gathering the rest of the paperwork. We want to be already for the approval that we hope is coming. You can start to fill in your timeline on your profile though. Someone else whose completely a similar journey as yours will probably come along and give you some advice. GOOD LUCK!



Yes, I've been reading the guides and currently looking for sample forms of OF-169 and the others. What I'd like to know is do we start gathering the docs now or wait until we get the NOA2? We got our NOA1 late in September. I'd also like to know whether the pre-interview and interview forms/docs pertain to the pettioner or the petitioned?

For the police clearance for example. How recent dooes it have to be? Can I get it a couple of months in advance? And who is it for, me or my husban? Also, is it necessary to get police clearances from ALL countries I have been to, besides my place of birth/residence? We are in Thailand and filed our petition from here. I have made visa runs to neighboring countries to renew my visa. I stayed just around the border. Do I need a police clearance?

What about the original "long" birth certificate, divorce, adoption, military records, etc.? Are these pertaining to me or the US citizen spouse?


If you are the beneficiary it is you that will need a police certificate, required for any contries you have resided in for more than 1year from the age of 16.
For interview in the UK we have to take originals of beneficiaries birt cert, marriage cert, divorce papers, military records etc. But also originals of petitioners docs that would been copied and sent with original I-129F

I have just returned from spending 2weeks with Rob , previously i was over with him a mere 6weeks prior to that! I was worried that constant visits would raise a red flag (not worried enough not to attempt it though!haha)

I was asked no questions, only asked to show my return ticket. If asked about the visa application i would have been honest but i would definately NOT consider volunteering the information.

I am flying back for the Christmas holidays so hoping it is all plain sailing again!

Hope everyone is as lucky as i've been with immigration officers on my visits.

I have just got back from a 2week stay with Rob.

When i arrived at RDU I was half expecting to be asked loads of questions,who/where/what etc...i was pleasantly surprised when the only thing i had to show was my return ticket!

I had a letter from my employer stating leave dates but apart from that i only had my return ticket to prove i was coming back. I didn't volunteer the information that i was in process of visa application but had they been asked i would have been honest.

I'm not sure if this will be the same when i go back out for Christmas as it will be further down the visa application and hopefully by then NOA2 will be received...ever hopefull for the elusive NOA2!! haha

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to speed up the process. Some have been very lucky and had NOA2 within a month of NOA1, but the average wait seems to be 4months.

The UK police check only takes about 2weeks and it lasts 12months from issue.

Your timeline when filled in will allow you to see an estimated adjudication time for NOA2.

It took a while but my Mum has come around to the idea that i'm going to be in the US soon, every now and then she makes a comment about me leaving her although i think they are said without any malice and its out of her mouth before she realises she voiced the thought.
My Dad lives overseas and i only see him every 18months or so, it's just as easy for him to visit me in the US as it is the UK.

They keep telling me that as long as i'm happy they're happy, which is blessing enough for me.

IMO It wasn't a possibility for Rob to move to the UK as he has a daughter and i don't think its fair to make him move so many miles away from her. I have no children so it makes more sense for me to move to him.

We're having more problems with future FIL as he doesn't understand why Rob had to go and fall in love with 'that British girl'!

Expect your NOA2 between 4-6months of your NOA1.
CSC & VSC are processing alot of July at the moment so that gives you an idea.

We have the same situation.You can only file the change of address when you already have the Noa2 and when your case is already forwarded to the NVC. Before i called the CSC because i wanted to change my address but then one of the representative there told my fiance that we can only do that when our file is already in NVC.My case was forwarded to the NVC last NOv.26 and my fiancee called the next day for my change of address. We did it .Do you have already the Noa2?



If you are the USC then you can change your address at anytime in the K1 process (you do NOT have to wait for the NOA2). Rob changed his address online and we had a touch on our file within 2days so we know it was updated.

If the beneficiary needs to change the address then you do have to wait until the file arrives with NVC to amend, you can send a letter into the service centre dealing with your file but there is no guarantee that the information will be married up with your file!

From NOA1 to NOA2 is 4-6months, then it depends on how quickly the US Embassy in Nepal arranges the Pkt 3&4 and interview.
The interview is for the beneficiary of the K1 visa, so will be for him in Nepal.

You do not necessarily need to have made many visits to each other, so long as you have proof of meeting within the last 2years and later down the process can prove an on-going relationship.

i contacted DOS to amend my address as they still had my file and it was done straight away. Check to see if they still have your file or if it's gone on to the Embassy.
If it's at the Embassy you can call on the expensive £1.20/min line and amend your address you will need your Case No: LND#######

IMO i wouldn't book anything until your NOA2 has been received and your file has left NVC for USE in London. Until that point your application can be held up for any reason.

Not the best news for you, but best to know now rather than late.

When you get the NOA2 your file will be sent to NVC, it normally takes a few days for the file to leave the service centre and arrive at NVC, as soon as the file arrives with NVC you can call them and amend the address for the benefiicary.

Or you could have the petitioner send a letter to VSC or CSC whichever your I-129F went to, advising of the address change and for the file to be updated, although there is a very slim chance that this letter will end up in your file.

I travelled to US after i had sent pkt 3 back, there didn't seem to be anything in the computer. I was just asked std questions - how long staying, visiting who.
As you don't have an employer to get a letter from could you not get a 'rent agreement' from your parents. Anything to show that you will be returning along with your return ticket.

I doubt you will get much sense from the USE the people on the phones only have standard responses and don't have much thought process...DOS seem to have more information and may be the best bet for getting some advise.

i downloaded all the pkt3 forms from the Embassy website...to this day i never received the 'official' pkt3 and we have already had the interview.

Change of address needs to be put in writing to the Embassy, perhaps you can email it to them?
