Good morning family.

Together and Ann Taylor - you and your families are in our prayers (F) My condolences.

No, we didn't make the Sizzla show last night  By the time Damien made up his mind - the tickets sold out. We'll see him next month at the Sumfest.

Who else will be performing at Sumfest?

Question for today. Who's your SO's favorite JA musical group or artist? Yours?

What did you decide?

Yes, it has been very quite in here this week. I hope everyone's ok.

Once again, my weekly regrets to Rhonda for having to work yet another full day on Saturday :(

Well I'm finally getting things packed up and have contracted a mover. I'm really getting excited about the move.

Hey everyone,
Just checkin in. I hope you're all doing well.

My husband's father died :( last night in JA. So it's a stressful time right now. I hope that he'll be able to go home however our AP hasn't been approved yet. I know that the K3 is supposedly supposed to allow you to travel back and forth if you have applied for AOS. However, we applied for the AP just for extra protection. We've heard so many different stories so we want to be on the safe side. Today I noticed that his EAD has been approved so we're waiting on the card and his AP was touched finally. So I really hope that it will be approved ASAP. Then his AOS interview is a little over 2 weeks away. It seems like the funeral may be at least 2-3 weeks from now so I'm hoping that at least he'll be able to go home. We already planned to go in July so if everything works out we may be able to change his ticket so that he can go for a longer period and I will go at the orginally scheduled time.

I'll keep you all posted.

Take care

Saundra, my condolences go out to you and your husband and his family.

Both out files got "touched" last night.....really hoping that EAD card is in the mail....

It's 7:00am and Roy is cooking fried chicken and rice & peas. It's his last day of school for the semester and they are having a pot luck party. Can I just tell you how weird it is to wake up smelling really good food?!?!

Congrats on getting touched. Hopefully you will get the good news soon. What kind of job would Roy like to do?

Hmm...chicken and rice & peas.

For those with family in CT- We just experienced severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, flooding, debris all over the roads, downed power lines(which I got caught in); power outages, etc. So if you can't get in touch with them this is probably the reason why. More storms are on the way later tonight.

Michelle sorry to hear the packing is not going that great. I can understand. My mom and dad are moving today and we unload the truck this Thursday. Only if my mother could threw something away it could be easier. Are you a big saver and never threw anything away? What day are u moving? Stick in there it will soon be over.

No, I'm not really a packrat. I'm just having flashbacks of my last move. I'm also the worst procrastinator there is. I have too many clothes; shoes etc and I am also unorganized  . I also don't like asking anyone for help even though I have had many offers. My closing is scheduled for 6/16; but I don't have to move out until mid-July. It's just so overwhelming. :crying:

Update: one closet cleared of shoes; packed 81 pairs so far :o ; does not include 2nd closet;
shoes at work and in car :hehe:. Going back in...

Hello Ladies! It's pretty quiet in here right now. I hope everyone's weeknd was nice. We just got back today from visiting my parents. The boys had a ball.

Ricardo bought me a new car on saturday! It is a really nice mini van( i thought i would never buy one but ours is really cute!) We needed a new car because we need the 3 rows cuz I can't fit 3 car seats in 1 row! It's so special because this is his first car that he has ever financed and he did it all on his own. It''s all his credit and without a cosigner. FRom here on the skies the limit!

 Congrats!

:D HELLO everyone,

Just wanted to stop in and say hello and I hope everyone is doing great!!! I am doing OK, I was suppose to go back to work today and work some overtime but they called and canceled it, so I will go back to work Thurs night...I feel like I have been off of work for ever.
Adrian and I are keeping in contact but I dont think there is much of a future for us except to be friends, I think he still has hopes that we will be together again :( ...but who knows what the future holds....right now I am just doing what I can to occupy my time and getting back to work is really what I need.

Joanna,

Good to hear you're coming along okay. It's good that you and Adrian can still talk...especially when everything is so fresh.

All the best.

The Verney house hotel is cheap and has a nice pool. You just need to tell them in advance if you are eating in. If Mrs Sterling is there she gives you a kiss on the check and she always my children. Love her to death. You can sit on the rooftop and look at the stars too.

Also best wishes to Tenika and Rohan with their upcoming wedding.
Tenika how is Rohan adjusting to life in the states?

Questions for this morning... Who's the better cook between you? What's their favorite "American" dish? What Jamaican dish is their speciality?

Thanks,
Rohan is getting along great. He says he doesnt miss Jamaica in the least bit.
Questin for the morning:
I think we are both great cooks in out own right. I can cook everything from Italian to Spanish, but not good on the Jamaican, He is a good cook but only of Jamaican food. He LOVES macaroni and cheese, he would eat off a whole box for breakfast

that is funny...mike is the same way....everytime i am in JA we get so many boxs of it..it is crazy...

