city island??!!! Another thing to put on the todo list.

My friends band plays there all the time - it's a nice place, although their bartender sucks - They have a really really good rasta pasta dish, and several other things - The other one is on Clarendon Ave.

I heard the one on Clarendon has a good bar scene on Wednesday nights, I will have to check it out or should I say we will have to check it out.

Gill, you are not wrong at all - it's not like you are single, have no kids, etc.... I would tell the guy that if he wants to pay for the babysitter, you will take her shopping!

Okay, now I would be FLIPPING - If the case was heard, there should be a transcript or judge's notes confirming what happened - That lawyer better get their butts to the courthouse and find it - I would be getting my fees back. The lawyer should have copies of everything - no excuse for them not having it.

just got off the phone, they lawyer said they have copies, his staff said they didn't have copies, he wants a copy of the wedding contract so he can expedite the process. He also said it was strange that the court lost the case. Jengs....funny about Red Lobster. Andre insisted we go there when he first got here. Said he saw commercials all the time and he just had to try it. I tried to warn him that since we live in Missouri, it isn't like we have easy access to fresh ocean fish. The first time, he loved it. The second time, he swears they tried to poison him. He refuses to go back. Luckily, he's hooked on catfish now, which is readily available as a fresh fish of Missouri.

Help - So the Supreme Court in Kingston has managed to lose a divorce file for six months, the divorce should have been final three months ago. When we call we get "no man di case no lost, mi just don't know who have it" does anyone have any advice on what to do. We are getting this from court and the lawyer's office. Now there is a wedding scheduled in two and a half months that might not happen. The court told me to have the lawyer go to the court to inquire about the file. I don't this is necessary as both parties the lawyers office and the court no the file is lost. Everyone is so hands off its not even funny.

Sorry to hear that - Here is a link to the Supreme Court website:
http://www.sc.gov.jm/

The lawyers should have copies of everything to date - can't they take it to the court and re-create the file? It seems like they should be able to go back to one of the judges who signed the Decree and get it expedited. They have to sign a Decree Nisi first, then 6 weeks later that can become final in a Decree Absolute.

(I have been spending ALOT of time researching this issue whistling.gif )

hi ladies,

I just want to say thanks for being so helpful throughout this process. I really appreciate the advice I have received here.
But it seems my journey is ending... I am devastated. I don't know what I am going to do. I was in the hospital last night from bad false contractions.

Thanks again for your help. Good luck to you on the rest of your process.

Michelle

Happy Friday the 13th devil.gif Woo-ha-ha-ahhhhh.

Girl, it is truly Friday the 13th here. I live in DC and we had two fires in the Metro system that shut down a few stations for a few hours; a downtown power outage that knocked out traffic lights and traffic was a mess; three people were struck by cars because the traffic patterns were all messed up. All of this during morning rush hour. I was so tempted to turn back around and head home to curl up under the covers.

I work downtown and it has been a living nightmare today. All I want to do is go home, lock my door, have a bottle of wine, and not speak, see, or hear from anyone today. Tomorrow might be a better day.

Be Bless
Roxcie

I can only imagine what the afternoon rush hour will be like today wacko.gif

I know, I don't know if I want to leave now or wait until 6:00 to night. This is been a crazy weird day. tongue_ss.gif

yeah i was late for work, hopped on a train, and a lady walked off the train and collasped (sp) on the train platform.

So, my rant for the day - DJ's son is 5 1/2, and DJ has had custody of him since he was a baby - no one had seen the mother in years, and she hadn't been to see him, no one knew where she was - DJ's Mom has had him, because with his work it was too hard to have a stable home for a little boy - The mother showed up at school and took him, and the school let her take him, so now no one knows where he is. The police are saying they can't do anything because it's his mother. How in the HELL are you going to let anyone take a child, regardless of whether she says she is his mother or not, when you have never met the woman, and know that he doesn't live with her? Why didn't the school at least call someone before they let her take off with him?

fi real, I could say i was the little boy's mother and they would let me walk away with him??? Some one at the school needs a box!! DJ must be going thru a very rough time right now.

We are forever searching for something to combat the hair bumps. Nothing works for very long.

He doesn't shave with a razor right? Just the clippers? Hmmm...I know this is a hard one, but its fixable he just literally has to treat his face the way we treat the...pum.haha I know that sounds crazy but its the truth.
  1. He cannot shave with a razor for one....if he does he needs to exfoliate his face everyday. I suggest Apricot scrub.
  2. Also try a hair conditioner as mix with his shave cream...I reccommend Motions.
  3. Get an exfiliating brush...they sell good ones at Body Shop and brush the scalp and face.
  4. Always moisturize the face with a face cream. The scalp should be fine with the conditioner ,and then like a baby oil gel every now and then...trust me his skin will likely soak it up in a couple hours
After awhile his skin will become softer and more conditioned which eliminates the breeding ground of bumps. Now if he already has bad skin scars from the bumps you may have a bigger problem....and I am not really sure how to go about that.

