IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread	I don't mind having a new thread.   Ok then we have another for monthly threads thank you very much for your input it helps tremendously.     Yep, I'm also a recent NVC arrival. I got my NOA2 from CSC on September 5 and NVC received my case on September 17 (from what I've seen, NSC takes longer to ship the cases to NVC), but as of today I don't have a case number yet. They told me the exact same thing, that I have to wait 30 days from the date NVC received it.   They lie, keep calling every other day or so or once a week how ever you like but don't leave it up to them.  I bet they take their grandmothers pudding from them at the convalescent home they put her in and laugh.   Patiently waiting on the case complete.   Soon my dear soon you will be on cloud nine.     I also vote for a new thread   Excellent thank you for your input I think it's a land slide. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread	Another slow day at the office eh?         Yup another slow day, in my country they would say, they run like a horse and stop like a mule hahahah   Are there any other recent NVC arrivals here?  It's been a month since our approval and when I called NVC a few minutes ago they still have not received our case.  I then asked the (very nice!) phone rep how long after they receive it can I expect to wait before getting our case number.   He said it's an additional 30 days after the day they receive the petition.     I'm about to have a nervous breakdown.   No sweet heart just relax they are taking their time is all, it will arrive in about a week I bet so don't worry this is the easy part.   So take a deep breath and know we are here for you.     When I called they told me it took 5 weeks from NOA2 date for them to receive your case and then another 30 days for them to assign a case # and IIN.  My NOA2 date is 8/18/14 and they "received" my case on 9/17 and they assigned the case # & IIN same day. I was able to submit DS-261 on 9/18. HOWEVER . . .  now my AOS fee won't be unlocked for about 20 business days from 9/18 because they haven't finished processing my case into their system.....   A few of my friends on VJ had their cases "received" by NVC about 3-4 weeks after NOA2 date and the case # & IIN's for them were assigned about 2 weeks after and two of them have already paid their AOS fee as well and submitted DS-261.   My point is, NVC says many things so just keep checking and calling twice a week if you can to follow up. I guess one advantage of having a new thread each month is we can see how long some folk are at NVC for.   I agree, I think most people find it easier also to not have to read all the pages they get over whelmed but I for one really don't care either one way or the other.  So far we are on to go to a new Thread each month. Which I pray wont last for ever hahahaa    Thank you my dear.   Today I received the "60 Day" email in reply to the NVC receipt of my AOS Checklist.    I'd prefer if the letter was more honest and said something like "We are really sorry for the delay...well....not really! Because the people that run this place go home to their families every night so it's all good."   I wanted to add a thanks and shout out to Soloenta, EOC and the others that chimed in with some kind support.  It helps more than you know!   Awww sweet heart your very welcome, we are here for you and I share your sentiment they don't care because their life is in their hands not in a strangers. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread	Since I've seen how unreliable NVC is, I thought I should confirm if they really did accept my marriage certificate. Called right now and after 50+ minutes of waiting, got to Rick the robot He gave me the usual 60 day story and said my checklist hadn't been reviewed, I tried to get him to tell me what dates they're working on but he was adamant on his 60 day story. Anywho, good thing is he confirmed that marriage certificate had been accepted and the only thing remaining is the checklist, for which I should wait at least 60 days from aug 15th before calling and confirming. ....and now it's time to go back to waiting     Don told my my AOS was accepted, Amanda told me I had CC and it was all a lie.   I don't believe a word they say, I can't trust them anymore.   God willing this wont happen to anyone else at least any one of us. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread	Hi all,   Based on Soloenta advice  I am posting my question here.   I am married to LPR ( religious asylee ) ,& we filed for 130 F2A , 12-sept-2014 is our PD .   We are from Egypt, I got the receipt & when I checked USISD website , I entered the receipt number & I got initial review , I checked the processing time for California service center for spouse , it was 5 month .   Now I do not understand what's the use for the processing time if I have to wait for my PD to be current, is there any way to speed things up as my husband is Christian & I am not (was born Muslim) & in Egypt they do not allow nor recognize civil marriage, & it might be dangerous for me if anyone finds out.That's why we got married in Cyprus.   Thanks again.      I know this might sound odd and if it's wrong please anyone chime in.  I was thinking if your in this much danger can you leave Egypt right now?  You can fly to Quito Ecuador you don't need a visa for 90 days then you can file for one just make sure to take birth certificate, police records anything like that you can think of.   I know you don't speak the language but you will be safe and it's cheap to fly there so your husband can visit you.  Rent is cheap and some convents have cheap rooms for women, I don't know it's a thought might want to talk it over with your husband.   Or some other country,  and http://www.doyouneedvisa.com/visa/Egypt/Ecuador     Sorry this one would not show,   http://ecuador.visah...-United_States/ Edited by Soloenta, 25 September 2014 - 02:04 PM. If we continue on just this thread it will be too much for newcomers to read all pages. Just my opinion. Contacted State at 202-647-6575 option 4 then 4 to get mailing address for the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Consular Affairs (oversees NVC) Michele Thoren Bond. Will write to her this weekend. 