Oh, I just wanted to add that we meet while I was vacationing at the hotel he was working at too. My girlfriend and I were taking pics with all the staff(guys) B) . Of course a few of the guys; ok several; asked for my number and address; which I wasn't really giving out but for those who insisted I would take their addresses so that I could send them a copy of the pics that we had taken. So...Tristan, who really was one of the quietest guys (never overtly hit on me) asked me for my number; because he said that I would forget him once I got back home. I gave it to him and when I got in the door from my trip there was a message on my machine; he was checking to see if I made it home ok. Mind you this was in the dead of winter of January 2004 when we were experiencing one of the coldest winters( minus 20 degress F, and this was the actual temp not the wind chill) . Even though it was cold as all that his words made me feel all warm and fuzzy :luv: And as they say the rest is history.

Darah, by now you have probably made your decision and told your family. I have to say that I have some of the same issues as you; as do probably most of us. Particularly cultural, educational and earning ability. But as the others have said it's best to let your family know and let them deal with it on their own terms. I know from past posts that you are sensitive to your family feelings but you really shouldn't have to hide your marriage. It's a fact of your life. It's also possible that they already know. I think that the guilt of trying to hide the details of your relationship is probably worse than what their reactions would be. You're in my thoughts.

Sorry to hear about your mom; I hope that she can overcome her illness.

Happy anniversary!

Hey Michele, What u can't cook oh boy  ! I am so glad I can cook or Dwain would be introuble since all he cooks is Mac and Cheese. One of bridesmaids was in shock I could cook and my matron of honor who has been my best friend for 24 years was like yeah she can she has been cook since she been 12 were u been. Do u need some lesson!

Yes, I need some lessons  or a good cookbook. When I meet someone one of the first things I tell them is that I don't cook. That way there's no disappointment. You know for some men they HAVE to have a woman that will cook. I do have other talents though  :innocent:

Can anyone recommend a good West Indian or Jamaican cookbook? Not that nouveau stuff though. I like authentic cooking. Also can anyone recommend a good jerk seasoning that's hot; not sweet?

Well I am finally moved out of my old place and have turned in the keys
Now that I'm 'moved out' of the old place I have to 'move in' to the new place.

Ann, you'll find the perfect job soon.

Hey guys...I posted this before but Duane has an art website. We also have sold some paintings on e-bay but we are trying not to sell many on e-bay because a few art galleries here in Cali are interested in picking him up and we are trying to keep his work from being mass-produced until we have his work orfficially copywrited.

His website is:

:o  awesome!! I bookmarked the site for consideration at a time when I'm not so "bruk"

We're fresh off of our wedding and honeymoon, Squito got a job offer yesterday (pending his work permit, which he won't even need now) and now this!!! I'm truely beaming right now :luv:

I uploaded two pictures from our wedding on the yahoo site.

PM me if you want to see more :D

Beautiful pics  Congrats on the job offer to Squito!

Lance from n'sync is gay

I knew it...

Michele - how are things going?

I am totally exhausted from the move; but am just about done. I'm so tired I'm delirious  .

The bach party was good. I made them food and they loved the festivals the most and was glad I made the jerk chicken mild. We got our nails done and then went to the store to get our make up down. We bought our make up for the wedding. Then we all watched girlie movies together. The gave me the :innocent: nice gift laungrie and the n  aught gift a whip and hand cuffs. That naught gift will surely be rewrapped for a white elephant gift. That was about it we didn't drink cause I had to go to work the next day. My girlfriend from Evanston spent the night and we went to watch Clerks II the next day. She was screaming loud when she found out the price of a movie ticket out here. She was like no way $5.50 I am riding the train more often to come to see u... Get out of here... So we had a good time shopping after the movie. I also say the Devil Wears Parade this week with another bridesmaid. I loved that movie. Since I didn't get to drink at my bacholrette party and yesterday was my last day of work I went out celebrating with another girlfriend and drank way to much. My stomach is still aching thank good I didn't toss my cookies like my friend poor thing she had to go to work the next day. Her husband had to walk to the bar and drive us home. So that was a blast.

The only things I need to work on now is finding any mistakes in my wedding program, a word search, a recorder music packet (since all the guest are getting recorders) and seating chart plans. Counting down the days before I leave 6 to go. I told my students my last name was going to change and when they started calling me that my hair started to stand up on my arms. I have been called by my maiden name for 5 years so it felt wierd at the most.

