K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril Filers 2013 K1

I know the feeling! I'm getting all the documents I have to mail to him together (Birth & Divorce Certs, documents with original signatures, etc) and sending them out with a care package and a note.

It helps me feel a little less useless and impatient when I have something to do to possibly speed along the process. :c

Today at 7:45 est time I received another update in my email. Editing it but it says The last processing action taken on your case. ETC ETC The I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at  edit #

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

When I checked my Status on USCIS it said: The I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at Edit. #  ETC ETC

I also received a text message... it basically says my case has been updated.

I hope hope HOPE this is good news. goofy.gif  I have been searching the posts made but didnt see about a third email with a text. Unless I overlooked it. Has anyone else received these messages in this order?? Wonder what is next!!!!

http://www.visajourn...her-processing/

Read that thread (and the posts on it). It should help explain a few things. smile.png

The text message is just another notification option you get when signing up for notifications. You'll sometimes get them when your case is updated. It's not terribly reliable, but it's standard.

I typed info in about the transfer in my comments because the RFE dates section pushed my timeline back further, so I felt that was likely inaccurate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril Filers 2013 K1

I absolutely despise my country. Not a DAMN thing is a straightforward process. It's a bureaucratic NIGHTMARE! I'll spare you guys the deatils---just a rant to blow off some steam.

Anyway, so I had emailed the VSC to find out whether I need to get a police report from the US (since i've resided there for most of my life)...shockingly, I get a reply saying "Based on the information you have provided, the Vermont Service Center (VSC) is not able to locate a record of your filing at this office."

What is going on???

Contact a tier 2 immigration officer when you call, they may have transferred your case, lost the files, or you could've just had an incompetent customer service professional.

To check the status of your case online you can go here and enter your receipt number (should start with three letters, like the VSC usually starts with "EAC". That will tell you if it's in their electronic system or if it's been approved/denied.

To get MORE information you can create an account here, and it'll show when your file was last touched by an immigration officer, and some more details. You have your NoA1, with your Reciept # they should be able to locate your files.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril Filers 2013 K1

USCIS website was updated again & VSC is processing at 5 months again.

I've seen some March filers getting approved, so I think we're not too far behind; people with March NoA1's stating they've been approved, and several late Feb filers.

I also saw a post that VSC transferred the backlogged case files from Feb 25th and back over to TSC, so that sped up their processing which is why I believe we're seeing March filers getting approved.

Granted this is all my observations of the boards, so don't take any of this as fact, and every case is different so people will process at different times.

Will I get RFE? My fiancee accidentally sent photocopies of my bio form ( with sig), part c and part b question 18 ( with his sig) and his intent to marry with incorrect house number. Maybe he got confused between the original and photocopies. =/

No one can say for sure, but it is possible. An RFE isn't a denial though, and when you get one it means they're actually ready to process and approve/deny your case. They'll only delay your case decision by a couple weeks, which is never fun, but after MONTHS of waiting a couple weeks is merely annoying compared to a lifetime you'll have together!

I would say prepare everything now, so you have all the documents done the RIGHT way just in case, and cross your fingers that they won't mind the errors as much. :)

Adding to this.

People please read the threads!!!

And secondly, if you didn't get a notice of transfer, don't panic. California filers don't seem to get das boot (yet.), and not everyone gets sent, or sent in the same batch even.

Keep calm and carry on my friends.

And to the OP, thanks for starting this thread. We'll have to see if a mod can sticky it or keep bumping it up...cause this does seem to come up a lot lately...

You're welcome. :)

That was quick. Been waiting for 3 days, still nothing.. do they transfer all cases to TSC?

I don't think anyone knows for sure until you get the NoA-T but it does appear to be that way based on previous transfers, and how things have been done in batches.

That was a quick delivery! Hope that means we are going to get processed faster. The waiting game starts again.

I live in Buffalo, NY which is only 400 miles from the VSC. It only usually takes a 2-3 days to for mail from anywhere in New England to get here. :)

Am I missing something here?  It seems to me that four weeks from June 21st is July 21st...which is nine days from now... and six weeks would be August 5th.   So how could cases have been adjudicated in a period that has yet to transpire?