2. Asked this office as well as press office repeatedly for the name of the NVC Director. Refused. 3. Contacted former Serco NVC employees to give them the usfamiliesfirst@hotmail.com email address to ask for help if they had any information or contacts to help us. 4. Sent an inMail on LinkedIn to an anonymous profile listed as Director, NVC. Invited this person to get on board or be in the line of fire.   If anyone would like to help, I think it might be helpful for us to each create simple graphics with USC and foreign spouse/kids side-by-side and big text that says "SEPARATED SINCE XXX". What I'd like to do is to have us give it to operators at NVC when we call in and ask them to get on our side. They are the ones dealing with the angry calls, but they are human beings who probably if they heard our stories would be sympathetic. So let's call forth that sympathy.   If you get a sympathetic agent, ask them to note the email on a piece of paper and when they get home send us whatever they can in terms of information on how NVC works, additional contact numbers that get to people in administrative positions, anything that will help us wage war on this piece of s*&t administration. At the very least, they will tell supervisors and it will move up the chain somewhat. If we do get info, we can use that in letters and calls to the press and Congress.   It is high time we get pissed off.      Ok I'll give it a try, most of those Reps are pretty nasty so we will see if anyone cares enough.  Thank you and I hope and pray this works, I wish there was one so that the CO at the Embassy didn't have the last word and we could fight it if they deny us.  They say they have ultimate power and no one should have that much power.   Thanks again. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread	I know the rant thread is where this post belongs.   Like many of you, we are disappointed and let down by this process and the government that is supposed to serve its citizens.  A process which is by all measures fairly simply that takes a year to review a few forms is really quite disturbing.  And to think we all PAY for this "service."   Only a government institution that is supported by public funding could be so incompetent and yet survive.  There is no excuse imaginable that makes this process acceptable.  Poor political decisions backed up by incompetent administration has families separated for over a year.  That's just not right.   After waiting 6 months for an NAO2 (like most of us), and waiting at the NVC for 5 months, we sadly enough received an NVC checklist on our AOS last week.  Our useless attorney put the wrong income number from my 2013 1040 tax return into box 13.a.1 (he used AGI instead of line 22 Total Income).  He was promptly fired last week and I sent a new AOS in myself that has a scan date of 9/24.  My wife broke down and cried for the first time during this process as we realized yet another 60 days was down the toilet.  Our attorneys fault??...yes.   My fault for not reviewing his work more carefully??....yes.   But the real rub is how simply ridiculous the process is that such a small error costs so dearly in the lives of those trapped within this insane process.  Although I'm not as upset as I was 10 days ago, I'm still simmering over this entire immigration process.  After getting delayed at USCIS for 6+ months in the backlog, they open the flood gates and dump applications on the unprepared NVC resulting in another backlog on the same folks previously delayed.  It would be comical if it were not so tragic.  What was taking 90 days at NVC just a few months ago now takes 6 months.  And it boggles the mind that checklists are reviewed in the same que as first time document submissions. I don't get that. So it will take 2 months to review one single number, in one single box, that is the same exact number that appears on the attached tax return. That my friends is total lunacy. You would think that they would have a process for dealing with a simple typo correction versus other checklists that have bona fide evidential or qualification shortfalls.  But hey, I guess that would just be too efficient for our incompetent government to implement.   All the "real" work is done at the Consulate level.  The NVC is simply "secretarial" making sure everyone's forms are in order before they ship them for the interview.  It staggers the mind that there is no one watching or caring that the NVC is woefully under staffed and that families are being emotionally damaged.  Its a quiet little atrocity that the news doesn't cover as is not politically juicy enough to make the 24/7 news cycle.  Only those of us trapped and crawling slowly through the system really understand the hardship it brings to loving families.   My wife Rosalit is crushed now that it looks like yet another Christmas without us together in our home.  We never imagined the process could take 14 months or more and we were so hopeful we would be together this holiday season.  Such a terrible time of the year for a checklist that costs 2 months.   We are trying to stay strong though.  We refuse to let this broken and incompetent system get the best of us and we are now making Christmas plans me to visit her over the holidays to sooth the bitter underlying disappointment.   Thanks for letting me rant.                   To the thread and you stated it beautifully and we are here for you when ever you need us.       One sad note, there are even worse things happening at the Consulate/Embassy level, much worse than you can immagine to innocent people.  This is truly a tragedy since there is really no recourse in these matters. People with connections are getting their case completed early, yet the ones who chose to take the "prescribed" path are being mistreated. I had a panic attack last night and couldn't stop crying, my poor hubby stayed on the phone with me until I felt better. He basically stayed up all night to comfort me. I sometimes feel sorry for him and I start thinking that it's all my fault for putting him through this. Sometimes I feel I'm being selfish for staying here and leaving him all alone and other times I rationalize it thinking it's only a matter of time and it'll be better for me to stay here and work as much, just so we both don't have to build our lives from scratch again. All of this is just a mess. I want to be positive, yet I become my own biggest critic.   