They told my wife at the Embassy she could pick hers up there. She had asked at the time of her interview.

did they tell her when she can pick it?

bratikicks- im from cabanatuan city,im thinking if its possible to pick up visa

No they did not as she still needs the Marriage Index and when she takes that to the embassy they will tell her when she can pick it up. She is only two short bus rides and one jeepney from the embassy so it is fairly close to her.

what is the Marriage Index? and does it really need by CR1/IR1 filers?

PhilippinesNVC docs questions.
QUOTE (ao_cons @ Jan 6 2009, 06:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband petitioned me for an CR1 / IR1 visa. Our case was moved to the California Service Center this Dec 22.

While waiting for it, we've decided to follow the advice in the NVC shortcut Wiki article posted here in VisaJourney.

I was born in the Philippines. Should I...

- get 2 copies of my birth certificate (just to be sure) YES,AS MANY COPIES AS U WANT IN CASE U NEED IT SOME OTHER TIME.. AND MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE TOO
- get it certified by whom? National Statistics Office? Department of Foreign Affairs? Or the Philippine Embassy? NSO IS OKAY.. I SENT MY AUTHENTICATED BIRTH CERT AND MARRIAGE CERT FROM NSO TO MY HUSBAND

With regards to police clerance:

- I lived in the same town since I was 16. Do I need to get a clerance from the local municipal hall or village, or would the nationally recognized NBI Clearance suffice? I GOT NBI CLEARANCE AND POLICE CLEARANCE AND SENT IT IN.. I ALSO LIVED HERE SINCE I WAS 16..
- How do I apply? Can a relative help me (with payment, for example, to make it faster)?

Also, questions about the documents the petitioner (my husband) needs to provide:

- He does not pay taxes. He is an honorably discharged US Army veteran with a full pension. Would a letter explaining the situation and his bank records suffice for this?
- Can we include additional evidences of a bona fide marriage once we get our NOA2 and transfer to NVC? We would like to add more photos, letters, etc. just to be sure. I BELIEVE U WILL JSUT NEED ALL THESE ON THE TIME OF UR INTERVIEW

Hello. Not sure if this is the proper place to ask this question but I got married this year and want to claim my wife on my income taxes when I file early next year. What do I need to claim her as she is still in the Philippines and has never been to USA yet. It normally asks for social security number but of course she has none. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I did so when my wife was still in the Philippines. Just submit W-7 with your tax return. She'll get the ITIN number later. Makes for more evidence of a bona fide marraige.

hi Haole,
im going to send my signed w-7 to my husband so he can file his tax and send his AOS to NVC..
i would like to ask,is he going to apply for my ITIN first b4 he can file his tax? or like what u have said,he can file his tax already and just by submitting my w-7?

hello happy new year!! anyway i just got my ITIN last year, we filed it last may 2008 and 3months after IRS send my ITIN, and the papers we submitted to apply for this, are the W7 form filled up , marriage contract, my Birth cert. and copy of passport. But u need to have all this authenticated from DFA office in Manila, in which the authentication they have is red ribbon wd gold seal. make sure that the gold seal is readable bcoz it will have a stamp on it/cert. stamp ( raised emblem) and send it to houston texas IRS address., but make sure before u will have ur passport authenticated at DFA manila, get a certified copy of ur passport from ur local DFA wherein u apply ur passport this will save u time bcoz when u get to DFA manila they will tell u to wait 2 weeks for them to request a certified copy from ur local office.

