K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVSC march filer not transferred to other office yet, should i be worried?

I would guess you didn't get transferred because someone either has already been working on your file, or you're one of the few batches that have already been assigned an IO when was the last time your file was touched?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Case number - LMD***********

SOF is for Sophia, Bulgaria

I would recommend calling the NVC to make sure they're forwarding your case to the right city. Perhaps a new Embassy/Consulate opened up in Bulgaria closer to you, or perhaps there was a typo.

None of the consulate acronyms listed on the page I linked you to are LMD. LND is London, England, and that's the closest.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Case number - LMD***********
NVC Case Number for Consular Processing or Immigrant Visa

When NVC receives the approved immigrant petition from USCIS, it generates the NVC case number, which is different than USCIS receipt number.

The NVC case number is in the format of - EEEYYYYOOOSSS. That is three letters followed by ten digits.

e.g., BMB 2010 534 003
  • EEE - The U.S. Embassy or the Consulate that will process the immigrant visa. E.g., BMB for Bombay (Mumbai),
  • MDR for Madras (Chennai) and NWD for New Delhi. Embassy/Consulate Codes.
  • YYYY - The year in which the case was received by NVC from the USCIS. This year is the calendar year which runs from January to December. It is not the USCIS fiscal year that runs from October to September. e.g., 2010
  • OOO - Julian Date which is Ordinal Date plus 500.
Example 1 - 534 means the case was created on 34th day of the year, that is February 3.

Example 2 - The case was created on March 4, 2010. This digits would show 563 (500 + 63rd day)
SSS - Sequence number for the day

e.g., 002 means this case was the second approved petition scanned on that day for that particular
U.S. Embassy/Consulate.

It's the same at any other service center. A box of petitions gets dropped on an adjudicator's desk, depending on what else (s)he is working on depends on how long it takes for them to get to the box, then it depends on how fast they are, which will depend on how quickly those decisions and RFEs go.

It's not about the TSC as much as it is about the Adjudicator handling your case.

It's pretty easy you go here, which you can get to by visiting the USCIS website and entering in your receipt number in the "case status" box on the left navigation.

It looks like this:
11l29fm.jpg

Then you'll be on this page:
a0km5c.jpg

From there you change the last 2 digits in your case number down or up.

So 811, 812, 865, 866, 889, 890, etc

Yep, that's what I noticed too as I tried to analyse my case number hehe, my case's number "computer workday" is 902 as well, and the case number starts with an 8...

Hm, what does the difference in the first five last digits mean, like yours is 6 and mine is 8 -  are these random too? because if they are - tracking April cases is a tricky thing to do smile.png

I don't think so. I sent my petition on 4/9, and my "receipt date" on my NoA-T was 4/12, which it looks like it's 10 days after yours, so that would make sense. So perhaps the "work day" was replaced instead by the case number solely. That was written in 2008, so it's 5 years old.

Granted that's not completely correct anymore, as my case number's "computer workday" is 902, and my "case number" starts with a 6...

But they may have started counting "computer workday" since X date (if I'm accurate they've been doing this since 2010 or 2009's fiscal year) and I'm sure the case numbers have since gone up since 2008.

Yes we are, and yes they are -- Receipt numbers do not go by petition type, they go by the order in which the Service Center receives and processes each and every petition.

Example of such receipt number is
EAC 08 015 50023

First three letters represent the service center received the case.
There are four service centers:
EAC - Vermont Service Center (Previous name: Eastern Adjudication Center).
LIN - Nebraska Service Center (LIN refers to Lincoln, Nebraska).
SRC - Texas Service Center (Previous name: Southern Regional Center).
WAC - California Service Center (Previous name: Western Adjudication Center).

08 - Represents the fiscal year in which the case was received. Fiscal year 2008 runs from Oct 1, 2007 to Sep 30, 2008.

015 - Represents the computer workday in the fiscal year on which the fee was taken. 001 is October 1, the first
working day of the fiscal year. 015 represents 15th working day which was actually Oct 19, 2007. Computer work day
is really a business day and it excludes most Saturdays, all Sundays and holidays. Towards the end of the fiscal year in
September, the number goes up to around 265.

50023 - Represents the particular case number. The number always starts with 5 and it has a total of five digits.

Therefore, this receipt number means:
this case was the 23rd case received in CLAIMS3 LAN on the 15th computer work day of fiscal year 2008 at Vermont Service Center.

Most cases filed at USCIS have this type of receipt number.

I found this information here.

I was running through this one myself... This is what I got (I'm 466):

400-410  [Not Applicable (Not I-129F petitions)]
411 [RFE 6/5]

412-417 [Transfer]
418 [Decision 7/22]
419 [Decision 6/12]
420 [RFE]
421-422 [Transfer]
423 [Decision 7/22]
424-428 [Transfer]
429 [Decision - 7/19]
430 [Transfer]
431-432 [Decision 7/22]
433 [RFE 7/20]
434 [Closed (Not Available)]
435-436 [Decision 7/22]
437 [Transfer]
438 [RFE 5/3]
439 [Decision 7/22]
440 [Closed]
441-464 [Not Applicable]
465 [Alien Registration Number (ARN) 4/19]
466-468 [Transfer]
469 [Closed]
470 [Decision 7/14]
471 [Transfer]
472-499 [Not Applicable]

I'm guessing that an Ajudicator is working on the box, chances are the case numbers are not in order and they're just going through the box by pulling a file out and working on it. I also noticed that a lot of those cases didn't show up as approved until last night, so perhaps they post all the approvals at the end of the day. Lets wait and see what happens after 5pm Texas time. tongue.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F send to texas???

If you're outside the 5 month processing time (which I believe you're right around that border) you can file a Service Request.

A Service Request (I just found this out today) is a request for an immigration officer to look at your case and give you an estimate for when it'll be adjudicated. This can be slowed down by countries who aren't completely computerized, so they have to search through and send physical files for background checks, but your fiance(e) is from the UK so I doubt that's an issue. :)

I would recommend that if by month 6 you don't have an RFE or a Decision, then you should contact a Tier 2 IO & file a service request or if applicable an e-request as well as write a letter or email to your congressman to bring attention to your case.

If you are not adjudicated by 8 months, schedule and infopass appointment and contact your congressman again.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but typically the timeline goes much like this:

  • Send Petition
  • Receive Electronic Notification of acceptance [Typically within 24-48 hours of your file being delivered to the drop box -- varies on postal delivery]
  • Receive NoA1 [Typically within 1-2 Weeks]
  • Wait...
  • Wait some more...
  • Keep waiting...
  • Wait some more... & when you're ready to tear your hair out or go stalk the USCIS office closest to you....
  • IF APPLICABLE
    • Electronic Notification of Transfer (email 1)
    • Electronic Notification of File being mail (email 2) [Typically within hours of email 1]
    • Receive NoA-T (Notice of Action Transfer) [Typically 1-2 weeks from email 1]
    • Electronic Notification of file received at new Service Center. [Typically 1-2 weeks from email 1]
  • RFE / Decision [Varies, but the Federal goal is 5 months, check processing times for your center -- note these do change regularly]
  • IF APPLICABLE
    1. ??Electronic Notification of RFE
    2. RFE in Snail Mail [Typically in about 2 weeks]
    3. Mail in RFE Response [Varies on you]
    4. RFE Response Review [Typically within a week of them receiving your RFE Response, but it can vary]
    5. Decision [Usually with 1 week of RFE Response Review, but it can vary]
  • Electronic Notification of your file being sent to NVC [typically 1-2 weeks]
  • Stalk NVC for Case number [2-6 weeks, used to be typically 2 weeks, recently they seem to be slow -- may change]
  • NVC Forwards your case to the Beneficiary's Embassy/Consulate [typically 2 week]
  • Embassy sends packet 3 [typically within a week of file being transferred]
  • Mail back completed Packet 3 [Depends on you]
  • Embassy sends packet 4 & Interview is scheduled [typically within 1-2 weeks of receiving packet 3]
  • Interview [Varies... depends on consulate/embassy, I would recommend checking your country's reviews to find out]
  • Visa is issued / Denial reason given / RFE
  • If Visa is issued, Visa is available for pickup/mailed [Typically within 2 weeks, but varies on embassy/consulate]

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPast Suggested Processing Time on K-1 - What do to?

You need to contact a Tier 2 immigration officer.

The people you initially speak with are Tier 1. Once you reach one and you provide them with your information ask to be transferred to a "Tier 2 Immigration Officer" from there, you'll be transferred and there's typically about a 2 hour wait. If you have a US number, you can opt into the "call back service" They will call you back and you won't lose your place in line. It helps so you don't waste cell phone minutes and can go about your day.

On a side note many people complain that the T2 IOs are rather rude, so always remember to be polite. The one I spoke with was a bit curt at first, but once he realized I wasn't going to chew him out, he was very polite and helpful. :)

PhilippinesFiance tested positive for syphilis

As others have mentioned your partner should get treatment as soon as possible. He should also get re-tested to make sure the first test was not a false positive (about 18% of tests result in false positives). If a second test also shows as positive then as mentioned he'll need antibiotics. How long the treatment takes depends on the level of infection. An infection caught early (primary) can usually be cured with a single injection of a long-acting penicillin. Someone who has been infected for longer (secondary or tertiary infection) will need a longer course of penicillin (or another antibiotic if allergic to penicillin).

Unless he has or has had a body rash along with aches and pains he's probably still in the primary stage which would mean he was infected within the last 10 to 90 days.

Also, ordinary people have no idea that there is some sort of process to bring a spouse to the U.S.

