IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	Misery loves company =(   We are both in Israel for the time being but will be moving to NYC as soon as this all gets sorted out. We made living/travel plans based on broad estimates of how long the NVC stage normally takes, but we didn't realize that it was an option for our IV fee to take this long to invoice, so I guess we'll just have to see how things play out.         I think a lot of people think (wish it was true) that going through this nightmare it's a given they will receive a visa but the truth is the interview is the most important part and the one that decides if one is given or not.  Which is why it says at the website to do nothing until the Visa is in hand.  I wish you much luck not that you will need it. Your case is COMPLETE!!!!!!!!" And then I yelled, "FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!" ::insert dancing emojis with sunglasses which I have been saving for Case Complete and now can't use them because I am on a mobile device:: Thank you so much to all of you with your patience and well wishes. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	I've already tried and it didn't work, unfortunately.     It looks like people who got their case numbers on May 22 received the emails asking them to fill out the DS-261 form and pay the AOS fee today.     I think I can expect to receive the email tomorrow since my case number was created on May 23.     I could have extended my vacation a little bit more since NVC turned out to be slower than I had expected.  LOL!     Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez I would have thought you were right behind me no more than one to three days.  I got my letter filled out DS-861 and paid the AOS fee.  Hope you get that letter soon and wish I could have gone on vacation.    At least you got some rest and fun. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	That's fine asking a question like that (since they don't have transcripts), I was just referring to when people ask what amount to use when they do have transcripts (or tax returns).   To answer your question, for your parents, they'll put $0 for the three years, then they'll just have to provide a letter stating why they don't file taxes (not high enough income). If you want, provide a print-out from IRS stating that they don't need to file. Then just make sure to provide proof of all the assets that are going to be used to qualify for the I-864.   Hope that clears it up!     Yaaaa, I don't know how to French braid    Maybe I'll ask the HR person. If anything, I can start out with a red wig, instead of the blue or purple, as that's more "normal". IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	I'm not entirely sure, but I bet that you'd just fill in $0 as the income, with an explanation letter that they don't make enough money to file taxes, but that they qualify on assets alone. Then in the assets section of the i864 you'd put the value of assets, and send supporting documentation (bank statements, appraisal of house, etc). You may want to file 2013 taxes for them (even though they don't have to file) just so that if you get a checklist you can send something... But now that I think about it, isn't there an irs form that will back up the claim that they don't actually have to file? I don't know that much about us taxes, but I think there is. Logically, and with my "lawyer's daughter" ability to read forms, that's my best guess. But I'm not an expert, or an accountant, so if anyone knows more, please chime in! This would apply to anyone qualifying on assets alone, not just retired sponsors.        Thank you for your input Nightingalejules, so I know I would put $0 with an explanation but my parents make enough without assets but they are going to add them so there is no rejection.  So not sure what the heck to put in my parents I-864 and I-864a.  I have searched but boy none really helps me out.  I'm at a total loss but I want to thank you profusely for your input it means the world to me. No forms yet to be filled and no fees yet to be paid. Guess they have not finished imputting it into their system. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	I understand the fear of not doing something right, but it states right in the question, between the question number and where you start inputting the numbers EXACTLY what amount to use. If one asks here, they're going to get the exact same information (if given the right answer anyways) as it already states on the form.            I understand but I have a question that is not answered on the Wiki and to be honest am hesitant to ask.  But will because I have no recourse but to do so.   My parents are both retired they don't file taxes you can make about $35,000 jointly without filing taxes so my parents don't have those papers.  They have assets more than enough for four with their retirement alone, plus rental they have CD's, their property paid in full, savings but how do I file for them, I really don't know what to do and this isn't in the Wiki.  I know I have to file even if I don't work, can't because I'm taking care of my parents who are ill and is why I returned.  So there you are in a nut shell.  