Btw the application does not expire. It only expires if you stop following up wiyh the process and abandon it on your own. The k1 process once upon a time took 3 months total now it takes 9 months. So dont stress about the expiration of the application.

Status updates are for various reasons, some are for working on file others it could be responce to a email inquiry. They are not acurate in time, just the fact someone worked on it.  Look for the date change not the time, and be happy someone looked at your file and its being worked on hopefully!

This is something some of the recent K1 filers are dealing with you are not alone. The reason it is this way is because the K1 visa is not really an immigration visa its a temporary visa till the transision is made with adjustment of status. Anyways your not alone others are expeeiancing this also and this same thing is practiced in Manila embassy as well. So you will just need to fwt a job that has an income of more then 1800 a month then send proof of income. Generally this is brought up if the interviewer notices that the family is not involved in the relationship and or there is a difference in culture and traditions between the couple applying for visa. However things have been changing recently quite a bit so keep us posted .

You can see some of the reviews that people have done for Islamabad embassy it may help with answering questions you may have. Realistically engagement is a western tradition and and it's been made more of a big event unfortunately by various cultures. If you see traditional Pakistani culture some couples don't even see who they are getting married to till wedding night. Long story short pictures with relatives family are key. Explain that no formal ceremony was held for whatever reason..... Don't really need one other then that perhaps you guys did not think it was necessary . BTW practice questions for interview pm if u need a list of sample questions. You need to have some sort of copy or what not of the prior marriage I don't think original are required if so they can ask for them just provide later on.

Misdiminor and felonies show up on your records traffic violations are infractions not a major issue.I got a citation for going over 100mph chased down by helicopters and 2 police cars. ... not attentional and it was kinda stupid I had just taken my last final at a very difficult university and was graduating it was like a celebrative expression that cost 2,395 total. I think DUI costs less! (Which they do consider). Talking on cellphone is a minor thing so is speeding unless you exceed 100mph and they take you to jail.

You seriously need some english courses for beginners.

Anyways, to answer your question once you become a naturalized citizen it is then when you can apply for your USA passport.
But for now you have your green card, you need to be eligible to apply for citizenship.
Which means you have to complete the term of staying in USA certain period.

Also you can marry a USA citizenship girl but if you already have a green card I don't think that will improve your situation any or make it faster, you are already on the path to citizenship. Unless for some reason you managed to not meet the requirements for citizenship and maintain USA greencard in good standings.

PathaN, NYC is so behind because of how many people we have here that are applying for immigration status. From my understanding, the offices just have more cases than they can handle. We're applying through the Brooklyn office and things have been moving pretty well so far. Where are you in the process? I just checked the status today and it says we're in line for an interview. From everything I've read, the average time in NYC is anywhere from 6-8 months. In fact it may be longer now that August 15th was the first time children of illegal parents could apply for temporary residency. :(



Agreed... the additional workload will put more strain on the lack of resources already.

Yes its ok to take in copy, Mail does get lost and sometimes the address is incorrectly entered. Check your address make sure its correct on the letter. Usually the local office knows you will be coming in for the exam so should not be an issue.

Jisha, first of all congratulations on your approval (noa2 ) and let's try contacting other members who received the approval and have had the interview find out the wait time. I just received my notification of noa2 approval maybe less then an hour ago so I'm right behind you in the process. However I do have to say there is something not right with your case. The beneficiary should have received something in the mail by now I have heard 3 weeks. Look at other posts from Pakistan members.

I think you pretty much have the main basis covered, if you have additional items and Original's usualy are good.

For example some peopel list taking in the NOA1 and NOA2?... i dont think they need those because they sent them to you anyways.

OH yeah you should get a copy of the petitioners passport, showing the stamp of the entery and exit. Good way to prove that you have met.

I just looked at mine and it says:
Notice Date: June 4th 2012
Valid from 6/4/2012 to 10/03/2012

It could have been an error, but either way it does not really matter because those dates are kind of like position holder dates. If the embassy backs up with lot of work or some other issue occurs they dates become invalid. Most everyone i know goes over the date to attain visa.

There is usually a tracker look in the K1 section probably something with February filters. Don't actress sometimes some files get done last I have heard 7 months ocassionally. Luckaly for me it was 5 months to the day that I got an RFE if it had not been for that it would have been an approved responce on time. Just hang in there. If you need some help or guidance send me an message I just went through the same exact process your going through.

welcome to the AP club! there is a post called "New islamabad AP tracker" you might want to join that and talk to the others who are frequent visitors on there. Many Males from pakistan are put in AP for excessive period of times some get there visa after a year and others are still waiting.

If you marry your fiance it will result in one of 2 things.

1. Cancelation of your K1 visa application because you twi will not meet the qualification for k1 VISA any longer. you MUST be Single (not married) when your FIANCE enters the USA... yes this is a very difficult thing to understand and comprehend for out culture... beleive me i had many hours of discussions and unconfortable situations and questions to answer to my family and her family and had to make them understand. DO NOT RISK what your thinking!


2. You will have to beging the process all over again... yes that means you file for CR1 which is the differnt visa. He will be a green card holder as soon as he enters the United States. either way this will not help your case! Also i am sure you love your fiance but dont commit to being married... what happens if he is never able to get his visa? are you ready to leave your home and everythig to live in pakistan... think this over... so far i have seen about 4 girls in our community break an engagment after having to wait out the AP for over a year. Its a very difficult journey and experiance but you yourself have to make this judgement call.

If you have not heard anything yet still.... i suggest getting senators and congressment involved... they tend to be helpfull sometimes! Its better then getting no help at all. Besides that what was the reason given to your fiance of the AP process? did the interviewer show any concerns or ask to submit any additional documentation?
