I recently got a will and power of attorney drawn up and the solicitor said my Super will stay here in Oz locked in until I hit retirement age....there are some special circumstances where you can draw it out early, but apparently moving overseas and getting married to a USC isn't one of them! sad.gif

I have my K1 interview tomorrow morning in Sydney!!!!! Eeeek! Soooo excited! And this time in 5 weeks I should be in the air mid-flight to LAX! Double Eeeeeeeeek!!! smile.gif

Best Of Luck to you...I live in Cali too,..where abouts you going to be,...

Alex & Astrid - Good to hear you've been making some progress with your immunisations... hopefully you'll get what you need smile.gif The only reason mum knew where my book was, was because we moved 5 years ago and she found them all (inc my 3 siblings) completely randomly... I gotta admit i really thought they didn't exist anymore tongue.gif

mrsemcee - Thanks for that advice on the train stations. I'm so nervous 'cause I've never done public transport in Sydney... hopefully it's not too bad? Is it usually crowded? Is there a website that shows train times? Does it ever run late? or cancelled services? These are all questions I have so if you have answers that'd be awesome. I'll also google it.

Random Update

So, as you've read I got my medical results a while ago but when I received P4 I found out that I didn't get everything I was supposed to!

Not really that big of a deal, just was supposed to include a copy of my vaccination records which I'll need for the AOS so I called and the doctor is sending that along. Apologised for not sending it first but because my vaccinations were up to date they didn't think about it... apparently most times it's sent is because there are follow-ups needed, like say HPV which is multiple shots.. and stuff.

Also, this could sound stupid to some of you, but I just found out that my Green Card (GC) doesn't allow me to work... I need the EAD (Employment Authorisation Document) to do that... which is MORE paperwork but thankfully not more money if I send it in with the AOS paperwork. Here's some info on it if some of you don't know:

Definition - http://www.visajourn...zation_Document

Form & Form Instructions - http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

You'll see there's a fee of $340 but if you look in the special instructions it says "If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, and you paid the I-485 application fee required, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765." and this is us biggrin.gif

Good luck to you all.

Good Luck to you. I just read your post that you had been approved, way to go!
But, I did want to correct you on something.

Your GC (GREEN CARD) is an authority to work. Once it is issued the EAD becomes invalid. The purpose of the EAD, is to allow you to work while your GC is being processed.
Some times it is issued after the 2 yr green card, Stupid I know, but it all really depends on how quickly, and in which order your AOS apperwork is adjudicated.. Technically, if you really wanted to get involved in it all, You can work with a K1 visa, straight off the plane. The rules are a bit ambiguous, and a little hard to find, but it is allowed. and that is even when your SS card says "valid with work authorisation only".
The turn around for AOS seems to be pretty good of late. So I don't think you will have many problems.

Congrats!

I wouldnt be so quick to say the documents didnt get delivered.
Usually anything trying to be delivered to a Service centre after noon on a Friday, will get that "undeliverable" message. Regardless of where it's sent from. I would wait til Tuesday, i think you may be surprised!!

But Melissa, if your reading,..all things happen for a reason, maybe this is a sign of bigger and better things happening for you, by way of a much better job, and finally success with Javier and the Advisory opinion.

Im thinking of you,..

no, its never easy Dawn,..

What I meant by independently is, you cant pay for your own travel or means of travel to the States, if he is on retirement orders, Government has to pay for your trip stateside, its all part of the ETS procedure. Unless, they have allowances for paying you out the maximum travel entitlement, and you could put that towards your trip home on the QM. That would be awesome if they did that!!
Things may have changed, I am hoping they can do that for you!!

Dawn,..

Just wondering if you will still be a military dependant at that stage?. Because, if you will be and you are coming back so your hubby can go to a new duty station or back to his place of enlistment so he can finally retire, I was lead to believe, you have to travel as a military dependant, on his orders back to the states, and can not travel independently (own means).
Or will he be sepearted from the military before you do this?. I'm just curious,..becasue my Father in Law retired after 20 years active AF, and had to retire back to his state of enlistment, prior to relocation?

I hope you can do it,..sounds like a wonderful idea though!!

United KingdomPickford Shipping says Customs won't ship stuff?????!!
I think thers a slight miscommunication. I had Aliied Pickford, if thats who your talking about,..move my stuff from, Australia, to Germany, as my haubby was going to be stationed there. It went via England. It had a whole household full of stuff, all womens things, and kids stuff, and no kids were immigrating. In fact, my visa had I was immigrating to the USA, not Germany. SO i find it hard to believe it's a visa issue.

I think a few more questions need to be asked. As my stuff was in storage in England for 8 weeks before i requested it sent to Germany. I had NO problems at all.

Firstly Gary, I feel bad for you. You have to keep stewing over the first words I wrote in this dang thread. You are still continuing to read way to much into it. Anyone that knows me from my nearly 8 years on this forum, knows, thats how I am, thats how I ask questions. It was not derogatory or rude, both of which you have been back to me.

If it makes you sleep better at night belittling others, and expressing the ludicrisy of their questions so be it. And I guess while you continue to insult me because you have nothing better to fight with, you are leaving some other person alone.

You have called me uneducated, and even suggested I had not finished high school. Really, is that the best you can do? And after asking some other educated people from my home country about proof reading in general, it was not the norm for them either when they got their degrees. Study sessions yes, proof reading work no. So I guess, things have changed over the years. and eucational methods and standards are different worldwide.

Then you have to "suggest" that I do not in fact speak English well myself, and also suggest that I only speak one language, or is that not about me?

And if you bothered to research my quote which has been on my signature for years, its not referencing academic education, so much as a womans role in educating her family and her children in life lessons and love.

I NEVER ONCE insulted your wife, or ridiculed her accomplishments. If you had bothered to read my replies properly, I had said that I had followed your wifes education updates over the years, and was in awe of her studiousness.

Thank you Captain Hammer, that totally makes sense. Thats all that I was trying to understand, I appreciate your response a great deal. I can relate also, as when trying to learn German, I ran into similar problems such as the articles you speak of.

And Why_Me, I understand the need to be defensive, I get that, but why must you tar someone with the same brush so to speak because of prior experience. Tread cautiously , maybe yes. But automatically get on the defensive because I have the same Union Jack in my flag as previous tormentors, is totally unnecessary.

I hope that some people on here have learnt to not judge a book by it's cover from now on, I was brought up to not do that, and hope that others are the same. Just because my avatar makes me seem like a stereotypical causcasian, blonde haired girl..does not mean I am one.
