IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - August 2014	My husband needed a certificate of good conduct from Malaysia and we requested it online on July 16th (my husband is egyptian & lived in malaysia 2yrs & is now in egypt) A few days (5-7days) after we submitted everything.... The application status changed to "Certificate is ready for collection" so we assumed it was ready but when my husband went to the Malaysia embassy in Cairo and even had 20Malaysian ringitt, they told him its not ready and to check status online and when it changes to say "ready to pay" then he needs to go back to malaysia embassy in cairo pay the fee and they will give it to him that same day once he pats the fees...and we're still waiting for that before we send AOS & IV packages ??      OMG I hope they hurry up so you can send the packages for Pete's sake!  What is taking them so long. Why do they keep changing the dates for when the documents were received :/ Every rep gives me a different date for my packages I don't know from where to start my 60 day count I was being all positive, but now I just wanna cry. Why do I even bother calling them for, I should just quietly live through this         I'm so very sorry I know how disheartening this is.  But when you call next time ask to speak to a supervisor tell her/him every time you call you get a different scan date she/he should be able to fix the problem.  Good luck to you and chin up we are all here for you and know exactly what your feeling. So weird but anyway we filled in the DS-261 now just waiting for our AOS Bill to come up to be paid.   Quick question. I put my husband down as my agent but they will still send stuff to both of us, won't they? Have you decided yet what to do? I'm leaning towards sending it in, but scared       When I was unsure and we know NVC is iffy,  I sent an e-mail to the Embassy in Cairo with an attachment of the document and asked if it was the correct one.  They usually answer in two to three days unlike NVC weeks.  I put the e-mail from the Embassy with the document in question and sent it off. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - August 2014	Actually, something just occurred to me.  The email from the Tokyo embassy says the following:   "The Next Steps:   We will send a notice to you once we receive the immigrant visa case file from the National Visa Center. If all of supporting documents are in the file, we will schedule an appointment for your visa interview. If you need to present additional documents at time of visa interview, we will inform you.  Then, you may respond to the notice to request an appointment as soon as all documents are ready."   However, the NVC told me on the phone that all of the documents (my AoS packet) I sent to them will be sent directly back to us and to bring it to the interview.  So when the embassy says that the "case file" will be sent to them, do they mean the I-130 stuff?  Does this mean something else?  They told me that it will take until Sept. 10th to send out the files to me directly and to make a new AoS... I am really confused about what exactly the procedure is from here on out and both parties seemed to also not be very informed when I called either of them and there seems to be some conflicting information, unless I am misunderstanding the meaning of "case being transferred" vs "documents being sent".  Can anyone shed some light?     I'm sure someone has answered you but just in case that seems like  standard e-mail and yours is a special case an expedite but you should call the Embassy to make extra sure. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - August 2014	I just thought I would let you all know what happened in case anyone is curious.   I called NVC.  Got a really nice operator but forgot her name.  She told me that she actually wasn't sure about my questions regarding IV and DS-260 so she put me on hold for a couple of minutes and confirmed with her supervisor.  It turns out that I had to pay the IV online.  I have now paid the fee and it says IN PROCESS but I am still unable to do DS-260.  Most likely I have to wait for the payment to clear which will probably take a couple of days.    Here's the part that makes things complicated.  My AoS packet physically arrived at the NVC in early July but they still haven't actually even looked at it.  They are have no information on any checklists or anything.  So, they will just be sending that entire packet directly back to us and we have to bring it to the interview along with the IV packet.  The crazy part is that since they are so backed up, they won't even be able to physically ship it out to me until September 10th.  So, the operator told me that it would most likely be best to simply remake the entire AoS packet to bring to the interview.  Luckily it contained no original documents that I can't get again but I will need to print and sign all forms and everything again.  Judging by another user's timeline who recently also was expedited to Tokyo embassy, the interview will probably be roughly a month from the date they approved the expedite which was 3 days ago... so I think I will have to be on the safe side and re-gather all of the AoS documents.  It is kind of a pain but I honestly would rather do that again 10 times than have to wait several more months.   Regarding the other questions I asked: She said if ESTA visitors get temporary Alien Numbers that are later deleted, she said say yes to the question and then mark "do not know" next the number She also said to put the cell phone number in rather than check "does not apply"   Knowing all that, I think we are pretty much good to go other than gathering everything again.  