That was my bad I was referring to the May transfers. xD

I hate not being able to go back and edit my post after a while. I will often post and then notice (or have someone point something out) later and I can't just go fix it. :c

On May 28, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer
This is means papers in process already? And kindly when we expect noa 2.. thank you:)

That is the "new" standard for pre-processing I-129F petitions. It means your file is in the electronic system and you're in for the wait game.

I got that notification a few days after I got my NoA1. I have yet to get my NoA2. Hang in there, you got a long wait.

I'd suggest reading up and pouring over the threads to learn as much as possible. I only know the journey for as far as I've made it and from what I've read in here. :)

This is the third message I got:

Out of curiosity, how do you know what the messages mean regarding the electronic and physical files? Nothing in the messages indicates that either way.

I called a Tier 2 Officer and asked him to explain. He explained that the first email you get is the electronic notification (in this instance). The second was the actual mailing of the physical files. In the case of the NoA1, that's standard protocol. They scan the file & mail the petition to the assigned Service center once the electronic processing is complete. Several threads have covered this in the past. :)

That would be your NoA1 notice. It means your case has been scanned into the electronic system and your physical files are getting forwarded to the Vermont Service Center.

Case Transfers
 Current as of July 2013.

Many posts are being made about transfers, and what these emails/notifications mean.
If you received a notice that looked like one of the following, your case has been transferred to another Service Center.... NOT your local office. Local offices do not process I-129F petitions. This transfer is usually a good thing. A transfer will occur when a Service Center is backlogged and cannot keep up with the influx of petitions, so they transfer the backlogged cases to another service center so those people can be processed in a timely manner. If you were told you have to wait another 180 days -- this is incorrect. Many Tier 1 Immigration Officers (the first people you talk to when you call the customer service number) are given a script to read from, which more often than not contains misinformation. They do not have access to any information that you, yourself cannot find online by either checking your case status or what is available on the USCIS website. Your case will be processed by receipt date, at the speed of the adjudicator processing it, and influenced by the complexity of the case.

In many cases there will be three notifications when a case is transferred.

The first notification will contain something like this:

On July 10, 2013, we transferred this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) to another office for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

This means that USCIS has sent your electronic file to the other office. Every time your file is handled by someone they have to scan it (to track where it is and who last handled it so they know who is responsible if anything come back with an issue), when they scan it if there are updates regarding your case (transfer, RFE, typographical error, inquiry, etc) there will be an accompanying message.

The second notification will typically be a few hours after and will contain something like this:

On July 10, 2013, we transferred your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), to your local USCIS Office for further processing.  The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed.  If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

This means that USCIS has mailed your physical file to the Service Center that will be processing your case moving forward.

The third notification will be about a week later and will contain something like this:

On July 17, 2013, we received the I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), transfer to your local USCIS Office.  This office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed.  If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

Note: Email 3's text above is a guess, if anyone has a REAL notification like this, please let me know so I can update it with the actual notification text, I couldn't find a post that quoted the text.

This means the Service Center that is processing your file has received the physical file and will begin processing once the adjudicator picks up the batch (based on received date).

What does this mean for me?
This means that for most straight forward cases you may see your NoA2 or an RFE within a month or two. If your case is not straight forward or your case got flagged, it may take longer. Keep in mind every case is different. If you are outside the standard processing times you should contact the USCIS Customer Service line and ask to speak to a Tier 2 Immigration Officer. You should make sure your case wasn't lost in the shuffle, and that it is being worked on. Find out if you missed any notifications or if there is something that you can do to help move it along. Some immigration officers can be quite rude, so always remember to be as polite as possible. These people are overloaded with work and they're just people too. Be clear, concise, and to the point. They are busy people and their time is valuable.

So I can expect to get approved in a month or two?
This is the United States Government. Nothing is a guarantee. You MIGHT hear back in a month or two... You might not. It might be an approval, it might be an RFE, it might even be a denial. A lot of cases which were transferred in the June 21st batch (2013) from the VSC to the TSC were adjudicated within 4-6 weeks. Follow the forum posts stay alert, and watch the progress of people within your Service Center to get an idea of what is going on. The speed of who is getting their cases adjudicated has to do with the complexity of the case, whether you're beneficiary is in a high fraud risk country, and the speed in which the adjudicator themselves work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Approved! (221g) April 2013 Filer (Argentina)

We had our interview and the interviewer told us that we were approved on the spot!

