Middle East and North AfricaDoes your MENA SO have children?
but she does go on to "address the subject" and states that in her post.

anyway, to me it seems to me that the response is seperated into 2 camps. Those whose SO's have kids and those whose SO's don't have kids.

It is quite easy to make blanket statements when you yourself are not in that situation and good for you if your SO doesn't have kids, but what about those who do? a little tact goes a long way.

Middle East and North AfricaDoes your MENA SO have children?
QUOTE (JODO @ Dec 6 2007, 07:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I would not at all feel comfortable if my husband had a child/children and he left them behind to come to the US with me. Either as a good father he would need to find a way to bring them to the US with him at the same time , or I would probably have to pass on the relationship.

Huh, so as a good father he should bring them into an unknown environment, where he has no job and maybe his wife doesn't have the living space, or maybe the money to support everyone. or should he come adjust to American, get a job and then get his kids..new SO and kids at the same time is a HUGE HUGEadjustment.

and since when is leaving kids in another country abandoning them?? Now if SO comes and doesn't look back then yes that is abandonment but that is asuming that SO was super involved in home country in the first place.

I felt the same way too but I did it all by myself , just follow the instructions and send it out , wait for your NOA 1 and NOA 2 once thats done you will be a pro by then no need to get any lawyers ok

Its a waste of money that you can use on the other stuff that they charge for like the medical and so on which is a whole lot ...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032

Hi All,

I have a quick question. My cas is at the NVC stage and I am little confused about DS-3032. Can I email DS-3032 or I can't?

Thanks in advance :)

You can send it in . I did it right away becaouse it takes like 2 weeks to process , however if they dont accept it right away lioke after 5 o 6 days then just re send the email and put SUPERVISOR REVIEW .

it worked for me ! good luck on your NVC stage journey !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTax Transcript or 1040 EZ or Both.

Hello Everyone,

At the NVC stage, do we need to submit the IRS transcript for the previous tax returns or 1040 EZ (I always file my taxes on my own so i have 1040 EZ dating back to 2002) or both.
Also, I recently filed my 2012 tax returns, IRS received it but is still under processing so at the NVC stage and if my taxes for 2012 aren't completed by IRS how should i go about submitting the transcript; i would still have the 1040 EZ for the same tax return.

Thanks,

i sent either or,i sent the 2012 tax return original copy and the tax transcrips for the previous years

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNEW USCIS VISA IMMIGRATION FEE !

It is the green card fee that must be paid by the applicant before departure to the United States. It went into effect for immigrant visas issued on and after Feb 1 2013. Without it being paid, the GC will not be issued after they arrive. While the burden rests on the applicant, anyone can pay the fee on their behalf as long as they have the info needed like Alien number, case nunber etc.

SO I HAVE TO PAY THAT WHEN THEY SEND ME THE INFORMATION FOR THE INTERVIEW I ASSUME ?
SINCE I DON'T HAVE THE ALIEN NUMBER NOW !!

SM SORRY FOR THE QUESTIONS JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I GOT EVERYTHING SETTLED .

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long does it take to find out date of interview after case is complete?

Thank you and mannnnn this visa process is crazy! I'm sorry to hear that you still have not been given you're interview date! You would think that cr1 would be given a little more priority but i guess all we can do is call and wait.. And hope! But i am in school and me and hubby will just have to wait. Been waiting 8 months i can wait a little bit more. He is worth it! I will be praying that you get you're interview soon mama! Take care and god bless!

Likewise ! i definitely understand and thank god that you have a supportive husband that is willing to wait dancin5hr.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long does it take to find out date of interview after case is complete?

Well i know I'm getting ahead of my self but the only thing i am waiting for NVC is to review the ds-230 form and documents. AOS docs. have been accepted but yea i am hoping for A case complete this week. Well question is does anyone know how long it is taking at NVC to schedule appointments? Hubby is desperate to finally meet his newborn daughter and we really miss each other. I don't know if i should go to DR Now or wait for appt. Well any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellow VJ members! God bless!

Hey Marysabel ,

i got case complete on 4/4/2013 and am still waiting but thats for a cr1 visa , for the fiancee petitions i think its a little faster , however the cr1 interview scheduling takes about a month or so for them to give you an interview date . i have been calling almost everyday to nvC and visa specialist to find out about my interview and nothing yet so at this point i finally figured out it takes a whole month basically or maybe 2 .