Hopefully we don't make any mistakes.      Well, I'm happy you got your answers from the source and that you are well on your way.  I know it's a pain to have to do the paper work again but your almost done, not like the rest of us.  Please remember us in your prayers.      God bless you and a smooth and speedy interview with a nice CO. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - August 2014	Thanks for the replies everyone.  2 more hours and I will call NVC.   I am going over the PDF preview of the DS-260 again to make sure I have all of the information ready.  For when it asks for the intended U.S. address, we have one that we will move in to.  We will temporarily live at my parents' address until we find our own place.  Recently, my parents cancelled the land line because no one uses it, so there is no official phone number for the house and everyone has their own cellphones.  Is it better to put my father's cellphone number for the address phone number, or is it better to check the box that says "does not apply"?  I plan to ask NVC operator when I call but they might not even know depending on who answers so I just wanted to see if anyone here might know.  Thanks!       Someone will come along to answer you but I would think you would want to put your father's cell phone number so they have a number to contact.  Many people only use their cells now a days but let's see what others have to say.  Mobar is a genius so I hope he comes by soon. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - August 2014	Our case was approved for expedite and was sent to the Tokyo embassy.  I received an email from the embassy that we no longer should send any documents to the NVC and should bring them to the interview.  Also, they said that we should just pay any unpaid fees (in this case, IV fee) at the embassy and they also said to fill out DS-260.  The problem is, it won't let us fill out DS-260 until we pay the IV fee online.  The IV was invoiced the online the day after we received contact from the embassy.  This was a few days ago.  I was unable to do anything about it until today because I was traveling with a relative who was visiting.  I just called the Tokyo embassy and they said they were unsure about what to do with the fee and that I should just call the NVC and ask.  I plan to do so, but NVC won't open for about 4 or 5 hours.  I want to go ahead and just finish DS-260 right now and pay the IV fee but I worry that if I pay online it may cause problems or delays...  Does anyone know the correct course of action?  I really appreciate any help.      Yes pay the fee fill out the DS-260 and print out the receipt and take it to the Embassy to prove you paid the IV.  Others have done this with no problem and yes you have to pay the fee to fill out the form.  So the Embassy is clueless.  Happy for your Expedite wish my Embassy had been as diligent.   Just to be safe please call NVC and as Mobar stated ask for a supervisor and I'm sure they will tell you to pay it and fill it out but it's important to speak to them.      Much luck at the interview I'm sure it will go smoothly and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO your almost done!                                                                                                                                                                                                   Edited by Soloenta, 18 August 2014 - 02:55 AM. They sent me a checklist only for not filling out the AOS completely but they accepted all of my other documents and never asked for me to submit the other tax returns, so I believe you will be alright by only sending in the 2013 tax returns.       Thank you very much for clearing that one up, I'll know for sure next time.   You did everyone a great service with this. Please if anybody has the answer, share and shed the light on the issue. My current income is well above the P.G. Last year tax return, which is the only transcript I'm planning to send off, is well above the P.G as well. However, the 2011 is way bellow that guideline. That year I was still going to school and I made only 13,000.00. Do I have to send the transcript for all 3 years or only the 2013's? I see so many people ask similar question but no one really answered that. Can some one please take the talking stick? I'm all ears.       I hope someone more knowledgeable comes by to answer you but I have seen people post that they only sent the 2013 taxes and it was accepted.  But I would rather someone who has done this reply.   So just give it a little bit this is Sunday so you might get a good answer tomorrow I'm sure.  Good luck to you and yours. I filed in Sept 2013 .. worst period time period to submit a petition period for a VISA period .. BIG TIME   USCIS: jump from 5 months to 11 months average time to finish a file NVC: jump from 20 business days to 60 days   I wish the Egyptian embassy is not following the same slow pace    Hey .. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NVC Filers - August 2014	how to answer this question in interview.. who is sponsoring you?? plz      Not sure what to tell you,  is your wife your Sponsor?  Do you have a co-sponsor?  If so then your wife and the co-sponsor would be the answer.  Someone MoBar anyone correct me if I'm wrong.  I think we need a little more information, at least I do.   Got a nice letter in the mail today.. (unexpected).
