There is a column for Received IV and a separate column for the DS-230 - so not sure what you mean?

Yes, there is no one 'formally' updating this anymore, but you can make the update yourself if you like

To update just use Reply on the last posting of the timeline. It will look all wrong in the reply screen - but it will post correctly. The easiest way to update is to copy and paste from another person's timeline who has the next step displayed already.

Also, when you update you need to remove the 'quote' info at the top and the bottom - so the list doesn't end up in a quote box.

Another thing that is helpful, just before you post, at the bottom (above the post button) is a check box that says 'enable signature'. Remove the check from this box so your signature doesn't appear below the table.

No program required. To update just find the last posting of the correct timeline. Hit Reply and remove the quote etc above the timeline table, then remove the quote in parentheses at the bottom.

Then you just change your information, it's easier to cut and paste from someone elses dates and then you will have the colors right. When you hit Reply the table will look like a nice jumbled out of line mess - but it should come back in to line when you post. To make sure just use the Preview button to double check.

Also, it's a good idea to remove the check from the "Enable Signature" before you post, so your signature doesn't appear at the end of the table.

From the I-864 - Item 25, page 8:

Original Marriage Certificate Insufficient but Already filed I-130 - Remarrying soon. What to do next?

My personal opinion is that you need to call the USCIS, or make an info pass and go and see them (if you are in the U.S.).

I understand your hesitancy in calling them - "hi this is - you - and our marriage certificate is not valid, in fact legally we aren't really married, what should we do'?

But - by not contacting them you are just asking for more problems, I think - you need to contact them and give them the facts.

You will get married - then what - you show up at the interview with a completely different marriage certificate or you submit it to NVC where it sits on someones desk because they aren't sure what to do with it either.

It will probably work out one of 2 ways, they will either tell you to cancel the petition and start over or they will allow you to submit the new marriage certificate - but you won't know until you contact them.

Can wife visit here on a visitor's visa while I-130 pending?

This is what the U.S. Consulate in Canada has to say on this subject:

Entry to the U.S. while Petition is Pending

After filing the petition, your relative normally would not be admissible to the U.S.; however the CBP inspector at the port-of-entry has the final say. To be eligible to enter your relative must assure the inspector that the visit is temporary and that she or he will depart the U.S. after the proposed visit and wait out the processing period for the immigrant visa in Canada or a third country.

While Canadians don't require a visa, basically they are using the same criteria. Sometimes they are let in, sometimes they are not - the benefit we have is that we don't have to actually pay to find that out.

NVC Help

I just received my NOA2 yesterday from USCIS. Now its time to deal with the NVC . I've read James Shortcuts and it seems pretty straight forward. However, is there an updated DS-3032 form? The only one I can see shows a date of 12/2006.

That is the most current form, so yes, you can use that one - you can always check the link below for the latest copy of each form, it's a good idea:

Also, is the I-864 fee bill $70 or has that changed?

When they say 'certified copy', in the instructions, they mean a copy from the 'issuing authority' - so basically what they are saying is that they want an original.

All of the documents you submit to NVC are forwarded to your Embassy/Consulate. You should only need one copy - the copy you send to the NVC, they should return this to you at the interview.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. You did all the right things, checking the online instructions before sending. I'm sure they will allow a grace period for people who submit without copies anyway.

The comment was meant for people that has no English translated Documents.. They are indeed need of a copy of the document translated in English.

Roserick, I think the operator was wrong. I would recommend that you send a photocopy of each document as well.

You can't always rely on the operators to have the most up to date information.

It really depends on the Consul.. Some might ask you for it, some might not..

Majority of the time, what they really need is proof of bona fide relationship/marriage.. (Pictures, letters, etc..)

But like what rjp44 said.. You don't want to risk your case of getting AR and the consul having you to comeback to submit documents..

Its always good to be prepared...

This is what I see on the Manila site:

Applicants must submit application documents to NVC to be documentarily qualified for the visa interview. Unless all requirements are submitted, the Embassy cannot process a visa application to completion. Be mindful of the expiration dates of the required documents, and bring updated ones to the interview if necessary.

I think maybe they are talking about 2 different things, perhaps Direct Consular Filing vs NVC processing?

- I'm not saying you shouldn't, I'm just thinking that for some people the added expense of getting more originals, when not required, might be a waste of money.

Hmm, you should not need an additional original for the interview. NVC should forward your originals to the consulate/embassy and they should return them to you at the interview.

Yes, ideally everyone will follow the instructions on the DS-230 package. I was just thinking that this might be an important piece of info for people who have already checked the DS-230 application processing site and think they have everything in order and don't know they now need to send photocopies as well.

Aside from all that - the DS-230 package just directs you to the web page for details anyway.

No, you are reading it right dave. Looks like they now require you to photocopy each original/certified document and send it in as well.

As Diana mentioned, guess they are going to save some of their own paper now!

Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document,the applicant is still required to bring the original document to the visa interview.

For the line above, the way I read it is that if you sent a 'copy' of something to the NVC you need to bring the original with you, for instance your passport, where you would have sent a copy of the biographic page.

My understanding is that they will return the originals you sent to NVC to you at the interview.

They gave us back a photo copy of our marriage certificate and nada on the divorce certificate, although the interviewer mentioned to him that they would send the copy of the divorce certificate back with his visa/passport (Husband says it was a photocopy as well, not the original).

So anyway, just wanted to let you know that you won't necessarily get your originals back!

This is the core issue about giving up original civil documents...and the consequences if the NVC looses something like a marriage certificate. I'm sure if they do loose something it's just tough luck as far as they're concerned. It makes much more sense to have the beneficiary bring the docs to the interview as was previously done.

I just heard on CNN a few weeks ago that the USCIS lost 115,000 applications for citizenship back in 2006! I don't trust these people.

I agree, they should be produced at the interview instead of mailing them to NVC.