So if you are doing well financially i think you should go show your princess to your man but just remember that after the case complete , he will have to do medicals , travel to santo domingo and you will have to go for the cita interview and also there's a new fee that has been implemented of 165.00 to process the green card .

that's why i haven't gone to DR since February because it's alot of money !

BTW- Congrats on your baby girl !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCivil documents to NVC already sent..then what do I bring to the interview at consulate?

Hi Everyone,

So what happens after one sends the civil documents to the NVC?

For example if I have already sent everything (all originals, translations etc. EVERYTHING an this is for my husband) to NVC is that what they sent to the consulate?

I'm confused because when I look at people's lists on here on what to bring to the consulate they all list all the civil documents again...so if the consulate already has them why would I bring them again?

Is it just in case the consulate lost them??

Anyone?

Thank you

Congrats on your NVC prosess, well i was a little confused too but everyone helped me out . basically  you have to take a copy of everything you send to NVC on the day of your interview . Also you have to bring your original marriage license and also an updated police report to the interview.

They have it but its better to have everything that to have nothing at all, so get your ppwrk ready because NVC process is pretty fast , oh yeah and once its completed in NVC do not freak out about the interview !!! you will get it !

good luck !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresKeep getting different stories on what to send with DS-230 forms

Hello!

Could someone please clarify with me if I send all the supporting documentation (police certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate, copy of passport biographic page, etc...) WITH the DS-230 to the NVC or do you take those to the interview???  I have read two different things and I don't want to screw it up.

I was under the impression I send the certified originals with the packet but make a copy of everything to take to our interview.  I only have one certified copy of each document, so I am hoping this is correct!!

And, lastly, do I send Part II of the DS-230 with the packet or take that to the interview?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!  good.gif

Send the complete packet to nvc
Birth certificate
Marrige license
Police papers

Then for your interview get a copy of each and take it w you
The police report will have to be updated for the cita

Good luck girl !!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa question
Hi-

They should have given her a piece of paper with a date for when to return to pick up the visa. If not, you will need to wait for SINA to call her. Just as an FYI, on the day she goes to pick up the visa, she should get there EARLY. I have seen people be turned away even though they were told to pick up the visa that day because SINA had already reached that day's quota for visas.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Need help on submission!

Before i start the Copy of Marriage Certificate suppose to be in the main pile, with the I-130 form,

that's a must to submit. i read a lot of people forgot to include that and receive a RFE

1 one is fine

2 submit 2 passport pictures of each of you

3 that should be fine, about the name

4 that's fine about the photo's,

5 basically when u go interview, is the time you will need most evidence to show it's a real true marriage

i filed I-130 on 4/25 i sent it out, i got approved 12/9 no RFE for me,

and all i did was send the required papers, everything you sent, EXCEPT i didn't send No Evidence of Bonafide Marriage

i didn't send nothing to show as evidence,

and i got approved.

i think you have enough stuff at this point to send in,

good luck,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTo file or not to File...

NVC will need the tax from's before you can even file for 2013 taxes, so dont worry about 2013.

I am using 2012 / 2011 / 2010 returns.

In the meantime you can call IRS or look online and request the past 3 year's Tax Transcript's they take about 2 weeks to get them and there free,

i got mine already for 2012 / 2011 / 2010 Transcripts

Kev&MandaMaleGuyana2014-01-03 13:03:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTo file or not to File...

Use the 2012 / 2011 / 2010 return's, leave 2013 returns out, because you havent filed yet, etc..

Also, you can do your taxes where ever you do them, and file married but separately, since he does have a SSN right now, and after he come's and gets a SSN you can go back and they can "Amend" your tax return, and you will get a bigger return. (that's what the tax guy told me last year when i went) ask and see what they recommend.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsorship for I-864.. HELP!!

Supply them with your tax return transcripts to show you are a lawful tax paying citizen.

No one is telling you to joint sponsor.

I would never request someone to take on that responsibility when you have the chance of being approved.

Just have someone in mind if they deny you at the interview.

They will tell you then to get another sponsor and you'll have time to do so and come back with one.

 Thank You

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsorship for I-864.. HELP!!

They will just look at you most recent income. Take a look at this link http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-864p.pdf

It's up to the discretion of your approving officer at interview.

As it's been several months since your employment, you should be good, but always have a backup plan just in case someone isn't feeling very generous.

Make sure you include a letter as to why you were not required to file taxes.

