we are going to mexico for Christmas this year. airline tix are expensive. 900 + direct round trip from Sacramento and Gudalajara per person.

We ended up buying Soutwest tix for the Sacramento to San Diego portion. we will cross the border on foot. then catch a flight from Tijuana to guadalajara via Alma airline. Total cost for the two of is < 800. Mkaes for a long day trip what the heck, we consinder it part of traveling. :D

Glad to have found a Mexico thread!! I was wondering if anyone can help me find some timelines for a IR-1 Visa. Im just waiting for my case to be approved at NVC and sent to CJ Embassy. I want to know about how long for an interview date?? I can find many IR-1 timelines for mexico and it would really help me plan everything better if I had an idea.
Thanks for any help!

beckib :star:

If you search a bit, you'll find an old thread regarding timelines - slightly outdated but still a good source of information.

For an immigrant visa (I-130 without I-129 filed) it takes one year for an interview date from the time the file reaches the CDJ consulate. If you file the I-129F along with the I-130 (resulting in a K3 NON-immigrant visa and requiring AOS in the US later), it takes between 4-6 months to get an interview date.

really the only timelines that matter are the ones that are slightly ahead of you. you can tell if things are slowing down or speeding up. my timeline (see below) is probaly not much use since it reflected last year's situation. I think there is a timeline thingie around here. I'll see if I can find it.

good luck!

No seria malo.

You can see my time line for more details. Also, on the left hand side under everyone's ID, you will see what country they are processing from, click on it and from there find the timelines of ppl going through that country.

Feel free to ask me any questions regarding the process. I'll try my best to answer.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaMexican Girlfriend Tourist Visa
it is tough. we invited one of ana's niece's last year to visit. went through all the good stuff. they gave her a temporary travel visa stamp(??? not sure what it was. jsut a stamp in her passport saying she had permission to travell the US of a for 3 monuths). This year we did the same thing but this time the gave her a 5 (or 10, i forget) year b2 travel visa. Oh, and i almost forgot, the point is that she comes from a family with very little resoureces, is a minor so no banking info , let alone real estate. Yet, they gave her a visa. i guess they figured she is a good bet to return to Mexico becuase of her family ties.

sorry I cn't give you advice on how to proceed.

good luck!

kitkat gave you pretty much all of the info. all of the ppl i know from mexico with b2 visas have steady jobs.
one question to ponder would be what would be the ramifications be if she applied and was denied the tourist visa? Specifically, would it hinder any future visa application?
Another option would be for you to visit when you can. If you decide toget married, then file for k1 or k3/cr1 depending on how you want to handle it. it isn't the perfect answer but that is what a lot of ppl do.

kicking.gif We got approved!! wwooohhoooo!!!!!!! kicking.gif

Us going through Argentina are so lucky, honest. They scheduled the appointment very fast, and the interview was very relaxed, it even seemed like I was talking to a friend. It helps a lot that you submit your papers before the interview, and they'll even tell you if there's anything missing, so when you get to the interview, you just worry about talking
(and those poor martyrs putting up with us, argentine SOs, know how much we like to talk laughing.gif )

I also understand that it helped us a lot that I had a valid tourist visa, because it's no brainer that if we were out to commit fraud, we could have just used that visa.

But I still think that if you've got no red flags, and submitted everything you need...then the embassy is fair and you'll have no problems good.gif

Caro

CHE BOLUDO !
A GRINGO'S GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING THE ARGENTINES

When your Argentine friend shows up late to meet you and tells you "Che chabón, no sabés! se cagó la chata en la loma del orto y nos quedamos en bolas!" Do you wish you had paid more attention in Spanish class? No worries, it wouldn´t have helped you anyway. This book will. Argentines speak a different type of Caste-shh-ano that can leave even the most fluent of gringos struggling to keep up. "Che Boludo!" will not only provide a few laughs but really help you understand just what all of these chamuyeros are talking about.

note: I was going to get it for Justin but it's filled with bad words laughing.gif

Saludos,

good luck with the interview. we did the cr1 interview and it was easy. rule of thumb is that they look for signs that you are not a real couple. if you go prepared and since your sincerity will shine through, you will have no problem. Now if you are a fraud and start to sweat.. problema! No te preocupes. Les va ir bien. Che. tongue.gif
