Hello September filers. I sent my petition in September as well. September of 2007 that is!!! To give you an idea of how long it takes.....

Heh, kinda hard to tell how long it takes on average for Greek petitions. Not many from Greece apparently leave. Or they don't leave to go to the U.S. blink.gif

For some it has taken a while. I know July and August filers were having fits with how long it took to get the NOA1/check cashed.

If it gets touched before your NOA1 I'd have no idea how one would know as I got my receipt # along with the NOA1.

Congratulations to you both! biggrin.gif San Jose is like San Francisco in that they're both quite expensive. :/ You said that you have an 1 - 1½ hour walk to/from the store -- Do you know if San Jose has the MUNI transportation system that San Francisco has? If not, I'm sure there's some sort of public transportation you could utilize to make the trip a lot easier for you - Imagine trying to lug around milk and fruit and other heavy items for an hour. huh.gif I think I'd just about die, anyway, haha.

San Jose has VTA buses, light rail, Caltrain, plenty of transportation. Personally I haven't had any issue driving around the city either.

I'm more of a fan of Santa Clara, myself, though. And it is indeed expensive.

Middle East and North AfricaMy Husband's Father was Deported Yesterday
There's clearly something awry going on in Charlotte. Thankfully on any POE's, my fiancee has been greeted with good humor, jokes, and compliments. (Portland, San Francisco)

Still, as an American I'd sure as hell give them hell for this before I tear up my own citizenship. Really tired of how the U.S. government treats Americans (especially doing things the legal way) with their decisions on who they're going to be with, not to mention their chosen SO's.

I hope everything turns out well. sad.gif

If you two are in it for the long run the wait is certainly a test and worth it.

Things were a bit (only a bit) strenuous for Betty and I when she visited in April, when she left. I hated seeing her leave me in the San Francisco Airport. We missed each other really bad and it took nearly 2 months just to calm down from it, We do everything we can for each other, calling, talking online (I have the benefit of talking to her every couple hours on the phone and hours online every day even while from work), and keep our positive outlook that we'll be (and we certainly will be) together again very soon.

If there's one thing to be sure of, it gives you a lot of hope watching your number fall from Igors, knowing you're up soon.

QUOTE (tallcoolone @ Jul 26 2008, 03:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You have a lot of odds in your favor:

1. Divorce is illegal in PI, so the PI woman is not raised in the mindset of if I am not happy I will get a Divorce.

2. What ever makes you happy will make her happy, this is the beauty of PI wife.

3. You are lucky to have Philippine Fiance, Common Knowledge is they make the best wives.

I must say, having a woman who can cook and dance is great. I find that prevalent in Greek women. biggrin.gif As well as pissing of feminists, I find always a plus (in fact thats the only thing I find agreeable about your post). As for sticking together, I think you'll find this mindset everywhere, dude. I find it better in a relationship where unhappiness means divorce, as both people try to make each other happy, and effort is demanded of both sides, as opposed to one side *ahem*. Keeping someone in a relationship who isn't happy isn't really a relationship. I'm glad most first world countries have moved past the mindset shown in your post, because it was obvious for the most part women were getting the #### end of the relationship stick for quite a long time.

As for the OP, you just have to be patient. I can understand many people have a threshold of how much time they can bear to be apart, which is perfectly understandable, but keep in mind many people go 1, 2, and 3 years before seeing one another again. In comparison to a lifetime of togetherness, it's a small time to wait, and if the person you're with and relationship are valuable, the wait is worth it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFear of it not working out
Well, that's just the risk one has to take. I'm sure we all think about this, but it's best to try and be positive. If you're too in fear of the negative, eventually it will affect you.

I'm lucky in that I'm with a person who is ready to be out of where she lives now. She's already moved to another country once before (for school) with a different language and culture, and experienced the preliminary "culture shock" that most people with vastly different cultures/languages experience. All I can say is, keep an open mind, your skin thick, and simply be there for one another as much as you can. Talk a lot. Be understanding, and defensive/sensitive as LITTLE as humanly possible. It's already enough stress being apart.

If you're confident enough in each other, like I am with my SO, you simply know you mesh well together. You both need the same mentality about each other and the relationship.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan Marry while waiting for K1 Visa
I agree. We're doing the civil-first, then saving up for the ceremony later, although both are going to be held here. I see no reason why one can do a ceremony, just making sure there's no legal marriage, and make sure not to give any evidence to the USCIS or beneficiary's embassy that you did [unofficially] marry (i.e. no wedding photos, just photos together in general) as not to potentially complicate the situation.

