Middle East and North AfricaDO YOU REALLY NEED A CERTIFICATE OF RELIGION?
I'm confused, it says I need a certificate of Religion but no one seems to know what I'm talking about. I'm Catholic and I have no idea what they want.
If I get one which I don't think will happen does it need to be notarized? Can I just go to a notary and swear I'm Catholic?

Has anyone married in Egypt and not needed this certificate?

I hope someone can help me
out.
Thank you in advance.

 I was at the USA Egypt Embassy website and two e-mails they had there came back FAILED. E-mails I found at the site are ConsularCairoNIV@state.gov and cairoiv @state.gov. My question is does anyone know the correct e-mail or is this typical of what
happens? I wonder when it works do they ever answer back, just a thought.

Thank you in advance for any information anyone might have to share.

Middle East and North AfricaOnline filing Cairo Egypt? Me CONFUSED!
:help:So sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I was at the US Egypt Embassy website and read you can file online but it doesn't explain how. i presume they mean to download the form fill it out and send it via e-mail or am I wrong? Also not sure of the e-mail to send it to if there they have one. I sent the Embassy an e-mail asking them but all they did was send me the link I was at  which only confused me to begin with. I'm not usually this dense but I'm stressed just thinking of filing. I will be sending God willing the I-130 then they will send me I believe the CR-1. Can we file online or via e-mail for all the form or just the I-130. Also do we pay when we finally are at the interview? See I"m totally confused and they don't mention any of this at their site. Hope someone can help me out I'm so nervous I can't stand it.

1. How do we file online?

2. Can all forms be sent online for the Egyptian Embassy in Cairo?

3. Do we pay the fees at the time of the interview or online?

4. Are forms sent via e-mail?

5. What is the correct e-mail to send the forms to?
6. Someone shoot me NOW please, I can pay!:bonk::blink:

Thank you in advance for any help you can give this doofus before she sticks her foot in her mouth. Oops too late! :hehe:

Hi Menagirl, my husband is Egyptian and he never leaves the house and I love it. Only to buy groceries , work etc. Men are men but my advise is to talk to him. I for one would like my husband to be with me most of the time and be home by the time I get home if I'm working. Weekends should only be for the both family only but that's just me. Communication is the key to everything. Much luck to you sweet heart and all is well just have to talk to him. :bonk:JK. ;)

Thank you so much togetherforever13 and SarahandAnis for this information wish we could pay it at the

I bank at a Credit Union but don't have my own checks so not sure how to do this. I'll have my brother
do this for me.

Thank you again for all your help I do so very much appreciate it. (F)

Middle East and North AfricaSending I-130 but how the heck do I pay for it?
I tried to get information form the Egypt Embassy in Cairo via e-mail but they just send me what I
read to begin with so no help from them as usual.

So I came to VJ where I know there is a wealth of information. So sorry to constantly ask for information but I have no where else to turn.

When in the USA I live in California so if not mistaken I send everything to the
Phoenix AZ
Lockbox but how do I pay for this when I'm living in Egypt? Do they allow us to pay for everything
at the interview with a credit card? I'm on the Red Sea so not in Cairo just in case.

I'm so nervous wish they could put me to sleep until all this is over, my worst problem right now is
I hate to have pictures taken of me so we don't have much. I just hope we don't make any mistakes
so we can get this show on the road. :ot: Yes I know but I'm NERVOUS! Hugs to you all kind
and loving humans. (F)(L)

Yay! Just got the letter in the mail for hubbys interview date. July 19th it is! That is my baby brothers birthday & my oldest sisters birthday! Im excited for dear hubby! I know there are several of us from this MENA forum who's hubbies are going through this part of the process & I wish all of them the best!

Hi PalmTreeGurl, sorry haven't been on much my internet here on the RS isn't great at the moment. Congratulations to both of you and

Hi PalmTreGurl, in a nut shell my husband thought it was the right thing to do since the law states that 50% are to
be elected from the recognized parties and the other 50% from people with no party affiliation. The Muslim Brothers
ran on both sides which is why they were the majority. With this law they can only have 50% no more. So it was unlawful
what they did. Hope I didn't mess this up but there you go.

Middle East and North AfricaDo I have to have TRANSLATIONS done in Cairo and........

May I ask for what you need these translations? Translations are needed at the USCIS stage (i.e. marriage, divorce decrees, etc) otherwise, if its for the docs at the NVC stage, then translations not needed.

Hi Meno-is-mine thank you for your post. I'm filing the I-130 and it states that the marriage certificate and my husbands
birth certificate are to be sent with a translation if not in English.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer this question. :) (F)

Translation service is cheaper in Egypt. Check are made to: The Department of Homeland Security if filing K1, if other forms someone else can chime in on this. Good Luck :)

Thank you very much Tru_Loves_Journey, I'm filing ( sorry forgot to add this) I-130 and I live in Hurghada so
we just can't go to Cairo all the time. I'm just wondering if it matters if we go to the places you graciously put here from
the Embassy for Cairo addresses, or can we use another not on their list or in Cairo. I just found out we can renew my
Visa here in Hurghada so why not have our documents translated here but don't know if they will accept it. I don't see
why not but then these aren't normal circumstances.
Hummm Tru Love I think "The Department of Homeland Security" just might be right but hope someone can say for
sure on both these questions.

Are these cats just available to the UK or to the US as well?

Hi Beauty, all cats are available to the UK, USA, all over the world, problem is there are many cats waiting for escorts to take them
to the UK so if you want one you most likely will have to travel to Egypt unless you know someone coming
to visit and will take your new cat back to you. They need a lot of escorts to the UK.

I do believe they adopt all over the world.

Let us know if you adopt a putty tat and maybe you can put it's picture up here for us to see. Much luck
I know you wont regret it if you adopt one of these sweet cats.

You may also try contacting local Universities and Islamic Centers for escorts. The Universities have Muslim Student Organizations. Right now there is a lot of coming and going since college is starting back up for some exchange students. The local University here starts back up Sept. 24th. When school let out for the summer we sent three bags of things to Egypt through students and professors going back home.

Middle East and North AfricaURGENT HELP NEEDED in Egypt
(F)Hi everyone, hope It's ok to post here?.

I recently found a website EMRO Egyptian Mau Rescue Organization in Cairo http://www.emaurescue.org/
I adopted a beautiful little Mau called Ameena. (L) You can see her at the adopted section.

What I am requesting is if anyone is traveling to Egypt for vacation or is in Egypt now and going back home if you would be willing to Escort and adopted cat to the USA, UK etc to it's forever home? They do offer a $50 tip to escorts but to be honest they need all the money they can get. After the revolution they have lost most of their volunteers so they are strapped. Most cats have been waiting a long time for an escort and they need all our help. I'll be escorting cats or a cat when I get to go back home but not sure when that will be.

Escorts to the UK is URGENT there are many cats waiting to go home to the UK and have been waiting for a very long time. If you know anyone coming to Egypt from the UK please let them know about this urgent need.
Escort is easy and of no cost to the escort at all.

http://www.emaurescue.org/index.php

If you can't escort a cat to their forever homes maybe you can give a donation, they are non profit and the more money they have the more cats they can rescue.

If you would like to adopt a cat that would be wonderful, the very best way to help and if you can spread the news of this place we might just make a dent, all of us together to help these little angel's have a great life.

They have contact e-mails you can send for information and they answer you right away. They are lovely ladies with huge hearts.

Middle East and North AfricaOlder American woman Younger Algerian man

Only YOU can make the decision about what you are are going to do... The visa journey is much different than  post greencard and post citizenship..

If you do not have alot of money in the bank or a house that can be attached, you do not have much to lose. However, my advice for anyone with a lot of assets is that they get a pre nuptual or a post nuptual agreement protecting assets in the event of a split. It can help the homeowner alot to keep property separate.. There are some of these relationships that will work but there are also a lot of younger men who will pretend to be in love to get the hell out of a bad situation. This is the reality and the reason for the high AP and long waits at these embassies. They see things we dont see. Returning US petitioned spouses returning to petition Moroccan and Algerian wives after they have naturalised and they know culturally what is going on , often more than we do.. My spouse was NOT put through AP. I wish he would have been so that I could have been spared alot of what he did. My present boyfriend, also Algerian was petitioned by a US wife in 2008. She had no idea culturally what to expect and literally threw away his greencard when it arrived and would not give him any of his immigration papers. Its not always the immigrant who is bad. Its also the petitioners who sometimes act like they are buying a puppy, not getting married. I see things from both sides and the only real warning I have is asset protection. If you do not have any assets nor will you inherit them, you have nothing to lose. However for example. if you have a house in Florida, your foreign born spouse gets rights under the Florida Homestead Law which is a 25000 off the tax exemption. I was unable to see my house or refinance when I was married without my husbands permission I had a substantial amount of equity and I was told by two attorneys that he had rights to a percentage of how much my house was worth upon marriage till we divorced and he ( my ex) knew that as well and when I told him I wanted a divorce he told me I wont give you one and Ill take your house if you dont help me finish my papers.I literally was forced to stay married two years legally past the point I wanted to over money. If I had a pre nuptual this would not have happened. But I never imagined the father of my child and man I fought so hard for would ever hurt me...

