Rhonda I went to Barbados on a cruise and I loved it. In my opinion it was the most beautiful of all the Caribbean islands that I've been to. I'm hoping that would be my next trip.

Good morning (F)

Jamie-how are you doing girl? Looks like your area really got blast of winter. Maybe you can send some Jax's way since she loves it so much :D
Winter can be delayed here in CT as much as it likes. It's been a lot warmer here than it should be, but I'm sure the cold and snow will be here soon enough :help: .

Can't sleep and we just got the WORST snow storm of my entire life...well at least that I can remember. I think we are at about 15 inches and its still coming down. The worst part is its kinda warm so its slushy and we are suppose to have a cold snap and get a silver thaw (technical meteoroligist lingo :) ) There is massive wind so there is huge drifts everywhere. It is definitely interesting! Its the first time I have ever seen/heard everything to shut down...schools, county offices, everything! Crazy!

Oh and you have to remember...we live in the Pacific Northwest. We can handle rain but SNOW  I know some of you are veterans but not us! People are sooooooo stupid in the snow around here! I don't even bother...not because I couldn't drive in it but because I don't trust anyone else out there.

I saw that snowstorm on the news . Welcome to our world. Glad you're doing ok though.
Our weather forcaster said that the pattern ("El Nino" I think) means a lot of precip for the Pacific Northwest. I hope that storm is not forerunner of what's to come your way. What did Andre and Milo and Nemo think of it?
We're supposed to get into the lower 60's today; way above normal  .

Have a great Monday everyone!

well didn't get such a great phone call this morning form mr. mikey..one of his friends was stabbed and killed last night at a dance....he doesn't know all the details yet but is feeling kind of down...so please keep him in your thoguhts! (F)

I'm so sorry to hear this. The violence is Jamaica is something that is constantly on my mind. Even though I know we are not immune to the same problems here in the U.S. it just seems so commonplace there. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't fear for the lives of my loved ones there. It's so sad really.

I'm sure you can be a source of consolation to Mike Shauna. I know that you'll be happy when he finally gets here.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Congrats Stephen!!

Kim, I hope Duane feels better soon and his blood count returns to normal levels soon. How is your sister?

Jill, I don't even know what to say but my heart goes out to your family. A couple of years ago I was sick and the doc's took several thousands dollars worth of tests to determine what was wrong. None of the tests showed any abnormalites but the doctor's could see the changes in physical appearance. It was so frustrating so I can imagine how you must feel. Don't give up. Continue to ask for tests and referrals to other doctor's. What ever was wrong with me corrected itself but it was several months before I returned to normal.

Congrats to the new driver's and D :P (sorry denden I couldn't resist) and also the men and woman on their new jobs.

BTW Stephen I would love to see the pictures too. We have a group on Yahoo where mainly post pics. If you'd like to join that group please PM Ms Squitto for an invite.

Speaking of Christmas trees.....I use to decorate ours (back in my single days) with two colors every year. Yes, I'm plain and boring.

Last year Damien wanted to be in charge of the Christmas tree decorations. He was so excited because he never had a Christmas tree in JA. He brought EVERY multi-colored ornaments, flashing light bulbs, etc  We couldn't see the green on the tree and it was leaning over because the decorations were too heavy. I couldn't look at it because it made me dizzy  It was a horrible sight but his smile was priceless :D.

Well yesterday he wanted to buy a pre-lit Christmas palm tree  He wants to decorate it more and put it in our bedroom :help: He also wanted to buy more decorations for the regular Christmas tree. He become really upset when I asked if he can tone it down this year. So I'll be wearing sunglasses in our house :help:

:luv:

Hi all,
Just thot I would check in. Please put in prayers for our fam, we are still fighting this terrible scourge and I have no idea what to do other than pray about it.
Its a horrible thing, and its not scabies. I know the power of mass prayers, so please, I have been almost suicidal about this thing, as one just doesnt know what to do after they have done all they can do.

