Speechless really..

I sure as hell hope I get my approval/RFE soon. sad.gif

I mean my record comprises of two moving violations, one of them gone via traffic school, the other set to expire in a few months from my record. I still live at home, waiting for this damn approval and getting my fiancee here so we can marry and move together, same address for 15 years. No wai should they be taking long on backgrounds for me.

Anyways, there must be some reason why they're being held back for a few people. I really hope all the April/May filers get a speedy adjudicator.

Just talked to andrew and weve agreed that if we havnt heard anything by next friday, andews calling his senetor to see if he can do anything. keeping in mind next monday is Labour day! So nothing will be done sat sun OR monday crying.gif

that little out burst was due to stupid familly questions and demands when i already told them the answers to, and on top we can to that month or that month and blah blah cant that month and its got to be when schools out, they virtually anihilated all months through till summer holiday which cant happen the visa will expire
wacko.gif wacko.gif and i did give lots of advance notice that i could with out having a date. crying.gif

Oh Hannah, I'm so sorry. rose.gif rose.gif I know exactly how you feel. I know John has said we are having two ceremonies, but b/c of how annoying my family is we are giving everyone over a years notice about our wedding date. I figure as we are giving them enough time to be involved cause at the end of the day I know this is selfish but it is our day. So I think we should be able to set the criteria. - melannie

We are having two as well. One civil just for the sake of the K1 and being ready to be married, and after saving up for some 6 months, a more proper wedding reception+ceremony.

Hmm, California has been in some major budget issues in the last 2 months, and threats about cutting worker pay have been looming.

Anyone know if USCIS adjudicators are on the state payroll, or on federal?

Btw, this no approvals thing is pissing me off. There's no holidays this month, and not a single one until the beginning of next month. This is why I wonder if the budget issue may be reason behind the slow down.

Yeah, I mostly dislike Socal for the even hotter weather they get there, and of course political reasons. jest.gif

Since my job is moving to Socal, if I can't find another (or if they don't let me work from home) I will temporarily end up around Irvine for a few months, until Betty gets here, then scoot back up north. Chances are very small, as it's my last resort.

Betty is far more calm than me. Mostly because of this process, needing to move closer to my job, then my job moving to socal (I hate socal, prefer norcal) and trying to convince them to make my job remote/work-at-home which many tech companies are doing for marketing jobs like mine. Then again, she's also used to chaos, given all of the crazy strikes (transportation, garbage, power, internet, education, and much more) Greece has had it in recent months, bad service (ISP workers, from government-run provider, giving out her internet account information for others to use so she pays for internet she can hardly ever use), highly corrupt police officers, etc (this all being documented in the news). It's no wonder she wants out of there, but the chaos going on over there adds to it for me. She's used to it, so no big deal. I swear her getting here is going to relieve me of 99% of my stress. laughing.gif

Well, the Russia-Georgia conflict is all rhetoric from all three sides (Georgia, U.S., Russia), while the real trouble lies within the missile defense program and how Russia responds to that with more countries (European and Asian alike) joining the U.S. side.

Btw, for you Britfolk, here's the story of the only time I ever went to England, in 1999... trying to type this fast since I'm off work in 3 minutes..

Mom was involved with an Englishman, who turned out to be just as insecure as my ex's ex. But while we visited, had an ok time. Stayed on a house boat in the Norfolk broads area for 3 weeks. Got seasick. Had an ear infection. Visited MANY Virgin music stores.. and there's no shortage there. Never see them around here. The music was ridiculously expensive compared to the cost here (import tariffs, perhaps). Wished they would take me somewhere fun since I'm not much of a "cathedral" or "sights" person if there's no lively entertainment like theme parks (which they apparently weren't into). I had my first ever migraine while there in England, and to put it in perspective (since I had never had one before, and never had once after), I was walking across one of the streets in one of the towns (Norwich?) and it was pounding so bad, I couldn't make it across the street, fell to my knees, put my head in my hands, and just gritted my teeth.

I actually rather enjoyed the pub food (not sure if this is a good or bad thing), and the beer was very nice as well. There was a girl that piqued my interest at the time, who is not important now.

When I left, I kinda had an ear infection. I tend to get sick everywhere I go that's not in California or the West Coast. When on the plane, you know, when your ears pop.. well.. my ears wouldn't pop. Wasn't so much a problem on the ascent, but for the descent, it was the worst plane experience ever. My head felt like it was going to explode. Tried gum, tried opening my jaw, tried everything but they wouldn't pop. Finally it felt like my ears just blasted like in those cartoons that is followed with the sound of a train "toot"ing, to signify one being mad.. ringing.. then nothing. Deaf. Was like this for 3-4 weeks. Being like that sounded like when you're in the shower and you have water+soap in your ears. You don't hear sounds, you hear movements and reverbs. I heard my own heart beating when I was running. Was pretty messed up.

Hopefully my trip to Greece for Christmas will be much better. wink.gif

We both visited this one game forum, got fed up with their childish rules, went to a user-made alternative forum, started actually noticing each other in the forum's little chatbox. She was going through a majorly hard time with her ex, who was utterly paranoid and insecure of everything. Basically a little girl. Came from Germany, refused to speak Greek, treated her like ####### because of his own insecurities, yadda yadda. So he's back in Germany now being happy, and she's being treated like a woman should be. We never visit either forum or chat anymore, just talk via Teamspeak/Phone/IM.

The short version is, we were friends for a while, I initially tried helping her manage her relationship, until eventually all the details creeped out, and helped her leave it. After I thought she was past the guy enough, I decided it was worth myself trying to be with her. We were highly attracted to each other, and it was more than evident when we met in San Francisco. Kinda made plenty of people feel uncomfortable the way we kissed in front of the baggage claim. I imagined everything would go smoothly and it did. Just one of those things where things just click on every cylinder. Communication is perfect, and all of the.. *other* things.

Both of us came into the relationship with realistic expectations, as well as patience and understanding, and it's that which is enabling this relationship to make it through what will likely be the toughest time. And for the record, not all people are rational. We both manage each other's bad sides well.

At least you folks from England have a pretty historically accurate days-to-NOA2 based upon a lot of filers. Hardly any Greeks seem to emigrate here, so don't have much consistency in terms of how long it's going to take not only for the NOA2 but for the rest of the process as well.

Dunno why I'm thinking so negatively, but I seem to be assuring myself I'll be getting an RFE. Sure as hell am hoping not. sad.gif

Also, John, I don't mean to be ignoring the question you asked me two pages back. Greece is having a lot of major issues with power outages and people stealing internet connections (which doesn't seem to be out of the norm in residential areas). I was going to try to get Betty to answer them online with this account but will ask her them when I tell her goodnight.

I'm going to Greece this Christmas, so for me to answer that it would need to wait another 5 months and a few days. wink.gif

(just want to quote it to bump to make myself remember)

Hello SRVT,
I would like to ask you a couple things if its not too much trouble.
Could you tell me how safe is Greece for tourists?
What sort of things/ places should be avoided?
What are the best things to see if one is only going to be there a couple days?

Thanks for your time!

I don't mind waiting a bit longer (for success that is, I have been tortured enough by the wait alone and not knowing), I just pray that I don't get a f-ing denial or RFE and provided enough info. Paranoid to hell about that. sad.gif

I didn't give a mountain of evidence (we only took two pictures together, not realizing we probably would want more, plus few phone records, even though I can supply an absolute mountain of them, along with emails, and several things sent through DHL), that's for sure, but she did go through customs when she visited here (her one trip to the U.S. and only time seeing me) with the destination given as the hotel and address that I submitted to the USCIS, as evidence, showing my email confirmation as paying for the hotel room on my credit card with the same address info. Quite honestly, I just set my expectations low or get rid of them entirely. In regards to this, my expectations I think are far more than reasonably low, since I told my fiancee I'm expecting this to go through by May of next year. So a September approval or any way she could get her hands on her K1 this year would literally blow my mind. Preparing to deal with another lengthy time apart (if it drags on past the end of the year I'll be paying nearly $2,000 to fly out to Greece for Christmas/New Years), and making sure both people do their part to have as thick of skin as possible, and be there for each other even more.

It's been a very hard go, as both of us are feeling the distance something strong. We're managing though. Sarah got a laptop last week, so it's been nice to have some more privacy. It has a webcam, so I went out and purchased one as well, and it has been amazing to have while we're on the phone...to actually *see* her when she's talking...but it's bitter/sweet as it does make it harder to say good night...but 62 days, 22 hours, 39 minutes and 5 seconds until she's here to visit! The she'll be here for a month, and then only 2.5 months til Christmas with her!

I bought my plane tickets to England for christmas as well! $747 round trip for 2 week stay. So things are progressing, however slowly. No news is good news, I suppose. This weekend will be a huge hurdle to get over...Sarah is going away to Nice, France from Saturday til Monday night...I'll be going to Boston from Friday until Monday morning. So we'll be out of touch for basically 3 whole days...I'm not looking forward to this one sad.gif

I'd love to pay that much! I'll be visiting Athens in December and I'm looking at $1600 minimum. wacko.gif I just hope to get the ticket before prices become even worse.

I certainly feel your pain as well. Just hang in there! good.gif

QUOTE (Jason&Sarah @ Jun 30 2008, 01:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have vonage - which is $24.99 a month with unlimited calling to the UK on land lines. Also, for $5 a month more I have a 'virtual' number that is a local london number that she can call that rings to my home phone. Also, she has BT international plan for like £6 a month its unlimited calling to USA (only catch is it's good for an hour, the like .02p a minute after...so we just talk for like 55 minutes and hang up and reset and call back lol).

the part that kills us is texting. It's not as bad as its been in the past. T-mobile is really good on this side and that side as well. I only play $.15 per outgoing text and incoming is free (since i have unlimited texting) for international texts. I think her's is 20p for outgoing text and free incoming for international...

With cell phone usage she basically calls me...and we do the whole talk for an hour, hang up and call back...etc. It's complicated...but it's our system that works smile.gif

Oh, and we use MSN all the time! Besides emails, and snail mail letter/cards etc. I do have to admit, I look forward to when she's here - my cell phone bill will thank me!

I get it easy I suppose. I have Vonage, like you, but I need a Call Europe plan which is another $10-$15 on top of the $25. Doesn't count if I call her cell phone rather than land lines. Ouchies. The easy part being on cell phone. International plans to Greece I find are at minimum $0.25/min on normal cell providers, so I had to go with Metro. It was $0.03/min to call, then it went down recently to $0.02, which basically gave me 33% more talk time for the same price, which is also quite a help. Problem is, their coverage sucks, so does their selections of phones (which they bank on). Like you guys, my wallet will be thanking me when she's here for good!

We spend time doing a lot of stuff online as well, like synchronizing movies together, playing video games, etc., but none of it will compare to all of the better stuff in person.

Is there any special way to get a touch? Or do they just do it randomly? Just want to make sure they're alive and it's been a month now.
