Thanks everyone!! Can't believe I got any work done today the way I was jumping around all excited!

So I suppose now we move on to scheduling the medicals. I'm almost afraid to ask but does anyone know how long its taking them to give out appointments? I tried going back through the thread to see if anyone who got late April interviews (like Euro and Yellow_Stars) mentioned anything about their medicals but either they didn't or I don't see it.

Also, I know there was a great post about what we needed for the medical but I can't find that either... Guess my mind is somewhere else imagine that..

As usual, any information would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks again...

Cari

I already had my medical back in November for my K3..so i got a copy of that to take to my CR1 interview!!

Oh.. thats easy... Wait I'm confused Amanda... You did a K3 AND a CR1?? Am I missing something? LOL

Yes i did both..........sent I-130 at the begining of April last year, waited waited waited then in august got fed up so hubby sent I-129F....it took 112 days from mailing to getting K3 Visa in passport!!...........so i came to Michigan in december, My I-130 was approved in October so decided to follow that rather than waiting bloody ages to AOS!! :P

AAAhhhhh so you're already in the US.. I thought you were still in England doing the CR1... Doesn't take much to confuse me tho.. LOL

We're back home from the Embassy & we are APPROVED!!!!! :)

My family is so thrilled. Now we got 3 months to pack up, sell stuff, and book our one-way flight to NJ!! (DH's job requires 3-month notice.)

There was hardly anyone waiting in line at 8:30. There were a lot of non-immigrant visa people there though but it only took us appx 1 hour. Didn't ask to see much paperwork either! All in all, it was so simple. Oohh, I *think* there was a model there getting a Visa too but I couldn't tell you who she is though but you can definitely tell she was one unless she's just some fine looking woman. Made me feel all ratty, lol.

Good luck to those with interviews coming up!!

Congratulations!!!

Cari

Ok.. I just edited my post but it never showed up... Basically I added this:

I'm not sure what part of England you are in but there is now a Springtime flight (Continental) that leaves out of Bristol and flys non-stop to Newark, New Jersey. I used it last time I flew over to visting my husband and it was pretty good... especially the price. LOL When Crash came here over Christmas he flew a KLM/Northwest flight out of Bristol that had a stop in Amerstam but then was non-stop to JFK and he got a great deal on the price for that... much better than say BA or Virgin was out of Heathrow.

Hope that helps...

Ok guys I totally need some lifting of my spirits... Not to take away anything from all you guys getting your interviews who have been right around the same timeframe as us but I'm starting to get really depressed... The waiting is making me crazy... Crash tries to calm me down and keep me relaxed but sometimes (like now) I can't help it and all I want to do is cry.. I know our time will come soon but it feels like it will never happen. Logically I realize our case is different from the rest because its not just hubby's case but my stepson's as well so it may take a bit longer for them to process but all the same I want a date!!

UGGGH... ok.. I hoped that by letting all of that out it might help me just a bit but.. no luck... and my poor hubby.. feels like theres nothing he can do to make me stop stressing... How can I not? The only thing that would help would be being in his arms...

God I hate this... Thanks for letting me ramble on and have my little breakdown...

How did you find out? i.e. did you get written instructions through the mail or did you get a reply to your email?

All my paperwork has been a week behind yours so I should find out next week!

I emailed them to ask.....................and the good thing is they have sent the papers to my Michigan address!!

CONGRATULATIONS AMANDA AND MARK!!! We are both so happy for you guys and wish you all the best of luck !

We are hoping that maybe since our case was close to yours timeline-wise we might get some good news soon. Have to ask though.. did you get the P3? or just an interview date? Cuz we still waiting on the P3 from the Embassy... I finally got an e-mail response (after 2 weeks) saying:

"The Immigrant Visa Unit can confirm receipt of the visa files in the Embassy. Your husband and step-son can expect to hear from the Immigrant Visa Unit in approximately 4 - 6 weeks regarding an appointment date for the formal visa interview."

which is a bit confusing to us.. Not sure if this means he's going to get a letter with an interview date along with the P3 or what?

No matter what we are soooooo happy for you both.. I feel like crying I'm so happy...

hugs and kisses... cari !!

