There is a Consular office in Mobay, I've been there a few times, but its not good for much. Its catered to Americans since it is apart of the US Embassy. But more so for American tourists, or visitors to the island who may not be JA residents yet. I wish they would have an Embassy extension in Mobay. That woulda helped me out so many times. I have yet to go to Kingston, cause its just so far away from my family there and annoying to get to.

This whole wait for 3 months to get an interview date is ridiculous!! Seriously the CR1 visa would be so simple and easy if Jamaica didn't tack on an additional 60-90days after NVC to schedule an interview! I cannot believe that little island processes THAT many visas in one month!

MAWIN Lita how you do,

I know about the Consular office in Mobay. The only thing dat good fah, is if you a U.S. citizen and you get in some sort of trouble or something of the sort of if you lose your passport or travel documents. An police officer searched our car in Montego Bay and well, somethings were missing and my friends were very upset and we got into it with him and the officer arrested a male friend (US citizen) without cause, who was traveling with us. He said he tried to hit him, which was not true. We called the embassy in Kingston and someone from Montego Bay came to the station and he was released. The officer was out of line. I don't know about you ladies, but I feel that as a JAMAICAN that has been naturalized (I get treated differently). Especially, when I return and have to go through customs. Last year I traveled 8 times to Jamaica and each time I was drilled at immigration when I got to the island and when I returned to Baltimore.

COULD BE, I look like a jamaican, and when they see in my passport that I'm from england, they ask are any of your parents jamaican. I always say NO.

From the USCIS web site........
A foreigner may enter the US on a different type of visa, and then get married. However, the laws on temporary visitation are clear that the purpose of the visit must be honest. If someone has this intention to marry a US citizen when they first enter the US as a visitor (e.g. on a tourist or student visa) and then plan to remain in the US to live and work, they can be denied admission if immigration finds out that they had concealed this intention at the time of admission. This requires the "tourist" to be quite covert about their intentions, hiding things like engagement rings, photos of the couple together, and large amounts of personal belongings that might signify an interest in moving permanently to the US. It is important for the applicant to keep a clear intention when entering the US on any visa: are they entering to work, to study, to visit as a tourist, to do missionary work, or to immigrate (which is the only status that seems to include everything). Behavior that mixes these codified intents is, at best, frowned upon by immigration, and at worst might ultimately result in denial of visa, entry, adjustment of status, and possible deportation of the foreign national, even after a couple is legally married. They must maintain good records of their relationship and eligibility and show the government no cause whatsoever to believe that the fiancé(e) is not eligible for permanent residency

So if I've read the above correctly, he should not enter on the visa and stay, but he can come and visit.

In theory, Jengs, yes. But, I have read of many with valid visitor's visa being turned away at the POE for lack of ties to their home country due to filing the K visa.
I cannot tell you how much I feel I need to warn you about not doing what you asked about. From all I have read, it is almost overwhelmingly bad news in the end. I would not wish that heartache on anyone.

So at the POE, they can tell that the person has a k-visa filed, wouldn't the vistor have to volunteer that info?

QUOTE (Supermambo @ May 9 2008, 04:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am filling the i-130, but do not know what to fill on the "Naturalization. Give certificate number and date and place of issuance" once I do not have this document anymore. I became natural of the United States during my teens - a long time ago. I am aware that I can get a copy from the USCIS, but it may take up to a whole year.
Can I use a copy of my passport instead? And what do I write on that field?
Has anyone gone through this process?
Thanks,

You can use copy of passport and you can also submitt the form used to replace the certificate as proof as to submit for the i-130, it has to be stamped by an immigration officer and a reciept for the payment attached to the form. . You don't have to wait until you actually get the replacement certificate to file.

p.s. don't be like me and go thru all the above and never actually file the form. i went to immigration they stamped the form, I paid the fee and they gave me a reciept that was stapled to the form, I belive the receipt has the naturalization number on it. and THEN TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T ACCEPT THE FORM FROM ME. I HAD TO GO OUTSIDE AND MAIL IT TO THE SAME BUILDING I WAS STANDING IN. Only in america.

I have a lot of friends that have tourist visa, but it was like pulling out ALL your teeth to get one. What they had going for them was EXTREMELY and I mean EXTREMELY STRONG TIES TO JAMAICA. For example, house, kids, A DAMN GOOD JOB, bank accounts, FEW family in the states, other property, did I mention bank accounts (with loot) and a DAMN good job. It's possible, but it's not an easy task.

Hope it works out for the both of you.

I went to bed real late last night and just can't sleep. I have to work tonight and mymind is roving all over the place. I need to sleep or else I am going to be a wreck tonight...help...

Morning Claire;

Actually, I haven't been to sleep at all. My son's dad took him from my sister yesterday while my son was in the park playing with his cousins and refused to bring him back until the police tracked him down this morning and told him to hand him over or get LOCKED up. Girl, I'm so sick of this and everything else. I just want to curl up in a fetal position and sleep for a few days. My brain is beyond tired. I'm an emotional train WRECK right now. I know all I can do is pray and ask for strength and guidance...but I feel so weak right now.

Girl, what the heck is going on in your life??? mad.gif You are being hit from left, right, front and center. mad.gif A black cloud is hovering over you right now but the "sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun" Me singing in a high pitched voice.. laughing.gif laughing.gif Just trying to cheer you up right now because my hands feel tied. I don't know what to say to help you feel better. Just when you thought you have hit the jackpot by marrying your best friend, the devil comes along and wreck havoc in your life. mad.gif

I hope you took a couple days off from work to deal with all these adversities that you are being faced with right now. You don't need to have to deal with your insensitive co-workers. You know we all have you in our thoughts and prayers. heart.gif rose.gif

Thanks Claire;

I'm going to try and eat something then go for a walk. I haven't eaten in two days and it's starting to show. When I eat my stomach gets upset.

So is it time for a restraining order yet???? does he have any idea of the stress he put u thru yesterday...how does Marcel deal with his antics....cause it's hard for them when they see us going thru stuff...

Hey Guys,

I got some very sad news from Lawny today.

Marcel's Mom passed away eithr yesterday or today. She is trying to find out if there is ANYWAY possible for him to go home to JA to attend the funeral and not have to go through the initial process of having to file a K3 or IR/CR again!

Bwoy, I really feel it for them. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep them in your prayers today and going forward. If anyone knows of any route they may be able to go please post and let her know.

I told her to call the 202# tomorrow and if that does not work the Dept. of Homeland Security or/and the State Dept. Someone has to have a heart to at least hear her out!

I know we all believe in the power of prayer...and I know we all know ANYTHING & EVERYTHING is possible through the Lord. So please keep Lawny & Marcel in your thoughts and prayers.

Blessed love,
Gill

Ooh no, that is a tragedy...I think you gave her the best advice to call the #202 number i belive i read on other vj forums of some sort of expedited advance parole...i'll try and find out over on the K1 forum.

Gill, these are the two things i was able to find on VJ regarding deaths in the family without AP, hope this helps somewhat.

Info Pass appointment for the AP, they will issue AP in cases of emergency.

http://infopass.uscis.gov/

and this was part of a post of someone else who had a death, last year, so im pasting it as well:

You will need to take proof of the death with you to the infopass appointment.... I am sorry for your wife's loss but please do not let her leave the US without the AP or she will not be allowed back in....

You can not send it to her... because if the date she left is before the date of approval then she will have abandoned her AOS and you would have to file for a K3/CR1 and she would have to wait for that to be approved before she could return home to the US....

Honey

Just wondering if anyone has processed a K3 spouse visa at the US consulate in Rio lately.
My case(I129F) was forwarded down there last friday so it should be there or arriving shortly.
I want to be prepared with all of the necessary documents ASAP, so I'm wondering if anyone has an up to date list of docs.
I have found the list on the consulate website but I would prefer to hear from someone who has actually been through the interview.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks to all of you.

Hi Jonbless!

I am so happy, now I can finally help you! It feels great to be approved and worry about the final documents, doesn't it?

Well, what I needed to gather

- 1 form DS 230 (part I only)
- 2x form DS 156
- 1 form DS 157
- K3 visa fee (US$ 131,00)
- 2 pictures 5x7 with the ears showing
- Affidavit of support (I134)
- Marriage certificate and copy
- Birth certificate and copy
- medical exam (sealed)
- background clearance (secretaria de segurança pública)
- background clearence (polícia federal)

They should be in this order for the interview:

1. Taxa do Citibank
2. 2 fotos de frente (com as orelhas aparecendo e com seu nome atrás)
3. Passaporte (atual e todos os outros que você já teve com visto de entrada nos eua)
4. Form DS-230 part 1
5. Dois forms DS-156
6. Form DS.157
7. Certidão de Nascimento E CÓPIA
8. Certidão de Casamento E CÓPIA (se aplicável)
9. Certidão de Divórcio E CÓPIA (se aplicável)
10. Certidão de Óbito E CÓPIA (se aplicável)
11. Serviço militar E CÓPIA (se aplicável)
12. Atestado de Bons Antecedentes E CÓPIA (Secretaria de Segurança Pública)
13. Atestado de Bons Antecendentes E CÓPIA (Polícia Federal)
14. Exame Médico (lacrado)
15. Suporte Financeiro
- Form I-134
- 3 ultimos impostos de renda federais
- prova do emprego atual
- prova da cidadania Americana (cert. nasc.)

Please note that there are a lot of doctors in Rio de Janeiro. Your wife will need to take a lot of vaccines (many she can take at public health centers). The doctor will let her know which vaccines she needs depending on her age and background. The doctor will also ask for a chest x-ray and blood test (to see if she has aids or sifilis). Once she has everything the doctor requested, she will have to go back to the doctor. Then he will give her a sealed envelope.

Police background clearences should be requested right now. They might take some time to get done. I also know that people who have lived in Rio need to get a special certificate.

Everything needs to have its original and a copy in the back. The fee can be paid at any Citibank. It cannot be paid at the consulate though. The forms can be downloaded at the Embassy website, but I guess you know that.

Make sure your wife's pictures have her ears showing = A LOT. If they think the ears are not visible enough, they will ask her to re-do them.

Hummm... I guess this is it. That's what I had...

IF you want, I can't send you the packet 3 with all Brazilian Embassy Information to your email. Or maybe attach here later on, since I am at home and the file is at work.

jonbless, count on me if you need anything, ok? I am here to help you and now try to speed up your process.

DO you know when your case arrived at NVC? Do you know when it left NVC?

Boa sorte!

Renata

Valeu Renata!!

There comes a time in every woman's life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstance, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or not at whom made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her glory and imperfection.

Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life? Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mistake, take a closer look. A woman who has endured the most unusual life is someone of wisdom, someone who has been chosen by God to go through things that have made her stronger.

Think of all the great women in the bible: Mary Magdalene, Ruth and Naomi, the woman with an issue of blood flow, and Esther, to name a few. Mary was a prostitute, a very uneasy woman. But by the time Jesus was done with her, she was His closest follower. Esther was unfortunate in marrying an abusive man, but by the time God was done with her, she had married one of the wealthiest men in the land.

Women are so quick to beat the next one down instead of trying to hold her up. Before you wonder, "What's up with her?" ask yourself, "What's up with me?" That woman could be my mother, sister, aunt, in-law, stepmother, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend, or co-worker, etc. That woman could be me. Women are the carriers of life, not the channels of death. Let's build and encourage each other, as did Ruth and Naomi.

Pass this to all the women in your life. Encourage and Love, Forgive and Forget, and trust that the woman that receives this will be touched in some way.

May peace and love be upon you.

Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, but FAITH looks up

I really hope no matter who becomes President that Healthcare becomes a priority.

i hope so too....
i will probably be boring people with this info but....just to go to the hospital i will have to pay 1,000...that is just for the hospital.....then for the group that i am going through it is like 2,300...and that is for a natural birth if i need a c-section i can add on about 500 more....that doesn't include blood work, ultrasounds or any other test that i may need....looking at all these numbers just makes me crazy....

That is crazy and doesn't make sense. New york state has a medicaid program for pregnant women. Do a search on your state.

Irie cat - thanks for the link. Children should not be un-insured. I belive your state should have offered you a sliding scale based program for your daughter.

Gill - No problem anytime u want the soapbox - its yours for the taking. Just let me know and next time I wil dust it off for you.

Hang in there, Claire. Hopefully, it's a small issue and quickly resolved.

NKOTB......I forgot all about Donny Walberg being in that group. Wonder if they are all coming back? Didn't one of them suffer horrible panic attacks?

according to the article i read they were all going to reunite and go on tour...when that will be i don't know....but i think that would make for a interesting concert biggrin.gif

I went back and researched a bit. What are you dissing Donny for? I used to drool over him in Boomtown.

Donny, Ugh...he used to wear white jean suits and think he was so cool, now his brother Mark.....I drool over him, I used and I still do, remember when his group Marky Mark and the funky bunch..and remember his abs....
