Rhonda,

It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I loved my room. you can open your balcony door and it has a screen door. The balconies are PRIVATE devil.gif (if you know what I mean). From our room we could see the ocean and the pool. It was so beautiful. Let me tell you, if you're on a DIET FORGET IT! I've never ATE and drank so much in my life. Even when we on the beach as soon as I finished my glass, they were filling it up. The place is HUGE and it kind of takes away from it. Entertaintment is okay, but I was quickly bored. I think it's because I'm a born Jamaican, so I had to go into Ochi for fun. But I would recommend it, although it's $$$$$$ it's worth every penny. I can't wait for them to building the one in Mobay. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you some pictures of the RIU.

That's awesome about the screen doors! I love to have the fresh breeze, but I hate the mosquitos! And since the malaria outbreak in Kingston, I'm really worried about mosquitos now unsure.gif

I sent you a PM. I'm mostly wondering about what type of room to book, is the resort child-friendly, and is it hard to get around - it looks sooooo huge in the pics!

Hey, Rhonda....

Have you ever looked into FDR & FDR Pebbles? They have a nanny assigned to every room with children, included in the cost of the room. We stayed in Pebbles when my kids were smaller. My youngest had the nanny for her stay. They did all kinds of kid-friendly stuff and had exclusive areas for the different age groups. There is a youth coordinator for the older kiddies.

I loved the freedom during the day to do what I liked without worrying about them. And, you could pay her extra to stay into the night if you wished.

It was small enough to get to know pretty much everyone in the resort, big enough for plenty of stuff to do, and they had some great off-site excursions planned.

I stayed at pebbles, the rooms are NICE you get a two room suite and we had two nanny's one for the girls and one for my son. it was great, the staff were very good with the kids. we didn't like the food, but wasn't sure if it wasn't because it was October and it was off season why the food was so bad. it's in trelawny i belive, wanted to try the one in runaway bay, but we never got around to it.

Happy Birthday to your hubby! kicking.gif Dinner out is always nice...maybe a movie if he likes that.

I think you are suppose to start at age 40 as the general rule of thumb and then earlier if there is a history of breast cancer in your family or you find something abnormal. I agree she looks so young...I wouldn't have guessed.

Not sure of my Friday plans...we got all this unexpected snow so it changes everything. Probably just work and then home to do laundry and chill. Wanted to catch a movie tonight but don't want to be out on icy roads if it isn't necessary.

Alright yaardies...Question 4 u:
For all of us who are farrin...how did you learn to chat patwah? I know when I first met my husband, it was sooo difficult for me to understand him because (1) he talked too fast, and (2) because alot of patwah (to me) goes against everything that I have learned phonetically and grammatically. I've clearly gotten better at understanding what he is saying and can understand most conversations that he and his friends/family are having (and when I don't he kindly helps me out), and now I am much more interested in learning how to chat. I think it is going to be especially important for him to preserve this part of his heritage, and to pass this part along to our children (one day far far far into the future! laughing.gif laughing.gif ) I have to think really hard b4 I speak in patois, and he works with me on phrases and their meanings, but I wanna know how long does it really take? Are there any videos out there? May be someone on the thread can put one 2gether and market it...I know I would definately buy it...

smile.gif sorry wish i could help..bawn Yardie...but mor time mi husband tell mi dat is not patwah..yuh mek it sound too nice..but mi just look pon him like him mad !..it just takes time, patience and practice...don't be shy and don't think ppl will be making fun of you..u'll get it..Look at Yardiewife..more time i forget she is not a born Jamaican..just gotta do it..u can try watching the stage plays and stuff like that....mi no know nuttin mi just love chat smile.gif

Ken, said that KJ's Mama is going to have to tek care of the Passport (I don't think that's the best idea)..but if not the consulate did say we could apply for it via them. I told Ken to take KJ to get pictures before he leaves (cause G-d help us if the consulate has a problem with his pics).

I am going to file for Advance Parole so we(or at least Ken) can take KJ for his Embassy interview. I don't trust that Mama as far as I can throw her! The other day she asked Ken how long before KJ can file for her ... blink.gif wacko.gif ohmy.gif ...Em knoa not tuh even ask mi that...he just told her ..."A WHILE!!!!" Then she told em to look a nice boyfriend for har when he comes hup! ohmy.gif #######!?!?!?!
I am going to get going on this ASAP...cause I knoa Ken...he will be miserable without our likkle face-ty KJ here!

Thanks for asking.

