Didn't get any answers over at bringing family members to USA, so I'll try here instead.

My son has his CR2 visa interview on Monday in Montreal. Does my husband (USC & Petitioner) need to attend the interview??

Actual pics would be better... If you have digital pics, just save them on some sort of media, go to nearest Walgreen and get 4X6 copies of few pictures (6 cents each). Also, you don't have to send whole album....just 5-10 pics are enough....

OFFICIAL Tax Transcripts are much more preffered. Bank statements if any. Lease would surely help. Since you guys have a kid I think this should be good enough. Oh yes, make sure you add pictures too.


Thanks a bunch jkD. We dont have any joint bank accounts, although I could probably get something from the bank saying that we are eachothers beneficiary. I guess I'll ask the landlord to draw up a lease. I will include some pics too. Thanks for the reminder.

I am preparing my package and realized that I dont really have any solid evidence. This is what I have so far:
Copies of passport and green card (immigrant spouse)
Copy of our childs birth certificate
Two sworn affidavits by USC friends
Random pages from out cell phone bill showing family plan with both users
Front page of our 2008 and 2009 tax returns
Copies of both users on car insurance
Copy of health insurance claims showing he's on my policy
Copies of our airline itineraries from 2009 and 2010 vacations
Utility bill in spouses name

Im trying to get a copy of something from my 401k showing him as beneficiary, and trying to find something that lists him as an authorized user on a credit card acct.

What else do I need to include? I can have a lease agreement written up if need be.
Is this enough?

You need to send it in ASAP, and once you get your NOA1, that extends your greencard for a year. You must keep your NOA with your expired GC in order for it to remain valid. Hopefully your new card will be processed well before that year is up.

Dont know if this would help, but how about including information on things that you guys have done together to show its a bonafide relationship. I dont mean purchases and finances etc. I mean vacations etc, family dinners etc. Send copies of itineraries or pics from events. Too much of one type of evidence may seem like a business relationship, and not a marriage.

Yay! I just got a text message and an email saying to check my status. I went online, and found:

On February 14, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Funny, because I checked it earlier this morning as I do everyday, and it still hadnt been touched since 11/22, which was after biometrics. I am ecstatic.

Hi, Lucy4 and Mo_Mati. I remember both of you from when we were all waiting for AOS two years ago!



For both AOS and K-1 (I-129F), the recommendation was NOT to staple your package. Instead, fasten it using a two-hole punch at the top of the pages. As for the check, hmm, I don't really remember specific advice about that, but what we did both times was put the check in an envelope and attach that envelope to the front of the package using the two-hole punch clip. I did not want to give them any excuse to lose my check!! I would think paper clip would be fine also. I'd recommend against stapling it just because it could be torn when they remove it.

This Friday is the first day we can file, but we will probably at least need the weekend to get our package together. Hoping to file--and official join this thread!--next Monday. :)


Hi SonoranSongbird, I think I remember you too. What I ended up doing was fastening the evidence together with a small staple in the upper left corner, paperclipping the check to the 3 pg I-751 form, and putting a large paper clip on the entire package. I put the whole thing in a file folder with "I-751 removal of conditions for: (husbands name) and A#123-45-678" written on the tab.

lucy4 - you have lots of solid evidence so far!

Three things that I think you should add if you can:

  • YES, get a lease. I got my landlord to write one up just for this, even though we are month-to-month (from the start)
  • Bank accounts together? Print up a selection of statements spanning the time you have had them. I even highlighted things like rent, joint health insurance payment, joint car insurance payment...
  • Order the tax transcripts from the IRS. It only takes around a week or so to arrive. I've always seen that they prefer that to your tax forms. (I guess it makes sense, anyone could print up a filled-out tax form on TurboTax, or even by hand, and then not submit it to the IRS ....)
With those three things I think you cover all the basics that people recommend. Post your list out on the main board though, maybe I'm forgetting something.

Do you own a car together and/or is it registered in both of your names? That would be great to include.

Other ideas: can you get both of your names on a utility account? Or send one from you, one from him... You have photos? I gather that those are not the strongest evidence but expected. Cards sent to you? Joint memberships in a health club, video rental, automobile association?

