Hello family.

Damien and I celebrated 2 our anniversary today  Looking forward to many more...

My mother reserved a nice hotel room for us last night. I decided to keep it a secret from Damien. My friends decorated the room with balloons, rose petals, heart shaped confetti, and Hershey Kisses (heart shape on the bed). They also put Appleton rum, chocolate fondue with strawberries and oils for massages in our room. We had a wonderful night. Damien was pleasantly surprised.

Happy belated anniversary!!

I just got an update from NVC and they say that I am missing info so they are sending me a letter telling me what I am missing bummer.

Sorry to hear that Jax  Good luck - I'm sure it's nothing major.

 you've been breezing through the process; I'm sure you'll be fine.

Good morning!

Only 3 more sleeps and he will be here. I feel like I am counting down for a trip to Jamaica.
Then we can argue (or should I say) disagree face to face. I don't know if it is because he is getting nervous but he has be short with me. Oh well, it is the beginning.
He will be coming in either at 9:30 pm if all goes well with immigration at JFK or he can catch the 10:00 pm flight and get into Boston at 11:30. I am taking Friday off so we can go out and about and Monday is MLK holiday and I have that off too.
I guess I am getting nervous too!! :)

  Boy that came fast; are you all set?

I'm getting married this Sunday  and I would like to change my name. Jay wouldn't have it any other way, anyway. I know I'll have to go back to the SS office, but how do I change my name in my passport? How do I handle this name-change when we are applying for AOS etc? Is there a webpage that we could be directed to?

Thanks Guys,

Mars.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage!!

I was looking for deals on grocerys because I am trying to find ways to save when my husband gets here. I found this excellent site called http://www.thegrocerygame.com/. You can sign up for a free trial for 4 weeks. The site offers how to get the best deals at grocery stores. I saved 23 dollars on my first trip. I recomend signing up on Sunday and cutting your copouns out of your Sunday paper. I just marked the items on wanted on the list looked for the copouns and I was off.

The Grocery Game is a easy way to save hundreds of dollars on groceries each month. TERI'S LIST reveals the "rock bottom" prices on hundreds of products each week and matches them up with manufacturers' coupons for the best possible savings at your local supermarket. The Grocery Game has exclusive databases that track manufacturers' coupons along with weekly sales and specials, both advertised and UN-advertised. With TERI'S LIST, the days of time consuming work required for effective coupon-ing are over. The Grocery Game does all the hard work and research, presented in a quick reference format on the internet each week, as TERI'S LIST.

If you like it after the trial its 5 dollars a month.

Knowing that there will be 2 of us living off of my salary any little bit helps. He also eats twice as much as me  !!

Next I am look at the best cable package deal thinking about switching from Comcast to the dish or AT&T. Any ideas B)

Good looking out Jax, thanks for all the money saving tips .

I remember those days....seems like just yesterday. Keep the faith -- he will be soon!!

:(

Why the sad face?

Yeah....what's up with that?

Maybe Jayandmars sad face was because FutureMrs said that she missed her mom. That's my guess anyways.

FutureMrs-holidays are always difficult when you're missing deceased loved ones. I miss my mom too.

Congrats Anna on starting your journey!!

Jonesie- I hope your move goes smoothly. I still have stuff in boxes from my move in the summer  . We just found out that my company made a serious financial mistake that will cost hundreds of jobs. I may have to move again if I'm one of those who gets laid off :( .

Jill-in the northeast we have had one of the warmest Decembers ever and I have only seen a couple of flurries so far this season. No snow on the horizon either. Can't say I miss shoveling snow though.

Everyone have a great day!!

I am having a REALLY bad day today :crying: It started out ok - I was getting my usual manicure/pedicure when I dropped my cell phone in the tub full of water :bonk: Now it's all messed up - barely working - and I am so mad at myself  Then when I got home me and Tony got in a huge fight - over what I do not know. He will NOT communicate with me - it's one of the biggest problems with our relationship. I am just beside myself. When I left for work he wouldn't even speak to me <_< And if he makes that "kiss teet" sound one more time with his mouth I am gonna be going to jail for murder :ranting: :girlwerewolf2xn:

HELP!!! :help:

Rhonda it might to be too late but I just saw a thing on TV that says that if your cell phone gets wet- to open up the battery pack remove it and dry the phone with a blowdryer as soon as you retreive it from the water. The correspondant said that you will probably have to replace the battery but may be able to save the phone.

...in my opinion I don't believe that Kelly is ready to give up on her marriage yet. That's totally up to her because she has to make her own decisions. I believe that she's using the comments made by others to show to Craig to "prove" to him that he's not acting in an appropiate manner to get him to shape up.
Kelly's inclined to think that things are ok now since other other woman is seemingly out of the picture; but I'm afraid that it's only a temporary improvement to her marriage.

So Michele, how's YOUR relationship going? Have you filed yet? You seem so inclined to comment on everyone else's relationships, but you never talk about your OWN. How do you know whether it's a "temporary improvement" to her marriage? Maybe you should take Kelly's lead and share some personal info. of yours.

How do I know if it's a temporary improvement? I don't. It is very possible that Craig has seen the error of his ways and they can move on from here and build up their marriage. I hope for Kelly's sake that they can and Kelly knows that.

I didn't know that I was commenting on everyone else's relationships, other to offer encouragement to those going through the process. However I will check on my previous posts to see if I am commenting inappropriately, and if I'm guilty, thanks for pointing it out; and I will put myself in check.
By being so candid; Kelly has indeed probably done a great service to some who may see the same thing in their own relationship and take heed. My point was she is getting a lot of "dump him" comments. If and when she's ready she will; if not then that's her business too.

If I think the details of my relationship or lack thereof will benefit you; I'll let you know.

Well I'm not going to endear myself to anyone by what I'm about to say but here goes...in my opinion I don't believe that Kelly is ready to give up on her marriage yet. That's totally up to her because she has to make her own decisions. I believe that she's using the comments made by others to show to Craig to "prove" to him that he's not acting in an appropiate manner to get him to shape up. Which he probably does for a while. I'm not going to pretend to know everything that goes on in their household and Kelly has stated that they do have some good times together. I don't believe that if someone is really determined to end a relationhip that they have to go to extremes. However I know that when I was really ready for a relationship to end I would do whatever was necessary, barring breaking the law or breaking my moral conscienceness, to end it. Kelly's inclined to think that things are ok now since other other woman is seemingly out of the picture; but I'm afraid that it's only a temporary improvement to her marriage.

Men and women will hit on married people and not care one iota about their marital status. My former husband was a body builder and men always hit on me in his presence. A lot of times older men would offer me things that my husband couldn't afford to give me at that time. I never once entertained the thought. We never had to worry about each other because of our devotion to each other and our marriage vows. We were both married at a very young age too.

Any man(or woman) that is married and uses another woman for "favors" whether it be money or whatever is no good. I don't care what other qualites that he has that are endearing to you. The "handwriting is on the wall". Sorry.

I'm sorry if I'm offending Kelly or anyone else but I wouldn't say anything if I didn't care enough.

I really don't mean to single out one person here because I know there are some may very well find themselves in the same position.

Whatever decision Kelly makes, I sincerely wish her well.

I agree with you that she is not ready to leave the marriage. I going out on a limb here and people may kill me for saying this but I think she likes the attention that she is getting from everyone on the thread. I am not saying this to be mean. I am just saying it like I see it. Not many people would put up with such BS. I know I wouldn't and I am not the USC.

Have at it...
LIKE THE ATTENTION ????? Now YOU are a total trip !!!!! It's called SUPPORT, ADVICE, opinions, etc...... shoot at least "I" am putting my business "out there" to help others that may be (or might go through) the same situation. I've been on this site since May of last year and ask those that know me know that I never really ever put my business out there, but I KNOW that there are several women on here that have gone (or are going) through what "I" am going through (not to this extreme)....some have made it, and some are still trying............but "I" have had the courage to post "my" entire f**d up situation!!!

Thanks for the laugh though !!!
I know for a fact that Kelly is actually one who doesn't put her business out there. She mistakenly replyed to someone else and it somehow got posted so that everyone on this forum could see her personal message. It was at that time the "cat was let out of the bag". From that point on since everyone chimed in; including myself, to try and give her advice. I feel that she is at her wits end and it doing what she feels is best. Kelly is absolutely right. She is not the only one who has gone through this and hopefully if someone can see themselves in her posts they can take notice and really examine if this truly is the right relationship for them.

Shemanya-let us know who your class went today. I have a dvd and one section has basic belly dancing moves and I will say that it does give you a little self-confidence and remove your inhibitions a bit.

Someone mentioned something about belly dancing if you actually had a belly; well that brings to mind a few years ago when I went to Hawaii-my former husband and I went to a luau and we went to a show where the best hula dancer on all of the islands at the time was a man who weighed over 500 lbs (yes, you read right). Boy could that man move . So go ahead and shake that thang.

Good morning. The main reason why I love my belly dancing class is that we dance to soca, old and new reggae and dancehall music...makes it much sexier. I never thought I would move my hips to...Flex, Time to Have Sex by Shabba Ranks or Whine like a Gypsy by Elephant man

Stripping aint' easy....my whole body aches. I have to postpone my performance until next month (our 2nd year anniversary)...need more pratice. I brought the instructors dvd. One of her dvds was filmed in Jamaica..at Hedomism

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

That does sound like a lot of fun. Can you please PM me with the name of the DVD and where I can purchase it? Thanks.

Hello family.

Damien and I brought our wedding bands together but I paid for the majority of the cost. He still does not feel good about it. He wanted to buy me another ring for our 1st year anniversary but couldn't believe how much they cost  I have to keep reminding him that it doesn't matter because the ring don't make the marriage. We finally agreed that when he makes more money then I'll get my ring. He's still trying though because he received a credit card in the mail from a jewerly store. He was so upset because the credit limit was only $300  It's a start.

We went to the JP to get married then had a reception two months later. My only regret is that I didn't get the chance to wear "the dress". So we're planning a small party/reception for his family in JA in July. Then we're going to take pictures on the beach all dressed up. I get to shop for the "a dress" finally.

aren't weddings fun!!! I love it!!

They really are  . Am I being silly for wanting to wear "a dress"? I didn't want to wear a wedding dress to the JP.

girl, that's not silly at all. Most women dream of the wedding day and "the dress" from their youth. Go for it girl, get a big white pretty dress and enjoy it to the maxx!!! i saw girls in the jp last week wearing big prom frock and wedding gowns, i was like hell to the nah

I agree- go for it; and why not, you deserve it.

For those of you whose taste in engagement rings exceeds your finace's savings, what have you done?
1. Allowed them to purchase one with whatever savings they have even if it's not your taste?
2. Loaned them the money to get something more suitable?
3. Purchase it yourself? Were they insulted?
4. Get a nice CZ-since most people will never know anyways?
5. Other?

Michele~ I wouldnt say that it is the wedding I have always wanted and to clarify I will be exchanging vows again this summer before our big reception for more family and friends. This ceremony on Saturday will be in front of a very small crowd. I didnt even send out invitations. The summer will be the BIG ceremony eventhough it will not be the one that counts LOL.

Looks like this summer and fall will be when the big bashes will be celebrated. I know that one couple will be doing it in Jamaica this fall-what about the rest of you? Here or there? If you do it here will you also have something for his side of the family in Jamaica once he's able to travel back?

It's certainly expected that as old journeys are completed and new ones are started that some will leave and some will come in. It is noted that some have been conspicuously absent of late and we miss you. We hope you're doing well, and if not, there's support here for you too. Things may not be as they were before but your input was and is still invaluable for those of us who are trying to determine if we can survive this crazy process, those in the midst of the process and new ones to come. I invite you to come back and join us, even if it's just to pop in and say hello, since we know that many lead busy lives; afterall that's what friends are for. Please don't forget the ties that bind us.

Michele (F)

Hi Everyone, I'm popping in to say hello and many many congrats to those....list is just way to long.

I had a heck of a time finding the link when it all changed over, but I checkin every now and then. I really don't have much to contribute, but do think of you guys and thank you to those that are still supportive, it means alot.

Gearing up for a trip to Jamaica in April with my son for his spring break. Looking forward to the much needed getaway. Business has been absolutely fantastic, which I'm happy that everyone's back to traveling again!

Take care and I hope I've posted this right..

:D Kelly

Ah, but Kelly-you have contributed more than you know. You and I have had some private conversations
and you have helped me in ways that you probably don't even know about. So pop in more often and let us know what's going on- and you and your son have fun on that trip!

And that's the thing about this thread-we all come from diverse backgrounds but we have a common thread. We all have different strengths and contributions to bring to the table. Some of you (and you know who you are :star: ) have offered immense support to me personally and I'm sure to others-privately and publicly and I'm sure that those frequent "guests" are benefiting also. There were many times that I would have thrown in the towel but your insight; particularly those more familar with the cultural differences, the immigration process, and the adjustment process have given me cause to seriously comtemplate our future. I've found that for those whose loved ones are not with us yet permanently that even if we think that don't really have much to "contribute" ,well-your presence does contribute. And oh, let's not forget the comic relief during this stressful process. Well enough of the heavy stuff.

Anna-did you fully recover from your wisdom teeth? How's it going since you left your night job?
How are all the honeymooners doing?
Rita-looks like everything is falling into place-I'm sure you'll have a beautiful wedding. My hats off to those who can pull off the wedding they always wanted in 90 days. My first (and only thus far) wedding took over a year to plan. I'll have to get some pointers from those who did it in less than 3 months.
Dru-did you receive your marriage license yet?
Joanna- what are you going to do with your time off? -_- :D

Have a good night everyone

For those of you that may be getting drivers license--In Virginia we had to show marriage certificate (notorized) and documents to show residency, ss card, visa and passport. After we got all that, they said they will only issue a license for the expiration date on your document K-1 visa in our case. That would have been a license for less than one month. We decided to wait until EAD and/or green card comes.

Afternoon everyone. I bet that pineapple is great. It's my favorite fruit. It's cold here and I have a fire going. I need to go out to run errands but waiting for more heat. I hate cold.