Well, you're already 2-3 months into the K1 process, which is about half way. I don't think it would be wise, unless there's some greatly compelling reason to scrap it all and marry overseas, especially when the K3 process generally takes longer. Just marry here. If you were like, one month or less into the process, I'd have said scrap it, but then again it's your choice. If you can go the wait with no problem, go for the K3. Most of us wouldn't want to though, I imagine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCopy of I-129F for interview?
Hello fellow VJers.

I just realized our immigration lawyer only made copies of the G-325A (wish I had joined sooner) and not our I-129F, and has no backup of it. Neato.

Anyone think it would be a big deal for me to re-do the I-129F, myself (I have the copy of it before I printed out, sans the date/signature) and send it to her for the interview? Or if it's even necessary for the interview? Not exactly sure of the precise date I signed it for the original, and not sure if they're really concerned about these little details (I know when I filed so I could put the date before then) beyond having a legitimate and ongoing relationship. I'd also call the embassy and ask them, but you know, that seems to be an invitation for disaster as the Athens embassy doesn't deal with many I-129F's to the U.S.

If I felt it was safe, and I wouldn't get hassled (which is also why I ask) I'd see if I could get a copy from them, as I assume they have it (the original) after it being forwarded from the NVC, but, then again, I'm not too sure.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEntering on B1/B2 and getting married
I actually had these questions seriously beforehand, but the risk was way too high. I see nothing wrong with doing this, and was quite embarrassed actually given that the lawyer I had questioned had to dust off his book on the I-129F's, i.e. that most people around here just go the B2=>marry=>AOS route.

Made me feel rather sheepish, and wonder why the government allows such a loophole.

And I dont think its being hypocritical. I call it learning from my mistakes. Personally, I am in a quandry as to who to vote for. Either way, I get a democrat in the white house as I see it. I dont think that Obama will be as bad as the right makes him out to be, and I dont think that McCain will be as bad as the left makes him out to be.

I'm the opposite. Obama will be as bad as the right makes him out to be, and McCain will be as bad as the left makes him out to be.

The real problem is knowing how bad both candidates will be, people will still vote for one or the other.

So McCain's strategy is criticize Obama on experience and foreign policy, then hire someone who he met once, and knows has no experience in a federal branch of government, and who's only foreign policy acclaim is she lives in a state that's a sailboat trip away from the easternmost tip of Russia?

How many idiots actually buy this?

And how many idiots would actually buy that since Obama has only four years experience (2 of which were spent campaining) in a federal branch of government and NO executive branch experience is qualified to be the number one guy?

Do you want your number 1 guy in the the white house to be the inexperienced one, or the number two guy? Thats the difference here.

Question -- did you vote for Bush?

If you did, you're being a hypocrite.

Learn Russian then translate.

i.e. I never heard of Russian translations. Only Spanish.

Usually handbooks have nice pictures for people to remember, to go with the text, which is used on the test.

You did the right thing. If I had found proof of such instances, it would be over in a second. The risk we all take in having a relationship is possible failure. It's a good thing you caught it now than down the line, right?

Don't hang your head. You found out for a reason, just use this as a positive tool, take the good experiences, bad experiences, and learning experiences into the next relationship and make it better than ever.

Stevi, I am so touched and humbled by your words. Thank you so much. smile.gif My life is actually very full and very busy... I just happen to work for myself, online and with computers so I have the opportunity to be here more than others.

I've had the pleasure of being around this wonderful website and resource for a year now and the life experience to give me the wisdom to know what is truly important. I came first in desperation and was guided in the right direction by the knowledge and compassion from others who were once were we found ourselves to be. They helped pull us through this and get us to where we are. You've got to pay these things forward... wink.gif

Just call them and change the information as stated in the other thread, 2nd post. It's not very complicated.

And I doubt they will tell you how long it would delay the process, if at all.

These basic questions you have either should have been consulted before filing or with a lawyer's help.

For my beneficiary I used any name(s) that her government recognizes her by.

I think it goes like this.

When in doubt, blame security checks. (USCIS, now part of the DHS)

Security checks falls under state secrets, because it means revealing classified data only shared with people who have a certain clearance.

Since the DHS and DOJ (incl. FBI) are the de-facto agencies which are responsible for such checks, are cabinets that's part of the Executive Branch, and the Executive Branch has chosen to.. expand it's secrets, and refuse to cooperate in sharing them, I believe filing a lawsuit against them sort of falls under the "snowballs chance in hell" of succeeding.

To be frank.
