IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

I wonder if NVC has added another speed bump.   :bonk:

I paid the IV fee last Friday and it now shows "PAID".  However, I can't fill out the DS-260 form yet.  I believe the word "NOT STARTED" will be an active link once it's ready for me to fill out the form.   :dead:

I just called NVC and talked to Agent Max. He told me to wait for 5 business days for the system to be updated.  I couldn't help telling him, "WHAT!?  You mean I'll have to wait more after waiting for 30 business days to pay the IV fee?"   :bonk:

Now it seems like there is a speed bump at every step of the NVC process.  I'm loving NVC today!  NOT!

Sad to say I think it took me a couple of weeks seemed like a year. :(

I must say I'M REALLY PISSED OFF I GOT STUCK IN ANOTHER LONG BACKLOG and it's just not fair.  Everyone after CC will get their interview and I'll have another long wait.  I think they're trying to see if I commit suicide first. :ranting:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

Hi Group,

Just wanted to say thank you for your support throughout this difficult year with immigration.  After 16 months of this process, today at our interview we were approved.

Our initial interview was scheduled for July 21st at 6:45 am, and we arrived at 5am.  At 6:40 am(40 minutes late) the embassy finally opened where we first gave in all necessary paperwork, followed by an attempt for fingerprints only to learn that the system was down.

At 8am the embassy told us ALL INTERVIEWS for the day had been cancelled due to the AC not working and the systems being down.  All they told us was they would reach out to us at a later date via email and phone to reschedule the interviews.  I WAS PISSED!!! My flight was supposed to leave that night and I just thought MORE WAITING.

After talking with friends, my husband and I decided just to show up the next day at the embassy hoping that we would be able to get in AND WE DID!!!

The following are questions that the Immigration Officer asked us:

1.  How and when did you guys meet?  (Through Facebook)

2.  What did he think of me sending him a friend request?

3.  Does he still have Facebook?  (She asked for his email to see his page)

4.  Do we still talk through Facebook?

5.  What phone do I have? Then she asked him in spanish what phone and what phone he had.

6.  How many times did I visit?

7.  She asked him what did he do that made me want to keep coming back.

8.  Do we have kids together?

9.  How old are his kids?

10.  Do they have the same mother?

11.  Was he married before since he had two kids with two different women?

12.  She asked to see our pictures , and asked questions about the wedding.  -  How come my family didn't go, and what did we do afterwards?

13.  If he went to college, or at least finished high school?

14.  What did I study in school, and then she asked him in spanish what I studied in school. (I graduated college way before I met my husband)

15.  I took a binder of bank statements, conversations, and trips, and she asked me to give her anything that would help.

The lady was very friendly and the questions were asked almost as though we were having a conversation, you can tell she was trying to make it as comfortable as possible.

We were very upset though with how the embassy handled the situation on canceling interviews last minute and not even giving a time frame as to when they might be rescheduled.

THANK YOU EVERYBODY, whether I spoke to you or not, I was always reading everybody's comments and notes so I could learn from them.  Thank you Saylin for your advice and encouragement along the way :)

God bless you all!!

Woooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooo congratulations so happy for you both !      (F) (L) (F)

I don't think anything would sway him. I have to hope that since the question clearly states "to be completed by petitioner sponsors only", that marking it "N/A" on a joint sponsor's I-864 will not incur a checklist.

If it creates a problem, we will have to hunt for a different joint sponsor. I can't be the only sponsor since my income will not continue from the same source once I move back to the US, and I unfortunately don't have enough assets to do it that way. This is an annoying hurdle for all USCs overseas.

On the plus side, we completed the DS-260 and sent in our IV packet yesterday.  :)

Oh my I'm so sorry to hear about this and I'll be praying your father sees the light and helps you out. It's such a little thing really.   But from one that had to leave her husband due to an emergency at least you are with your loved one it's much worse being apart.  So I'm happy for you there but will be praying for you that all goes well from here on. :) (F) (L) (F)

My wife called the NVC and actually got an operator who wasn't messing her about. Her name was Karson. She explained to her what happened, all the dates we spoke to the supervisors, what other agents said etc.. It's been 26 business days now. She got in contact with supervisor Sylvia  and she said she didn't know anything about what was going on but, she was going to get in contact with the DR (document review) department to see what is bloody taking them so long. She said if we had any other questions to contact her and ask for her directly, and she would e-mail us asap when she finds out anything and gets it done. Fingers-crossed that our waiting will be done this week!!!