Thanks a lot

Love
Jill and fam

well for whatever reason i am the lucky person that the process has been made hard for :(
mike got there and was standing on the other side of the road and the securtiy guard announced....NO BLUE PAPERS TODAY :( :(
i'm a little frustrated because since when does the embassy get to make the rules...on the back of the paper it says nothing about today being an exception....i am just so pissed...i told mike to go and try to beg the officer to let him in because i already booked his flight for next thursday...and well of course he wouldn't...so here i sit for 2 more days until he has to go back....
i just don't understand why these things are being made so difficult for us...i'm trying to be a good sport about it and yes i know he has thursday but there are other problems like the visa what if he doesn't get it in time...the way our luck has been going he won't...i just feel like i am going to have a break down...

:(

Hello everyone.

I have some good news. Javon has the marriage cert and will be sending it to me along w/his son's birth cert this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to file by Thanksgiving.

thanks everyone for the positive thoughts!! trying to stay positive!! after talking to my mom she suggested i call my senator and ask if there is somthing they can do or maybe cause a fuss about how all the embassy's or out of sync....so we shall see i will be writting the letter tonight and faxing it to them tomorow...well if it doesn't help me at least it might be able to help someone else who gets put in this situation....

Shaunna I would just call the tommorrow morning and ask. You will get a response better that way. If there is a senator close to you maybe you can set up an appotiment to meet with one of the reps. I processed mine through the speaker of the house and they call me and make sure my case is going okay.

I hope they can help.

Jax

yup i called them today....and my senator is one of the sr. senators so kinda powerful as far as getting things done and resolved...so i will write them a letter and then go from there...

I will just say at this stage to let Thursday play out and then get your senator involved if things still moving slow. These consulates sometimes do not respond too well to someone exerting influence especially if they are not really doing anything wrong. We do not want Mike being subjected to anyone just wanting to take out thier vengance because some senator raked them over the coals. Mike is going to be fine and Thursday is just a day away and he will get the visa in time. I feel your fustration, but just do not give those people anything to get pissed over unless absolutely necessary

i see what you are saying and i think i will wait till thusday and if the same ####### happens again the gloves are coming off

She picked her dress out and rumor has it that it is a killer. I was not allowed to see it though. But we are coming along fine. She has developed a great rapport with my family so the clothes situation has been solved. They offered her directly and she accepted and actually has begun wearing. My grandmother who is suffering with cancer was so sweet she gave her the jewelry for the wedding and gave her so much clothes and jewelry for other things we are having an issue with space. This has been easier than I thought especially with my sister who is very protective. They are already shopping buddies.

Will keep you guys posted about what happens after Friday.

Stephen I would love to see the pics from your wedding. We have a group on yahoo where we mainly post pics-you have to ask Ms Squitto for an invite-or if you don't mind please PM me if you share your pics online. I love to look at wedding dresses. I'm a clothes horse

Tanya

I love the new addition at Sangster

My medical went ok.

I arrived on time only to see 10 other persons with the same appointment time. They check your docs first then you go and pay the fee in either currency. You get your stats taken by a nurse (bring glasses if you wear them) then you go quickly to get your blood drawn and chest x-ray so that by the time you're done doing that, your name might be next in line to see the doctor.

She will advise you that you're being tested for HIV and that you'll be contacted in a few days if they need to speak to you but, all being well, your results will be sent directly to the embassy. She also determines at that point what shots you may need. Most of them are not age appropriate anyway, so if you have had the basics, you may not need many more. Your tetanus should be up to date or you'll have to get that one at least. Then she examines you, very briskly and efficiently, and ladies... she just takes a quick look...nothing internal.

Then you go to pay for shots (if you need them) and get them at the nurse's station. Be sure to collect a copy of your immunization worksheet as you will need it later on. And that's it!

Set aside 2 -3 hours for the whole process.

Byee!

Thanks for the update...good to know

Hello Everyone,

Happy weekend!

