Canada	Got Baby? Avez vous un bebe?	My hubby is the Canadian citizen. We went through K1 and AOS between May 2009 and August 2010 (seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago all at the same time). My son Ethan was born at the end of December 2011 in the US. I'm trying to get E's citizenship details and hubby's removal of conditions well under way before I return to work in April. Now that we have E's birth certificate, I applied for his NEXUS card and am awaiting approval for an interview. Since we both have NEXUS cards, NEXUS is important for us to be able to use the Whirlpool Bridge (NEXUS only bridge) in Niagara Falls and never have to worry about waiting times. Plus the NEXUS interviewer deals with the photo and hands us the ID right at the interview, so we can have the card with his picture on it relatively quickly (quicker/cheaper than a non-expedited US passport without the hassle of the passport photo before the application). Here are my questions... 1. Does it really take 9-10 months for the Canadian government to process a Request for a Canadian Citizenship Certificate when submitted through a Canadian Consul General in the US? The website says it takes longer if it is submitted to the Nova Scotia office for a child living outside of Canada. Anyone have any insight on that? If it does take that long, do they hold your supporting documents for that entire time? I don't want to be without any of our original documents for that long (especially since hubby's removal of conditions/10 year GC is starting this summer), so if they hold the documents for that entire time, I will put a higher priority on having certified copies of the supporting evidence prepared. 2. Does anyone have any insight on the most advantegous order or any helpful tips to do all this? I want to get E's US Passport, his Canadian citizenship certificate, and his Canadian passport. I know that seems like a lot of documentation for an infant, but we travel A LOT so it's helpful to have the security of multiple forms of ID for all of us. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	Case Expedited to the Embassy, need info please	HI Visa Journey, My case was expedited at the tail end of my process through NVC, I have been tracking the case which left thursday 20th and DHL confirmed my case reached Belmopan, Belize consulate on thursday the 27th of september. Both me and my wife have called the embassy asking about the case, and the women (she was nice to us, but wouldn't give us any info) informed us that she will contact us when she has the physical copy of our case. Well, i know the physical case is at the embassy and my question is does it usually take time for them to get back to you and schedule an interview through an expedite, I thought the point of an emergency expedite was for it to go as fast as possible.Do these things go through vast mail rooms or is it different or every consulate? I am not trying to sound overly impatient since many have waited longer than the 9 months I have, but something very terrible came up and any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	change back to my maiden name	He is your husband now, you are not married to your extended family(meaning he should come first, don't worry what they think). Who cares if they are mad, just because you took his name doesn't mean you are some slave to him or men in general. Understandable that your culture does not do that exact same thing, but who cares,You're not in spain anymore and continuity can and will only strengthen the relationship you have. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 April 2013 Filers	Guys... i had  very bitter experience with my Interview Yesterday... as follows   I arrived at the buffalo Office at approx. 09.10 a.m. since my Appointment was at 9.40 a.m. Then I had to wait till 10.50 a.m., coz they are 3 IO are working and they pick their PPL before they start their day... one IO was very fast they are ppl came after me and went home before they called my name.. Officer went through the application with me, name, address, any citations for speeding... then she asked me about my visit to India for 1 year 6 months, then I explained the situation y I had to leave the country...I think I am confusing u guys... this is what happened with my green card...I got my green card in Aug. 2004 but I left the country for 1 year 6 months in mid-2007 and came back march 2009 since my dad was not well... there is  a Requirement that u have to have 5 years continues residence in USA before u apply u r Citizenship? but I have stayed more than year out of the country  and  Absences from the US for one year or more: Generally, an absence of one year or more ?shall? disrupt continuity of residence, but fortunately as per the USCIS Website its say   ?For period in excess of one (1) year. Unless an applicant applies for benefits in accordance with § 316.5(d) , absences from the United States for a continuous period of one (1) year or more during the period for which continuous residence is required under § 316.2(a)(3) and (a)(5) shall disrupt the continuity of the applicant's residence. An applicant described in this paragraph who must satisfy a five-year statutory residence period may file an application for naturalization four years and one day following the date of the applicant's return to the United States to resume permanent residence. An applicant described in this paragraph who must satisfy a three-year statutory residence period may file an application for naturalization two years and one day following the da te of the applicant's return to the United States to resume permanent residence. So I try to explain her but she was no mood to listen what u say? she was so dumb? she doesn?t no any laws with USCIS and she has been working with USCIS since 27 years?. I was so frustrated coz I got IO doesn?t know anything about what she has been doing for 27 years?.lol?. unbelievable   Here are the interview Questios   Who is the vice president? How many amendments does the Constitution have? What stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful? What is the highest court in the United States? Why did the colonists fight the British? What territory did the United States buy from France? Any way I was passed English and Civics Test then she has given me the N-652 its says that ?Decision Cannot be Made yet after the interview? , I was very unlucky, I don?t know what will happen if they deny my application I am going to court ?.what u guys say?   But there are ppl before me finished their interviews in 10 min? mine was coz of the DUMB IO ? interview is very easy ?. Basically you can file 90 days before your anniversary. Canada	Crossing into Canada after filing I-130	Hi all,   I realize this has probably been posted a zillion times, but everything I've read is from a few years ago so I want to be sure I am getting the most up to date information. I My husband and I have been married since January, and we are unsure what to tell the border officials. I know that sounds stupid but we are both completely new at this. We have filed our paperwork as of May, and we have the first notice that everything was received. I would like to know basically what is the best way to cross to ensure that we neither of us will be banned or that our application will not be put into jeopardy. He lives full time in Canada, is not a permanent resident of the US and does not work here. I am the USC and I live fulltime in the US and work full time in the US, so we are just visiting each other (we live in border towns.) Does anyone have any experience with this or good advice to give me? What documents should I bring? Should I bring all of my copies of the petition?