Its been 10 months since I got divorced and I have dated two people since I got divorced..One for about 2 weeks and then three months later I met my boyfriend. He has been the biggest help in getting over this because the experience was so horrible and so painful, I carried a lot of pain inside and started questioning my whole life... The one thing is that this guy ALREADY has papers and hes one year younger and I know when we are together that he needs nothing from me except my presence..Had I NOT married my husband and gone through what I went through I would have never met him and both he and I went through our own private hells, Me with an Algerian and him with an American. Which to me is crazy irony! I just advise anyone with assets to make sure they protect them. I did not and it caused me alot of problems when I wanted to leave the relationship. I only had an 11 year difference and still was able to have children but I was unaware of the depth of what was going to happen once he got here. It was a holy hellish night mare from the week he got off the plane until I was able to get rid of him..

I agree if you have assets to have a pre nuptial, but in California and other states if you inherit anything it is not divided with the spouse.  Bank accounts if not part of the inheritance yes, car/cars etc.  But thank God in Ca your home is yours in this case. But by all means a pre nuptial would be the way to go.  Good luck.

Middle East and North AfricaAnyone Else Married / Engaged To An Egyptian?

Welcome to the boards MiaAndSabry,  about your husbands father visiting, just make sure no shorts, tight
pants, cleavage etc and make sure to ask your husband what would offend his father since we are all
individuals no matter where we are from. Good luck and congratulations and much happieness.

I am also married to an Egyptian since Oct/16/2011 was with my husband for two years before I had to come home to

take care of my parents who are both in ill health.  I for one love Egypt but hate the temperature just to hot for me but I

love the people very much.   They where very kind and sweet to me and no one dare even stare at me while I was with

my husband.  Never went out alone and after we married in Cairo we went to live in Hurgahda my husband is from Upper

Egypt the largest city in that region.

Your very lucky you wont have to deal with the Egyptian Embassy in Cairo they are just ruthless, disrespectful and nasty.

I know the reasons why but there is no good reason to act this way with anyone.

The wait is long I originally sent my I-130 in March of 2013 but I didn't sign the papers they sent it back then they sent

them back to me to resign a blank one have no idea what that was about but when I called it was their mistake.  Now

instead of not losing my place in like they promised the date was changed to June 2014 have been waiting 9 months now

to be aproved God willing and so far nothing.  So if your husband can stay with you during this torture the better.

LizzieBee wish there was a better place than FB and wouldn't mind you e-mailing me when you want to
talk or call.  Does anyone know of a better place to talk?  Maybe Yahoo messenger or Skype?  Not crazy

about FB and canceled my husbands page since I was the only one using it.

Welcome Elchelle :)

Hey Bluevelvet not on VJ often but remember your lovely posts.

It's only one regular birth certificate sufficient for nvc, your husband can get it from his city, and he should certify it from foreign affairs.

Middle East and North AfricaLooking for help please - Egypt

Hello all,

I am looking for some help please for those who have or are going to interview at the embassy in Cairo. My wife received a letter indicating that she has an interview on August 17 for her K3 application. Prior to that letter neither my wife or I have received any communication from the embassy indicating what she needs to prepare and bring with her. The only thing they have sent (finally after countless emails by me) is that she needs to complete her medical examination. Everything I have sent them I have sent through my own research.

I know that they have the approved K3 packet sent by the national visa center. I also sent the I-134 form, my personal information, last 3 years of tax transcripts.

I am hoping they have everything they need since they haven't indicated that they need anything else (however, through my dealing with the embassy I have found them very uncaring, rude and dismissive)

I should also mention I have an approved I-130 currently being processed at the NVC (still in initial stages, 2-3 months to go i believe) and was quite surprised that the embassy even scheduled this interview.

Can anyone please share with me a checklist of things my wife should bring with her to this interview? Perhaps someone can send me a screenshot of their packet 3 and packet 4 letters?

I thank you all so much in advance for your help, and hope all of you are united with your loved ones soon if not already.

Either you or your wife need to call or e-mail the Embassy and tell them you have not received anything and when the interview is.  They will send you all the information you need.  You do need the medical and choose from one of the Dr's on the Embassy in Cairo's list under marriage.   Just remember not to open the package from the Dr or you will have to do it over again.  If your wife needs vaccinations it's best to go to a reputable clinic before she goes to the medical because they are extremely expensive at the Dr the Embassy has on their list.  Remember your wife needs to go to the Medical exam no later than two weeks before the interview.