This is my first post, I hope I'm putting it in the right place. I've been reading through the Yardie threads for a while and am so grateful to all of you for sharing your experiences and information. Just knowing that there is a community of people just like us going through this same process, who we can reach out to has eased a ton of anxiety and answered so many of our questions. Ironically, however, I've been reading so much that I've now reached the point where the more I read, the more confusded I get. I could really use some help filling in the blanks about the process and answering some of the questions on the forms.

Here is where we are: We received our NOA 2 on November 1. I emailed the NVC and as of Friday (the 10th) they don't have our file yet. Could someone confirm for me what happens now? I believe I'm waiting on the letter from the NVC to know that they've done what they need to do and that the file is on its way to Kingston. Do I need to send my fiance the letter I get from the NVC in order for him to go to the Embassy? Or does he just need to call them with the number and then go? Is there anything else that needs to happen before he can go pick up the papers?

After he picks up the first packet, I think he has to turn the DS-230 Part 1 back in at the Embassy before they can begin the process to set the interview date? What else does he need to do or turn in at that point? Once he does all of that, what happens, and how long does it take?

What is it that he has to pay for at Paymaster? When does he pay it and how much is it? What does he do with the receipt?

FORMS:

What is the best way to organize all the paperwork for the interview? Right now I have a binder that has divider labels and folders for every separate thing. I figured that way it would be easy to find whatever they ask for quickly. Any suggestions?

My fiance's son is going to come up later, do we need to fill out a DS-230 Part 1 & 2, a DS-156 & DS-156k for him as well as include him in the I-134 from now?

Am I the petitioner in #29 on DS-230 Part 2?

Regarding applying for a SSN on DS-230 Part 2 #'s 33 a & b - do we answer yes?

DS-156 #32 'Do you intend to work in the U.S.' - he definitely plans to work, but is this question mainly used for other types of visas where people are coming here solely to work, or should he answer yes?

"Have you ever been denied/refused a U.S. visa?" - he applied for a visa to work on the ships like 11 years ago, his application was denied because the paperwork was not properly filled out and the lady at the embassy suggested he file an appeal and fill the paperwork out properly and he'd most likely be approved. Does this count as a 'denial' or 'refusal'?

So many questions! I'd appreciate any help anyone could give. And again, thanks just for being here and sharing.

Welcome keishino and best wishes on your visa journey.
It's usually kind of quiet here on the weekends but I'm sure you'll get your answers soon.

Good evening yardies!!

Been busy working and catching up on some good ol' TLC at home........tonight we cuddled for the first time in weeks.......we talked about how crazy life is in the USA and how much "sweeter" our relationship was in Jamaica. We decided that we would try to take some time to love each other again rather than focusing so much on money, work, bills and all the Bullshiiiiiiit that life has to offer in this hectic world.

Congrats on all the interviews and success stories......good luck Shauna and Mike......my heart and prayers are with you...you both have waited too damn long to be together...............Hope all is going well in the Kelly/Craig camp....you two are on my mind often and I hope everything is going great.....

Belly...the paperwork says they want all three tax years.....although some folks only had to actually submit one. The lady did ask us for all three.....I have made "well" over the support limit for the past several years but she still wanted to look to see the pattern of my income. (So she said..) She gave me back the oldest but initially she asked for all three of them so I would just be safe and get them.......Doesn't Mindy say something like....."better to bring everything and the "kitchen sink" just to be safe".....

Good night everyone...back to my cuddling... :luv:

My parents finally got all the paperwork together!!! which i am very gratefull for!! i should get it tomorow and send it to mike on Thursday so if everything goes right he should be going to Kingston on tuesday!! :D

Michele....how are you??? (L)

I'm ok Shauna. Thanks for asking. And congrats on getting your paperwork together. Mike will be here before you know it.