I have been worrying about this since I came to this thread but have only asked one person I trust, but am still confused.  But would like more input and if nothing else this can help someone else and maybe even added to the Wiki for future reference. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	Soloenta, if you haven't dealt with the U.S embassy yet get ready for some nasty incompetent people. My I-129F was approved about 2 months ago and was sent to the embassy. Now since my I-130 is approved I have to go through NVC. Anyways wait til you deal with tip you get to the embassy. I have filed a complaint against with my congressman regarding one lady in particular. If you ever deal with "Saurelle" either hang up or record your conversation or save your chat. Situation 1: When verifying my wife's information on their website (since we had no communication with the embassy whatsoever regarding next step in the process) she asked for her email address. When I provided the address she said that is wrong we cannot go any further, she wouldn't share any information (although all the important information like passport number, DOB, home address etc I answered correctly) I flipped out on her and told her I will be contacting her supervisor she relented and we continued. Out of curiosity I asked what email address does the application show? Her answer? Remember this is over the phone........ ATTENTIONINVALIDEMAILADDRESS is what she spelled out to me! Unbelievable right!!   Moving on: Situation 2 Different day She incorrectly spelled 3 out of 5 names in my wife's full name and she put as date of birth Wednesday 22, 1984 When asked to correct the errors, she got better by only misspelling her last name.   Situation 3: Chat online again for case status about why we have had no communication about how to schedule a visa interview(* I provided my NVC case number and other pertinent information* prior to her response) she told me "In order to bring your wife over to the U.S. you must first file an application through USCIS".  AWESOME JUST AWESOME huh!! So when i told her yes i have done that already and have an approved I-129f at the embassy, she promptly closed the chat window!   I'm getting a headache just thinking about her..         I'm so sorry you had to go through this and believe me I do understand how you feel.  My case was a little different than your, my husband is Egyptian and Muslim and I had, forced hahaaaa to go to the Embassy to get the certificate to marry that the Egyptian government requires to marry.  In the process I met the dreaded little piece of S__T Egyptian old fart who is known to be rude and nasty and he didn't disappoint one bit.  Said if I thought I had known my husband long enough to marry him, I said I think four years is good and he smirked and said I don't think so.  I wanted to slap him out of his chair but the three inch plexiglass prevented it.   He also told me to not correct anything so I didn't and it cost us almost a week to have the paper corrected and another dreaded visit to the Embassy.     Then I paid $50 bucks for this snotty young (looked 18) guy tell my now husband to go wait in the waiting room in a nasty way.  Then he proceeded to tell me he had to give me the following information.............. In a nut shell, men in Egypt marry just to get a visa so it's most likely that is what your fiance is up to.  I said listen my husband is a communications engineer and had certificates in various computer programs etc he isn't a shoe shine boy nor does he work at resorts entertaining guests.  His response, we shall see about that hahahaaa really you little loser I wanted to kick his ### but again the darn plexiglass didn't allow me to do so.   Then he has the nerve to ask me if I still wanted the certificate, I said yes and the little MF shook his head in disgust.  OMG BELIEVE ME I KNOW EXACTLY HOW THEY ARE.   Sorry got upset there just thinking of it.      I really wish I could prevent my husband going through this nightmare.   Thank you I do appreciate your heads up. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	I just talked to Waldo and got the IIN!  I now have both the case number and IIN.     Even though my case number was assigned 10 days ago (May 23), Waldo said there was nothing I could do now until I receive an email from NVC asking me to fill out DS-261 and pay the AOS fee.  He said that I would receive the email sometime this week.     I thought I was taking a vacation too long and my case was getting delayed.    Well, that wasn't the case at all!      I'm so glad I didn't cut my vacation short!       Why don't you try to get into the website just in case he might be wrong and you might be able to get in and start the process now.  Give it a try. But, if you've already sent that in, yes bring proof of extension to the interview because if you don't, you'll be put into AP for missing documentation as 2013 taxes are required.     Well, we do have casual Friday, just not sure if it's THAT casual      It's a little sad that has to even be discussed here as it states right on that question, on the form, EXACTLY what number to use. Still baffles me how people are confused as which number to use as it is RIGHT THERE       Not really, it's being so scared of waiting even longer after USCIS and specially if they stuck you in the Nebraska Service Center.  