What kind of letter? I was still able to file me Tax returns but the income was not very high because i was living mostly in the Dominican Rep. and Pregnant for 10 months.

Also be sure to include an employment verfication letter, which states your currently salary, and a copy of a pay stub, just to be on the safe side.

It is up to the CO but my husband started working last year in Sept and we were okay but every case is individual as others have said.  Have a back up plan just in case.

Remember to be at the interview with your spouse, in the DR it is a requirement.

Thank you all very much for your replies. But you are all still saying that i should do a Joint Sponsorship Just in case, better safe then sorry. Do any of you know if i need their last three years as well??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about DOS role

Hey BethAnn.... first and foremost, you might be making yourself a little more anxious and alot more frustrated by calling every day esp multiple times a day. I don't believe that it takes you out of line because theyre just looking you up in their computer system. The people answering the phone very likely only see what you already know so you will keep getting the same answers. Every time someone "works" on your case, they log in the system that they have done so which often triggers an random (canned) email update, many of which dont always match the exact status of your case.

Your case appears to actually be moving very quickly. There are over 500,000 of us all over the world in the I13
line, many who have small children who have been apart for well over a year, many who have been caught up in line for so long they are struggling financially while apart. I left my husband in Japan on Feb 24 and havent seen him since.

People in VJ have been kind and helpful, but remember that this is a very small population of the 500k list; alot of really great advice and experience, but everyones case is different so how your case is processed inJamaica may not be the same as how they are processed in China, Pakistan, India, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the UK and the Philippines. All countries have specific requirements and verification of information btwn the US and the consulates may be ver different.

The best advice I've gotten from the kind folks here on VJ has been to be patient, stop watching VJ, stop watching the govt timelines, and shift your focus on how you can make your spouses transition to the US easier.

It will happen, it is already happening. Take a breath, quit beating yourself to death, try to be patient.

Hope this helps some!

Thumbs up!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMaiden Name on Forms?

Thank you NikiR -- I followed what you said and decided it was in the best interest to leave it the way it is. We came this far... dont want to mess it up! I also read on another forum, that we can simply tell the Consular Officer and they *should* be able to augment it for us. We'll try that too.

i had the same issues you had.  All my documents submitted were in my maiden as would have been expected  (BC, marriage certificate, etc), however from the
I-130 stage I started using my married name hypened with my maiden name.  On my D-230 I used my married name as well.

However the most important thing is to make sure that your passport has whatever name you wish your green card and visa to be issued in.  So even though my passport (with my maiden name only)  would not expire until 2015, a month before my interview I changed my passport to add my new name.

In Jamaica, that cost would was only  $50US   (to have it done in 14 days) a whole lot cheaper than having my green card name changed for $450.

My advice, get a new passport with your new name, to take to interview, if its cheaper than having the deal with fixing green card name.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJust got the interview letter! now what?

In responding to your "Now what",

1. I suggest you now call to schedule your medical appointment.  While it is done closer to the time of interview you want to make sure you have an appointment date secured, from now.

2. Please take additional passport size pictures  taken now , as you will need some at the medical (in Jamaica it 3) and others at the interview  (2 in Jamaica)

3. For backup purposes, I also ensured that I made a  folder with copies of everything I had sent to them at NVC.

4.  Most importantly, though is that you have convincing evidence that  spans the life of your relationship with your spouse, including your labelled photos, and call logs if they should ask about communication.  I had sent a lot of evidence to NVC, and was never asked for anything else (not even call logs), at the interview.  I was however armed with extra evidence just in case they has required such.  And remember what you wrote on the DS-230 form (tthey will ask some questions directly from it).

5.  Not too sure what it means for a PCC to be "unobtainable" in your country, so I cannot speak to that.

5. Good luck, you will probably feel nervous, but just remain calm and answer truthfully.

OK, so the next paper said all the docs my husband submitted with his visa application before with letters near it. Some letters said "The NVC did not request this form or document"
and some said "The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate"

so does that mean he doesn't have to bring these docs to the interview? no letter told us that anything was incomplete or had to be brought there. Please help
I want to make sure he brings all the right docs so that nothing goes wrong. Thanks so much in advance, my husband are are so excited but so nervous. He is very nervous
that something will go wrong at the interview and he wont have the right docs :\

I think my husband (the USC petitioner) signed both of our forms, so I am also hoping for the best.
