K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnkara or Abu Dhabi? (for Immigrant visa applicants from Iran)
Abu Dhabi hasn't been treating us well so far! they are busy or short in number of staffs, I don't know. But our file was completed in Sep. Nothing even for Nov. I'm not even sure we can get into Dec list or not.
I have K3 interview in Dec. So if nothing happens by then, we will go for K3. USCIS and NVC were pretty ok, (on time) but after NVC it's just stupid delay! for unknown reason!
I have no idea abt Ankara.

Our visa interview is scheduled for April 20. We're applying in Manila for a K-3, non-immigrant visa. My hubby's dad is our co-sponsor. He is using a I-134 affidavit of support.

Tax returns are not mentioned in the instructions for I-134. Will they be required in order to get the K-3 visa, or will we only need tax returns when we file a I-864 when we apply for adjustment of status?

If your married allready and you file the I-134 instead of the I-864 what your supposed to file . Your visa can be denied , the I-134 is for non family based visa only . And the I-864 is only to be used for family based visa , and k3 and k4 visa is a family based visa . When k1 or k2 visa is a non family based visa . And your wrong in your post it says your visa is an non-immigrant visa , your visa if its a k3 is an immigrant visa . K3 visa means allready married , but no childreen .

I heard from the embassy a couple days ago. They basically said don't worry this is a mandatory procedure now and since it involves getting information from other international agencies the time in AP depends on how fast the other agencies get the info back to them. One other thing is that the embassy is conducting the additional review so I believe it's a good thing (meaning our case didn't have to go back to Washington).

Sorry to hear that you guys are in AP. We were there for awhile. If it has been a month, I would call or email weekly until you get information.

We waited patiently for so long, and I finally emailed them yesterday, and they told us we were done with AP! If I hadn't asked, I wonder when they were planning to tell us that!
Have hope, it will all work out in the end.

Thank you! When is your honey coming home?

FH had his interview today in Dakar. As you can tell from the title, he's in AP. *SIGH*

I had him run down the questions he was asked and he was asked WAAAAYYYY too many questions (IMHO) about his brother (who is married to my cousin). I mean I kind of expected that they would ask a couple questions just because of the family angle. But I feel that they asked way too many. This is about our relationship, not theirs. I understand that it could look like my FBIL/CIL would want his brother here but to be fair he has been married to my cousin since 2002 and came here in 2003. My view of things says he would have been trying to get his baby brother here years before now.

One other thing that gave me pause as to why he could have been put in AP was the question of "what does your fiance do", to which FH answered "massaging". I AM a Licensed Massage Therapist, but I believe they wanted to know what I do for regular work. I feel that should have been worded differently, ie "where does your fiancee work?" For FH's thought process asking what someone does, is what they do in their spare time. In his mind that's totally different than what does your fiance do for work/where does your fiance work. KWIM

All in all I know God is in control, but they didn't even give FH a date to come back. Just that they would call him if they needed more information.

Africa: Sub-SaharanPolice Clearance in Nigeria
FH just called me in a panic saying that he is trying to get his police certificate and an acquaintance who is a police officer says:

1) he has to go get fingerprinted.
2) he has to undress and be checked for scars.
3) he has to submit the request through Benin City who will submit it to Lagos and bring the results back to Benin City. All of which will take 1-2 weeks.
4) he can not go directly to Lagos to get it.
5) the clearance will cost him 25,000 naira. (that seems like an awful lot to me).

FH does not live in Nigeria any longer. He is just home visiting and had to get a new passport, birth certificate and this police clearance. He has already been there since Dec 27th and needs to get back to The Gambia where he lives now. We really can't afford to have him spend another 2-3 weeks in Nigeria. He waited to get the police clearance last because he needed to get the passport and birth certificate first in order to present them when requesting the certificate.

Are the above steps correct? Is there anyway around this? Also he is under the impression that if he tells them he needs the clearance for immigration/travel purposes they will charge him more so he doesn't want to tell them exactly why he needs it. What should I advise him on that part?