Shemayna, I know you are looking forward to Jamaica in March. I wish we were going too. I didn't apply for AP because we need the money while he is waiting for EAD to come through. He stopped working and is home now. The system needs fixing. He should be able to go to work after we married (that was the reason for the K-1 visa. I don't understand our immigration laws. Getting a driver license in Virginia is another horror story.

Have a blessed day!

Ann-can he apply for a temporary EAD until the permanent one comes? It doesn't make any sense to have that gap in employment. I think that temping might be the way to go when they first arrive; it would be a shame to get a good job then have to quit because of this kind of lapse. What are the requirments for getting a driver's license it Virginia?
good afternoon vj'ers.

just wanted to tell everyone that we just got back from our way too short week in jamaica. we had a blast, had good weather and spent so much quality time with the daughter. I am happy to be home, making money again instead of spending...

can't think of any highlights at the moment. loved this trip the most because of his daughter and because we did a lot more exploring of the country than we had in the past. we had our own car for the week...his friend let us borrow his bmw. can you belive we're driving a nissan sentra in the us and a bmw in jamaica. love it
Welcome home-glad you enjoyed your trip and had great weather. And there's nothing better than spending quality time with your children.

Welcome home Lake!

The trip....my mother and aunt decided to go with us so this will be interesting. It's good in a way because my mother and I have never been on vacation together and she will get to meet Damien's family. I hope she's on her best behaviour because she can be out of control sometimes  She's quite a comedien. We are total opposites because she's life of the party and I'm the quiet one in the back of the room. Thank God it's a short trip.

That should be a lot of fun. As an adult I only took one vacation with my mother and I dreaded it because we had a similar situation to yours. We went to visit my brother in San Diego; after not seeing him for about 3 years. And she was a trip too. But I'm glad I did it since shortly after returning she was diagnosed with a terminal illness and that trip was one of the highlights of her life. Even though she got on my last nerve; looking back; I'm glad we did it. I've learned to overlook some of the "shortcomings" of those I love that aren't really too serious and more then anything "annoying" and let them be themselves. Then I don't feel so bad when they have to put up with me  Even if your mother does let down her hair; as long as she isn't hurting anyone, just laugh and let her enjoy herself. ;)

Hello all!! I am work....doesnt look like to much action here on VJ. I have no patients and I have all my work done. I made up charts and made some copies....all the clerical stuff. The patient rooms are all stocked and ready for the next mommy. I brought the AOS paperwork here so I am gonna get started filling all that out and hopefully 7am will get here quickly. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and I look forward to chatting with some of you again real soon!!
Respect,
Rita

Yes it has been uncharacterictly quite on our spot here on VJ lately :( Maybe I need to stir a little excitement on here :P Just joking-things have actually been quite for me too. Rita hopefully your night was quiet enough so that you can get your AOS paperwork started. Are your wedding plans completed yet? What type of ceremony do you and Tahsi plan to have?

A quick question actually visa related-did any of you visit Jamaica after you applied for the visa-during the process and before the interview was scheduled? I was wondering if you're flagged as a visa applicant and if it caused any problems at the airport?

I know some you have a holiday today; so have a great day off. And for those of us who don't-have a good day as well.

Joanna- I hope you get well rested today. I know you've been working like crazy. We havn't heard from a few of the mommies-to-be in while. I hope they are all doing ok. Do you think that once Adrian gets here that you will start a family right away or wait awhile?

Ann-just about all that snow(24") that we had a week ago has melted as we had a few days of 60 degree weather after the storm. But the cold air is creeping back in.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

Hey everyone,
Well I just got home and I am excieted to say that my parents bought me my wedding dress tonight...I know it is a little soon but I found it and really liked it...I am in a wedding next Friday and I went to this little bridal store today to see about getting my bridesmaid dress hemmed and I decided I would try on a few dresses while I was there (I have tried on several at Davids bridal but they just didnt fit very good in the chest area..too big busted I guess) but this one fit like a glove, just needs to be shortened a little...I was not going to get it this earley but my mom and dad said if i really liked it they would go ahead and get it for me....plus it was on clearance and was the only one they had at the store...it was reg. priced at $799 but was 1/2 off so only $400....GREAT DEAL.

How exciting to get a beautiful dress Joanna with a perfect fit and at a good price too! Like the avatar of your "baby". He's too cute.

Congratulations and best wishes to all the newlyweds today and this week!!

I'm also thinking of the women here holding it down while they are waiting for their husbands/fiances to find suitable jobs. Some of you are working OT or 2 jobs or more and in addition some are taking care of children or other family members. My hats off to you because I know it's not easy.

And I didn't forget about the women whose husbands/fiances are still in Jamaica awaiting visa approvals-my thoughts are with you too today as I know it's not easy to be without the ones we love on this day.

If anyone is feeling lonely today for other reasons that I have not listed; much love.