Hiya
No pack 3 just the interview pack with medical info inside too!!
your petitions were complete the day before mine at NVC, you should email them on a regular (maybe every other day basis) I emailed them politley asking if they had a date scheduled yet, the replys i got were realy nice, also you can call DOS if London has scheduled you an interview date DOS will know!!
Just incase you dont have the number for them here it is.......202-663-1225,as soon as the man answers (recorded voice) hit 1-1-0 it takes you straight to an operator,
dont take any notice of what the standard reply emails, here is a copy of the email i got from them......

An appointment has been scheduled for April 28 at 09:00 a.m. Written confirmation of the date and time of the appointment has been sent to you.

Your husband is not required to provide you with his 2005 tax returns. The Immigrant Visa Unit allow a grace period between the end of the tax year and the date petitioners are required to present the latest tax return.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence.

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for the phone number ... I called the DOS as you suggested but the nice lady had no information for me as to interview dates. When I mentioned I knew people who were along the same timeframe as us she said each case was different and there was no way to determine when the interviews would be scheduled. We are wondering if our case is taking a bit longer because its not just my husband but my stepson as well so its 2 appointments/cases in one (so to speak).

Thanks for everything and you know I will keep you up-to-date with everything!!

Ok thanks for that info guys... I had already decided to just copy my tax returns (AGAIN) and send them to Crash just to be safe.. but I am confused about what Euro said.. originals of ALL documents? Didn't I send all the originals to NVC? What originals should he bring besides the forms they want him to fill out that they send him in the Packet 3??

:help: AGAIN... Now Crash has a question but he's too shy to post it himself so he's got me doing it for him, lol

Its about the police certificates: Do you have to apply to each counties police force that you have resided in even though it asks you to list all the places you have lived on each application form?

I think hes asking since he applied for a police certificate when he was living in Kent before we got married
and that application (which btw is dated April 5, 2005) had him list all the places he lived previously. That certificate he received only refers to the county he lived in at the time he filed for it (which is also the only thing they found on him from when he was 15).

1- Did that original application cover the period he lived in London and other places as well? And does he need a new one for the county he's living in now (he's been there since August)?

2- Does he need a certificate for all the other counties he has lived in besides the one it found something for him back in 1985 (when he was 15)

3 - Do we need a new certificate or will that April 5, 2005 one be ok god willing we get an interview in march or early april?? should he just get new ones to be safe??

Once again, sorry if I am making no sense... but thats why he loves me.. cuz I ramble lol. Appreciate all the input as always :)

Oh two more questions:

On the letters I got advising that their cases were forwarded to the Embassy it said "All beneficiaries that have a sponser filing the form I-864 Affidavit of Support on their behalf are advised to bring the most current three years of tax documents and supporting financial proof that is current at the date of the visa interview". This confuses me - I sent in, as requested, with the Affidavit of Support to NVC copies of my last 3 income tax returns. Does my hubby have to bring another set of copies with him to his interview??

Also, we were under the impression that I didn't have to be with him for the interview. Are we wrong? Am I required to be there?

Thanks again...

Me again returning to my best source of information.. all of you guys...

After getting phone confirmation from NVC I finally received two letters confirming my husband and stepson's cases were forwarded to the Embassy in London. Now come the questions:

1. Does anyone have an estimate as to how long it will take for the Embassy to send my hubby and son the Packet 3?

2. Can my hubby schedule their medicals or does he have to wait for the Packet 3 to arrive? Something about a form they have to bring with them??

3. Does anyone have updated information about the medicals, specifically where they can go get them? They are living in Devon.

I'm sure I have more questions but will leave it at that for now. As always... thanks to you all for your wonderful insight and information during all of this...

What I did was find the ds230 form online.(I googled it). I filled it out scanned it and emailed it to the jamaica consulate for my fiance. I made sure I checked the yes box for the question on whether or not someone assisted in filling out the form and I put my name and address and required. This is the fastest way to get an appointment. After you email the ds230 they will send you everything that's in packet 3 this includes ds156,156k, and 157 along with the medical document and further instructions along with the interview date and time. I emailed it to consularkingst@state.gov and kingstonininfo@state.gov. I received a response within 20 minutes. Be sure to put 2nd inquiry his case number, his name, your name and both of you guys date of birth in the subject line. If u wait to receive it through post office u will be waiting forever. Good luck

If my fiance is denied at his interview and we do everything we can after and it doesn't pull thrpugh, I'm relocating. You can have a good life in Jamaica. United KingdomObtaining a conviction/court record

Hi.

