Are any of the fiancees out there claiming, if any, their deposit into the govt SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig. After all most of us will give up our PI citizenship.. Is this hard to do?

Hi fellow Vjers,

I would like to share with you my experience with Pag-Ibig. A month before my visa interview date (Feb 13), I dropped by Pag-Ibig to follow up the processing of refund of my brother who had moved to Canada and is now a citizen. In the process of waiting for the check to be released and filling up the waivers and quitclaim, I sort of quipped that I am also planning to stay in the USA if I get a fiancee visa.

The lady Ms. Pearl was so gracious to inform me that I just need to present my fiancee visa and accomplish some of the forms including a history of the dates and employers so they can trace your benefits. And this is just so easy...they even have the affidavit form that you just fill out and have it notarized, attach a photocopy of your visa, and in 3 days, you get a check in your name as refund of your contributions.

I am still amazed at their efficiency.

And for the SSS refund, they need to see that you are already 60 years old and you will have to open a bank account for them to deposit your benefits, and after one month, they will make out the check to you and they will credit your bank account monthly for your pension.

I have no idea about Philhealth.

Feel free to call me at 09229224000 until March 3. I leave on March 4 for Wisconsin for a wedding on March 10.

Maria

I asked refund too. I had 65 months of contribution,I claimed it the day before I left Iligan City.As for my SSS and Phil health,I'll continue paying it as voluntary payee. :P

hi mar, how come i havent shared it to you? It's my 3rd time to avail Page ibig loan Cos my co-teachers always encouraged Us, they say other people will use our contributions.I'm not sure if there's an online transaction, but I do Know, someone can claim your contribution but you will be the one who will apply the loan.Try asking them. Tell your family to inquire for you. They have phone numbers in the directory.Sayang din yun.

Hey guys, just a quick question here, is there a number at the US Embassy here in Manila that you can call to check the status of your visa after you have been interviewed? I am kinda wondering if there is such a number aside from the call center number that they have. Any information you guys can provide will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hello karen,remember me?i remember u well :)

the embassy will not entertain questions unless u have a written inquery, that's what is said on their site. Frank sent a letter (fax) asking for early release of our visa and it was released on feb 20,after my interview last feb 16. delbros delivered it on feb 23 and i flew to US. I couldnt believe im here now with my honey ;) here's the contact numbers.hope this helps u:

i wish u luck for ur journey!

Hey Fel, who could have forgotten YOU and all those LOVELY PEOPLE at the dinnner that we had? Hehehe. Thanks for the information anyway, I'll try to tell my fiance what you guys have done and maybe we may opt to do that as well. But don't you think its to early? I just had my interview February 21, I'm still kinda thinking of waiting until tommorow February 27, if I still don't get any news from Delbros then I guess that's the time to send them a written inquiry. By the way, do you mind sharing to me the letter that you guys sent to the embassy? Thanks is advance.

Best wishes to you both!

hello karen,

the letter was a convincing one as what ate anna has said hehe...he asked me to prepare the letter for him.i made it simple and sent to franko ,then he sent it over to the Phil,USE. (fax)I think u dnt need it cos ur visa might be around tomorrow. It's feb 26 here in Cali.well, just like to share my letter hehe

i indicated my case number then the reason. It was a brief letter. I typed as if i was Franko, requesting for early release of the visa because his fiance (arrived in Manila for the first time) was alone, far from her family and love ones. His concern of my safety and needed to come and join him in california as soon as possible. Though i had my plane tickets already for US, i didnt mention it. Only to Delbros :)

mmm 7 days is enough for u to wait for ur visa.
That if u r really in a hurry like me :) inquire Delbros, once they have ur visa, it will take few days to deliver it to u if ur in manila.

Goodluck!

HIPW! update me ;)feb 23,received my visa ,in M.Manila

wanna share this:

frank sent a letter to the embassy (fax) requesting early release of our visa and it has been granted. Sad to say, DELBROS has it for 3 days, instead of delivering it to me in one day (they said by the time the embassy released the visa, they will send it for just 1 day) sigh :( I received a text message yesterday that my visa was coming, but all i got was disappointments...called them many times (339-2761) and even tried to pick up my visa, but they wont allow that. So they promised me to deliver it today, and got it! Last night, the delivery man texted me and he said he'll deliver my visa first before the others ;) MMMM their reason was that,we had miscommunications, they delivered the visa in Makati where i previously addressed my visa delivery after my interview (feb 16), but i changed it to Ermita last saturday (feb 17) and got the confirmation from them that they had my address changed. So, it was a case of negligence to their part for they had received my fax of request and i always called them to follow -up the new address ive given and they said, it was all ok.

Guys,we can call them to be sure they have done their part well and to make some follow-ups even if they noted on the paper they gave us that they entertain text messages only. But that if u cant wait to have ur visa like me hehe, and i got a lot of queries..still, i appreciate Delbros for considering my case :) Many thanks for them!

My flight is tonight at 10pm ,PAL ,non stop flight to LAX... ill see u tonight mari :) at the airport.