Oh thank God I hear she is good and get's things done.  I have everything crossed even my eyes and I fell down. :(

NVC operator wouldn't put me through a supervisor.. Said they "found" our "mail" for the checklist...!?!! I heard about this before with supervisor reviews, I'm pretty sure.. She said they need a bit more time to process our case.. and I simply said "You know it's 30 business days on Friday right?" She didn't give me an answer for that. -.-

OMG, OMG I hope you kept calling until you got a supervisor what hell!  :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:

I called Monday for my AOS scanned on June 16 Abby not in the greatest mood but nice just the same said nothing yet I said they didn't even look at it she said not yet!  WHAT is going on this is torture first they messed up and I paid for it at USCIS then the super long wait there then this OMG I'll never see my husband again.  I hate to say it since there are many in the same boat but WHY ME FOR PETE'S SAKE!  :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:  <_<

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

So, I've been thinking that maybe it's time to add some more columns to my spreadsheet. As it's now taking longer for pretty much every step, it might be beneficial to see how long it's taking for others. Before, the AOS bill and DS-261 were available pretty soon after the case number was assigned, and then the IV bill didn't take long to be invoiced after the DS-261 was submitted. But, we've all seen how that's changed. So, it may be time to add all these additional steps, as well as have calculations (like the current case number assigned to case complete date) for each step off to the side. Plus, I'm thinking it would make more sense to put the date the packages were scanned rather than when they were sent, since for some people, the packages arrive the next day while others could be a week or more, which skews the data. So, these are the columns I'm thinking about:

VJ member name

Service center I-130 was approved from

NOA2

NVC received

Case number assigned

AOS bill available

DS-261 available

AOS package scanned

IV bill available

DS-260 available

IV package scanned

If a real checklist was issued

If there was a checklist, when the response was scanned in

Case complete

Calculations for pretty much every step (to help you not have to calculate :P )

Not sure if I should put when the bills were paid and the online forms filled out. Besides, the DS-260, most people seem to pay the bills and submit the DS-261 right away, so not sure if it'd be worth to mention.

Anyways, sorry for the long post, but any thoughts on this? Anything else I should maybe add (without making the spreadsheet ridiculously long as it likely will be after all this  )?

I have no thoughts mine is a vacuous void in the immensity of the universe. :D  Plus let's face it your Yoda!  :P :pop:

The question says for petitioner sponsors only. My father, who's our joint sponsor, refused to answer the question because he is not a petitioner sponsor but a joint sponsor. (He was happy to be a joint sponsor but was very annoyed by the paperwork and forms asking him all this personal info.) We marked N/A next to the question. Will this incur a checklist?

Even if it does, I doubt I can convince my father to answer the question on a new form. Argh.

I don't know if your living with your husband in France or your in the USA but either way if he doesn't you can let him know that you will have to move to France and will rarely if ever be able to visit him.  I think he will quickly change his mind and if not can you find another co-sponsor?  Physiology is your friend. :)  (F) (L) (F)

The OP was talking about an older hand-written passport and a newer computerized one. If he goes into AP (being a young male who lived in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, he'll probably trigger the Mother of all red flags), then verifying the former would require somebody to go through dusty archives, if they were not bombed out, compared to a quick screen log. This could translate into a difference of many months.

This is some serious temptation. I admire your resolve!

I'm 6,000 miles away from the border and yet I'm itching to come over early August to attend a conference and check on our Colorado home.

Don't worry. Just mention it at the interview. Or if you want and haven't sent the IV package, then include a paragraph or two in the cover letter about it.

