if you remember I posted here before about Ethan's 9 month hemoglobin test to check his iron. His was 11.3. And yes I agree with you iron-fortified food/milk is very important until the age of 2. I also give him a daily vitamin(Enfamil Polyvisol) with iron. And like I said before it's an essential need for brain development and to avoid iron deficiency and may lead to anemia.

here's a video of Ethan's 3rd session of his swimming lesson. This time they were taught to kick and paddle with their hands and to hold and move over on the edge of the pool.

May floatie ang Toys r US which is ang recommended age ay from 6-18 months. Here's the link...

wow galing naman...tanong lang lagi ba kayo sa pool or nakakapunta lang kayo sa pool kung swimming lesson time lang? may public pool ba dyan sa inyo? and how long does ethan stay in the pool and in the sun?

kanina rin nagpunta ulit kami sa pool sinubukan namin yung floatie na binili namin for him and he was so happy about it kaso yun nga lang di ako nakaswimming kasi may bisita ako. and yung floatie kasi na nabili namin is for 1 yr and up so medyo malaki...

happy mothers day to all.

God bless us all.

may public pool din kami dito in fact nag swimming kami duon last sunday. May open swimming sila every saturday and sunday meaning if you're a resident, you will only pay $2 for 3 hours but since baby pa si Ethan, 1 hour lang ang pinakamatagal na pinapa-stay namin sya sa pool with lots of sunblock pero depende rin sa weather kung talagang mainit 20-30 minutes lang.

@Jenelyn - Welcome to Mommies forum and Congrats!

BTW, update ko lang development ni Ethan...he can now stand up for a couple of seconds without holding on :D
Today was his 2nd session of swimming lesson and like I said last week, today was my turn to swim with him...:)

Si Zac since maliit pa eh hanggang timba muna cya

by 6 months pwede mo na i-enroll c Zac sa swimming. sa YMCA kami nag enroll...$10 per session and it's going to be 6 saturdays so $60.

@Gracey - yup he really was enjoying it. Nung una silang lumusong sa tubig nang daddy nya I thought iiyak kasi malamig but he was just fascinated with water.

@RyaNRiza - hahaha Michael Phelps talaga huh?! Gusto lang talaga namin nang daddy nya na i-expose sya into different kind of sports and this is a good start. When he was 7 months I started to give him a bath on our big tub with lots of bath toys. We were just pretending that he's swimming.

@RR - yes I put sunblock for baby on his face and body. maraming ibang nationalities dito sa florida may mga mexican, cubans and asians. There were only 7 babies sa swimming lessons ni Ethan which is also nice kasi small group lang and yes most of them are american parang dalawa lang yata kaming Asian kung mapapansin mo sa video, she's the lady across my hubby and baby wearing an eyeglasses.

pink - 3 1/2 months si Ethan nung mag start to roll over from his tummy to his back but he was 5 months when he rolled over all the way. Nagka cradle cap din sya before nung ginamitan ko sya nang Sesame Street shampoo then I switch to Huggies Natural Care kaya ayon nawala naman.

Evelyn - may YMCA na malapit dito sa bahay namin kaya duon kami nag enroll. $60 for 6 weeks.

We tried a couple of times but he spitted it out. I just take it as an advantage na hindi ako mahirapang i-stop sya from using it later on.

Regarding cradle cap, anong baby shampoo/soap gamit mo for Zac?

Mainit rin dito sa Florida but I give him a bath every other 2 days except nalang if he really gets dirty lalo ngayong he's crawling all over the house.

sweetpink, just curious...dito ba sa usa did somebody discriminate you? kasi dito most but not all...they dont care right...sa pinas kasi ang daming mga pintasero at pintasera di ba...

I work right now, parang walang pakialam. Natatawa lang ako kasi paglumalabas kami nang asawa ko at kapag nakapantalon ako sometimes there were people asking me if I'm ok or if I'm hurt iba naman kasi kung naka skirt or shorts kasi nakikita nila na talagang may deperensya yung isang paa ko.

Shiela - before every meal try mo uminom nang tubig bago kumain para d masyado marami yung kinakain mo. Never skip meal kasi pag masyado kang gutom malaki rin yung lamon mo. In between meals kain ka nang crackers and juice or fruits para d ka rin masyadong gutom during meal time. Kahit 'yung mga cravings mo pwede mo rin kainin but minimize the amt. BTW, you look good in your pictures kaya huwag masyadong conscious :)

I hope you don't mind me asking it.

of course I don't mind you or other people asking me at all :) Actually medyo mahirap yung childhood years ko kasi I know that I was different from other kids at school. 'Yung isang paa ko ay mas maliit kaysa isa. There were times before that questioned God of why me? And on top of it, I came from a broken family pero napaka swerte ko pa rin that I have a loving Mom and brother who was always there for me. Although I have plenty of good friends who accepted me and never discriminate, there were people before na tinutukso ako na pilay. I never fight back but I have a brother and friends who fought for me. But it was in High School when I saw some people who suffered same fate as me pero mas malubha kasi yung iba naka wheelchair, iba naman naka crutches and others scoot over just to move from one place to another. That's when I started to realize na kahit papano swerte pa rin ako. My condition molded me for who, what and where I am right now. It made me stronger. I was so determined to finish school and always strive for the best I can. Kasi sabi nila when you're in the lowest of low, either you make it or break it. I don't want to have self-pity nor people give me special treatment.

Now, I am just sooo contented of having my own family. A healthy son, a loving husband who accept me unconditionally, and a job that I love. God is so good for those who wait and believes in Him :)

Zen Den - my baby is updated with all his vaccines since birth. what I mean is, there was no shots/vaccine given during 9 month doctor's visit. At first me & my husband were having 2nd thought of whether to give Ethan vaccines or not and the reasons is more like that we heard and read about vaccines being associated with autism. But we couldn't afford to take the risk of some possible serious illnesses later on in his life just because of unproven theory. I myself is a polio victim when I was a baby and I don't want my son to suffer the same fate as I did.

pink - the hemoglobin test according to my son's pedia is just part of a 9 month routine check up to make sure na ok yung supply nang iron nya sa katawan. Malaki yung role nang iron for brain development. Tsaka if yung baby has iron deficiency, it can lead to anemia.

Speaking of vacuum, weird yata 'tong baby ko kasi every time na nag va-vacuum kami gusto laruin yung vacuum ang he imitates the sound...

Today was my son's 9 month doctor's appointment. No shots until his first birthday (July 13, 2010). Everything was just a basic routine check up. They also do a hemoglobin test just to check if he has a good supply of iron in his blood and the result was very good. I was so proud with my son since he never cried when the nurse pricked his finger tip for blood sample. He now weighs 20 lbs. and 27 1/2 tall.

here is Ethan's latest video while playing with us...

Pink - 8 1/2 months na si Ethan. He now weighs 20 lbs. yup, hindi sya mataba di rin payat pero mabigat na rin. I don't know how you call it
in Tagalog pero sa Cebuano dialect we call it "ugdang".

Brettane - i-enjoy mo si baby ngayong new born palang sya, they all grow sooo fast before you know it they don't want to be held anymore. like
my son, he wants to spend most of his time now on the floor crawling. Just keep talking to him. the baby's coos and smile are so
priceless.

Maamoy ba? :)

Meron ba ditong nakatry na ng Your baby can read? I am planning on buying for Zac since he loves watching TV and loves to daldal so we are thinking that he might learn faster using that educational software tool.

Pink I think kung brand new yung mat maamoy rubber talaga. itong ginagamit nang baby ko ngayon eh sa nephew to nang hubby ko nung baby palang sya. you can wash it before using para medyo matanggal yung amoy. I want to buy an additional one sa e-bay this time gusto ko yung numbers mat.

I just purchased the baby can read last month. for the first couple of weeks eh medyo short lang ang attention span na binibigay nya every time I read him the flash cards and the book part pero mas gusto nya yung video.

i dont think you can give him pain reliever before the vaccines kasi after the vaccines eh the pedia will prescribe the medicine so im not sure kung may mabibili ka bang pain relver na di kaylangan ng prescription. its normal na lagnatin ang babies after shots but it depends sa baby kasi baby ko di nilagnat.

It was my baby's pedia who give me the instruction to give Tylenol a few minutes before the shots and cold compress too. Tylenol and Motrin can buy over the counter kahit walang prescription just make sure to follow the doses. Ever since, my baby never really had a fever after vaccines. Only penicillin and antibiotics that needs prescreptions.

She had her appointment today with her pedia. She is now weighing 11.14 pounds and 22 1/2 inches long. Sabi ng pedia niya eh she is a healthy baby. Natutuwa siya sa progress niya. Sabi niya she is in the normal range with regards to weight and height sa age niya at natutuwa naman kaming mag-asawa. I'm so proud with hubby too kasi tatay na tatay talaga siya.

Nakalimutan ko yung mga pangalan :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: she got 3 shots and one by mouth.

I give my baby a Tylenol 15 mins. before the shots to minimize muscle pain. Once we get home I wrap an ice cub in a piece of cloth and do a cold compress on the area where he got shots.

How many feedings ba normally before magustuhan nila yong baby food what ever flavor man yon. Kasi si Jacob everytime I feed him talagang di maipinta yong mukha nya, tapos talagang kino-close nya yong bibig nya pag pinapakain ko..tapos kahapon nag throw up pa sya.

may mga pagkain na sa umpisa ayaw nila yung lasa pero later they will learn to like it. tiyaga at pasensya lang Evelyn. sanay kasi sila sa baby bottle at hindi pa nila na ga-grasp yung idea of spoon feeding. Yung baby ko he prefers the yogurt cereal but I also want him to try the rice and rice with mixed fruits and the other types of cereal that has the essential nutrients that he needed pero hindi nya masyadong gusto yung texture so what I did is to mix the rice cereal with his favorite fruits like gerber mango, applesauce, yogurt(banana/strawberry)....He used to like sweet peas too pero ayaw na nya ngayon but vegetables are good so what I did right now is to mix the peas with sweet potato, gerber's turkey/chicken with gravey and to other foods that he pretty much like.

Here's some link for you to read...

Hi All,

I'm still in pain, physically and emotionally. I loss our babies (naniniwala kami na kambal ang ipinagbuntis ko) right when I passed two pieces (but connected to each other) thumb size blood clots on Saturday night. After my husband and I looked at it he then told me that I miscarried. Yesterday, we went to the doctor and even though we already knew (but we still hoped) ang sakit parin when the doctor told us that they can see no babies in the ultrasound (vaginal). There were no babies at all. Ang sakit...tapos during ultrasound, we found out that I had an ectopic pregnancy (also known as tubal pregnancy or an extrauterine pregnancy) which the reason why I was bleeding with cramps and lower back pain. We're so sad that we loss our babies but we are also thankful to God that I'm already safe now. Kasi kung hindi, kahapon din mismo tuturukan agad ako ng gamot to end my pregnancy which would be very difficult for us to let the doctor kill our babies.

Binigyan din ako ng OB ko ng Methotrexate shots (on my hips) to stop the tissue cells from growing. Kinuhanan din ako ng blood to test my hCG level and pap smear to determine infection and abnormality on my cervix and thank God the results were fine except my hCG level was high (6,000).
Pero, they're still gonna do some more lab tests on me bcoz the doctor too found out that my fallopian tube is enlarge and this one makes us really feel nervous as hell as we know this is more complicated.

RR, thank you so much for asking me if my baby and I were ok....our babies are gone. Pero happy na rin kami coz we got to see them.

I just read your post today. I am saddened for your loss. No words of consolation can ease your pain right now but PRAYERS does. ****hugs****

thanks sweetpink! sinubukan naming tumawag kanina sa OB which i have an appointment with next week pero close clinic nila. kaninang umaga medyo malakas pero nitong tanghali medyo humina na siya kaya lang masakit ang puson ko but thank God coz its not that bad...yon bang pain kapag magkakaroon tayo...pero kapag hindi pa tumigil ang bleeding padala na ako sa hospital tomorrow. pero sana mag-stop na siya coz its freakin' me out.

pain+bleeding..parang may mali na talaga sa nararamdaman mo ngayon. Don't wait for one more day, you need to go to the hospital now!

good evening mga mommies...

ask lang ako kung nakaranas ba kayo ng spotting during pregnancy? at anong kulay? ilang araw at ano yong naramdaman nyo? meron kasi ako ngayon, nung una kong punas kanina light siya tapos nagcr ako ulit at nung nag wipe ako medyo darker siya at may kasamang maliit and sticky blood. mga mommies normal lang ba ito? im really worried

when I was pregnant and around the same weeks as you are right now, I had "pinkish" discharge but it just happened once. As the fetus is growing, your uterus is expanding too so our body is undergoing so many changes. But every case is different, my thoughts to you is to contact your OB to be on a safer side.CONGRATS! and you take care of your self....keep posted :)
