We never officially got engaged, neither one of us proposed to each other. We just knew we wanted to be together, plus Tom asking me to move to the US to be with him was kind of a bigger deal.

Touched is when the 'late updated' date has changed on your online status. You will see this if you have registered for an online account with USCIS. It means your petition has been looked at.

What abbreviations do you mean? Like VSC is Vermont Service Centre and CSC is California Service Centre? Here is a link to all the others http://www.visajourn...page=definition

Use this guide for your I-134 2008 Poverty Guidelines

Co-sponsors are only allowed in K3, IR-1/CR-1 Visa.

Once your petition will be approved it will be forwarded to the NVC and sometimes it only takes a week or two for NVC to process and send to your fiance's consulate. Some consulates gives interview dates while others send a letter to the beneficiary that they are eligible for visa interview then they can make an appointment.

Hope everything goes smooth...and have fun on your trip!

Not technically true. Most embassys do allow co-sponsors for a K1, it's just a matter of checking. Just because Manila doesn't, it doesn't mean theirs is the same.

The application fee ($455) was the check/money order that would have been sent off with the I-129F. The visa/interview fee is usually paid at the interview, may be different in the Phillipines. Currently it is $131.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust curious
QUOTE (ms_jinga_lala @ Jan 1 2009, 10:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was reading the other topic related to this and I know each circumstance is somewhat unique, though somewhat the same. Reading the other topic just got me curious. I know no one on here will have a definitive answer, but I am seeking opinions on this. I will be starting our K-1 process in a few months and I like to have as much information as I can before I start anything major, and this is by far the most major thing I've ever been involved in. So I do really appreciate and value insight and opinions on this matter, especially from those of you who have been through this part already. I'm concerned about how much evidence to send in. Currently, this is what I have:

4-9 hours of phone calls each and every day for 8 months all logged and traced by a third party service
Consistent emails between us dating back over a year
Online instant messaging archives and recorded sound files to accompany them
Snail mail letters from me to him and some to his family members as well as mail from him to me and some of my family members
Gifts from me to him and family members as well as from him to me
Proof of involvement with my family members including a business he is starting with my brother before he gets here (not enough to qual. for that kind of visa though).

I am visiting next month and I will be spending time with his immediate and extended family. We will be staying at several relatives houses throughout the visit and we will be visiting several destinations. We will also have our ring ceremony (he's Hindu). That visit will add the following to the proof I send in:

pictures of us
pictures of me and his family
receipt for the ring

Is there anything else I could get as proof now or while on the trip? And are those kinds of proof from before my trip even valuable to the filing process? I talk to his parents also (in their native language) but I have no real way of proving that because I've either talked to them on his phone, or when I call their phones the conversations are brief. I do have records of the calls though. Does the exchange of gifts now between myself and his family members bear any weight? Another question is whether or not video files we share now (sending over email) are worth anything? I have video and sound files of him professing his love to me in his native language and though they are very personal, I would gladly send them if I thought they would help. And my last question, do personal references as proof of the relationship matter? What I mean is can we obtain letters from friends and/or family who have been aware of our relationship and know about us and send that to or would it be a waste of time?

Thank you all so much in advance!

If you go to this part of the guides here on VJ http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1guide and then scroll down to 'Documentary Proof of Having Met in Person in the Past Two Years and an Ongoing Relationship:' it will give you most of the info you need.

I think payxibka pretty much has it. Yes they can go through the embassy in London, they just annotate it on the I-129F where is asks which they will be using. She will obtain a British police report through ACPO and a Ghanian one through however would normally issue it. Plus any others from any other countries she has been in for more than a year if applicable.

Plus there are costs for passport photos, travel to and from London (medical and interview).
Any doctors costs for getting vaccination records and if you need any letters.
Police certificate is £35 plus extra £5 if you want two copies.
If you need a long form birth certificate that's about an extra £12.

All adds up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA couple questions
QUOTE (Peachey @ Jan 7 2009, 01:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone!

I'm just starting the application process to get my K-1 to move down to the US to marry my wonderful fiance and I have a couple questions.