Good luck to all of US and GOD bless us always!

Well, for me it was because Florenda lives in Cagayan de Oro and waiting for delivery would have been risky given that we are leaving on 2/23. I small delay in the delivery would mean rescheduling flights.

Hi Gary and Florenda! How are you guys? I will be flying to SFO too on 2/23 via PAL as ive been granted visa pickup and hoping to receive a call on tuesday from the USE. Wheres your POE?

It was very nice meeting you both in person.

Regards,
Mari

Yes it was meeting you too. Maybe we will see you at the airport. We're on CO a 11:10PM to LAX.

Hi eric and marie!

now my interview is next week and im getting nervous...worried about a few things:

my fiance is self-employed, he gave me his 3yrs ITR and 3 yrs W-2 plus letter with the letterhead and his position in his own office. He sent his bank statements and a letter also, but in his last 12months statement (up to Dec.), his remaining bal is not that much. He has spent his savings for some important things. Would this affect my interview?

also, age gap would really contribute to AR? worried huhu

fel

Hey Fel,

My statement was very low also, but the also had list a Average Daily Balance on it. But it was not asked for for our case.

El was asked about our age gap, but we have no idea if that was why we were put under our AR.

Victor

thanks Vic, hope everything will be alright... i even include ur application be out from AR in my prayers

Ive talked to El last time :) ...she is so blessed and very happy having someone so like u. :)

thanks to those who replied :) made me calm hehe i appreciate it much.

I don't an age gap would contribute to AR unless they have other some reason to suspect a sham. It's not unusual to see 20-30 year gaps in Fil-Am couples, but I suspect 30-40 years might cause some additional scrutiny. I think a gap of say, 50-60 years would cause some real investigation!

Correct, the DS-230 is for the immigrant visa (CR-1,IR-1), not the K1/K3 which are non-immigrant.

Oh #######, no DS-230 required for K1? Where did I get that idea from? :ranting:

My fiance bought Visa/Immigration guide books (1 for me and 1 for him) and on it they said DS 230 will be required but i dont see it on my instruction packet and i dont see anyone mentioned it before here on visajourneyso i thought i dont need it, until Garya mentioned it earlier so I panicked (even though im still 1 week away from my interview..- OH my gosh, 1 WEEK nalng!!!)

by the way, the book wasnt as helpful as Manila thread. We're thinking of selling it on ebay.. hahaha

my name is a "hit" on nbi records but they put "no record on file"...should i still secure explaination from nbi why my name hits?

it's really me on the record...about the DOST scholarship...scholars are not allowed to go abroad unless they have returned service for them for 2 years...unfortunately, i didnt availed the scholarship. With supporting certificate from DOST stating that i didnt avail it, nbi released a clearance for me.

ill bring the certificate during my interview. Would this be enough to support my nbi clearance or it would not be needed? im afraid of AR for this . it really bothers me...

Hi Fel,

Only the four (4) notations below require a letter of explanation from NBI:

1) No Criminal Record
2) No Criminal Conviction
3) No Pending Case
4) With Derogatory Record

NBI will not issue a letter unless your notation is one of the 4 mentioned above. I tried to get a letter last year from NBI to explain "No Derogatory Record" because I wanted to cover all bases but NBI refused. Ang kulit ko no?

Oh, by the way, did you put the purpose for NBI clearance as "for travel to USA" or "for travel abroad"? I think NBI has different notations for different purposes.

I suggest bringing your certificate from DOST just in case.

I hope you can join us in our get-together.

PW

Hi PW,

I need your expertise again. I know we already talked about the thumb print. But it also says not valid without dry seal. We don't see any kind of seal on Sheryl's NBI. I guess you could assume the NBI "seal" that is printed on the paper is it. But we are not sure. Wondering if there is some other seal they put on it.

Thanks,

Dean

hi,

it s a dry seal.my seal is not so clear too.check the lower left corner of the paper, i only see half of the seal on my paper :(

but i think it s ok...right PW?

My fiancee's medical is coming up this friday. I printed her a post regarding what to bring with her for the medical. On this list, were 3 passport pictures. We wonder if there is a difference between the passport pictures and visa pictures that we submitted with her K1 petition. Is the specifications for the passport pictures are the ones that came with the packet 4 documents? i recall while i was in PI that there were instructions on the photos. Aloha for your responses.

hi b.d.,

i had my medical exam last jan 25, and these were asked from me:

-photocopy of the appointment letter(this would be submitted to them along with ur results)
-passport (photocopy ur passport for keeps, u may need it when u fill up the ds156, if ur not done w/ it yet)
-3 visa pics(2x2 pics)
+dnt forget a ballpen :)

the guard will ask the appointment letter, both the original & the photocopy, they will stamp the original then keep it for interview...the copied one will be attached to the forms they will give u along with ur passport and prepare a visa pic with ur name at the back. The guard will give u the number for the reception area but after u fill up the forms (check properly if all checked items were answered) u can directly have a video capturing of ur face :) the other 2 visa pics will be asked when u get the result on the second day. dnt forget to write ur name at the back.

after the reception area---run fast! i arrived at 8:30 cos i came from DFA to retrieve my renewed passport, but i was first to finish than those who came earlier...vick's el came at 6:30, but i finished earlier than her :) i went first to the floor where people were too many, the xray (3rd flr) then when i went to 4th flr for blood test/urine, there were only 6 of us :) that made us work fast...

