Middle East and North AfricaApproved but didnt keep passport
QUOTE (JeniLovesMarwan @ Dec 23 2009, 11:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Does anyone know why the CO told my husband he was approved for his visa in Cairo Egypt but they gave him his passport back and said they would call him within 1 week to send back his passport to Embassy? This confuses me very much if he was approved why wouldnt they keep his passport. Anyone know why? Thanks

first i wish with all my heart they call him soon asking for his passport then give him his visa shortly ,, well about your question i dont know for sure excatly why they didnt keep his passport but for what i hear when they didnt keep it they put the case on AP or AR but dont worry i dont think it will take longer also call the DOS they will tell you excatly what the statue of the case , they kept my passport on my interview but even like that they put me under AP but really didnt take longer time then they issue me the visa also i missed one paper work which was my wife divorce certificate i believe it cause the AP for me but i think more on your case they put it on AR thats why they didnt keep his passport but inshallah it won't take longer and soon they will call him asking to send his passport to them , best of luck to both of you , have a good one .

Middle East and North AfricaVisa denied in Algeria
QUOTE (ChaoukiandApril @ Dec 15 2009, 09:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband went to his interview today and he called me and told me that his visa was denied. They accused him of fraud and did not believe our marriage is valid. They will be sending our application back to uscis. I guess this means we are in ap. He will scan and email the form they gave him when he gets home tomorrow. He went for his medical last week and interview (they had changed the date to the 8th from the 15th). They told him the paperwork was not ready yet and to come back the 15th. He went back today and got the bad news. All these plane flights to Agliers is killing us. I have heard ap can last anywhere from 2 months (not usually that quick but that's what they told him at the embassy) to around 1 year. We have not seen each other in 9 months and this is really killing me (but I know I am not alone). So what happens if the visa is denied? We have to divorce???? I am soooooo devistated!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband thought that because we were married they could not deny us. I told him he was soo wrong and they can do what they want to. I guess he knows now but he does not seem very disturbed by this. Any help, advise, encouragment is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!

April sad.gif

about my experince with it i tell you before we get married we tried the vistor visa which is B1 visa and i got deny then we get married and went itno K3 visa and it works fine so even if they deny his visa by now you can start it again all over i know how hard it gonna be to start the whole process again but never give up or thinking for divorce , no matter how many time you will try to start the process it doesnt matter with the embassy and as some said on here even you need to move to be with him do it if that will be the last thing to do ,, wish you both all the good luck.

hi everyone ..thanks so so so so much for all the warm wishes and greetings this is MENA family ,, please forgive me for not coming since my last topic but really was no time cause we moved to new house and you know how hard it was so please forgive me all and thanks so much for all, about my trip i tell you ... when i went to cairo air port to take my flight they told me there is a delay for five hours then i waited ahh by the way this flight was Egypt air so after the five hours waiting they call us to go then when we were about to landing in NY they said we can't land now cause of the weather so it took about half an hour then when i arrived to NY the imgrant process took just few moments ,the officer was so so nice with me and done all so fast , then i had to run to get my other flight which will take me to Los Angels but then they told me the flight is took off already cause of the delay from Egypt air so Egypt air made a rebook for another flight with delta air line it happened after four hours and they put us in Hotel far from the air port like half an hour , my other flight was next day at 7 am so i spend this night in NY then next day i went to the air port two hours earlier but was lots of pepole and i missed this flight also and a guy there asked me to put my bag to take it then just after i did that he and me realized this was wrong then i went fast to take it back but was late cause they already put it on the flight which will leave to los angels then i felt all lost then after two hours i found another flight but i paid for it again then i arrived to LA and Suzie was there waiting for me . thanks so much for you all and again forgive me for this delay for replay you all .

You're right Terrie, I am a little overzealous to get started on AOS! ^_^ I made 2 complete packages to send in, I have an extra in care the first gets 'lost'.

Good Luck to Mounir & Suzie!

Hey Bro how are ya ? I hope that everything is going ok with ya and its good to see ya around .

How to File for Adjustment of Status ?

How to get a Social Security Number (SSN) ?!

Good luck and my best wishes for ya bro .

Mohamed

hey bro , i'm doing well wish you doing well too and soon you tell me a great news ,, i will read the links you sent me thanks so much for all bro.

You have to file a EAD and I-485 to adjust status. Sooner you do so the sooner you'll have the GC or EAD approval and you can get a SSN.
Check the Guides for adjusting status for K1/K3.

thanks so much

Middle East and North Africahow i can start the rest of the process on k3

If you have not been married for 2 years yet and you want to wait to file AOS. You can file a stand alone EAD and get permission to work. You can then file for your SS#. It took us about 3 months(typical) to get the EAD card and a few weeks to get the social. You can then file AOS after you have been married for 2 years and receive the 10 yr GC. If you file for AOS before your 2yr anniversary, you will receive a 2 yr GC and then have to lift conditions after that.
Hotguy sent you the links so you can take it from there.
We're getting ready to file AOS this month sometime.