3. Immigration and Naturalizaton Act, 201 (b) - and many other places.  Standing law generally refers to all law, cases, statutory legislation as well as regulations and in many places, the law acknowledges the precedence of family unification in all immigration matters.

we, with i-130 petition for a spouse, do have the precedence according to the law, and don't have to wait for a visa number, but we do not have the precedence among ourselves. With so many I-130 petitions being processed, difficult to know who has the precedence..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe Mystery of the elusive sealed box
this is hilarious, i don't have any answer, but I am glad you posted this.

First off, I'll start by saying, I'm happy for them:
http://www.visajourn...8316-isabel616/

However, I'm trying to grasp just how VSC and CSC process these petitions.

Say, you mail a petition (hypothetically ;))

CSC or VSC get it and put it in "a box" ne'er to be seen again for 5 months. (or more)

How is it.....say.....that a 12/1 petition gets processed around the same time as a 1/31 petition. Now, I understand that different folks have different boxes and so I understand the idea of overlapping...some.... and I understand the idea of expedited. I just think some of the overlapping is a bit wide of a gap no?

The case at the top was not expedited, at least, I don't think so because she sounds so surprised.

Just how does a petition from 5/9 end up in the January pile? Posted Image

Maybe this question goes on the forum for unanswered mysteries of the universe:

If you received NOA1 in April...give it 5 months. Seriously...that's a safe average.  Those who receive NOA2 in a couple of months are outside of the norm....and should consider themselves lucky.

I was one of the Dec 2012 filers whose case originated in the VSC (Vermont Service Center) and ended up in TSC (Texas ...).  I think we all waited around 6 1/2 months...imagine the pain.   If your case is in California...they seem to move pretty fast...

.but i'd say...just relax and sit back...and give it 5 months...no worries.

I actually travelled to brazil to see my fiancé during the process. This helped keep us sane....As well as this site.

UPDATE

Well have still been trying to find out where my package was. After placing many calls to the USPS (worst service I have ever seen. Most of them were useless. Thier most popular response "I can't help you") Well finally after filing 5 reports on Monday I got a call from the supervisor at my local post office. And he told me that it was deliverd on 7/7/13. Even though I checked online the tracking number still does have it not deliverd. I called the USCIS and talked to them to see if they had it, they said it could talke up to 10 days to get into the system, it was not in there yet. they were wonderful to deal with called 2 times and both times they were great. Well I get home today and in my mail was an envelope from USCIS?!?!?!? I open it up and there was a letter saying my package arrive damaged and they can not prosses it. They included what they got in there. Part of the envelope and only about 10% of the paper work and my check. everything was WET! and the ink was smudged. that is how the post office delived it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the Post office LOST IT!!!!! then they DESTROYED IT!!!!!!!!! and went and delivered it like that. I will be going to the post office tomarrow morning(it is right across the street from me) and I will be going ape ###### on whoever is in charge there.(I almost feel bad for them) I AM SOOOO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW.

I mailed my K1 package out on June 18. I sent it priority certified mail. And the postal service LOST IT!!!!! On June 19 the package left the Rochester NY sorting facilty and has not been scaned since. I have spent the last week on the phone with them, either I get someone on the phone that is useless and is of no help at all. Or spend an hour on hold and get "we will look into it". Last person I talked to said I have to wait 30 days then they will consider it lost and will refund the postage. I told them I want the package found not a refund. There is way too much information in that package that I don't want lost out there in who knows where. And having to go though getting a new package togther again. I made copies of everything in the one I sent, But they want all the forms and letters with original signatures on them, so I would have to redo all of those again and send then off to Japan for her to sign and fill out some of it. I am soooooooo pissed off.

Anybody know of any contact numbers for the USPS where I can get in contact with someone that can help? This is turning into a real nightmare!

If I have to send out a 2nd one I will be using FedEx next time.   USPS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So how come you agreed with me when i said, quote "As i keep telling people since you don't know the details of this particular case you can't know if it was even supposed to be transferred. They're transferring I-130 for immediate relatives filed by USCs. This could be something else. " but you still keep doing this? Maybe K-3. Maybe I-130 for a spouse filed by a USC. Maybe not. Not helping, you know?

the idea that you have to know the details to give an opinion is wrong according to me. By now everyone knows that only uscis knows the details, so why bother, everybody else pretends they know the details..

we just give our own opinions here, we can change our minds if we want, we are just trying to understand, not to lead... so don't take everything for granted... even by uscis, ....let alone by pseudo immigration lawyers/experts who believe their opinions are always to be taken for granted, and also can end up being wrong.

my opinions are not taken for granted, therefore are not harmful, they are just another different way from that of the 'experts' who are just spokesman not of their own thoughts, but others.

if i want details about my petition i ask directly uscis, not my lawyer or an expert.reading.gif