Have you tried Tend Skin? Its a bit pricey...$20 for a small bottle but it really works. I buy it online but you can find at most high end salons...

my son's father is a barber and he swears by the Tend Skin

Good evening ladies...

Tierra met Louis when I did. When Louis would come to my apartment and hang out we spent the evenings talking but we made sure Tierra was alseep before he came over. We would sit on the balcony for hours! Then a few weeks later we all started hanging out together. She LOVES Louis. Actually said more than me .. but only cause "I am old and Louis is new"... Tierra had never met a boyfriend of mine before. I was lucky and things fell into place with Louis. Louis also took being in her life very seriously. He knew if he was going to hang with both of us he better be committed.

Tierra's father didnt want me to take her to St Lucia either.. but the judge busted him and realized his jealousy. She said it would be a wonderful experience for Tierra and she new I wasn't trying to steal her from him... mind you Tierra wasn't having any visitation with him at the time and he never paid me a dime. (I can actually count the $$ he has given me on my fingers).

.... my experience

Thanks girl..isn't it funny how thos daddy's can pop in and out when its convenient..the nerve to object to babygirl going to St Lucia when u ain't even contributed for her trip to the dentist!!!!!!!!!

I have a younger daughter too.. she is like a firecracker..She NEVER meets a stranger and gets along w/ EVERYBODY.. I too thought it a good idea only to introduce my girls to men that would be for the most part long term fixtures in their lives..

Man, i hear this all the time...bout the father causing all these issues after he wasn't even really around. I told my youneger sis who's due this month to NOT let the father put his name on the BC. You think thats a good idea? The boy is borderline trife so I am trying to set her up best way I can. Her baby is taking HER name, not the fathers and if she want child support I told her to just have him do a DNA test, but as far as the BC....keep his name off of it.

suggest she not put his name on it in the hospital, he can add it later on and she doesn't have to return the first certificate from the hospital, she can then use that for the passport.

ugh, i paid 4.17 on sat. and I don't even use my car that much, i feel for the people who drive to work every day. I put in $15.00 and qot a quarter of a tank. where before i used to get almost half a tank, so does that mean i only do quarter of my errands.??? this is going to effect recreational events for the summer. It's a mess.

You should fill up your tank (when economically possible), cause when you only add in 1/4 or 1/2 you burn your gas at a faster rate then had you filled it up. Something to do with the air to liguid ratio and movement in the tank.

I only fill it up when I go to new jersey, since the gas is much cheaper over there.

Airline Stewarts must be tipped
Pay to change flight time/date

Please feel free to add to this list if you think I have miss something

Roxcie

tell me about it, i just had to pay for luggage for someone to come from jamaica on spirit because it was cheaper if it was done over the internet before the flight, i paid for the luggage and they still charged the person when they went to the airport and then of course this spirit, so they had to conect thru Fort Lauderdale and spirit tried charging them again!! I guess the charge was for the "next segment" of the flight. What a rip off!!

We've reached another milestone in the adjustment process in this life we call the American way. After months of hubby working odd end jobs while searching for the right one, he has finally found a good job and got his first "real" paycheck. As hubby has been working, I knew in his mind he was calculating what his check was gonna be all the while I'm teaching him about what his employer was going to take out for taxes, and social security, and medicare from his check. When payday finally came, all I could do was chuckle as hubby sat in disbelief when he realized what uncle sam was really taking from him, as if I never tried to tell him. Hubby was asking all kinds of questions like why do I have to pay this...and pay that??? My brother was over at the time and he said to him "Welcome to America.....the only thing that is for certain in this country is death and taxes". ....ain't that the truth.

Thats funny. have you seen the taxes coming out of the average worker in Jamaica?! Its WAAAYYY higher than ours over here. You think about it...you make around $100US a week and the taxes and fees are around 35%! Now that is crazy. If you are in a high tax bracket you're ususally taxed around 25%. When I say taxes, I mean federal and state taxes. The other fees like medicare, SS those are something else, cause you're "supposed" to be able to get that money back.

Really? Where's all this money going?

let mi express my ignorance also, I never knew they took out taxes with the way the infrastructure is so in need of help. I also wonder where this money is going?

I understand kimmy.. Its not something I would say I am proud of, but in instances where I have to deal w/ people of my color, I tend to expect a lil more confrontation or aggression cuz i know "us". Not saying that is everybody and that Black Americans don't know how to act. Everybody's background and upbringing is different and I know every race or culture have rude individuals. All that is true, but like u say that is another form of racism I know I have and ALOT of people I know do too. I don't treat anybody any different, but in the back of my mind I have already expected the communication to go a certain way.. If it doesn't that is great, but if it does, I am not surprised.

Exactly Quana....

At Sandcastles last year, we were put in a room with no hot water...the whole block had no hot water and technically wasn't open to guests. the receptionist was very nice to me until she saw mr jengles, she told him to go back to his bus and i'm like he's my husband and he's checking in with me. she get vex, didn't tell us anything not even the fact that breakfast was included in our package. It took them two days to get us out of that room and of course we got upgraded on the food part.

