They definitely don't wait until the second week to "release" it. Mine was scheduled during the fourth week and I found out that day, during the fourth week. And, the same applies to their system only being updated during the second week. It can't be true as I found out during the fourth week.

What they say is a LIE. Just accept it. They schedule interviews all month long.

Oh,Saylin,I am just trying to make up something making sense!I do know they schedule it whole month long!My brain has accepted it,my patience still struggling!!! :bonk: I have been waiting almost a month!

Apparently this is the case since I am still waiting -___- oh joy.

Remember, how they have the package, but won`t tell you if it`s even being received untill it is really being reviewed? So,I am thinking, they schedule it all the month long, but only make it available to "the public"(us in this case)like second week
or their system gets updated only second week
or not all the operators have an access to it(no,that`s not it)
Anyways,it screwing my head up...I `ve seen lots of cases being scheduled first, third and even last week of the month...can`t wait till the 16th...

Any link from a government website? Couldn't find any at the USCIS website, under NEWS or the DOS website under VISA NEWS. Only Immigration.com and visajourney.com have "new immigration fees" news. That's why I thought it was an April fools prank.

Try this:

Between loads of laundry, and dishwasher loads of dishes, and cleaning up the house one room at a time.. I keep checking for my invoice. I'm getting so OCD over this NVC thing...

On another note, I don't see how my dog still has fur on his body with all the fur I vacuumed up today. I could knit him a sweater.

So I'm thinking I'm gonna start calling nvc today to see if they scheduled an intreview yet, probably not scince I got the CC just a few days ago... If they give me "the second week of april" answer is it still worth calling everyday?

Not sure if it`s worth it in my case, but I still call to bug them every other day(if I am patient enough ;) or everyday!I am not buying that "second week"!

Though ,I am getting a feeling I am gonna end up beleiving it... :P :P :P

Pedicures were sure done nicely! Got a nice orange set of toes with a sparkly yellow flower. Very summery! Shopping and patios were just as successful. NVC invoice, not so much...soon, hopefully! How are you doing?

Not bad, thanks! Also scheduled for manicure(at least that I do not have to wait till second week of the month LOL)
I am thinking tomorrow for your invoice,or actually later tonight!
Anxious to pay the bill? he-he

How was everyone`s week-end?

Was all the shopping, pedicures, patio drinks done succesfully? :P Back to game called NVC?

No updates for me,no interview.Had Rose checking up in the system if by any miracle there is an interview date yet.Nope.And she was very nice explaining to me that the interview dates are assigned during the second week of the month. And that I should call back on the third week to find out.Yeah, right!

Anyone ?any news?

Asia: SouthMarriage Certificate for Bangladesh

Hello VJers,

I have immigrant petitions at NVC pending for my in-laws. I received an RFE that I need to submit a "marriage certificate" for both my in-laws and for myself. I was adamant that I had sent these docs to NVC and assumed it was a false RFE. The case was even escalated for review. I called again and it was brought to my attention that there are 2 separate docs. One is the NikahNama (detailed marriage contract in legal size paper outlining names, addresses, witnesses, dower info, special conditions along with the appropriage signatures, government seal, notary etc etc) and the other is the marriage certificate. I believe what I have is the NikahNama. Whats funny is that this is what I used all these years when I petitioned my wife to come to the U.S. along with numerous times used for her applying for her green card (she came via K3), social security, citizenship, drivers license etc. etc. I always assumed that what we had (the NikaNama) WAS in fact the so-called marriage certificate.

I'm guessing the marriage certificate must be some kind of new requirement because I never got one when my wife and I were married in Bangladesh 7 years ago. I guess its very similar to a birth certificate without all the detail of the NikahNama. All I had was the NikaNama along with the english translation all these years and that served the purpose for all immigration, legal and government matters.

What I'm baffled also is why didn't USCIS request this information before sending the case files over to NVC? Wouldn't a lot of time and anguish be saved had USCIS told us about this in the first place? And why is a so called marriage certificate required now when the NikahNama (marriage contract) was perfectly fine in the past? I don't get it.