I know it's annoying but at the same time I understand their fear.  Just saying. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	another month and it has gotten worst ! husband and I been fighting like we hate each other he had asked for the divorce a million times then we been trying to make it up and we can't be good w.o fighting every 2 min idk wat to do anymore i love him but he doesn't seem to care about this anymore! when we fight he left our case out as if he was doing it to hurt me he doesn't wants to cll nvc or do anything! we already paid the I864 fee and thats all we have done we are in troubles besides fighting everyday he had to amend his taxes and now he haven got the amid tax back so we can't even put together the AAOS PACKAGE  not to mention he owns IRS $300.00 for filling wrong his taxes :  this sucks almost two years of this bs and we are losing it ! someone help me do we  need the amend forms to send the package            I'm so very sorry sweet heart, this process is so difficult that it takes it's toll on many who go through it.       I am presuming your in Panama and he is in the USA?  I wish there was a way for him to visit you even if        it's just for a week or two.  It might be enough to put things back on track and for both of you to remember       what you have despite the process.  We sometimes forget what we have and can see only the moment.       I wish I could help you in some way but all I can do is say a prayer. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	I called NVC at 7am (EST) and waited for 40 minutes to talk to Joy!  Lucky me!       Joy gave me my case number, but she refused to give me the IIN.       She was pretty bitchy on the phone, but I wasn't surprised a bit (since I heard about her on this thread) so I managed to keep my cool!       I'm calling them back again now to get the IIN.  I hope to talk to anyone but Joy!  LOL         I'm sure yours was ready the day after mine was. it not the same day.   You now I've said this before but we really need to complain to a supervisor about these people.  We can't just keep quiet and put more stress on ourselves, it's jut too much and we need to put our foot down.  When you were gone a VJer called and I forget her name but Joy's twin made her cry but she complained about this CS rep and that is what we should all do.  I will if I get someone nasty. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	Checking in after a couple of weeks silence... turns out life outside VJ does still exist! Who knew?    Have now paid the IV fee, posted the IV package and completed the DS260. The Fedex site suggests our IV package will be delivered to NVC around 10.30am Monday so then the waiting game will begin again. Somewhat concerned that we are going to be checklisted for the AOS package but when I called on Friday they said it wasn't even under review yet. Tuesday will be 2 weeks that they have had it so I will start harrassing them then    In other news, I called last week and I DEFINITELY selected option 1 for English speakers and my call was answered in Spanish.... again. I told him that I had selected the English option, which he acknowledged to be true, but then he proceeded to switch between English and Spanish throughout the conversation so it took about 10 minutes after I had to clarify everything he said when really he could have answered my questions in about 30 seconds. Grumble grumble... as long as they process it quickly, I don't care what language they want to speak!      How rude and unprofessional of this person, can't believe the people they hire.  I had one that hardly speaks English and I could hardly understand her.  Really this is about immigration it's a serious endeavor not asking if they still have toilet paper for sale.   Wish we could work from home I would love to do their job.  ......... I really hope her mistake doesnt cost me a month or longer in this process      May I suggest to send the Embassy where the interview will be and ask them about this.  If nothing else you will know exactly what they expect and you can send your paper work with the Embassy e-mail attached.  I have had great information from the Egyptian Embassy and they are notorious to not even e-mail back.  So give it a try it can't hurt but help you out.   Much luck, your in my prayers. I sent my AOS package Attn: CMR AOS instead of DR...any idea??? We have 2 little dogs and they will both be flying from Australia to NY. I am stressing more about that than anything - except NVC of course!!!        Had my two cats shipped in Cargo because they were together in the crate and they made it with flying colors,you just have to make sure they have water because my cats had no water for 22 hours but they were fine. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - June 2014	What's the longest time anyone had been on AP? My husband has a us visa already but we want to have our wedding party in the us for my family but I'm so scared about AP. We've already had to move the date once. I moved it to April 2016 and I pray to God that's far enough out for him to get here. We've already sent out docs and were just waiting to hear if we got a checklist or cc.