At the RIU we asked one of mr jengles co-workers about a tour she said she couldn't book any. maybe some of them are envious (sp) they work in these places and can't afford to stay there, and maybe they can accept that americans can stay there, but not Jamaicans. For the most part when I've stayed at hotels. I've never really encountered any loud locals, they are ususally more reserved. it's the Americans..who are loud as all hell

Does Marcel still work at HI? If not, who knows someone that works at Holiday Inn Sunspree in Mo Bay?

I heard rumor all employees got letters stating their services are no longer needed. Andre's mom said she heard they were picketing in front of the hotel in protest and blocking all guests from entering and exiting. She said they called in the police.

Only problem I have with that story is if they fired all the employees, how did they have guests at all? I am thinking maybe they got letters stating WHEN their services would no longer be needed and it coincides with what I heard before.

Anyhow, I need some confirmation and we can't get a hold of Richard. Anyone know anything?

link:
Holiday Inn sends 60 workers on Permanent Holiday

So the holiday Inn was sold to the owners of the Sunset Chain?? When you follow the link above there is a poll asking if local laws should be relaxed to allow foreign investment as the RIU 78% of voters said no and over 2000 people voted, interesting.

Yes.

The RIU got a really bad review in the Gleaner today from a man who had a really bad experience.

Interesting JG -- Please send me the link. I was asked to do a write up on the RIU since I've stayed at all of them in Jamaica. I'm participating the next few weeks on a panel in New York. It's really to see how returning (Jamaicans) are treated at the resorts. I can't wait.

Does anyone know what countries a Jamaican citizen can travel to without a travel visa? I think Cayman is one, but are there others?

Without a visa, Jamaican nationals can actually travel to many countries. Places where a Jamaican national may visit for an unlimited time without a visa would be: Antiga, Barbuda, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cyprus, Dominca, Fiji, Gambia, Great Britain, Grendada, Haiti, Honduras, Ireland, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Peru, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Surinam, Swaziland, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 6 month visit to: Barbados.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 3 month visit to: Bermuda, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino, South Korea, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 1 month visit to: Argentina, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Monaco, Papua New Guinea, Uruguay.

Jamaicans may travel without a visa but are limited to no more than a 2 week visit to: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, St. Maarten.

I would like to share a word of warning about Jamaicans traveling without a visa - from my one experience. Apparently it is also very common for Jamaicans to go to Panama for shopping and what not. Anywho, in 2005 I went on a trip with a group of friends to Belize and had the mister join me there. The flight was half the battle as he left Kingston and went to Haiti, Caymans then Panama (or some such combination - it didn't make any sense). He got to Panama with no trouble but leaving Panama for Belize proved to be quite the issue. They didn't want to let him leave the country. He was stuck there for three days, wasting all his travel money there on hotel, taxi and food before he was finally "allowed" to leave Panama for Belize City. Even once he got to Belize City they didn't want to let him leave for San Pedro Island where our group was staying. At least the owner of the house we were renting knew someone in immigration and convinced them that the mister would be returning to Jamaica. It was very kind of the man to give his guarantee. My man did finally make it but wasted alot of time and money to get to Belize. Just a word of warning.

they didn't want him to leave the country or let him in country. Normally they let you out no problem.

So the holiday Inn was sold to the owners of the Sunset Chain?? When you follow the link above there is a poll asking if local laws should be relaxed to allow foreign investment as the RIU 78% of voters said no and over 2000 people voted, interesting.

Hi ladies, hope you had a great weekend.

offtopic45vn.gif I am going down to Negril June 4-8 and my SO is booking our hotel. We were thinking of staying at Rondel Village cause I always thought it looked nice and its at a good location but I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed there??
He wanted to book a gardenside room but not only was the receptionist rude (according to him) but she said the garden side is under construction so only beachfront rooms are available. Has anyone heard of this?

Also can anyone recommend somewhere else in the middle of the beach with similar amenities and also local-friendly?

Thanks!

Hey Mommy --

Me and AW stayed at Rondel in January. It was OK, the rooms are big and clean, but the staff did leave a little to be desired. The location is great -- right in the heart of 7 mile. You may also want to check out Country Country -- just stayed there in April for my birthday celebration and had a blast. The staff is very accomodating and welcoming. Good luck and have fun!

Funny story about Rondell Village-- we were driving up to Negril after AW picked me up from the airport and he asked me to call the hotel since we were so late to make sure the were holding the room and also to ask about their location. So I called and we both spoke to the receptionist who gave AW directions on where the hotel was located in Negril. AW thanked the woman and we were on a merry way to Negril. When we get to the hotel we go to the front desk and a guy comes from the back to check us in -- he had the highest pitched and femine voice I've ever heard on a man. So the woman we thought we were talking to on the phone was actually a guy. The look on AW's face was priceless blink.gif -- he looked at me and walked out the front door shaking his head. You know how our Jamaican men can be about men acting feminine. Needless to say I had to check us in and deal with the front desk receptionist for our entire trip -- AW REFUSED to step foot in the recption area all weekend.

You just made me snort. lol blush.gif