Gill

Gill about AP....i think you can only file for that when you send off you AOS packet...it is included in the fee that you pay....but I think you can't send it off ahead of time it has to all be sent in together....

Yep that is the way it is now. I am pretty sure you can't file separate anymore.

check and see

***update on my cousin's ex fiance

That dumb A$$ got married March 16th at the Ritz Carlton in Mobay. I'm wondering how long he knew this woman. My fiance has a lot of friends that works at the Ritz Carlton and they told my fiance that the wedding was a nice size. Last Saturday Marcel and the same friends that worked at the Rizt went to a dance in Mobay and saw him all over these woman (they looked like spring breakers). What a DOG! All I can say is that poor woman he just married. My cousin has since moved on. He's still calling my cousin and telling her he don't need her for nothing. Dumb A$$, I know I'm going to run into him next month and I can't wait.

Kimmy u mad...always a mek mi laugh. I'm sorry, but of all the places in my house that has to be clean it's my bathroom and let me tell ya'll, when I was dating back in the day, if I go to the guys house and his bathroom is nasty guess WHAT...im naw touch dis yah glory. Oh, hell no. And my grandmother would always tell me to check out his bedsheets to see how clean they are. I can't stand a NASTY unkempt man. Like some men think it's okay to use their woman's toothbrush...I will kick your A$$ and don't use my TOWEL.

Since we on the subject, kitchens. Some men (not all) like to cook, but refuse to clean the kitchen. When I cook and clean the kitchen at the same time. And if you're going to clean the kitchen sweep the damn floor or wipe it if it needs to be wiped. The floor is party of the kitchen and it needs to be clean too.

Next thing...you have got to separate your laundry. Don't put the entire basket of clothing into the machine OMG plus towels and bedsheets the machine will be unbalanced when it spin and the clothes won't was good. I mean u use to wash it by hand so wah you a complain fah now. mad.gif

and THIS DOES IT FOR ME

Don't use my DAMN deodorant or PERFUME a tell me seh you wah SMELL SWEET TUH!

rofl.gif rofl.gif that is SO funny....mike did that sometimes....the first time he did that i looked at him like he has lost his freaking mind....

Ray did that too. I guess they all are alike in some ways. When he sprayed on my Victoria Secret body spray, I looked at him and said "Are you a batty bwoy" Don't spray that on you.... That's for women.

Girl, they don't care. all I hear is....BUT IT SMELL SWEET! On my last trip, his friends used my escada perfume and I almost fainted in the car. I wanted to ring Marcel's neck. They sprayed it everywhere. mad.gif

I know that girl.... Crazy huh. I got Ray some of that AXE body wash and spray and he used just about all of it in a week. I was this stuff isn't cheap you know. If he's going to be using it that, it need to switch to the Old Spice bobdy spray. LMAO laughing.gif

I can relate..imagine being in J.a. and all of a sudden your smelling your Warm Vanilla Sugar from bath and body works and it's not coming from you!!

Lawny,

Sus - seems to have more to choose from. I only saw Coral Beach and make sure she request the beach because they have the Gardens accross the street. They looked like bungalows. give her the websites and let her choose.

Girl, they just don't know. I tell my people AMERICA is not JOKE! It no EASY! But, you have to be willing to try. My fiance had no INTENTIONS at all to ever come here, but it just happened that we ran into each other and fell in love. We discussed the adjustment process a lot, but I told him, he won't know until he gets here and starts working and gets into the American way of life. I told him, if it's too much for him to handle I'll go back with him. It's easy for me to say that, because that's been my plan for many years.

I'm glad we are on the adjustment topic - that's my biggest worry about Anthony. We have spent countless hours on the phone talking about it and I'm trying to explain to him the differences in US and JA, especially because of the "bush" I live in. He doesn't quite understand there is no bus or taxi to hop on. Even my daughter (who just turned 6) is worried that he will come with his shorts on when we still have snow!! But so far he has the right attitude about it, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. But I will galdly take any suggestions you gals through at me......

it all comes down to when he gets here...everything will seem "OK" until the 1st day u leave him alone in the house and go to work..try to find something in ur area he can do...something to keep him occipied until he starts working

Thanks Kimmy......and the "honey-do" list is already started. good.gif

what part of JA does he live...?

don't mek him feel like you a try turn him inna house-man... whistling.gif

Grew up in Clarendon, but has lived in Kingston for past 2 years.

And I'm saving him all the "manly" jobs to do.

Yup that worked and mi have a whole next set, here fi him to start working on
