K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhats the correct way to date Money orders

If you spell out the month, there is no ambiguity.

I'm writing this on March 6, 2006. In the US, most people would write that numerically as 03/06/2006 (or 03/06/06). But in much of the rest of the world, a date written that way would be interpreted at June 3, 2006.

Because I do a fair bit of international correspondence, long ago, I quit writing dates in numbers-only format. I now use dd mmm, yyyy, where "mmm" is the three-letter month abbreviation spelled out. Today is "06 Mar, 2006". I write it that way on checks and everything else.

But if you insist on writing number-only, and if the document is for a US-only audience, put the month before the day.

I have to agree.. write out the month on checks and money orders (and the like) and there should be no confusion... as for forms the majority of them will tell you how they want the date written..

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresillegal fiance

my fiance came here illegally 6 years ago from Mexico. We started dating a year and a half ago and we are now getting married. We talked to one attorney and she said the best option is for us is to get married in Mexico and then apply for the K-3 visa and the I-130 visa. Does any of you think this is the best option? Also we have a a problem he uses a fake soc. security card and resident card. Can they find out?

Thank You

nice to see how proud you are that he uses a fake ss card and resident card... WHY am i responding to this #######?? You posted an identical post about your sister.. get a fracking life and leave us alone

Wow.. A week ago I was talking to my husband and while talking to him a female came on the line and my husband was put on hold. I asked how did she get connected to my line and she said I dialed the wrong number, she hung up and I then heard my husbands voice. He said the same thing happened to him only he was talking to a male. Never thought about ppl listening in on our conversation or recording it. We just thought it was weird.

He would have to go to the main headquarters in Kingston. Dont listen to anybody my fiance just got his records from Kingston last week Thursday. Tell the main headquarters its for the visa interview. He can pick it up, they dont send it to the embassy.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Usual Timeframe for NVC for K1's?

Ours took about 3 weeks. I feel your frustration. I was scratching my head back then wondering how got to NVC quick and others not so fast. Hang in there. It will be there soon.

LOL @scratching headback. True yawdy lol.. Exactly I'm seeing some peeps who petitions were sent within a day. One week. Rarely three weeks. But now that I think back, my first K1 took about three weeks as well. I'm just anxious to see my fiance :). Thanks for the words of encouragement.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Usual Timeframe for NVC for K1's?

Keep calling NVC until you get the answer you need . NVC folks are very nice. One day they will tell you it has been forwarded to the embassy and when they give you the date you can do this to track it http://www.visajourn...-to-us-embassy/

The best of luck to you :)

Thanks so much hun. I appreciate it.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Usual Timeframe for NVC for K1's?

Lately it's been from 2-4 weeks. Have you called NVC to see if they have it?

Yes I have and been calling everyday smh. And the NVC says that the USCIS didn't send it as yet, and then USCIS says they sent it. It's ridiculous.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Usual Timeframe for NVC for K1's?
I'm just curious, how long does it usually take for NVC to receive K1s from USCIS? It's been three weeks for me and nothing yet. I'm noticing most people waited the least 1day and the max 14 days. Rarely come across anything longer. Just want this to be hurry up and done with. First the headache of the K1 getting approved, then to be waiting for NVC, then after that wait for interview date. Smh. I will be happy when this is all over.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Four weeks since NOA2 and NvC still hasnt received my case

Hang in there FB14!!! We all know how frustrating it is. Start getting the other documents together. Have him start getting his non-impediment and police report. Start getting your packet together. Get him to sign and return the DS-230. The quicker you get these things in place...the quicker you can get that interview date. It will soon come!!!

Thanks. Is the Ceritifcate of Non Impediment really necessary? I was told by many that they really dont ask for it. Someone from the embassy said that to someone I know. But, you are right, I will start getting the other stuff together. Also, I'm planning to get the interview expedited as well. Thanks for the words of encoragement.

Maybe you could try calling the DOS number? They seem to have a little bit more info than NVC,they are much much nicer and the hold time is way shorter. Just a thought. I called NVC 3 times in one day gor same answer, then someone suggested I try DOS so I did and I got an answer. Called NVC back and still they had nada..

Good luck

Thanks will do hun. Good luck with your upcoming interview.

Im really over this immigration process. My petition was approved on October 29th and still not sent to the NVC. Whats even more.frustrating is it seems that nobody on this site had to wait this long. USCIS is the worst. The retarded reps says it takes up to.90 days..Really? And the supervisor says it will be sent directly to Kingston without being sent to NVC. Then the tier 2 says it takes 30 days. I havent seen it take so long for anyone yet. Whats the point of getting an expedite approved n then have to wait til God knows when to get.it sent to NVC. I feel.as if my paperwork is just lost.

Africa: Sub-SaharanK-3 VISA-GHANA (PLEASE HELP!!!)
HELLO EVERYONE!!!

I NEED SOME HELP REGARDING MY K-3 VISA. SO MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE EMBASSY IN GHANA TODAY TO PICK UP HIS K-3 VISA PACKET. IT CONTAINED ALL THE FORMS (DS-156, DS-230) AND A CHECKLIST. HE HAS TO HAND IN SOME FORMS FIRST, AND THEN HE WILL RECEIVE THE INTERVIEW DATE. MY QUESTION IS, DOES HE ONLY HAND IN THE DS-156 AND THE DS-230 TOMORROW AND THEN THE REST (POLICE REPORT, MEDICAL FORM, ETC.) WHEN HE GOES FOR HIS INTERVIEW?

I REALLY NEED TO KNOW THAT INFORMATION ASAP!!!

THANKS SO MUCH...

I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!!

Hey there!

I am actually married to a Ghanaian as well, and we are doing the K-3 route. Thus far, it seems ok. There is a TON of paperwork, and sometimes I do wonder if I should have just gone the CR-1 route, but anyhow, my husband just picked up packet 3 today (we filed in december) and we are going to get that done ASAP so we can find out our interview date. I guess it depends on the situation. Perhaps if children are involved, then maybe the CR-1 route would be better. I am not sure, just trying to be helpful, since there seems to be few people married/engaged to Ghanaians on this site. Shoot me a message anytime or any questions.

I wish you the best of luck with your journey!!!!

Africa: Sub-SaharanFor white men married to African women
Hello my sista!

First and foremost, I am speaking to you as a woman. I am appalled that your husband would require you to wear a wig. It not only goes back to the eurocentric ideal of beauty, but many things come into question regarding your husband and his perception of how he wants you to look. Black is BEAUTIFUL, and black hair is BEAUTIFUL! he married you for who you were (well at least he should have). Someone else mentioned that this goes deeper than hair, and I agree. This is deeper than your husband asking you to wear a straight wig. To me, it also brings up the notion that straight hair is more appealing than course hair. This is is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately, especially if you are considering bringing kids into this world. How will he expect your little girl(s) to look of they have course hair? Please know that I am speaking as a woman who wears dreadlocs, and it was a very conscious decision to do so. More of us need to embrace our natural beauty, because secretly, many of us believe that there is something wrong with being too "black" or too "african."

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

and for you women who had the AUDACITY to tell this sista to get some microbraids or wait til she gets her green card to change things....I AM APPALLED! that is the problem...we don't love ourselves....

embrace blackness, because we are a great people!!!! those in the diaspora and those on the continent!

Africa: Sub-Saharanwaiting too long for packet 3 from accra
hey there!

my husband and i also waited a long time for our packet 3 (about 2 months). what we did was this: my husband took copies of our approval notices to the embassy and he received packet 3 in his hand. he then returned the very next day and received packet 4 with the interview date. so i suggest that your fiance try going there again with the approval notices. did you receive something that says your fiance should go to the embassy? i ask this because the embassy also sent me a letter (at my address in the usa) which stated that my husband may come to the embassy and pick up "important visa forms". so my husband also took a copy of that notice as well along with him. the accra embassy can be a bit nutty, but STAY ON THEM! hang in there. you are gonna get through this soon!

i hope i helped some :-)

Africa: Sub-SaharanPolice Report
Hello Again Everyone,

As Nana (my husband) has his interview very soon, I have a question that I know you guys can help me with. Nana got his police report done when he went to pick up packets 3 & 4 in Accra back in April. We thought we were going to receive an earlier interview date, so we wanted to get everything done. So my question is, our interview is in September, and Nana's police report is dated in April. Do we have to do another? How long can the police report be done before the interview? I read a post a while ago that said 90 days....is that true?

I would appreciate any help at all.

thanks in advance... :help:

Africa: Sub-SaharanNervous...
Hey my dear!

First of all, i am so happy you had the courage to post regarding how you feel! gurl, i have the SAME FEELINGS! i get soo scared, because nana will be here next month and that is sooo soon. i personally have a very demanding life, because i am devoted to teaching, writing, etc. i want to be the best wife possible and make sure that i make time for my marriage because that is NUMBER 1! listen, when nana and i got married, my mom was acting up, because he is african and poor and i am young with my "whole life ahead of me" blah blah blah... so i hear you on that! BUT GUESS WHAT?! we love each other and that is all that matters. some people are just jealous-trust me! nana and i still have NO IDEA what he is going to do when he gets here, but we will figure something out, and so will you and ombeni! i feel like we need to be a support system for each other! it took my family a while to get used to nana...acutally, it took them YEARS!! your family and friends will get used to him. he loves you and you love him. that is all that matters. the nerves are normal. that is all a part of love. if you wasn't nervous, then i would be nervous...hehe.

i know you two will be fine. just keep the patience, faith and strength and know that you are not in this alone. i for one, have all of the same fears you have. but the one thing that matters is love. some people die without experiencing true love. you have it already and it is gonna be good. you are also dealing with issues of interracial dating, which is not easy. just remember why you fell in love with ombeni in the first place. i'm rooting for you guys...
