Well, I finally got someone to put in a service request!!!! However, I was not able to catch up with the contact at Sen. Dodd's office, so that will be #1 for tomorrrow. I may also call the lady at Rep's office because she was the one who told me it was with an Officer last week. Maybe she can make another inquiry for me. I just really hope we get approval this week, so the thing can be on its way to NVC.

In Costa Rica, you call to schedule your interview (the number and instruction is in the 3 packet). Unfortunately though, I wasn't able to get through today. Due to work obligations, the earliest I could call was 10 minutes before the interview call center closed and no one answered. Guess they decided to take an early Friday lunch! grrr. I'll try again on Monday.

As for me, the Embassy told Diego today that he can pick up the packet on Tuesday and after that he can make the interview. You have to pick up the packet in the afternoon and make the appointment in the morning, so it will be Wednesday when we finally set an appt. date.

Hi all!

Laptop is dying so I'll be quick. Turns out I was able to set the appt. Monday morning and they gave us this Wednesday. Crazy!!!! So I bought a ticket and left for CR on Tuesday. We spent 5 hours at the embasssy for a 3 minute interview... DIEGO GOT APPROVED!!!!!!!!!

We are planning on coming home on Tuesday! I can't even believe it. Everything happened so fast in the end. We're going to the embassy momentarily to pick up the visa.

Hi all! I miss you guys too! Things have been soooo busy. As Jen said, Diego got through POE in Atlanta really fast and with NO questions at all. He was shocked! We got into Hartford late Tuesday night and we're enjoying our time together. So far he is adjusting pretty well and my grumpy male cat is in love with him. It feels 100% natural to have him here. We sent his work permission out yesterday and will start the driver's license stuff soon. He has to do driver's ed. Poor Diego!

Hi all! In order to get D a license we have to get that ineligibility letter from the SSA. At the CT DMV, they told us we just had to go over there and get it. Probably one of those hurry up and waits we're all used to at this point.

I am still not 100% sure if D is allowed to study on the K3. The officer from the interview saw that he was planning on studying and said nothing. However, when he picked up the visa they told him he can't work OR study on the K3. Does anyone know for sure?

Hi all!

Sorry it has been soooooo long since I was on VJ! I hope everyone is doing well. I miss y'all. As for me & D, we're doing well. We were only home for less than a week when we went down to Puerto Rico (for my job). Then last week, we kept busy running errands and went to Six Flags on Friday afternoon. Diego loved it! He'd never been on roller coaster in his life. Yesterday we went down to NYC for the day to meet up with some friends.

I got the NOA1 on our EAD (sent to VSC) about a week ago. Keeping our fingers crossed!

CnT, I can relate on the driving thing. In CT, D has to take Driver's Ed. It's expensive, but might be worth it for the stress it will save me. tongue.gif

IndiaAnyone has experience with Xoom, Remit2India, Money2India?
I have dealt with xoom to Philippines. It is decent to use. The money was transferred quick. I did bank account to bank account transfer. There is a charge other than just the 5.99 transfer. Like the exchange rate for Philippines is p42.38, but xoom will give you p41.38. Its a small charge. Western union is a $10 fee between bank accounts, $4 more, but they give you the full exchange rate. So in my case, anything I transfer less than $168 USD is better through xoom than western union.

Thats the feedback I can give.

A lot of asians do think that the US is more or less paradise. They do try to get here with that mind set. But USC do try to go over there as well. Some USC want to go there with the money made here. Some places are just crowded, so growing up there you would always have friends around. The notion of being inexpensive and quick is ludicrous. It's somewhat inexpensive to the beneficiary because they are poor to begin with. Are they going to send the filing fee when they can barely afford food? Sending documents for filing is maybe the extent of the beneficiary's expenses. The I-130 is now quicker than the K3 visa, but having already waited for 5 months I can assure you that its not quick. For the application to sit for that long untouched and unassigned is obviously too long. Yes the debate about waiting does weed out some who really werent in love, but you dont want to give up any time without someone when you really love them. It is accepted in those countries because so many do it. Just think how here there are 'freedoms' yet many gays stay in the closet. A higher percentage of the poplation in the asian countries are active in religion (church.. ect) but yet its 'acceptable' to be gay there which is against the religion. Its just accepted there. Whether its a better choice to stay there or leave for the US is just that, a choice. When they can see the future and how things play out, be sure to let me know.