Good Luck and I hope everything is smooth for you guys.

thanks so much i will tell Suzie and we will start soon isa thanks again , wish you a great one .

Middle East and North Africahow i can start the rest of the process on k3

Hey Mounir good to see you again! My husband arrived 2 weeks ago and he is also K3. Looks like you and me are doing this AOS together.

We have printed off the many forms needed, the G325, the I864 and the I485. We both need new passport size pics. Ibrahim needs a new medical (his is more than one year) I need 6 months of paystubs from my work. Still searching for my tax records from 2008 & 2007.

After it is all sent in, you will get a letter to go for your biometrics. About 3 months after your biometrics you will get EAD card, then you can apply for your SS card. About 9 months after filing you will get a letter to go for your interview together. Then........greencard. If married less than 2 years...you will get a 2 year card. If married more than 2 years, you will get a 10 year card.

Jackie & Ibrahim (F)

wow i'm so so glad to know that your husband arrived safe this is great news ,, i will start doing the same then thanks so much Jackie and tell Ibrahim a big hello for me.

I doubt this is the reason your case is in AP. AP is very common for beneficiaries who are citizens of Middle Eastern countries which are immigrating to the United States. Administrative Processing is very normal for anyone immigrating to the US from Egypt.

Honestly, I don't believe contacting your congressman is warranted. Your case is not outside of processing timelines, does not seem to be in the process of being returned, etc. There is no timeframe for Administrative Processing to be completed, and no congressman or senator can speed this process for anyone. Sometimes AP is short, sometimes AP is longer as in months or even years.

Like I said, I do not think a congressman will be able to assist at this point in your case. However, if you are intent on contacting them, you may find the congressman in your wife(s) area by clicking here: US Congressional Representatives (By State)

Your wife can contact the Department of State to check on the status of your case by calling 202-663-1225 (press 1, then 0). The DOS will verify whether your case is still in Administrative Processing or not. I would suggest calling the DOS once a week to find out the status. Good luck to you.

thanks so much i appreciate your reply ,, i know the congressman can not speed this process i just thinking he may give us some info about what they doing now not sure if he can do it or not , thanks so much ,, wish the best luck to you .

OK. - Find out which state your USC spouse resides.

Then study a map , pick her exact locale -
http://www.house.gov..._by_State.shtml

Then you'll find the contact info for that representative.

Once you have the contact info - you'll need to ask for the 'immigration liason staffer' .

Good Luck !

thanks so much Darnell i will check it out ,, have a good one .

Middle East and North AfricaHello MENA family!!! it has been too long!

Hello everyone star_smile.gif

It seems as if it has been forever since I have posted on the MENA boards (probably since last year) but I have been visiting and keeping up with everyone! My husband is here in the USA now el hamdulillah and has been for about a year and a half... LOTS of adjustments going on but inshAllah all will be well smile.gif good.gif

Now here is my question: some of you, if not all, are going through this experience (of bringing someone from abroad to the US to adjust to so many different things, etc). My hubby is having some issues with acquiring a job with his college degree, even though he had it evaluated by World Education Services, and they said it was valid in the USA, and equivalent to a degree here in the IT field. Does he need to start over? I mean he is kind of tired of all the part time jobs, etc, and I try to tell him that these things take time... but how long does it take? Does anyone have experience with a family member who came to the USA with an IT degree? Does he need to obtain some sort of certification? I would hate for him to start from scratch... but maybe that is what he needs to do. sad.gif I guess part of my worry is that it will be difficult once I go back to school (grad school inshAllah) and cannot work a full time job like I do now, and he is still working part time, retail, etc....

Any advice friends? smile.gif Just pray that everything will be ok smile.gif I wish his issues were missing home, etc (haha he seems to be just fine in that department) but i would love to see him happy in the career world smile.gif

Again, I miss you all! And I hope all is well! luv.gif

Dalia

i wish i have an answer for your question but really i dont know about that just want to say i wish he be good and so happy and all the happiness for all of you , i'm still waiting to hear from the embassy in here in Cairo but i know everything on GOd hand ,, have a nice one.

Your birth certificate .
Your passport .
The interview letter '' they wont let you in if you don't show it to the guard at the embassy ''
If your fiance was married before they might ask for his divorce certificate '' the original '' .
Take all the proof of your relationship maybe they might ask to see some of them or maybe they wont even ask for any .it depends on the CO .
Good luck and my best wishes for you .

wish you doing well Mohamed brother ,it was a great reply wish it helps Aya and that she get a great interview , wish to hear good news about you soon , have a great day brother .
