K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2013 filers K1
Hey everyone!

I'm a bit late to this thread, but for the past week I've been going crazy seeing all these approvals from feb filers! Congrats! I live 15 minutes away from the Vermont service center and knowing my fiance's visa is sitting there is driving me nuts!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 being filed soon

Unless you have some issues, I would not waste time and money with an attorney. VJ has guides that will walk you through all of the steps of the immigration process. If you still get stuck there are people all over VJ to help free of charge. Think about it, you are paying someone to look at the papers for you cause what they can't do is make your case process faster no matter what they tell you. Just something to think about.

Welcome to VJ and best of luck on your journey!

It's a DIY process, unless you have red flags or have trouble with the basic instructions you can do it yourself.

The only reason I have a lawyer is because it is free of charge group legal with my employer. So I figured it can't hurt to have a second pair of eyes?

Should I just skip it?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 being filed soon
Hi All,

I first wanted to introduce myself to everyone on here! My name is Eric and my fiance's name is Jessica! We just got engaged 2 weeks ago and decided to file for her K1 visa. So far we have all the paper work in order but I have one major question.

Evidence.

I work for an airline so I regularly fly to the Dominican Republic but I never saved any of my boarding passes. Will my passport copies be enough? There are a good 20 -25 stamps on there in the past 2 years all to the Dominican Republic to see her.

Also we mainly talk via skype and whatsapp instant messaging... these conversations do not get recorded anywhere. Any recommendations on how to save our conversations? Should I screen record our skype and burn it to a DVD?

Any other advice that anyone who has done this can think of?

We are hoping to have her here in August of 2013 for a wedding on the 17th!

Wish us luck and any advice would be great! Thanks.

(P.S. Before this I worked in South Burlington, Vermont at a company that types up all the applications for this stuff to ship out to the USCIS so I've seen thousands of applications! It's kind of funny now that I'm on the other side of it all)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Fiancee Visit
Well the only reason I ask is because I work for an airline and we both receive free flight benefits. So I just figured we should take advantage of the flights and visit my extended family and such. But I guess we can just wait the 8 or 9 months :(

It just seems silly when you can fly anywhere whenever.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Fiancee Visit
Hey Guys!

My fiance and I are currently being processed for our K1 visa. I have read the information on the visitor visa and have a couple questions.

Return ticket. No Problem
Copy of lease/rental agreement or mortgage payments for housing.
Letter of employment indicating expected date of return. No Problem
If arriving on an extended stay, copy of bank statement showing sufficient funds to support yourself. No Problem
If you do not appear to have the means to support yourself while in the U.S. a letter from whomever you will be staying with stating that they will be financially responsible for you during your stay. No Problem
Copy of the K-1 application and any NOA(s) received. No Problem

My question is about the house she lives in. She currently lives with her family in a home that they completely own. they have the deed to her home, will that be enough for the visitor Visa?

Submit evidence that you and your fiance have met each other in person at some time during the two-year period from February 4, 2011 until February 4, 2013, the filing date of your petition.  Evidence should include, but is not limited to:

1.  Your own statement which must include the date, place, and circumstances of your meeting.  If you submit a personal statement it must be supported by additional evidence.

2.  Copies of travel documents (itineraries, tickets, hotel accommodations, etc.).

3.  Photos (date and place of the photo must be handwritten on photos).

4.  Letters written to each other after your meeting(S), referencing the specific date and place of your meeting(s).

5.  Photocopies of your passport and/or your fiance's passport, (including biographical data pages and pages showing entry and exit stamps) showing that you have both been present in a given location at the same time.

Affidavits of friends, neighbors, or other knowledgeable associates.   All affidavits must conform to the guidelines.

I have everything except for my fiance's passport because she lives in the Dominican Republic.  But I have everything else!  I submitted quite a bit of evidence with the application so I was surprised to receive an rfe!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE

Hey everyone,

I just got an RFE for specific evidence that we met in the past two years

I lived in her country for a year!

I included passport stamps, BBM messaging for two months, 3 photos of us together (dated & location hand written on it), the receipt for her engagement ring, and all the itineraries for my flights!

Any idea what I can send in to reply for the RFE?

I was thinking a letter from my boss at the company I worked at, more pictures of us together, and a letter from a friend who lived there with me?

Any thoughts would be helpful!
