Hey chica! We're looking at homes in Bristol...that neighbors your town right?

Yes, Bristol is very, very close. Did you find a job nearby?

Just sharing some good news: Henry received his Green Card yesterday!! He is quite relieved.

  Congratulations Henry!!

 Congrats Elizabeth and Henry.......no more immigration stuff for 2 years!!! Yeah!!!!

I spent the night Thursday and ALL Friday at the hospital...my sister had a ruptured appendix and they finally found out what was going on (a little late) and took her into surgery last night.....

I hope your sister has a speedy recovery Kim.

Bert is finally off the ship and home for vacation. 3 weeks 6 days until the interview. Go my plane ticket to go only for 2 nights but that is okay. Getting very anxious.

Soon come Darlene. Does Bert have everything that he needs for the interview; except his medical of course?

My grandma is not doing great...and is on her final days maybe hours...just keep her in your thoughts..

Shuanna, I'm so sorry and pray for that your grandmother and your family finds peace without pain.

Been working ALL day on making Duane's website....I finally finished about 10 minutes ago........

I swear I thought I was going to kill him or divorce him today <_< He was sitting behind me telling me what I needed to do and how to do it...I almost threw the computer at him!!! :P

Anyhow......check it out if you have a chance and tell us what you think...we are hoping to get some hits and sales soon!!!!! Also...Duane named the website and you are going die when you hear what he named it!!
He named is "Embassy Art"........   How cute........

The website is: www.embassyart.homestead.com

Have a good night

I know I've said it before but Duane is so very talented  . I know this is a stupid question but I'll ask anyway; if you send a photo can he recreate a painting on a shirt from it?

I am hoping our interview doesn't come until May or June since he will be touring Europe at the start of the year.

:help: Does anyone know if you can ask for the date of the interview once you have been approved? Dwain maybe touring and not able to make one they schedule. I know we are far away from an interview now to all you luck ducks with your interviews soon all the best

I think that the embassy schedules the date of the interview but I know that some have "delayed" the process by holding off on returning the forms/packets requested of them. I'm not sure if there is a time limit on how long you have to return the info to them. I do know that Kelly was able to ask for an extension on her K-1 visa. Not sure if you can do the same for K-3.

We got some food then headed to the bus station for our 4 hour roller coaster ride back to Mo'Bay

I was wondering if those who went to the interview flew into MoBay or Kingston. I've never been to Kingston but I know that the ride from MoBay to Kingston is supposed to be literally a "trip". What is everyone's thoughts on this? I do not relish the thought of a 4 hour road trip anywhere; least of all there. Can you make a mini vacation of Kingston and it's environs?

OH MY GOD! Denied for testing positive for ganja--oh Christ, he'll never get here

Seriously, yes. I can recall three people who got denied in JA alone. Some other VJ'ers from other embassies were denied for admitting to smoking in the past even though they did not test positive.

Well they sent Dwains dad home last night and I don't understand why they did because he wasn't doing any better. We think they sent him home to die. This morning my hubbys dad did pass away. :crying: (F)

I would like to go to the funeral but Dwain says save money. His mom would like me to come. I can only get 3 days off. I wonder if I should go or just send them the money for the plane ticket and take care of arrangments for his mom.

Jax my condolences go out to you and your family. As far as going to the funeral; if you can go; go. Your presence will mean a lot to your husband and his family; even if he doesn't see it now. The money always seems to come from somewhere. The emotional, physical and moral support will be more valuable at this time; both for you, Dwain and his family.

Things are going ok...in the last month or two we have moved and I started school and got a different job. Today is actually the 1 year anniversary of his arrival to the states. We went out to celebrate. Luvtravlin,

The most I can say at this juncture is that you have a bit more...maybe a lot more patience than I do in this situation. I guess I envy your ability to come to the conclusion that he is not a "bad person" just someone making bad choices. I am going to temper my opinion on this quite a bit cause I can sense that you still do have feelings for your man, though not the ones that would suggest that this situation will end well. But, I will say this much. You have a son that you love, that is young impressionable and who is the only child you must be raising at this time in your life. You did not go to Jamaica to adopt a child, cause you already have one. Helping your man grow up, really should not be your responsbility and you should not take on that responsibility. The worlds "selfish", "mean spirited" and "dishonest" comes to my mind when I read the messages you post about how he is treating you. In this life, you deserve nothing but the best for yourself and I could not imagine anyone treating me like this and getting the benefit of me thinking thet they are not a for want of a better word "bad person." i had a dear friend in your situation a year ago. She took the gloves off and dealt with this issue in a not too pleasant manner. the police became involved and at the end of the day, the man was escorted back to jamaica where he rightfully belong. Now was it the best thing to do? I can only say that today she is still single, but enjoying a peace of mind that he tried to steal from her and failed.

You will know when you have reached your breaking point. If you have, my best advice is to make a clean break from this situation and move on with your life. It may mean you have to take the gloves off, but do not let any man try to take advantage of you. As my grandmother would say "your mama ain't raise no fool." This situation is one that will not have a happy ending. He has made a choice by his actions, when the time is right, please make yours and let the child grow up on his own, or go back to jamaica so his mama can raise him right. When you said that he is not the man you fell in love with, my feeling was simply that he was good at hiding his true self.

I had so hoped that this would have gone down differently, but at this juncture, there is really not much you can do to salvage this when the trust is gone.

 Kelly please listen to Stephen; because what he has said(all of it) is so eloquent and rings so true. Stephen for those who are "visitors" or who have not yet filed or who are going through the same thing that Kelly has gone through- your words should give them pause to seriously consider if this is the right decision for all involved. And for those who have found themselves in the same positon as Kelly (and others here on VJ) your words should give them the encouragement to get on their lives and live.

Shemanya-let us know who your class went today. I have a dvd and one section has basic belly dancing moves and I will say that it does give you a little self-confidence and remove your inhibitions a bit.

Someone mentioned something about belly dancing if you actually had a belly; well that brings to mind a few years ago when I went to Hawaii-my former husband and I went to a luau and we went to a show where the best hula dancer on all of the islands at the time was a man who weighed over 500 lbs (yes, you read right). Boy could that man move . So go ahead and shake that thang.

Jamie-we knew what you meant girl. Kelly has asked for honest opinions and she knows the personalities of many of us that have been around for a while, so I knew she didn't think we would sugarcoat anything. I think your equation is funny for anyone who fits the formula. I knew that you were not taking Kelly's situation in a light- hearted manner. Most of the time short and sweet(or sour) makes the best statements and has the most impact; rather than long and winded (like me ).

 Well, today is finally the day. George's flight leaves MoBay at 8:50 this morning, connects in Newark, and arrives in Rochester at 5:00 this afternoon. I'm so nervous! I just keep obsessively cleaning the house. Whatever happens after today, I am so grateful for the information and support of all of you. I know I shouldn't complain about the process--I mailed the petition on September 1st, and he's arriving today--but this has been the most stressful 3 and half months of my life I think, worse than having breast cancer. Trying to build a life with someone while you shout over a lousy overseas connection into a cell phone, taking out the same photos to look at over and over, laying in bed at night and wondering, how long Lord, how long? hoping your kids will accept him, and that he'll feel the same about them. Well--the whole thing has been quite a ride! I'm gonna stay busy and wash a chicken to make brown stew. THank you, VJ friends.

 Ok, how many times have you been to Jamaica? (I know we had this as a poll a while back but we have lots of newbies now) What other Caribbean islands have you been to? Where do you want to go for your next vacation? Can you tell I'm already sick of the cold weather and thinking of the tropics? :P B)

I have been to Jamaica a total of 8 times now!! I have been to San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Martin, and Cayman Islands briefly while on cruises. And I have been to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic). For our next vacation we're thinking about going to Barbados.

I've been to Jamaica 4 times. Other islands: Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Barbados, Antigua, St. Martin, Martinque, St. Thomas

Hello-

At home today getting all the paperwork together for tomorrow........Duane is still completely devasted about his son. We had already bought ALL his Christmas presents that he requested. We bought him a ton of spiderman toys and clothes....... :(

Last night, he told me that he wants to keep all the presents no matter how long it takes until he sees him again...even if it is 10 years!!!! :crying: The evil women needs to be locked up!!!!!!!

So......Sounds like everyone is doing well.......glad to hear......

BTW...it took us about 1 week to get the Visa so I would not plan any returns flights for at least 1 week after the interview....

Jill---I would tell Lake that he needs to send some money for the kids and postpone his trip home until he can clear it with the job and afford it better!!! I understand that he misses the kids but losing his work and going into financial debt is far worse for the kids in the long run.........maybe you can explain that to him..........

Duane and I are in the same position and we sat down and talked about it.....he understands now!!

Shauna-Glad to here Mike is doing well.....call me today becasue Duane has some ideas that might help Mike.........

Stephen-Thanks for the NARMS link.......I have been hired by 2 marketing firms and I went on my first demo last week and make over $150.00 in 4 hours.......This is GREAT!!! You are the best...........

Take care everyone!!!!

Kim I am sorry to hear about Duane's daughter; I can only imagine how he must feel right now. I hope I'm not prying but where was his daughter while in JA? Was she living w/the mom? You might have mentioned this before but my memory is bad. Did the mom know you were filing for the daughter?

This reminds me of Javon and his baby mother. His son has spent his whole life w/Javon's family b/c she never had anything of her own and he was over in the Cayman Islands on a work permit. He used to travel yearly back to JA but when she moved to England she wanted to take both of their kids (son & daughter) with her out of spite. Mind you this is the same woman that states she don't want anything to do w/the son b/c he reminds her of Javon and his ppl. So he rushed home and demanded her to leave his son. Since then she left and never looked back. I feel so bad for him b/c he told me he doesn't have a mom b/c she dont' want him. It had me in tears so I told him not to worry himself b/c I am now his mom and Lexie (my daughter) is also his sister.

These baby mother's can be soooooo wicked at times. I can not count how many times I have treated that woman (or should I say girl). She is a disgrace to all woman. At first I would say nothing but Javon is waaaayyyyyyyyyyy to kind and I had to put a stop to that very quickly!!! She would take everything from him for the daughter but never contributed nothing to the son.

 That's just not right.

Kelly asked: "What is everyone's definition of a WIFE and HUSBAND ??"

(Sorry- I couldn't get this new format to quote right so here's my response:)

I think it's pretty subjective nowadays as many families do not adhere to traditonal roles anymore. I think everyone should ask their partners and theirselves this very important question and honestly answer them before deciding to get married. Everyone has needs beyond the physical and I feel that if your emotional needs are not met that your relationship probably won't be sucessful. What is important for one person(especially women) probably won't mean diddly to the next. As a woman I think the biggest mistake that we can make is to assume that men has nothing going on beyond "the pyhsical". Even the most macho of men have feelings, even if they don't articulate it or demonstrate it. If you constantly belittle or make someone feel inadaquate or "stupid" or make them feel as if their opinions don't matter watch and see how fast your relationship deteriorates. If you treat your man this way, and if he is the quite type, don't be surprised if one day he'll just be gone without a word.

I would ask my partner what having a wife or husband means to them and ask myself what a wife or husband means to me.
Everyone has basic needs and if those needs cannot be met by your partner then you're probably not a good match. Honestly assesing those needs is where maturity comes in.

Have a good day!

Michele

Do you know how to be a wife??? We think we want a husband. I didn't know the real meaning of being a wife, until God sent me my husband. So think long and hard for what you ask for you might just get it and not know what to do with it ;)

That's a good point Denise. In the most successful marriages that I have personally seen; if you have a truly good man and a great husband-then those qualites almost always bring out the best in the woman. So if the man takes the lead in being a good husband and father then it almost always follows that the woman will be a good wife. So another point of view is "does your man know how to be a husband?"

Glad to hear you're feeling better too :) . I'm sure you'll get some good news soon.

hello ladies....couple quick questions....
when we were at the embassy they said something to mike about cheking in at the post office??? does this make sense to anyone??

If he meets this criteria he has to register with Selective Service:

What is Selective Service Registration?
Selective Service registration allows the United States Government to maintain a list of names of men who may be called into military service in case of a national emergency requiring rapid expansion of the U.S. Armed Forces. By registering all young men, the Selective Service can ensure that any future draft will be fair and equitable.

Federal law requires that men who are at least 18 years old, but not yet 26 years old, must be registered with Selective Service. This includes all male non-citizens within these age limits who permanently reside in the United States. Men with "green cards" (lawful permanent residents) must register. Men living in the United States without INS documentation (undocumented aliens) must also register. But men cannot register after reaching age 26.

Why Do I Need to Register with the Selective Service?
Failure to register for the Selective Service may (in certain instances) make you ineligible for certain immigration benefits, such as citizenship.

For instructions on registering with Selective Service as an immigrant, please see the Selective Service System's "Registration Information."

If you would like to confirm that you or someone else are registered with Selective Service, please see the Selective Service System's "Check a Registration" Webpage.

If you would like answers to frequently asked questions about Selective Service, please see the Selective Service System's "Frequently Asked Questions" Webpage.

I just wanted to let u guys know that I leave for Jamaica tomorrow morning!! The interview is scheduled for Thursday @ 7:15 am
Tamisha

Tamisha-Safe travels and best wishes on your interview on Thursday!

Hello Family!!!

It feels liek I have been gone for so long and I have waaaayyy to much reading to catch up on!! I hope everyone is doing well. We have been good for the most part. The medical issue (eating chicken bones) has cleared up and we are permanently off of chicken bones!!!!