Ditto thats all Dwain wants to eat when he gets here. he said he could save us money that way  I made it once down there for him and he can't get enough

mike also came up with a new meal out of mac and cheese...anyway he thinks it new...sshh don't tell him it's not...but he adds minced beef to it...and he calls it Beef Splash   it is actually good...sometimes if he is really crative he will had jerk seasoning...so now he thinks he is a chef

******
One time Tristan asked me what I was having for dinner. I said "a meatball grinder". For people not from Connecticut a "grinder" is what you would call a sub(marine) or hoagie or torpedo. I understand in different parts of the country a "grinder" has other connotations :hehe: . So anyways he wanted to know what meat balls were. When I told him it was ground beef he said "oh, beef balls". :o Which of course when you think of it makes sense. But I nearly died when he said that

Nanny - I hope your interview date comes soon. Makes no sense how this law affects those already in the process. Just take this time to prepare for his arrival, and your plans for AOS.

Check this link: Per capita income by state

Connecticut is the number one state on the list for largest per capita income; but I'm sure if I did some further research that it would also have the highest cost of living too.

the wedding between us is not going to happen...he kept pushing me and pushing me to tell him how I felt (I had told him several times already) till finally I blew up and raised my voice (which I try not to do)...it is over..earlier today I called the cruise line to see if they will rehire him on the ship and they said they would check into it and for him to call back next Monday and talk to a lady about it. As for now he is going to his brother-in-laws house in South Florida,...its a 3 hour drive but I really did not want to have to drive that far with him and then have to drive 3 hours back by myself tomorrow so I got him a plane ticket for tomorrow morning. I told him he has till Augest to stay in the states and he can see if he can get back on the cruise ship for work....I am not as mean as I sound I am going to give him about $700.00 for him to get by.
I am going to loose about $4,000.00 for canceling the wedding but my parents say they would rather me be happy then to regret it in the end.

all i can say is WOW!!!!i feel real sorry to hear this...poor guy...i mean do you think 700$ is really enough for him??? we all know how expensive it is in the states..and plus he will need to buy a ticket to ja and tickets aren't cheap....poor guy i mean to have your life completly torn up in a matter of days and all you get is a ticket and 700 bucks...how nice...
i know i am going to get a lot of ####### for this...but he is human too...he has feelings too...i'm not saying that going though with the wedding is the best option either but just making someone leave after they have put all of there trust into you and only to get a ooppss sorry my mistake i think is pretty selfish..

I am not going to give you ####### for your comments, but I feel like I must reply. First of all, you don't know the whole story. You're not the one marrying this guy and saying "til death do you part". That is HER decision because she has to live with it. I agree with you on some points, I do feel sorry for Adrian. He left his job and his home to come here only to be turned away a few days later. It is a very difficult situation for both people involved. Yes, it would have made things a lot easier if she/they had come to this conclusion earlier on in the process before he quit his job and flew to the U.S. However, life is not always easy. We can just hope that Adrian can get his job back, if that's what he wants, and continue on with his life. And, if he does get his job back, he won't have to pay for a ticket back to Jamaica, because the cruise line he works for will fly him from Florida to wherever they need him to start working.

On a more positive note, the fact that he will be remaining in Florida for awhile may be a good thing. Maybe time apart from each other will give them both a chance to think about things and re-evaluate their relationship and what they both want out of it. Who knows, maybe there will be a change of heart (L) and they will come back together. I belive in fate and if it's meant to be, it will be. For now though, I will give Joanna my support and hope for the best for her AND Adrian.
:luv:

Ditto, excellent repsonse Rhonda.

It should also be noted that Adrian's POE was JFK. He should have been given a stamp to work until the K-1 visa expires.

I wish the best for both of them.

So...nobody explained what a biometrics appointment is......I feel soooo lost!!!

Kim, here's the definition from the State Department's website:

What is a Biometric?

A biometric or biometric identifier is an objective measurement of a physical characteristic of an individual which, when captured in a database, can be used to verify the identity or check against other entries in the database. The best known biometric is the fingerprint, but others include facial recognition and iris scans.

I hate to kill the mood so early in the morning but we got some bad news last night. Our beloved pastor in Jamaica died.
To make things even harder on his family (he has 11 children) one of his daughters and her husband gave birth to their first baby only hours after he was gone. So if you could all please say a prayer for their family and the community as well as Andre and myself. It is really hard to go through this 3,000 miles away and as much as we would like to go down for the funeral we don't have the funds nor does Andre have his greencard. Thanks in advance for the prayers...I know they will be powerful (L)

Jamie

I'm sorry to hear of this bad news Jamie :( My thoughts are with you. It's just amazing though that he had a grandchild born just hours after his death. You know the old saying, for every death there is a new birth...

Jamie and Andre you're in my thoughts as well.

Joanna, everything will be ok. Any woman that has been on her own for a long time; and doing well at it; is bound to have pre-wedding jitters. That independent spirit that we have is something else ;)...
And I'm sure Adrian will find a job soon; especially in your area. Boy that was a close call with the timing of the visa and flight. Please let us know when we gets in tonight.

Have a good night everyone.

Hi negayle-welcome.

It's supposed to read when "he" gets in tonight :P . Too much cold medicine :goofy:
