K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	regret ever starting this process	The Tier 1 (T1) Immigration Officers (IOs) are the first people you speak to when you call the USCIS customer service number. They can only see what you, yourself, can see when checking your case status via the USCIS page, and the "my account" page, and what can be found on the website. They cannot do much for you, unfortunately.   T1 IOs often give misinformation and are notorious for misleading people, or having them fill out the wrong forms.   When you call, give the T1 IO all your information -- case #, birthday, etc... whatever they need to pull up your file; when they transfer you to the Tier 2 IO they will need that information since they send it along with the call. Once they have your file tell them you have case specific question and ask to speak with a Tier 2 (T2) IO. They will try and offer you a call back in 3-5 business days or the option to wait. Choose to wait. The T2 IO will then have your case pulled up when your call is picked up in the queue. If you're calling from a US number, I would recommend opting in for their "automated call back service". You will not lose your place in line, and you don't have to stay on the phone -- saving you minutes and time. The service will call you back 1 minute before a T2 IO picks up your call in the queue.   As a word of advice -- it's a common occurrence for the IOs to be quite rude, so remain calm, and polite and write down their ID number. Once they know you wrote that down, they're usually EXTRA nice. Also make sure that you make it well known that you've called (and if you have the logs on your phone, gives dates & times) to have your RFE re-sent. Tell them you never received the hard copy, and that you don't  know what evidence you need to provide. Tell them you've been waiting for 60 days and INSIST that something be done now. I had this issue with my NoA2, I never got the hardcopy... I had to nag the ####### out of them. I emailed my senator, called USCIS several times, emailed the service center, and emailed the USCIS Headquarters. I have the NoA2 now though.   Don't give up, just be a big enough pain in their ####### that they will HAVE to pay attention. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NOA2 08/19/13 CSC, still no case number. Is my case lost? Pls help	CSC and TSC are taking their sweet time in shipping approved cases to the NVC.   If you have not gotten a notification that your case has been sent to NVC, then your case is likely still at the CSC. You can call the USCIS customer service line to check this, if you doubt the online case status form.   NVC is stating that it takes up to 8 weeks for USCIS to ship approved/reaffirmed cases to them. This means that your case is likely just waiting in the backlogged queue. The trend seems to be about 6 weeks currently.   I was approved 7/26 and my case wasn't shipped until 9/4.   If your unsure of where your case is at... call the USCIS customer service line, once you give the Tier 1 Rep (the first person you talk to) your case information so they can bring up your file, ask to be transferred to a Tier 2 Rep. They'll offer you a call back service in 3-5 business days or the choice to wait. Choose to wait; the wait is typically around 2 hours. If you're calling from a US number you can opt into the automated call back service which will call you back once your up in the queue. You won't lose your place in line, but it helps so you don't have to wait holding a phone to your head for 2 hours.   Good luck! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	USC laid off before Fiance's interview & after Packet 3	I filled out an updated I-134 and labelled myself as "self employed" considering I'm an independent contractor as a web software developer that's entirely truthful. I retained the same income information for 2013 (which I did make that amount), and backed it up with income tax returns.   I also had my mother fill out an I-134 in case they needed a co-sponsor and sent both to my fiance. I told him if they ask if anything changed to hand the updated I-134 and if that wasn't enough to hand over the co-sponsor.   I'll let you all know how it goes... if any Senior VJ'ers have any advice, let me know.	d3adc0d3	Not Telling	Argentina	2014-02-06 20:33:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	USC laid off before Fiance's interview & after Packet 3	Hey all,   I haven't posted in a while, mostly because there's been no updates. My fiance has been having a hard time gathering some of the legal documents for the paperwork (things get lost in the mail, or they didn't provide the right one, etc etc).   But we have just finished and mailed out packet 3 yesterday... and today I got laid off from my job of 3 1/2 years. Keep in mind, we've already had our petition approved, so this is mainly about the interview and whatnot. I qualify for unemployment, which will give me income for 6+ months which is above the 125% and I have a lucrative job as a web developer, so I'll be able to freelance for extra income, as well as likely find a new job in a couple months. My mother is also willing to co-sponsor.   I guess what I want to know, is will me getting laid off be an issue? We're at the Buenos Aires embassy.   What should I do in this case? From what I've seen on here, people wait at least a month for them to get it. Do I really need all of those items? I can get another certified copy of my birth certificate. Would I need to mail it to her for her interview or is scanning it in as a PDF and emailing that acceptable? Thanks!   That depends on your country. Argentina requires it, and some things they don't require, but I'd rather him have it in case they ask.   You might be able to download it from the Ukraine embassy's site. However, to be on the safe side, I'd order your tax transcript from the IRS. That shows everything on your 1040, but also shows that you actually filed it. I'm assuming the PDF version you are referring to is from either your tax preparer or turbo tax. Copy of my 2012 W2 from my employer Printed the PDF version of my 2012 Tax Return Letter from my employer stating salary and start date (also on paystubs) Last 2 paystubs (I can scan and send him copies to print up to the date of his interview) Certified original of my Birth Certificate. Certified copy of of my Divorce Decree. (2) copies of the DS-156 filled out & unsigned. (1) copy of the DS-157 filled out & unsigned. (1) copy of the DS-156K filled out & unsigned. (1) copy of the DS-260 filled out & unsigned. (2) of his passport pictures printed out on glossy photo paper (I have the digital copies of his) (1) copy of our entire I-129F with all new (and original) signatures on everything.  Call logs printed right from my cell phone. It shows several calls at the beginning, middle & end of every month since I returned from my visit in Argentina Screen shots of our skype conversations. Text log printed from my cell phone, there's not a lot there but it's something. Proof of engagement: Does a screen shot of my FB announcement count? He doesn't have a receipt for my ring, I could take a picture of it on me? Am I missing anything? I don't have any new pictures of us together, I was there in January, applied in April and it's only September. So happy for you!   I called DOS regarding my case still pending at NVC and the lady did not even know what to tell me because there are no comments made on my case, besides the fact that it is held at NVC. I spoke to a Tier2 and she put in a service request for the NOA2 to be sent to me but today is 2 weeks after and I called and asked to speak to a Tier 2 given the answer they gave me.  The thing is that the Tier2 of today's phone call did not seem to know any more than a regular representative. She could not tell me what happened to the last service request. INSTEAD SHE SENT ME TO FILL OUT THE I824!     That's not correct, you need to insist. You never received the original, you're not asking for a duplicate. I called USCIS and all they told me this time was that there was no need for a service request... blah blah blah, and that they will transfer me to a tier 2, for which I am still waiting a call back.   Also that I need to go ahead and file the form  I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition This form has a cost of $405 dollars!!!!     Can you guys believe this?! This fee is even more money than the I129F itself!  Any ideas of this?   I am totally amazed! I can't understand all of this BS!!!!   They gave me that shpeal too but I knew it was misinformation, I asked to be transferred and a T2 IO filed a Service Request to have my NoA2 resent about a week or two ago. Then I called again about it, and I was informed that it was mailed out yesterday!   I would say call again, and make sure that you're firm that you never received the initial NoA2 and you're not asking for a duplicate, you're asking for the initial approval notice which you never received.   So don't let them con you into paying the fee for a duplicate copy, make sure you stand your ground and you'll get it.	d3adc0d3	Not Telling	Argentina	2013-09-04 19:05:00

I'm assuming its texas. God knows how long it will them to "adjudicate" our file at texas.  My fiancee is thinking of reaching out to the senator, if we don't hear back by next week.   how long does it take from the point you're approved - to the file going to the NVC - to the file reaching the local office in foreign country? Is there a general timeframe?     Your fiance(e) is from India, which if I recall correctly, India is a "high fraud risk" country. Unfortunately, this adds some processing time to your petition regardless of the service center.   Keeping that in mind, the TSC usually adjudicates a case within 4-8 weeks of a transfer, but I am not 100% sure, but you can change your Service Center to Texas for your timeline to get a rough estimate. Keep in mind the data for the TSC is extremely variable right now as it is very new. I remember I would check mine every day and it was always changing. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	April Filers 2013 K1	so....my fiancee and I have waited THIS long, only to have our case transferred to another jurisdiction.   Such BS!   Doesn't look like we'll be together until 2014   I've linked several disgruntled people to this thread, so if I've already done so with you my apologies. http://www.visajourn...service-center/   But the TSC transfer is not a bad thing, as much as people would think it is. Most cases which are transferred are adjudicated much faster than they would be if they remained at VSC. You do not go at the bottom of the pile, you will not lose your place "in line" and your case will be picked up and should be adjudicated within the 5 month time-frame of your initial filing. Have some patience the process is frustrating for everyone. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	April Filers 2013 K1	Ok... here are the results of my call with the Tier2 Rep.   I waited on the phone for over an hour and a half and at the end a lady answered. She said that "cases are NOT transferred back to VSC after TSC has approved them", but that within the next 30 days after approval the NVC should receive the file and I should call NVC to make sure if they got it. The same thing with the hard copy of the NOA2. She said I have to wait til the end of the 30 days, which would be on the 27th of August. If I did not get a hard copy by then, I must call them and they would send me a second copy on certified mail.      Weird, I wonder if they changed the process, or if I was given misinformation.   I haven't gotten my NoA2 in the mail yet either...