Sounds like you had a great time. I wish I could cook Jamaican fare. No wait... I wish I could cook

So, are you all ready to go? How about the wedding party, family and friends?

Well I had a telephone interview for a job this morning. I think it went well.

Best wishes to you Ann.

Things are GREAT on this end. Thanks for asking.

Good to hear from you Lee. Glad to hear things are going well from you. Keep in touch.

Hello everyone,

Well, I have more bad news again :( Tony's uncle was killed last night in JA! :o The only details I know is that someone broke into his house and shot him twice while he was sleeping!! It is just devastating. He was only 41 or 42 years old. This is the 3rd uncle of his who has died in the past year - 2 on mom's side, 1 on dad's side. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Rhonda - how are things with your stepson?

Good morning everyone (F)

He is doing better. He spent 2 nights in the hospital, but he is back at home now. Thank you for asking and thanks to all of you for your support :luv:

Rhonda, I'm so sorry to hear that about Tony's uncle. After our recent experience we can see that things are just getting so bad there. I'm praying that the time will come soon when this senseless violence will end. My sympathy goes out to Tony's family and both of you.

I dread hearing news like that...any of us could be on the receiving end of that phone call.

So sad but so true.

I have Mango drinks and Passion fruit drinks. And a little alchol since I have to go to work on Monday.. They want it to be at 11am and I said thats way to early so we backed it up to 1pm fewwww..... Just praying they dont do anything funky to me.. It should be a good time and all my bridesmaids don't know each other at all.

sorry ladies but i have to let off a little steam.....no offence to the newbies who just got approved or their Noa 1
i am getting so MAD...don't get me wrong i am happy for the new people on VJ who are getting approved...but it just doesn't seem fair that a lot of them sent int there petitions in like may or even june and they are getting approved and getting NOA2's while I am approved and waiting for lord knows how long until they even get to my RFE...it just doesn't seem fair...mike would be here in the states.. :( :(

I don't blame you at all Shauna for feeling that way. USCIS should be doing more for those with RFE's due to IMBRA. I feel especially bad for you and those who already had an interview date scheduled. Have you heard when they are rescheduling interviews yet? Hang in there girl.
Same goes for everyone else whose process has been held up due to IMBRA; including those who are already married. Ladies hang in there (F) .

So.....now we are off to the next stage......... I just have a few questions:
Whne can Duane go get his Social Security card??? When can he go to DMV for his identification card? Also...............how long before the EAD comes in the mail after we get married??? We are getting married at the courthouse on August 17th but our big wedding is next August........

Kim from what I've been reading you usually have to wait about 2 weeks before applying for the SS card so that his name can get in the system. Robert(rncarterjm) recently posted that he was told it would take about 4 weeks before he would receive it. You apply for your EAD along with your AOS;and if desired your AP. If you look at other's timelines it seems to take about 3+months for the EAD. I do believe though if you have not recevied it within 90 days after application that you can apply for an interim EAD. Double check on that though as I have no first hand knowledge.

Rhonda-glad to hear that Tony's son is feeling better

Welcome Ebony! Your mom really does have a hectic schedule. I can barely stand working 40 hours a week :P
I feel for Rhonda though-she wants to spend more time with hubby. I met a nurse once who worked 2 eight hour shifts; one at the hospital and one in a nursing home. She told me that she was doing that for over 16 years. She said that at first she did it because she had to ,but after getting married she continued to do it because she was so used to working all of those hours.

Well, I just got some bad news. Tony's baby mama just called and told him that his 3 year old son is very sick :( She took him to the hospital and they admitted him overnight. He has some kind of fever - never heard of it before. Tony is so worried and I'm worried too and I feel so bad that he can't be down there with him. We are going to send her some money tomorrow morning to help cover the doctor bills. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Rhonda, I'm so sorry. After our recent scare I know exactly how you and Tony feel about not being able to see your loved one in person while they are sick. I hope Tony's son gets better soon. Your family will definintely be in my thoughts and prayers.

Things are going great still....no problems at all over here in Cali......Knowing Duane..... I did not expect any
major issues though......he is pretty easy going....he eats anything I give him and loves most of the food.....he is eager to work and wants to get started painting immediately....we are getting along better than ever so I hope things remain this smooth after I start back to work.....

