Hannah, have you started putting together Interview stuff? That takes a lot of time. I started in August and man, it's a lotta work. I'm compiling chats and emails (I drained my printer's ink cartridge at work...oops...... tongue.gif .. and I have to go through and "censor" which ones I can include whistling.gif ) Also compiling phone and skype records, an album of pics, photocopies of boarding passes, etc. That's something you could do in the meantime. star_smile.gif

I'm getting ready for that too. I've been saving all call logs from Vonage and ready to print them out. Looks like it's about 150 pages of phone calls. In the first month of Vonage, a year or so ago, when I was doing part time work study, full time school, I was averaging 8,000 minutes a month with her. That didn't include the cell phone time. Now, working full time, its around a reasonable 3,000. whistling.gif

Not going to include many chat transcripts as they include personal data, same with emails. I think the 2394829034 phone calls we have, as well as my UPS receipt sending her birthday present, is enough. It cost me $250 to send her birthday present, about as much as what I spent on her presents. Ouch.

I know most of you have seen the thread about why USCIS processing times are growing these last couple months.
I wonder if its true, or its just another of those rumors that runs rampantant about the men-in-black.....I mean USCIS. whistling.gif I think thats one of the biggest problems, how little they tell us about whats really going on. Its run like some type of secret police organization or something.......

I'd just say it's a lot like other government administrative jobs. I see this in my college campus too, when I worked there with the staff as a campus library lab assistant / admin. It's an attitude of "I'll get to it when I get to it". It takes the employee committing murder to lose their job. This is what concerns me about the adjudicators, if they're in the same position. Then you're entirely at the behest of someone else, much like your chances of getting turned back at POE with a pending K1.

Anyways, plenty of people do get their approvals so I don't want this to make it seem like I'm cynical. Just realistic, but very upbeat about it. In all honesty I didn't expect my NOA2 until January. When it gets into November and still no NOA2, then I'll get concerned. I sure as hell hope not though.

I understand the reasons why you are so desparate/anxious to have a noa2 before Vito gets there, Hannah. And I really, truly hope you get it this week. For Melannie and I it isnt going to matter much if its this week or next, and if it were possible I know we'd gladly let you cut in line if that was an option.

I hope you'll get yours this week, but I also hope you'll be able to stand the disapointment if you dont. USCIS seems to be much better at letting us all down than they are at anything else!

Ain't that the ###### truth. wacko.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 08 k1 filers ~ CSC
But they don't do them in some precise order. You've been even more looking at approvals than I have, and I'm sure you know they don't exactly go in order, and adjudicators work at a different pace. I just hope you and everyone else are with one who is fast, I think we all deserve that, but there are plenty here who received their NOA2 like a month or two later than others who were getting it around their NOA1 date.

I'm saying this because if this happens I don't want you to get this upset, as it very well can happen, and to keep your expectations as low as possible, as it does you no good at all to get this stressed. You two will be together soon, as will all of us May filers. Just please have patience, and lets have fun in the May thread while some of our friends here get approvals, and the time will come for you, and myself, and everyone else here. Just keep your fingers crossed and, while I wouldn't suggest having faith in the government, just remember how much stronger the relationship will be and realizing the value of it with waiting. Hell, you and Vito even get to see each other in two weeks! I haven't seen Betty since April and the costs of a Christmas ticket ($1800) is probably too much for both of us to afford, with me moving out and needing to spend money on furniture for us.

Just be happy for the approvals coming in and know yours is coming soon. smile.gif

Edit: Yeah, I did reply to the other person but I think you need a good talking to. tongue.gif

Your timeline suggests:
Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between October 1, 2008 and October 13, 2008*.

While you are seeing some approvals, I don't get why you're upset, as these approvals are happening a month ahead of expectations. I'd feel quite grateful to receive my approval when others around my date start getting theirs, but don't expect it at all.

I think people just need to lower their expectations as they're letting other approvals affect them too much. I look at what people like estadia has gone through and it makes a couple weeks look like a picnic.

Well, now today was my day to break down into tears - and of all places at work wacko.gif I was chatting with my fiance and I got so upset that we even ended up fighting. I'm a whack job today! headbonk.gif

I feel horrible. I'm going home from work early.

sad.gif

Well, I mean things have been frustrating for us too..

In the sense that Greece constantly has power outages in villages throughout the country due to a terrible power infrastructure -- every summer, that is.

So beyond having difficulty getting ahold of her besides her cell phone (which none of my plans cover and it costs $0.22/min regardless of which service, minimum), we both miss each other, and it's hard in that sense. However, we've gone quite a bit of time without any small fights, never mind big ones, and all is good, and we're both being patient and waiting for things to happen. At the same time I'm moving, to be better situated in a larger place for her, my job is moving to southern cal, and I'm doing everything I can to convince them to let me work at home (we'll see how that goes), but I doubt it, nonetheless, looking for a 2nd job and another full time job. I'll easily make well over the 125% poverty level myself, I just want us to be comfortable and in a good working class environment, not these poor neighborhoods with idiots (crime, drama, etc.) like I grew up around.

I am getting a bit nervous though now that it's getting closer to approval/RFE time.

I think it's probably the way they put it back into the queue and separate them into stacks, as well as the pace they're being worked.

Seems rather random and inefficient. There may also be a special cause for that NOA2 as well so I'll start going ape when more than just one May filer gets approved. wink.gif

Hopefully Friday is the day, or some notification by the weekend's conclusion. Next week or the week after I'm sure we'll see May filers approved.

My birthday's on the 17th, and hopefully that will come with an NOA2 (although extremely unlikely). smile.gif

I think you just shed some positive like, cca, on why this shouldn't be entirely negative. This wait can strain a relationship, but for those two who are really there for each other and belong together, it will make the relationship stronger.

Think about it, how many locals have to go through an arduous and bureaucratic process just to be together? They just.. are together. It should give us an extra appreciation for our SO's the fact that we are willing to go this extra mile to be together.

I will have to play devil's advocate. Sometimes bureaucracy is good. I bet the bureaucratic part has also stopped people from trying to enter getting funds to try and do the marry-and-escape trick once they've got a green card, or given them time to figure out if they truly have the patience to be with one another. The unfortunate part is legitimate relationships like ours get delayed because of the few bad people, but dealing with bad apples is everyone's problem to solve, alas.

In terms of universal healthcare, no devil's advocate necessary -- the U.S. is the only first world nation without it, and it's also the worst first world health care system, because no matter how great the doctors may be, the fact that tens of millions of Americans don't even have insurance means they will opt out of getting adequate care needed to stay healthy and working. Increases likelihood of not being able to pay, then who foots the bill anyways? Yes. Taxpayer does. There's no reason this country shouldn't be there, but it is, overwhelmed with ideology over sensibility, and is, in many ways, falling behind.

Curiously, we criticize others and other systems, but refuse to look introspectively (as in, objective criticism of one's self) into our own problems to ultimately learn and better ourselves. So we don't get better. We get worse.
