IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMedical appointment,when do I make it?
I am about to send the last (hopefully) piece of info and then I will have to get a medical and an interview in London, U.K. Can I make the medical appt myself before I am given an interview date, in order to try and speed (?!) things up, have been waiting since last March and will be in London from next month anyway. I have been told normally it takes another month after the medical to get the interview.

Oh, right, it's a CR1 visa. Of course they already have the I-864. IF NVC approved it, that's good buy I'd do another updated one with recent pay stubs for good measure. Showing the immigrant's assest is good too. Definitely do the best you can to get the visa on the currently appointed interview date.

Why? If NVC has already reviewed it I do not understand the reason for another... The consulate does not re-approve it.. right?

The can and do ask for them. I said I'd do one, not submit one. It's just for back-up. I doubt the issue will come up but sometimes when there's been spotty employment or in this case a tax return that doesn't qualify, a Consular officer will ask for updated financial documents. So, it's best practice to have them available.

I would like to read a report where it was re-adjudicated...

I thought that once NVC approves it then it is done as it is not the CO's job to re-adjudicate... If there was question on the I-864, NVC would resolve it before sending it on...

CO's are not to readjudicate issues adjudicated by USCIS but they often do anyway. The I-864 in an immigrant visa case however, is approved by NVC, part of the same DOS as the CO works for. There's really no turf war there.

Thanks for all that info. Yes it is a IR-1 visa, we have been married since Aug 2005. They do want another I864 submitted at the interview, they wrote to my husband and told him to complete and send to me and take to interview not to send back to NVC. We both now have the official letters that tell me to get a medical and go to visa. The reason they asked for another I864 was because I filled out the original one with his total annual income for the current school year, yet when I completed how much he paid in taxes for 2006 it didn't match his salary. I was giving them his current salary in his new job, rather than what he actually earned for the calendar year 2006. That year he only worked Jan to July in US and rest of year a few weeks as a supply teacher in UK, not enough to pay taxes here. I called them (in Nov when form was sent back originally) and asked what I was meant to do, the woman there said write a covering letter explaining that, so I did and that was that. Then in April he got this letter saying the case was complete, and he had to redo the form, again I called for advice, a different woman said if he only earned x for that period then that is what I put for income not his actual annual salary, so now if I do an up to date one, he actually earned less for the 2007 period, this would cover the period Aug to Dec 2007 when again he was in a different job, the one that is due to end May 29th. I guess I will complete as best I can, go to interview and hope for the best. We don't know anyone to joint sponsor us. I didn't know I needed a form to self sponsor, I thought that was covered in the part that said does the beneficiary have any assets? We have already gone through this when I tried to adjust status in 2006, he couldn't sponsor me then as his job hadn't lasted long enough, when they went thru previous years income, he had beenr etraining and studying to be a teacher and had no income,so when I mentioned my flat in UK to officer, he said I could use that, but would need to sell it and have money in US account within 90 days, couldn't do that, so we gave up and came to UK for a year, then he got a job in US last August and we thought, having now sold flat and have money in UK a/c, it would be OK. Not thinking this would take so long his job would run out! Nightmare city!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIf US citizen doesn't have a job, any point in attending interview?
My husband's job is ending May 29th (school teacher) will be paid till August, I have funds in bank from sale of flat here in UK, he is looking for a new job, if he hasn't got that by time of interview in London (June 5TH) is there any point in attending interview? Plus he was in Uk for 1st half of last year and did a little work, but was given back UK taxes as he earned so little, so didnt put that on US tax return, only what he earned in new US job Aug to Dec, again not enough for poverty line, again is this crazy to go for interview? So confused and don't know what to do as it'll be here soon, plus have an expensive medical due as well.

Hi , I just called the medical office for a medical as my case is / should be complete shortly . Now , the lady i spoke to said i have to wait for my package from the Embassy ? is this correct ? the web site for interview preperation says you can schedule prior to receiving the package ! has anyone had a medical in London BEFORE they received there package from the Embassy ?? i am scheduled for this friday , any advice greatly appreciated .

I would ring again, I booked mine before packet 3 no problems. Just quote your ldn number.

Hi , I called and she asked for my case number which i quoted to her , she then asked if i had received my package , i said no but she has made me a little paranoid about going ! what did you take with you ? all i can see that comes in the package would be the medical questionairre ? i have downloaded that and will take my passport and a photo as stated ! what do you reckon ? was she misinformed ?

I dont remember taking any forms with me apart from the checklist, that i needed to fill in, that may be the reason they are asking if you recieved the packet yet.

Good Luck
Hi , I downloaded the questionairre , i think i will call back to be sure , thanks for your help , Andy .

I have just had my medical on Friday, I took with me the completed questionaire, a passport photo and proof of any vaccinations I had had, which was the lot as I have already done all this in the US so had their report, but it was over 2 years ago, so wasn't up to date enough. So if you have had any jabs, get proof from your own doc, if not they will give you them, but they are costly. Good luck, they were all very nice and it was done in about an hour, most of that was sitting around time.