My husband (UK) and I (US) have filed for the K3 visa and we are starting to gather things for the interview/packet 3.

I was wondering if anyone has obtained a 'court record.' (http://london.usemba...iv/docs169.html).

Basically my husband was taken to the police station a few years back for drunken/disorderly conduct and at some point he paid a fine for the arrest. He's obtained his police certificate already.

If anyone could share their experience on how to obtain the court record or if it is needed for an arrest where a fine was paid we would really appreciate the informatin/help.

Thanks so much!!!

Kristina and Phillip

Did he actually appear in a Court or was it paid by way of a fixed penalty notice. If he appeared in a Court he needs to contact that Court and ask them how he obtains a copy of the record from them.

If it was a fixed penalty he would need to apply to the place he sent the payment to. If he doesn't know he should contact the police station that dealt with his arrest and ask them for the address where the fixed penalty fines are administered, and apply there for a copy of the record.

Thank you!

United KingdomAdvice/Experiences
Hi everyone.

Our I129F was approved today :)

I just was wondering if anyone had input/advice on how to make the next steps go smoothly. We've read the flow chart/looked at timelines. Just interested in what others have experienced.

We've gathered everything (evidence of ongoing relationship/copies of filed paperwork/originals of documents/police certificates/long form birth certificate/etc).

I'm in the process of filling out the affidavit as is my cosponsor.

If anyone has any insight or experiences they'd like to share, we're all ears! About packet 3, the medical, interview, etc.

Thanks so much.

United KingdomObtaining Immunization Records

UK immunization records are DESTROYED!! once you reach the age of 25 years old, that was the info i was given from my local health authority. I contacted my GP tellin him my problem about needin immunization records, especially needin documented proof that i'd had MMR and tetanus, to my relief my GP re-did them for free, so i recommend you contact your own GP a.s.a.p to have them re-done before your medical. He/she can only say yes or no, luckily i have a great GP. If he cant re-do them then the doctor at your medical will do them for you, but it will cost you more.

Good Luck

Glad to know we're not alone!!

Any idea of the cost at the medical for the vaccinations?

United KingdomObtaining Immunization Records

The same thing happened to my hubby. He had his doctor write a letter stating the immunizations he had when he was young. Still, he ended up getting the MMR and tetanus at his medical.

Good luck!

Thanks so much.

Also, looking at your timeline (which wow, things seemed to go quickly once the case was recieved at London! congrats!) how did you know that the case was transferred to the NVC and then the embassy. This may be a dumb question, but is that something I can check online or will I get a notice? I'm asking because we need to do a change of address for my husband and we don't know who/when to contact.

We still haven't received our paper NOA2. Only the email.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Hearing other people's stories calms me down :)

As we're gathering things for the next step, my husband's doctor told him that they no longer have his immunization records. This is his family doctor that he had growing up.

My question is, are they definitely needed or is there a way around it?

Also, anyone know where else they could be obtained?

Thanks so much!

United KingdomVisiting the US on Visa Waiver during K3 Process

Hi everyone.

I'm wondering if anyone has travelled during the K3/K1 visa process. I have read threads where people say it's fine, bring evidence of return/ties to home.

My husband is curious, however about filling out the form for the visawaiver. On it, it asks if you've ever applied for a visa before. I'm assuming he'll check yes, but... he's a bit nervous they'll turn him down at immigration.

Any insight, advice, etc.??

Thanks, as always.

Kristina

Hi Kristina,

I had the same concerns when I went to visit my husband in September. I contacted the Embassy for advice, check out this post for their response: http://www.visajourn...mp;#entry399823

I took all the evidence they suggested and more, but the immigration officer only asked for my return ticket as proof, I even offered to show him all my evidence and he didn't want to see it. He just asked me who I was visiting and why, how long I had known my husband, if I had been to the USA before, and how long I was staying for and that was it!

Good luck with your visit and for the rest of your visa journey!
Andie :)

Thank you very much Andie! Good luck to you too!!

This sounds like a silly question...but couldn't he have applied for a mail redirection service when he moved? Royal Mail do this for you for a pretty good fee. You apply at the Post Office. I've used it many a time and have always been pleased with it.

Packet 3 would automatically be redirected to his new address then.

Hmm... we were under the impression that mail coming from the Embassy could not be forwarded.

I'll have him do that as well though, just to play it safe.

Thanks for all the advice :)