Africa: Sub-SaharanDealing with financial issues
I have had similar discussions with my fiance regarding finances. He doesn't ask me for money at all. I usually send over money for the necessities of what needs to be done because waiting for him to get up enough money to do things would take too long. :) One thing is he never threatened me about leaving me over money or how long this process is taking. I would advise to pray on this and try your best to look at things objectively. When my FH was home in Nigeria (after being gone for 4years) last month, he was so disheartened with how expensive things had become. But he had his brother there telling him this is just the way things are now, we make it ok. He brother went on to tell him, he does odd jobs to make money to eat, bills and phone credits. He said he doesn't need to live richly although that would be nice. Right now since he doesn't have a job, he does the best he can. My FH took all this in and even did a couple of odd jobs himself so I wouldn't be worried. His main point was to be able to take care of himself and leave some of the stress off me because I definitely don't have it like that.

It could be the stress of everything but I would definitely ask God to reveal the root of why your fiance is acting this way now. I will pray for you as well. :)

Well they're not on VJ but my cousin has been married to my future hubby's oldest brother for the past 8 years. They have two beautiful little boys who are learning a wonderful mix of Edo (future hubby & cousin in law are from Benin City, Nigeria), Spanish and English. They'll be some of the smartest young men on the block. LOL

There are definitely ups and downs, but they're holding strong. I see what happens in their marriage and take what I can to learn from it in order to apply it to mine when it comes about.

The CR Embassy tries to be as accomodating as possible. I believe that date is assigned by NVC, so you should be able to contact the Embassy directly and get it moved up. Usually you can get an interview within 2-3 weeks in CR. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

BTW- My petitions got touches two days in a row, so I'm hoping our turn is coming soon!

I received my I-129F (for K3) NOA1 on 11/4, but STILL cannot get case updates over the net nor VSC phone line. I have called twice to inquire about it, but keep getting told not to worry about and that my case is being processed. I can't help it, I am worried nonetheless. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Visa Questions and Clarification
Hi,

Yes, all this is overwhelming! Have you looked at all at the K1 (fiance) visa? Currently these are being processed more quickly than the K3's. (So if getting to your husband is the #1 priority this should be the quickest way.) The terms of the K1 state that you enter the country and marry within 90 days. During that time period, you cannot come and go from the U.S (from what I understand). You could still plan your spiritual/ religious marriage ceremony wherever, so long as it is not legally binding. I'm not sure what the approval rate is like for Canadians, but in general, I have heard positive on the K1.

I only mention this option b/c my husband and I are now in semi-regret that we did not pursue that route. If we had, we would surely be in each other's arms today (provided we were approved!). Instead, we married legally in his country in May and had over a 4 month wait for our marriage certificate to be released (gotta love Latin America). So therefore, we are now over 8 months into our marriage and only 3 months along in the I-130/K3 process. Just thought I'd put in my two cents... Good luck with whatever you decide! No matter what, you will have plenty of VJ support along the way!

I just realized that I accidently listed my stepdaughter's birthday one day off on the I-130. It is correct on the I-129F. We are not seeking any type of visa for her at this time.

How/ when should I notify USCIS of this error? I don't want to make my petition go any slower. Plus, I am a little worried this mistake will affect our app. Am I worried for no reason? Thoughts? unsure.gif

BTW... I-129F NOA1 11/4/08 and still no status available online or through phone system...

I'm sure your visa will be approved faster because of the fact that it was transferred! Good luck!!!

Orlando... good.gif

Actually mine wasn't one of the ones transferred. I was just hoping that since some were, VSC might reach the Oct/Nov filers a little faster. If my husband and I get approved by Springtime, we'll probably forego the K3 and go the CR1 route. No matter what, our goal is to be together by our one year anniversary (May 8). Might be a little too optimistic, but one can hope...