Yes the monsters at the Embassy are horrible and the way they act is inexcusable!  Much luck to you and your wife. (F)

This is the best e-mail to use usually takes two to three business days to reply but you will get the list of things you need in the e-mail and remember they will have on the list the original documents but since you already sent them in to NVC you wont need them.  If you have copies of them that would be great to take just in case.

Middle East and North AfricaThe border is completely destroyed . Any suggestions ?

Hello, and my heart is broken with what is happening in Palestine my prayers are with you and all who are suffering.

It's to dangerous for you to try to cross to Jerusalem and Egypt is not a good Embassy to go to nor is it safe to try to cross the boarder there.  Is there any way you can leave to another country?  You can have our interview anywhere in the world and would be good to ask the Embassy to make sure.   I still think you should stay still but your still in danger no matter what you do.  I can't even begin to try to put myself in your place.

Do you go and face danger?  Do you stay and face danger?  I wish I could fly you our and everyone else there.

Can you travel to Amman Jordan then go to the US Embassy there for help?  Ok don't listen to me I have no idea, just wish I could help.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI want to add my husband to our car title but..................

You can add him to the insurance. Married couples normally get a lower rate.

Great idea wouldn't mind a break on car insurance ty so much. :)

Title to the car is about who owns it,  never added my husband to the re existing vehicles even after he came to the US.  Never added him to the houses.  No problem with immigration.

Thank you just thought it could help since I was (was) going to do it anyway.  It's not as easy now as it was just a year ago it seems.  Thank you for your insight.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI want to add my husband to our car title but..................

He doesn't need to be in the title. If a bank has a lien on the vehicle, it could be a big hassle to add someone else to the title.

He only needs to have a drivers license and to be on the insurance policy as a driver in order to drive the car with no issues.

I see there is no lien but I guess it's better to wait until he get's here.  I just always have the need to do things right away and not leave anything for later.  But I do see your point. :) Ty again.

I have a question if any one can answer it for me plz i have only one name,no last name in my name. Problm is i had to collect police certificate from 4 different countries but in Arab countries like UAE (dubai) they alwayz add your father name after your name, so in my dubai police certificate they added my father name too. So now it looks like i have 3 name.. i am afraid will nvc give me check list saying how come i have different name in dubai police certificate.

Please be patient someone that knows will come by to answer you or you might want to put the question on Saylin's thread also see who answers first.  Link on first post. (L)

i just spoke to an operator at the NVC who informed me that as of today all packages will be reviewed based on the most recent scan date. I.E I have an IV pkg scan date 8/8 and an AOS checklist correction scan date of 8/15 then I sent in a document that I realized I forgot for my IV on 9/9 so nothing now will be looked at until 9/9. So those 60 day wait to reveiw that I received when I submitted my IV and checklist now do not apply.

I think it's been this way all along but so sorry you will have to wait longer. :(  They need to hire more people!  (L) (L)

Your plate is too full at the moment, so I can't blame you. Seriously, your friend eloped to Cypress to get married and her husband is back in the US. Couldn't she maintain that covert operation for the time being? Being from Egypt, it is extremely difficult for her to get even tourist visas to almost anywhere... judging from what my Egyptian friends tell me.

Thank you and I thought the same thing that she could just be quiet about it but I don't know specifics of her situation.   You can go to Ecuador without a visa I know that for a fact stay up to 3 months then apply for a visa to stay longer. She has that option and I know someone there that might be able to help not sure.  I think the problem is money and finding a job for her unless her husband can send her some money.  If she rents just a room then it's doable because food is cheap there.  Also if she was Muslim we have Mosques in at least three major cities there and Halal restaurants so for Egyptians that want to travel or what ever it would be easy.  Plus it's very beautiful there lush green with the view of the snow covered volcanoes it's breath taking and the people are so nice.  :) I wish I was there right now. :D  (L) (L)   A  big plus is that her husband can visit her it's not expensive to fly there would be ideal.

I don't want to sound like a doubting Thomas, but I skinned my eyes again on the I-130 form and can't find the 5-year addresses question you're referring to. Which item number is it? Maybe it's obsolete with the latest version, now that the question appears in the newly introduced DS-260?

In any case, I agree  with anuspras... you need to list it in the DS-260 anyway.

You posted about this case sometime ago, dear, and I did respond to the OP then. Either she needs to wait till her PD becomes current or investigate a different petition category... asylum, perhaps, as her husband successfully did for himself earlier.

I'm so sorry MoBar my brain is scrambled eggs can't think much until I hear from Octavio.   (L) (L)

I thought her petitioning for Asylum was the best way to go also since she is in real immanent danger if her family finds out. :( Trying to find a safe haven until then wonder if that would mess up thing?  I mean if she moves to a safe country see can't think.