My question is, how do I obtain the marriage certificate from the Marriage Registrar since my wife and I are both in the U.S. Can my in-laws obtain it for us from the Marriage Registrar? Has anyone else had similar experiences? Suggestions on how to obtain it? We are stuck now and are very concerned. Please advise. Thank you.

I don't know if you get his after so many months. My sister has filed 3 petitions for her siblings. Now NVC wants her to send 'exact duplicate' copies of the original nikahnama. The thing is,she got married 26 years ago in Pakistan. The original nikahnama itself is in bad shape.I can't really decipher where the nikah was registered and who was the registrar.
We can send the original nikahnama to NVC,no problem, but why send 3 copies. Why can't NVC save the original for all the petitions, present and future ones?

How did you go around this?Did you send notarized photocopies?
Please share.Thanks.

A pretty good estimate by the attorney I would think. Iran is a T country and security checks will take longer. Don't know where you got the three months from but you wouldn't even get a K1 visa that quick anywhere.

I've never heard of the term, "T country." Can you inform what this means? Thx.

One of the terrorist countries.

Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan I'm sure there are more on the list. If the visa applicant comes from a country on the T list the security checks take much longer.

FYI Pakistan is not in the list, has never been.Instead its in the forefront fighting terrorism for many years. So you can ammend your self-created list and may include a few others if you want.
Being a long time member of many such immigration forums,I can say with conviction and experience that an admin delay or a security check has nothing to do with the applicant from a so-called "T-country".A member from Norway got his visa issuance delayed by 7 months, just because of a security check.Another from Argentina was put on AP delayed by about 5 months. Were these "T-countries"?

Thanks Feisal,
If that is true then there is one less thing to do.
Getting them attested from Foriegn Office is not that hard in itself but it consumes 2 to 3 full days apart from transportation problems.

Guys I have a question:
My sister and her family are about to start collecting civil documents for NVC.The documents include translated birth certificates and marriage certificates.
DO these documents have to be attested by Pakistan foriegn office?
The USCIS website simply says they need to be notarized, doesn't say officially notarized.
Anyone please clarify.
Thanks,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCalling Islamabad Embassy v 3
Calling US from Pakistan is much much cheaper than the other way round. If the party in Pakistan has DSL then you have better options to call Pakistan.
I am on a visit to Pakistan to spend time with my wife here and I have brought with me the majic jack.So far it is working just fine to call Pakistan and others can call us here for free. The downside is that that you have to keep your PC running to make or receive a call.
For those families separated by immigration laws,I guess you invest a little on a reliable and cost-effective way to make calls. It sure is definitely worth investing.

US Citizenship General DiscussionDates of trips abroad required
In a few months time I will be getting ready to apply for naturalization.Although I have kept every precise detail of my trips abroad(none lasted more than 6 months)I still want to make sure USCIS doesn't bungle up my dates or I will lose my $600 naturalization fee.
A friend I know had to pay $600 twice since USCIS messed up the dates in their system.
I looked at my passport and I noticed on one of my returns, the CBP officer missed stamping the passport.
Is there any way one can retrieve a record of departures arrivals from the CBP.

What if I have a spouse and an infant who live outside the US,waiting to join me here?
The N-400 requirement says:
If you have a dependent spouse or child(ren) who do not live with you, send:

* Any court or government order to provide financial support;

Does this clause pertain only to those who live in US?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview questions you got wrong

We often see posters on here saying their visa got denied because they got one question wrong or didn't know one answer at the interview. While it is of course important to be prepared and know about your spouse or fiance's life, I do not think getting a couple of questions wrong will cause a denial, if you have a strong relationship and can prove this. So, to ease the fears of those who are preparing for interview, and show those who believe they got denied because of one question that there is probably more to it, I thought I'd start this thread, and encourage those who got their visa despite wrong answers to post their experiences.

I'll start:
the CO asked me when we got married. I said 1995. He said: 'Are you suuure?'. and I realised my mistake, we got married in 2005! I corrected myself, but was nervous for the rest of the interview. Thankfully, the interview only lasted a few more minutes and I got my visa.

I remember my interview in jan.26..the CO asked me when we ist met.i said april 2008..gosh!i forgot its april 2007..but then she told me u passed..congratulations..lol.so nervous