Interview update--Well, George went for his interview this morning. he must have had the Window 11 girl, he said she was young and nice. She said he didn't really question her about anything but why we took 3 years to decide to get married. He explained that I'd had cancer and that delayed my coming back down there, and he said she seemed to understand. Because they gave him the interview on only one week notice, he could not get his medical until 11/14; She said she would have the result in about a week after that, and that he should bring along any thing he has to show the ongoing relationship--cards, western union receipts, his phone records. We already had explained because he has a prepay cell phone, he can't get his actual phone records, we already tried. He told he had all the cards and things with him, but she said just hold on to it and show it all to her when he comes back after the medical. She said to go and get something form cable and wireless explaining that they don't give phone recoreds for prepay accounts. He seemed to feel it went OK, but now I'm really worried.

Ann

Ann-I hope you and George will be together soon and that you have returned to good health (L)

I'm loving it just wish my baby was here w/me but I know soon we will be together. It's been real hard keeping it from my mom....everytime I see her I just want to say it. But all in due time. We're keeping it a secret until next year when we will have the the "real wedding". My sister and one of his sisters is the only ones that know.

Wow Anna, I know you must be so excited!! That's some secret to keep until next year . My mom always seemed to know what was going on in my life; sometimes before I was even aware of it

I don't know you situation but don't be so hard on yourself. When it is right, it is right.
Only you will know that.

Thanks Darlene, I am always so hard on myself. I remember reading a review of a song(I don't know who that song was by) but the critic noted a lyric that has always stayed with me "...good things come to those who wait, but not to those that wait too late..." :(

You didn't file yet right? I think you need to ask yourself some important questions. Do you love him? Can you imagine your life without him? Do you want to be together? Do you want to get married? Are you ready to give up on the whole thing and never see each other again?

It seems like you need to come to some sort of decision. Unless you're emotionally and financially able to keep dating long distance, you need to make a move. What does he think of all this? How long have you guys been "together"?

Good luck with your decision.

No I have not filed yet. It's not a matter of if I love him or not; nor a "love conquers all" thing. Sadly, it's not quite as simple as that. I have a crippling fear that is immobolizing me and no matter what I try to do or how much everyone tries to encourage me I can't get past the stage I'm in now. I feel like a deer caught in headlights.

He's beginning to doubt that I love him; and I can't say that I blame him. However nothing can be farther from the truth.

We've been together since January 2004; nearly 3 years. I know I cannot continue to put both of our lives on hold.

We have overcome a lot of hurdles with the cultural and age difference; but there is one issue that I can't seem to get past. He doesn't even realize the scale of it's enormiity; but I do.

Michelle my girl...bug hugs!!!!!! (L) (L)
rhonda asked some good questions that you need to ask yourself!!!! don't say he would be better without you!!! you are prolly that best thing that has ever happend to that man!!! i am sure he know you are having some issues with the whole process to just leave at that!!! if he wanted out girl i think he would have jumped ship a while ago!!!
Like rhonda said ask yourself those questions and the right answer will come to you!!

Thanks Shauna; I should be encouraging you right now.
Yes, he has stayed by my side for a long time; he's been extremely patient... I don't know what else to say.

Have a good day everyone (F)

It's occured to me; and I'm sure some of you too, that I have been here over a year and I have not progressed at all since then. I can't seem to summon up the courage to move forward. What's so sad is that I have dragged an innocent man into this :( . He probably would have been better off without having met me.

So we are getting ready to leave on Sunday. Iffeisha and I are flying out together on Sunday. We should be picking up the visa tomorrow.

Just a FYI. For those of you who want to sleep in late for the interview, $200.00 JA will get you an early spot in the line. There are guys there selling space in line. Totally funny.

Imagine we worked so hard on the pics and letters and e mails and all night right before the interview and she begged us not to take anything out of the folder. Hey, we are not complaining.

Do not worry guys, I will still be here from time to time.

:star: :luv: thanks Stephen

Wedding is next Friday the 10th so we have a hectic schedule ahead