I will give you more details on the interview later....I know Shar and Jax have questions so I will give you the blow by blow run down tomorrow.....we are headed to the San Francisco Giants baseball game tomorrow.......it should be HOT and fun!!!!

Kim it's nice to hear that Duane is adapting well. What's his favorite American food? Does he like baseball? It should be fun. Have a good time.

Hey guys,

Well I am really stressing right now...Adrian is giving me a hard time and I wanted you guys prospective on the whole thing....1st I really do feel bad for everything I have done to him and he thinks that I did it on purpose...but he has been talking to a lawyer at a church that he has been going to and the lawyer was telling him he would handle his case for free if he wanted to take me to court...the lawyer said he heard of a case where the woman was arrested because she brought the man to the US and then didnt marry him??? then another case he told me that a woman was issued by the court to pay the male immigrant $50,000??? have any of you heard anything like that???
I called the USCIS yesterday and they said that as far as they are concerned that if he stays here after the 90 days then I am not responsible for him and he becomes illegal, they also told me to write to the Jamaica embassy and tell them the situation....I sent them and e-mail last night and wrote a letter that I will fedex to the embassy tomorrow......I am really stressing...I know what I did to him was very wrong being that he quit his job to come and be here with me, but as I see it we all take chances in life....he is also asking me to just go ahead and marry him so he can stay here and wont have to go back to JA and that we wont have to live together....I told him absolutly not that that would be fruad and he comes back with how does he know that this whole thing was not a fraud...I cannot believe that he could even prove that it was fraud...I had the wedding all planned, dress bought, rings I bought, invitations sent out and lost $3,000 on the ceremony and reception site.....

Sorry I am just venting here and would like to hear all options good or bad.

Thank you gals are a great bunch and I miss you.
Joanna

Joanna, I really can't give you any legal advice. However I'm sure that you're not the only one who had a change of plans after their SO came on a K-1 visa. Maybe they're just using scare tactics, as I'm sure that you had no legal contract to marry Adrian. What grounds was this woman arrested on? And how can he say that you were committing fraud? However you should under no circumstances marry him just so that he can stay in the US. I would be more concerned with what USCIS has to say than what Adrian and his "attorney" has to say. This is just my opinion as I have no legal training.

I wish the best for the both of you.

a little less than 2 days before I leave for my trip. I am just hoping all my family and guest get a long for a week. 3 more days of work and no more work until the end of August    Take care all!!

Thank God Cable and Wireless has that service that gave my fiance a US telephone number so we can sit on the phone for 2 / 3 hours a day without breaking my pocket.

:o Can you let me know how you were able to do this. My phone bills are outrageous :help:

My fiance Ordered DSL through Cable and wireless. Once DSL is installed she then ordered a NET Speak package . The Net Speak package is about $25.00 US per month and the DSL is about 30 US per month. On avaerage her bill with DSL, and Net Speak and her local calls come to between 80 and $100.00 US. When you get the net speak, you select a US area code. You will then have two phones in the home. One connected to the regular Analog land line and the other connected to the DSL modem. Just get 2 different color phones with different rings so you do not get confused. So when I call her on the Net speak phone, I dial a US telephone number with a 410 area code and therefore it is aand dial my phone number here which is a local call.So you can talk for as long as you would like for only $25.00 per month. You can see the calls accumulate on the online statement, but when you get your bill, you will only see the 1 charge of about $25.00. Last month my fiance made $85,000.00 JA in calls to me which would have been about $1,400.00 US. Her phone bill was only $85.00 US which included her local calls to Jamaica plus the DSL charge. Trust me, I pay that bill every month without fail. The rule is , she never use the line connected to DSL to make a call to Jamaica because then she would be making a long distance call. She can call anyone, anywhere in the US and it will never cost a dime.

I will swear by it. We have has the service since January 2006 and the average accumulated calls per month is about $60,000.00 JA. To make $1,000.00 US in calls each month and pay only $25.00 US for them, or should say $50.00 with the DSL is the best thing we ever did. In addition to which, when time comes for that interview and you show that consular office the list of calls made totalling $60,000.00 per month, they would have no doubt that this is real.

 Thank you!!!
