You are v v lucky. There are people waiting in interview queue for over 2 months in the NYC field office.

Yes, I think so, because I see some people timeline from New York and my N-400 case is being processed kind of fast to the average processing time in New York. God is good!!

Don't worry about what the system says. They are not very good about updating it. Ours never changed until the visa was approved. If the wait is more than 30 days, I would contact your congressperson/senator to have them inquire on your behalf.

I know the wait is difficult. We had to change our plans completely but in the end, it all worked out. Good luck and happy valentine's day to you too!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Result

Have any of you experienced situation like this in Havana? Our interview was on Jan 21st. We gave all completed documents and evidences nothing was missing. After the interview the only thing they can say was my fiance need to get a new police report, his report was done in August but still not expired and after they look through the documents they will call him in two weeks. At the mean time they gave us paper saying bring requested police report on 29th of Jan. My fiance went the 29th and gave a new police report, at that time they also took his passport and they gave him a paper saying he can go back on Feb 2nd to check his status, when we looked at the date on the calender, the 2nd was on Sunday and they do not even work on Sunday's so my fiance went on Monday the 3rd of Feb. At that time they gave him another paper saying he can go back Feb 12th which is today to check his status. But today they gave him back his passport and told him they will call him when the process is done. I checked the visa status, it says it is ready for interview. It has been saying that since we made appointment for interview 5 months ago. Isn't suppose to say it is under PA? although they didn't tell us it is under PA.  I do not know what it means by we will check on things and will call you in two weeks? and today they didn't say when they will call my fiance but he was told to wait till they call him. Please share your experiences if you went through the same process.

I do not see we missed anything, I think we many even gave more docs than needed. The only thing I can think of is that they might think it is wired for two people from different planets to fall in love LOL. Obviously, I'm not Cuban or Cuban origin. But, in our eyes love does not have boundaries. I wish all people get a chance to experience love so they can understand. The process has been frustrating as we both want to be together as soon as possible. I know you all VJ people understand the frustration. I appreciate if you can share your experiences in the similar situation. Thank you All

A similar thing happened to my fiance.  At the interview they told us that the visa had been approved but that they wanted him to submit his CV.  He brought the CV the next day and they told him that he could come back in a week to check the status.  When he returned a week later, they told him that the case was under review.  However, they never returned his passport to him.  The visa was finally approved about 45 days later.

My (now) husband and I agree that it's a not a good sign if they gave him back the passport.  But you  never know.  I also don't think it has anything to do with a change in officers handling the case.  Our interviewer was also training another person but I don't think that it had anything do with putting our case under administrative review/processing.

Good luck!

I tried in the past and they never answered the phone or the email. I also tried to call the Interest Section for in Washington DC for legalization of documents to be used in Cuba but, I couldn't get hold of human. If anybody know how to will be really helpful.

The Cuban Interests Section in DC has suspended consular services for the time being. So, even if you are able to get a hold of them on the phone, unfortunately, there is not much they will be able to do for you right now. You can read more about the temporary suspension of services here:

She's a US citizen, she MUST leave with a US passport. She can enter Brazil with her Trinidad passport. Return to the US with a US passport.

Wouldn't she need to show a visa to the US customs if she uses her US passport to leave for Brazil seeing that a USC need a visa to enter that country?

Hello all,

My sister is a naturalized USC and a citizen of Trinidad and has both passports.

She is planning to visit Brazil, and as a USC she needs a visa but as a Trinidadian citizen she doesn't.

If she uses her Trinidad passport to leave the US and enter Brazil will she have trouble entering the US with her US passport, seeing that there won't be a stamp in it?

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion

If I were you I would write in a sheet of paper APPROXIMATE dates and durations, in the same format as it appears in the N400. That way if the Immigration Officer still wants you to write the approximate information he won't have to tell you to come back on another date since you will be ready.

Also, technically you can do a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA) request to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. You can request for them to send you all records showing your entries and exits into the country by land, sea or air for the purposes of filling out your naturalization application. However, this is unnecessary and also too late for you anyway (they take around 30 or more business days to process it). I just write it in case someone else can use this information.

Thanks for the info.

I think my sister will have a better idea of dates since I went with her all 7 times.

Thanks again.

Your passport should have the stamps of return date to the US which should help. Just be truthful in your interview about how long each trip was. USCIS is just concerned if any trip lasted for more than 6 months.

Hi all,

I sent in my application in march and my interview is set for may 7th but the only thing im worried about is that i've been to canada maybe 7times in the last 8yrs and I did not write that down on my n400.

I didnt write it down because I cannot remember the dates and I do not want to put incorrect info.

Should I reveal this to the IO at my interview or should I just go with the flow?

Yes, you need proof of filing taxes... One of the questions on the 400 pertains directly to if you have filed taxes (or ever evaded taxes) ...

Are you sure you need to show proof?

I know it asked about filing and evading

But it doesnt state to provide proof

US Citizenship General DiscussionTravel While Waiting for Ceremony

This is my exact question as well with a caveat.... My wife was approved for her naturalization and we have a planned trip. The problem is her oath ceremony is 6 days before the trip. I see that they take her GC at the oath so is there a travel document to travel or a way to get the passport in 3 business days?

You can actually have your passport the same day. It is a bit pricey but it's not immposible.

I understand that One thing is YOU DON'T HAVE TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION, and other thing is the REPORTING on the N-400.

I'm 100% sure you should report the traffic tickets. Actually I made the mistake of not reporting them and then I found out I should have to.

No you don't.

I received several parking tickets, one $300 speeding ticket and one $80 speeding ticket and I didnt report them because I paid them off.

I'm now waiting on my oath letter.