Thanks Serenity, these are some great ideas. Unfortunately we dont have a joint bank acct, and only my name is on the vehicle title. Were both listed on the insurance though. I will add photos, but does it matter if they are printed from a computer rather than actual photos. I guess if I wait for the tax transcripts, I'll have time to print some new photos. I'll include from the wedding forward. I did have a utility bill with both names, but it just so happens we dont have that acct anymore. I'll try to find an old bill. I do have some cards sent for our anniversary etc.

Keep in mind that NO evidence is required for the AOS application. Evidence is needed at the interview, not for the application. Good luck with everything and try not to stress! Also, keep in mind that that you can often do walk-in biometrics as soon as you get the appt. letter.

Hi Everybody

The 90 days before the expiration of my conditional residency start this weekend. So I have to send my I-751 to remove my conditional status from my residency. I am feeling stressed with this process and i really need your help!!!!I am navigating this process on my own with no attorneys help. so you guys are my lawyers!.....My questions are...........

1. Is there a special format that I need to use when writing my cover letter? Should the cover letter contain a table of contents?

2. Should I give an explaination in my cover letter of the documentation that I am including.

3. How many pictures should I include? I want to layout pictures on legal paper and write something about the picture below. Is this a good format?

4. Other formating tips specifically how to bind the documents when sending them in? staples? large clips?

That happened to me a couple weeks ago, probably two week ago...someone male asked for me and had a weird voice(now, that made sense, was a jamaican acent...i know because a lived in jamaica for two years).....he was calling all day long (probably three times) but i was at work and i never answered numbers that i dont know.....finally, i answered in the night...he asked for me by my full name and i said...yes, i am...and he hung up the phone.... ....the call was from a restricted number and in the night from a 800- number... i am getting worry now!!!!

I never informed them about my address change(I moved a month after a received my green card in the mail)...they know my new address now that i sended my I-751 a couple weeks ago....that wasn't a problem...i received my NOA1 letter to my new address without any inconvenience!!!...i also didn't know that we have to inform them about address changing!...so don't worry, everything is OK :thumbs:

Hi everybody....

I want to know if this happened to somebody else.....i got approved on June 23/10 (Removal Condition Green card)...i received a e-mail letting me know that i got approved that day, also, a received mail on the 25/10 (Congratulation letter)...i checked my e-mail a couple days ago and a received another e-mail from USCIS saying that i got approved on July 7/10...Yesterday a checked my e-mail and they said that they sent my congratulation letter by mail on July 8/10....so....why i received a congratulation letter on june 25 and now i am going to receive a new one....which one is the right one?????...i also checked my case status online and before on june 25 the new update said DECISION: Green card ordered......i checked Today again and said POSTDECISION.....i don't really understand? Has this happened to someone else? :blink: :bonk:

1. a copy of my front page passport( shows my gender),
2. My Birth certificate is in Spanish (Somebody knows where to bring it to be traslate to the English Language?...They want an Official traslation)...
3. Copy of my expired Green Card
4. Copy of my daughter birth certicate where show that i am the mother
5. Copy of my marriage certicate
6. Some pictures
7. a doctor's note when he say thta i am a female
8. What do you guys think about a copy of my Driver License?

will this situation is going to affect my term to apply for my naturalization? I called again and they said that probably i am going to need a new Biometric test, and can take the process between 5 to 6 months.

i checked to my I-751 and they don't ask about my gender (like Hondo1z said)

Hi everybody!!!!

I just received in the mail my 10 years Green card....thats the good news!!! The bad news is that the card put my sex as M (male) and I am F (female). I just called the 800 number......customer service and they said I had to fill out an I90 form and prove my sex. I asked what i shpuld use to prove my gender and they did not give me a concrete example. The person that i spoke to also told me that i need to prove that the error was an administartive error....because if I am responsible for the error i have to pay $370.00. My expired green card definately says i am a F (female). I am sure I filled out the form correctly. The person that i spoke to also told me that the process could take as long as 6 months.!!!!!!!!! can you belive that?????????????...i am so sad!!!!!!!!!!!......Does anyone have ideas that could help my situation...ie what documents to use to prove my gender? A way that wont take 6 months? Similar situations? Thanks for your help!.

I received my NOA1 in the mail today!!!! 04-08-10. NOA 1 is dated 03/30/10 if someone would be so kind and change that in the list?...i was trying to do it but i think that i did it wrong!....thank!!!! :thumbs:
