Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHello & Intro! Guatemala experience?

We're about 7-8 weeks into our K1 visa journey before I discovered this resource/forum.  I'm from Texas and my fiancé Iris is from Guatemala.  We've known each other for a little over two years and got engaged back in May.  No background or income issues, lot's of visits and relationship evidence... hoping for no RFE's and smooth sailing/quick approval.

Anyone have any specific experience with Guatemala K1's and the embassy there?

6/25/13: I29f filed

7/1/13: NOA1 received

8/9/13: Case transferred from Vermont to Texas

Now we wait!

Russ

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaInterview next month! Have some questions though...

Hello and thank you all VJ members! Thanks God this website exist with so many helpful members...

I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong here by going to fast. i went to the embassy's website and payed the visa fee ($240) last Monday, and today I was able to schedule the appointment. During the payment and scheduling I was never asked for my case number, but all info on my fiance like passport number and contact information. Was I supposed to wait until the case reached Guatemala? My case was received by NVC last Monday. Would I be notified when the case leaves to Guatemala?

My fiance made her medical appointment for January 17. She was told that she needed to bring the embassy's appointment papers with the case number on it. We aren't sure if they were talking about the appointment confirmation sheet I got on my email since it doesn't have the case number. Or maybe is a letter from the embassy that would have the case number?

Well thank in advance for the help.

Eliezer...

Hi!!

The embassy should send you a packet to your email it says your case number and the embassy name and everything you should call them to ask for it they are a little slow on that part

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaI havent heard from the embassy

So on december 20th we recieved the letter from the NVC stating that our case had been forwarded to the Guatemalan Embassy as part of the process (our papers were approved in November by the Texas service center). I havent heard anything from the embassy and when i try to contact them by phone all i get is a call center with basic information about non.immigrant visas i cant seen to get someone to ask them specifically about my process, i cant even get anyone on the phone its all programmed stuff.. i wonder if this is a fairly regular time period for the embassy not to contact me or if i should start contacting them.. Has anything like this happened to anyone? what should i do?

The Guatemala embassy is a little slow you have to push them Try calling the embassy and getting the info you should start by filling out embassy profile in their wesite here

If you dont push they wont care!!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaNO VACCINES RECORDS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

When you go see

I just wonder if I will have to pay for another medical appointment after I get my vaccines or if I'll be able to get them with the official panel of phisicians.

When you go see the immigration doctor he will tell you what shots you need and the cost and it will all be included in the Medical cost. We payed around 300 dollars including the shots. That helped a lot because it was included in our AOS packet once he got here

Should I get them before my medical test or should I wait for the phisician to tell me which one I need?

I suggest you wait that way you will know which ones you really need because some are outdated because of age/adult