We just found out yesterday that Duane's son was taken to England by the son's mother!!! (wicked women) I guess she left on Thursday but she left no forwarding address or phone number. :( Duane almost fainted when he heard. His eyes filled with water and I could not get him to talk or eat all day. He just sat in the house quiet all day..... His mom is going to file a police report in Ochi and I called the Jamaican embassy in Washington DC today and will call the American Embassy in England later. I just do not know what else we can do. Duane had custody of his son and raised him a lone until 1 year ago. We filed the paperwork already for his son and we were just waiting to get the birth certificate sorted out. He is just so hurt and devasted and I do not know what else to do.......Any idea????

ALSO......We have our AOS interview this Thursday

Kim

Kim, I'm glad Duane's health has improved  I am so sorry to hear that Duane's son's mother took him to England without not prior notice; it's just not right. I know Duane must be devastated as he was so close to his children and missed them terribly. I hope you can get this unfortunate situation resolved soon.
Best wishes on your interview on Thursday too.

Ann- I hope George's visa is in hand by Wednesday.
It may be a good idea for those whose interviews are yet to be sheduled to wait to book their SO's flight after the visa in in hand or wait a couple of weeks or so after the interview. It seems like it's taking much longer now for the visas to be delivered than in the past.

Best wishes to all with upcoming interviews or watiing for interview dates.

Wow Anna what a day for you  . I hope you have a better weekend.
And hopefully everyone can recover from the storms. Jamie I hope you get dug out soon.
I have to go shopping tomorrow for winter preparedness. Stock up the cabinets in the house and get snacks and water for the car in case I get stranded. I also pack an overnight bag for those really bad storms since there are hotels down the street from work. At work they rarely let us go home early, and one day last year they offered some of us free hotel rooms for the night. I guess they are so scared to loose one lousy penny. Funny thing is like Anna- my job has zero customer contact but because we work in the same building as customer service and collections they won't let us (loan administration) go home because the other departments have to stay. I wish I worked in the school district; I would love to have all those snow days too.

Hey Shemanya my birthday is this month too  .

Michele hopefully the storm will pass through quickly without any twisters.

There's already damage reports with trees uprooted and power outages about 20 miles west and north of me, but the storm is weakening and moving fast; thankfully. I lost my power for a few minutes but it's back on (obviously  ). It has been so warm and now this winter storm is coming in for Monday resulting in this crazy weather we are having tonight.

Well enough of the weather forecasts :hehe:

Everyone have a good evening and great weekend.

Well we are under the gun ahead of the storm that you all have been experiencing with tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings and high wind warnings with heavy downpours :help:

George had prepaid Cable & Wireless, and they don't generally provide itemized lists of calls, but the embassy gave him the "blue sheet" and told him to give it to Cable and Wireless, and sure enough, with some nagging and horsing around, Cable and Wireless gave us the last 6 months of his phone calls to here.

Ann

That's good to know. Thanks for the info.

They're talking about the dreaded "s" word here for Monday. I don't mind it snowing if I'm at home, sitting in front of the fireplace sipping cocoa. But if I have to drive in it or shovel it- :crying: . They rarely let us leave work early. I used to have a 32 mile commute but since I moved I'm only 18 miles from work. That's better- but 18 miles driving on ice is no joke.

Welcome home Mike! Finally...
6'8'' wow, that is tall.... so you can say he really did sweep you off your feet.
I am so happy that this is finally behind you....

I filed for my husband February of this year, USCIS took almost 7 months to approve our case. Our case was then forwarded to NVC where all the requested documents were sent. They received all our documentation and entered them into their system on November 1st. I was told that it takes 2-4 weeks for the case to be completed, yet ours is still being reviewed, while I've seen others in the same visa category send in documents 2-3 days after ours and have gotten their case completed no later than 2 weeks and sent to the respective embassy. Now this makes me wonder how NVC works, just a little confused I guess. I call daily to find out if there are any changes but not yet. I am trying not to get fed up but this not easy to do atall. :help:

I would say that if you're not mentally strong to deal with this process then don't do it. By far this is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and all because I want to live a normal life with my husband who I've know since I was a child. **sigh**

I know; there seems to be no rhyme or reason on how they process accounts. I hope you get an approval soon. I don't know why the K-3's and CR1's take longer than the K-1's. If you ask me they all take to long

Rhonda I went to Barbados on a cruise and I loved it. In my opinion it was the most beautiful of all the Caribbean islands that I've been to. I'm hoping that would be my next trip.

Good morning (F)

Michele