We got a 221g because he needs to have his medical re-done (it expired by the time the interview came around), an original copy of his birth certificate (evidently the copy he had wasn't good enough, not really sure the difference, tbh) and passport photos (the ones we provided were not in spec).

We have the medical scheduled in two days, and the Birth Certificate we're getting tomorrow along with the passport photos!

Very exciting.

The interview went much like this:

We showed up a half hour early, and sat around for about an hour. They called his name, and we went into the pre-processing for the interview. The lady pre-processing us was very impressed and thankful I was there for the interview. She asked for some documents and we handed them to her.

She thanked me again for being there for the interview and asked me how my stay was in Argentina. She checked with her manager on the medical, and told us the interviewer will review the documents.

We waited about a half hour to an hour, and they called his name again, so we went back to the little tiny closet of an interview room. :)

We both walked in, and the interview asked in very good English (I think he was a US citizen, actually), if English was ok. We said yes, and he told us what he would need us to bring back. Then he asked, where did we meet? Have I met his family while I'm in Argentina? Has he visited the US? How long have we been together? When do we plan on travelling back to the US?

He then told us that we're APPROVED. But we need to bring back papers. He handed us the 221g and told us to drop off the packet where we dropped off packet 3, and we can pick up the visa within 2 business days of when we dropped it off. He congratulated us, and told us that we're a cute couple. :)

This was the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

:)

My NVC Case Creation Date Changed today.

Our case has been at the NVC in Buenos Aires for about a year now (getting paperwork in Argentina can be like pulling teeth), and I was there for the interview but we were informed that we were approved but we needed to re-do the medical because it expired, get a specific certification/seal thingy on the birth certificate for the Argentinian citizen, and have him re-take his passport photos because they were not in spec.

We did that all and dropped off a packet with the remaining documents on 8/11/2014 at the very end of the day.

I've been regularly checking up on the status it still shows "Administrative Processing" which I expected, and it initially changed on 8/13/2014.

Now I have a new case creation date?! o_O

It took forever to get the paperwork that was required together. South America makes getting official records complicated. Even when we managed to get everything together, they were not the "right kinds" and we had to re-do the medical because it expired. It may be different for you, but it's still a long ride either way.

sweet cakes is correct, its been a while since I was at that stage so I forgot that... it takes a few weeks to get shipped out to NVC. You can still call a Tier 2, but they'll likely just tell you what sweet cakes told you.

If you don't hear anything 10 days after the 5 week period call a Tier 2 IO. They should be able to give you a more in depth response. This process is LONG. Patience is key. We applied April 2013, and he's just now got his visa in hand.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 19th August, still not shipped to NVC.

You should call and ask to speak with a Tier 2 Officer, a Tier 1 (the first people you speak to) can only see what you see online. A tier 2 can look into your case more in depth. You will have a long wait on the phone, if you opt into the "call back" service (via a US number) you will NOT lose your place in line, and they will call you back a few minutes before your turn in line. :)

Don't rely too heavily on the electronic system when it comes to the USCIS process, I didn't get notice until 3 days after they shipped it, some don't get any notice at all.

I had my interview at the US embassy in London on 21st August. I was approved and the interview went very smoothly. I have checked the CEAC everyday and it still shows 'Ready for interview'. It shows that it has been updated everyday with that days date. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a problem or can my visa still be processing when it shows visa still be processing when it shows 'ready for interview'?

I would recommend emailing or calling the consulate and asking about the status. Mine was in AP for about 2 months after our interview, but my fiance is from Argentina not the UK. The best way to know what's going on is to contact them directly and ask.

AP ? the case file was last updated 31 days ago because that's when they recieved the paperwork they requested.

AP = Administrative Processing

Ready = Ready to receive documents and set up an interview.

Issued = Visa has been issued and will be available for pickup soon.

Denied = Visa has been denied.

You can check your status on the CEAC website, using your Immigrant Visa Case number. I have a link for it in my signature.

You can send the embassy an email asking for an update, when was your case file last updated? Is it still in AP?