Hope this will help u....Once again Happy New Year!!!

my husband is going to file his tax with my w-7,when will he get his copy?coz he will send it to NVC for my AOS..
where should i get that certified copy of passport?i applied my passport at DFA Manila..

since u got ur passport from DFA manila then u can go directly to DFA manila for the red ribbon gold seal copy. all u have to do is take wd u ur passport photo copy and also wd ur MC and BC, but be sure to bring wd u the original one if in case , anyway u have to filled up a form there at DFA if i am not mistaken its a yellow or pink form, u can ask it from the guard inside DFA. Once u applied for ITIN as far as i know u cant have a copy of ur w7 back to you just the ITIN letter (which means ur application for ITIN is been approved and then they're going to assign u ur ITIN which will be in the letter)and this will be send to the address listed on the w7 form which should be ur address you can then fax/send a copy of ur ITIN to ur husband. smile.gif

how much it cost for the red ribbon?
my husband will file his tax and needs my ITIN so i will send him my w-7 form with my requirements..
i want to ask once he filed his tax, when can he get a copy of his tax return?coz he will send it to NVC..

Pardon me, but I am very technology-challenged.

I loosely understand the sim cards and such, but here's what I THINK I am seeing. When I go to RP, I can buy a phone and use it back HERE in the USA to keep our calls and texts cheaper??? That sounds awesome, if I am understanding this correctly.

Right now, my angel texts within Phil for P2, but it's P15 to text ME here in the U.S. mad.gif

Correct, I bought a phone from Phils, 1/hr before you leave, you txt ROAM ON or somehting of that sort to the provider number depending if it's Globe or Smart. Now, they can continue to txt that Phone for 1-peso. I only use that phone to recieve txt, then I either text her back with my phone(I have an international txt plan with AT&T-100 txt for $9.99/month) or I txt her thru Yahoo Messenger(free for me). You SO would have to have a Yahoo account and she/he can add their Phone # to that account so txt messages from YM can get sent to them.

She even txt me back on YM and it only cost her 2.50-peso to txt my YM. I have a smart phone with unlimited data plan, so, I'm pretty much connected to YM 24/7.

Not sure how much it is for her to call me, but I'm the one that does the calling. Plus, I go thru Gorilla Mobile when calling Phils, they charge .9cents for landline or .15cents to cell phone.

Ingats!!

Hi All and Happy New Year!

I am glad to read all the posts and I guess I am doing things correct.

I use PLDT to buy load.

I also use Arty, depending on mood LOL

Here is what I did: When I was in Philippines, I purchased a cellphone and got Smart Sim card. An hour before I left, I put it on ROAM, took out the sim card and gave the phone to my fiancee. (phone only works on the frequency there)

When I arrived in USA I went to the Nokia web site, purchased an "Unlocked" phone, put sim card in the phone.

Now my fiancee and other Philippine friends can text me for the cost of a local text.

I don't text back with that phone cause it cost about 60 peso I think. I use my USA cell phone to text back, I purchased an international plan with AT&T.

Good luck. I hope all this information helps!!

hello,

how and where did u get an "unlocked" phone?
i want him to get even a cheapest phone, just to use the roaming simcard..

thank you..

Here is what I do. I tx her from Chikka on my computer and the cost is nothing to me. If I am not home and need to text I use my Verizon Wireless phone and the cost is .15 cents. She texts me on my cellphone which I bought used from Ebay (Motorola V180) for approximately $45. You MUST make sure that it has the correct band to work in the USA. The safest phone to buy is a quad band phone, that way it works in USA and Philippines. When I leave the Philippines I put it in roam by texting ROAM ON to smart (333) is the number you send it to and then when I return to the Philippines I text ROAM OFF (also to 333) and then within minutes I can call her or text her. To make sure I am covered while in USA I have both Smart and Globe sims in roam. I put the Globe in roam the day before I leave the Phils and then Smart the day that I leave. Works great for me and no cost to her to tx me if she has unlimited in smart and if not it is only 1peso same as texting others in Phils.

we used chikka to text each other, but when he changed his mobile carrier,it doesn't accept text from chikka anymore..
so u use ur roam sim with the cellphone u bought?

offtopic45vn.gif

i saw ur signature and it says that USEM asked for marriage index?
what was that? why did they ask for that?
is it required for cr1/ir1 applicants?