Oh Romii, I'm so sorry I know how you feel, I fear the Egyptian Embassy, why should I be made to fear it?  There are no answers to some of our questions and it is unfair and it doesn't make any sense at all. But it's almost over just a little bit longer and we will God willing be free of all this.  Free to live our lives to do as we wish and not seek approval from these incompetent fools. If they see injustices going on they should intervene to fix the system as a whole and/or make incompetent agency planners account for their failings. The reason I say this is, far too often in less transparent systems of government, this practice can easily morph into a situation where no one will get justice without some rep intervening on their behalf and reaping some kind of payback, financially or at the ballot box.     Thanks... fingers crossed for all of us.     Actually, when I went to bed last night after the day's ordeal, I realized that my wife is right next to me and my kids are fast asleep and safe next-doors. At that moment, nothing else really mattered and I trusted the next day will bring its own mix of news. Sure enough, I was woken up by an email ping on my phone around 4:30 in the morning with the CU-Boulder supporting letter. I usually wake up at that time anyway to tend my garden before the school run.         How beautiful and how true, nothing matters as long as your with your loved ones.  Everything else will fall into place or not but your with who your supposed to be with.         Why do I see such a dark tunnel, I wish I was more positive than I am. Honestly I think some of us should start considering working at NVC. He was told Silvia is not on night shift so he got supervisor Octavio and he explained to him about the checklist, he told Octavio that a copy of the document was submitted to USCIS and then the original and a copy of the document was included in the IV package. Hubby discribed how the document looks like to Octavio and he promise to help pull the file and review it. **Octavio said they have about 70 case files that are up for supervisor review and that it might take 1-2weeks to get thru the files since my request was just put in yesterday. Hubby asked when can he call back, Octavio said next week, hubby said can he call back on Friday for check up and Octavio said he should call back and request to speak with him. I pray and hope Octavio will do his best to help us out.     He will Insha'Allah I have heard as many good things about Octavio as I have about Sylvia so we are both in good hands. The time and energy wasted on constructing this email would have been used to check the package and see that what they requested for is right there with them. Still waiting for the supervisor review. Calling again tonight to see if the supervisor had actually pull the file for review.     They created this mess it's up to them to fix it.  They have just messed so many of us up for no reason at all.   Is it incompetent?  Stupidity or is this done on purpose?  It's really almost impossible for me to fathom they aren't doing this to just delay us. It's an employment visa tailored for scientists and artists who could prove they're leading experts in their field, hence it doesn't require a prior job offer and can be self-petitioned... called EB-1A. I had to educate the CO on it to reverse his denial decision on the spot.     Will do...     This just truly makes me want to cry and am close to it.   Wish you could go to Ecuador live in Quito such a beautiful city and nice people there they would respect and cherish what you have to give to the country.   UNBELIEVABLE!    I still think this will be fine once the OC received the second set of papers he asked for to save face.   For your entertainment. We have a joint sponsor. When we checked the petitioner's (my wife) I 864 we found that Part 3 item 7 was correct. When we checked our joint sponsor's form we immediately noticed that Part 3 item 7 was wrong. Instead of 1 my joint sponsor had mentioned 0 in Part 3 item 7. So we corrected my joint sponsor's I 864 and will be mailing it today. My understanding is these days even the names on the checklist's are messed up and we need to apply logic while sending in the corrections....      So sorry you have a checklist but thrilled it's simple and easily fixed.  WOW  now you can breath and I agree you have to apply logic to everything that has to do with Immigration and check and recheck a million times. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread	It's official... I had a Hat-trick  today... third AP in as many consecutive visa applications !!!! Had the most grueling interview today. Arrived at the embassy at 12:30 and left at 3:00 pm. The CO interview alone lasted over an hour and a half !!! Half way through the interview the CO was about to reject the application citing a missing requirement from the petition (a tenure-track job offer). I had to painstakingly convince him that he was citing the requirements of the wrong visa category altogether. Once that was squared away, I had to walk him through my 14-page petition letter and all the evidence contained in it which exceed the requirements of the correct petition category. Glad I had a duplicate of everything I submitted... it was like one of my lectures... CO said as much jokingly at the end.   At the end, we reached a compromise that I provide a fresh letter from CU-Boulder that they are expecting my arrival and are providing their research facilities for my use (received a 221(g) letter detailing this request). I had a formal letter to that effect from CU-Boulder, but the CO wanted a reaffirmation !!!   So drained now... I need to rest before I contact CU-Boulder.     What idiots, I would beg you to come to my country and roll out the red carpet for you and your family.  Your brilliant in every way and an asset to any country or organization of any and every kind.    He must have been jealous you have a brain and he's working on air.   But thank God in the scheme of things this is easy to do and get you to Colorado.  I'll be praying it can be done very quickly.      Now rest you've earned it and then some.      People like this CO is what scares me and assures me of AP!