1st day is firt come first served bases...names are called in groups.when ur name is called last, run fast so u will come first on line, others may not be around cos they will have lunch, i suggest bring biscuitS with u..time wasted would not be regained...it s worth to sacrifice for a day, in exchange for a life with ur love one eternally :) hehe u may have ur lunch and just come back right away...tell them that ur name has called and ull be entertained right away.

2nd day is not cos it depends on the person working on ur result...luzy c. came very early than me on the 2nd day for her son's vaccination and result , i went there at 12:30(they will tell u when to come back), had my vaccination after her son was called and got my result ahead of her around 5pm :)

well, the effort we exerted were all the same, finished earlier or late doesnt matter...what matters most is that we finished it with a big smile in our faces :) it s worth the waiting !

fel

p.s.
i still want to scream out loud! mmm after the interview, scream with me mari ok? :)

well, it s about my NBI clearance...i have one since april 2006, my interview is on feb...do i need to get a new one which is recent and closer to my date of interview?

clearance here in Phil is good for one year, so mine is not expired yet...buut. just want to make sure if the USE would require me a recent one..

thanks,

fel

Hi Fel,

I think I read it somewhere that it should be a recent as 6 months, so I would recommend getting another one just to be on the safe side. :star:

And, just a reminder, the NBI clearance needs to be stamped "for foreign travel" or "for US travel", or something like that.

gary and steve,

thanks...what about my police clearance?it s good for 6 months here and i got mine last november ...

thanks again

hey fellow philippine vj'ers, just thot i'd pass this along...if ur having trouble contacting your loved one/family/frenz n d philippines, they are having sum kind of nationwide telecommunications problem right now, including no internet service. from reading n another post it appears 2 b affecting other areas n asia, maybe due 2 the earthquake, or maybe some computer virus that spread thru all the telecom providers. not sure the cause, but there is a problem of some sort.

Yes, it's bad. Apparently some phone cables were cut when the earthquake hit off the coast of Taiwan. The news said this could take 2 or 3 weeks to fix. :help:

my wife just called me, she said d latest info there is it wil take abt 5 days 2 repair. lets hope 4 a speedy fix

I did notice an unusual number of disconnects last night when I was online with Mira. She has Bayantel DSL. The phone line was bad too. But at least land line, mobile and internet were working even if sparodic in Butuan City region.

my intyernet connection now is so fast!last night and the other day, i experienced disconnection.i cant even call manila to check hotels. :( but good thing my fiance still can contact me through the cellphone...i miss him so much!
bayantel has badly affected, pldt and other company are sill affected but not that much, internet is still working but just experience disconnections not all the time...mine is my dsl...i fell asleep last night waiting to reconnect!

EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. Letters, e-mails, phone records, bank records,
Photographs, or other evidence of a genuine fiancé(e) relationship should be submitted

We are going nuts with all the proof we have, we wish too trim down how much she needs to bring. 100 of pages of proof is too much?

Chats, emails, phone records, photos, Xoom and WU receipts (support fo her and he son) 129f, packet 4 forms

Chats we are picking 4 of month. (some is over 20 pages each)

Emails we don’t use a lot, maybe forwarding things.

Photos: 3 trips, our travels, our engagement party, many family photos

Xoom and WU receipts: trying too bring all

129f copy (required) with NOA1, 2, NVC, manila receipts.

Packet 4 forms with copies 134,156,156k,157. (did we miss any?)

Less have a month too finish that mess. Any ideas on what other did?

Thanks

lol it s a burden for me to carry all papers! i printed almost everything of our proofs, prepared a lot, but learned here that too much of something is not that good hehe well, we have different cases here, but still, i am going to bring a little of everything...but strong proofs!

refer to my signature, to see what ive prepared ;) we got similar proofs/papers already

best of luck!

btw, my fiance will book flights for me for medical exam(jan 22-31) and interview on feb 15-16,(2 round trip tickets)...cebu pacific is ok :) they got a promo for christmas...

oh sorry to hear bout lila, read it here too...i believe everything will be ok, everything has a reason and it always gives us lessons to learn. Lila's case is helpful to all of us.Let's pray for her, for the smoothness of the process.

hope she can have the interview on the 28th...
hope the results are becoming clear and negative of any disease...if not, we should accept that she needs medication, thus more delays (patience is a virtue :)oh no, let s try to be optimistic!
best of luck and GOD BLESS to all of us here...

especially to Lila. you can do it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

ooppps i read about xoom here...we also use xoom, both the express sending and the regular one...takes 24 hrs for the former and 2-5 days for the latter.the charge is half to that of western union if regular, but express sending is still cheaper...i got an account so it's sent to my account/atm directly. That if u can wait and if money is not that really for use right away :)