I sent it but was thinking of sending the added address with the explanation that I forgot to add it there were so many.   Also we lived there for almost two years so now we have to get Police Records from the Red Sea also.  What a mess this is I just want to sleep for a week. Thank you Sayling for you help.    (F) (L) (F)

SoloentaFemaleEgypt2014-07-20 22:54:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

If you haven't sent the IV packet yet, include the missing info in the cover letter there. Otherwise, mention the missed address to the CO during the interview. I think it would only be an issue if it would trigger the need for a police certificate from a totally different jurisdiction than what you provided already, or the stay was in a US address. In any case, if you stayed there less than 6 months, don't bother.

Yup we lived on the Red Sea for almost two years so I'm assuming he needs the police record from there also.  I would have to send that and the added address?  What a mess he's upset with me already for not waiting, like I didn't wait long enough already. :( :bonk:

Ok, so first time using the mobile version and then full version on my phone and I see no multi quote option. D'oh! Well hopefully this hasn't been answered, but no, it won't matter if you check off 'I don't know'. They have that option available for a reason ;)

And I currently don't have access to look at the DS-260 form, but if it's in the preparer section, I'm assuming it's referring to the preparer.

P.S. I blame my husband for making me use my phone to check this thread. I was going to on my laptop, but he was starving, so I wasn't allowed to. So here I am at Perkins, checking this thread. *insert pissed off emoticon*

OMG yes it was the preparer's section and I put his passport number not mine!   :( SHOOT ME!

I almost posted a response extremely similar to this.  We already get told every day by NVC and our bosses and whoever else what we can and can't do..... this is a public forum and we're not saying anything offensive.  If you want to learn, then ask a question, and somebody will answer it for you.  If you don't like what you're reading, go do something else.

But haters gonna hate you know.  Keep being you Soloenta, you keep it fun in here.   :energy:

Seriously I don't think we mind these posts! I actually feel sad when I come to read the thread and it's dead! So better to have some life on it even it's just chit chat. If u don't like the post just skip it. It's not hard to tell difference from personal post and posts regarding Nvc at a glance. I do it all the time! But everybody is really frustrated here and we understand each other real well, sometimes better than our family! So if someone feels better when they whine or chat here let it be.

Please think before you hit the enter button. Many people come here for a reason which is to learn more. Please add fact, value, insight and experience. Measure twice and cut once. It is getting to be overwhelming and unbearable. If you want social commentary? That is what the PM function is for. Chat all you like via PM. Do we really need to read every thought that enters your mind?

I will only say this once, if you don't like what your reading then stop reading it.  Don't come and tell us what we can and can not post. There are a lot of things I don't like but it's not my business and people have the right to express how they feel when they feel it. End of comment!

I bet they are still fast tracking the "dreamers" paperwork to drive up the number of approvals and leaving us behind. Illegals first, us last.

Very well can be and all this will do is encourage others to do the same.   How about DACA that's what really messed us up.

Did you know it's for children from birth to 30 years old?

I AM SO OFFENDED! HOW DARE YOU ADD ME AS A FRIEND?!

:P hehe kidding of course, you are approved.  If only it was that easy at NVC....

I know sometimes I just want to sit down and cry but when I think how hard my husband is working for us I have to try to stop and work to do the same.

Hahahaa you scared me for a second there hahahaaa naughty girl!  :P

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the NVC stage, I'm a Dec2013 filer my husband is the USC  and Im the aussie  applicant i have paid the AOS bill and currently gathering all our evidence to send it. I tried to pay the IV fee as well but it wont let me (I think from what ive read you have to wait til after they put in the DS-261- choice of agent info- is that correct?)

Also i have one more question as I tried asking NVC when i rang to change our address but the lady wasnt helpful at all, My husband is a permanent resident in Australia and has lived here for 6 years so I know we need a joint sponsor who will be me husbands brother but my question is do we send my husbands AOS first and wait for them to say we need a joint sponsor (which we already know) or are we able to send it all together?

thanks for any help guys :)

Welcome to the thread :) ...................  did you read the first page Saylin has it's really important to read it, it will answer many of your questions.  I try not to answer question if I can avoid it since I don't want to mess anyone up.  But I'm sure there will be people that know much more than me to help you shortly.  Much luck to you. :) (F) (L) (F)