Visiting:
Am I allowed to come down here and visit while we are in this process? From what I gather I can come down and visit up until I get my K-1 Visa and then the next time I enter the country I have to stay and get married within the next 90 days.
The reason I'm asking is because we are staring the immigration process now, however I have a contract with my current employer until Jan 2010. Lets just say I get my visa on September 1st. I wouldn't be allowed to just visit from that time until I actually plan on moving? See this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67796

Also, to lawyer or not? This process seems difficult, but not difficult enough to justify spending $5000 + on a lawyer. If you start with the guides above there is no reason why you need to spend that much one someone when you can probably do it yourself. Especially if you have no special circumstances (IMBRA, crimial record etc). Even if you do get a lawyer you will still have to gather all the documents and evidence yourself. All the lawyer does is check the forms and send it off for you. We filed all by ourselves whilst the petitioner was overseas away from the US. Just spend some time studying the guides.

Your help is greatly appreciated smile.gif

NO NOTARY on I134.

Can someone state that explicitly and give the link as well. I am filling out mine as I need to take it to my fiancee. Thank you.

Read my post above (I have copied again for you below) and click on the link. The instructions are from USCIS themselves.

If you read the instructions (which you can download on the same page you download the I-134 from) it specifically says you don't need it notarized.

'..it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it.'

I completed the electronic form with details of my last trip but at that time they said I could still use the wavier form distributed on the plane/airport. Does anyone know if I need to change the details for my next trip and how to do this as by that time the electronic version will have to be used?

Many thanks

I don't think you need to change your details as the flight details were in fact optional. And they will still be giving out the waiver forms on the aircraft as you will still be under the VWP. ESTA is just an added security extra and will not replace the green 1-94W which gets attached to your passport at POE.

When would a visa waiver be applicable? Sorry, I'm new to all this. My fiance is in the UK and comes to visit every 3 months or so...

You fiance travels to America under the VWP already. Means he doesn't have to apply for a tourist visa and can visit for up to three months at a time. The ESTA as detailed above is an extra security authorisation to run alongside the VWP. You can find more info on the US Embassy in London's website.

So if he's only staying for a week every 3 - 4 months, then this isn't something we have to worry about doing?

Yes, he will need it. However he only needs to apply once and he's good for two years.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFaster or easier processing for EU citizens?
You could have the 'easiest' case in the world but all it takes is for your name to be the same as, say for example, someone on the FBI's most wanted list and they need to clear that up before they continue. There are 1000's of criminals out there and 1000's of petitions out there so there is bound to be some hit's on names (innocent ones) alone.

QUOTE (KimandRuss @ Jan 8 2009, 02:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
There are security checks at every stage of this process. Any one of which can hold 'anyone' up for any length of time.

Many from the middle east will have similar names and/or affiliations which may send up a red flag, therefore, many tend to be stuck in checks and/or AP for longer periods of time but, as you see above, anyone can be held up. We have nothing in our backround at all but we were still held up at NVC for several weeks because of security checks.

Just for the benefit of the discussion... Military deployment of USC is grounds for expidite so those folks certainly do get processed faster but unless you ask for it you're in the same boat as the rest of us. smile.gif

good luck

Oh I know about the expedite, but it was mentioned in another discussion by someone else that if the adjudicating officer sees the petitioner is military then they are immediately 'put to the top of the pile' as such. And this person believed it. Total codswallop lol.

Perfect. USCIS will accept a "photocopy" of that document. I would copy it in color and take the original to the visa interview in case they want to see it.

could the USCIS do a freakn catalogue of documents to show wat such documents look like... maybe that would help them.. but personally i think they just like to nit pick for the hell of it..

It would be useful lol. Unfortunately when you get to the US documents, every states version is different. And they probably vary by counties too. Toms decree (Florida) is 5 pages and I've heard that Texas's can be up to 20.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresbirth certificate question - UK fiance
For a UK birth certificate you will never have an 'original' in your posession, the 'original' is kept by the General Register Office. So the copy your parents got when you were registered was a 'certified copy'. In fact when I requested a long form certifcate it was infact a not so fancy photocopy onto some cream paper with a printed GRO stamp and the title 'Certified Copy of an Entry'
