US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?

I just spoke with the courts here in Florence, Italy over the phone and they said that I have to translate it myself, then bring it to them and have it notarized, that do they not do court certified translations.
Will this be acceptable?

im sorry that i cannot answer that question, but please let me know when you do find out...itd be a great help to me

What happens for people that are outside of the country? How could they go about doing this (as I am leaving VERY soon and who knows if they will be able to have it finished by then)?

try and go to the place where you recieved the police certificate and ask them there...otherwise maybe try going to the embassy in florence...im sure they would know where you have to go for that...try and keep your cool though, stressing will only make it worse

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionco sponsor is beneficiary's aunt???

will it be a threat/or how would i call it, if just in case our co-sponsor is my wife's (beneficiary) relative??? will it make a difference if its my relative who will co-sponsor?? just wondering which is best... thanks in advance!!

yea, i wouldnt use your wife's aunt as a co-sponsor...it might raise suspicions about there being an 'arranged' marriage...i would stick to using one of your own relatives if possible

im not sure if all this is sufficient? please help me out and tell me what you think of it!

nina, i think you will be ok as long as you have a letter from your fiance's employer stating his current income and what not...the pay stubs will also prove that he is currently making enough money...you should be fine...best of luck to you!

QUOTE (reddy @ Aug 22 2007, 10:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am an Indian citizen living in the US for 6.5 yrs now. I am a widow. I have a son 19. I have a work-based greeen card in process.
I met a US citizen. We got engaged. He filed for a K1 visa. I could have just got married since I was already in the US but we wanted to get K2 and AOS my son before he aged out on my work-based petition. Now my interview date in Chennai India is 10th Sept.

My questions are:
1. If they ask me why I need K1/K2 what should I say?
2. Since I have lived in the US for 6.5 yrs but applying for K1 from Chennai, where should I get police certificates from. Before moving to US I lived in Bangalore for 14 years and in Chennai before that.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

get police certs from any place you have lived for more than 6 months over the age of 16...this does not include the united states

i have a question...
where is everyone finding that you need tax returns/w2s for this affidavit? I don't see it anywhere on the I-134 instructions! sad.gif

it also depends on the consulate...the consulate in tirana specifically states in packet 3 that you have to have a copy of the most recent years income tax return...perhaps its not required for the I-134, but it is required by the consulate

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHELP! Got request for tax return at interview!
yea there is no need to worry, i am in basically the same boat as you guys

i was a student a dependent of my mother until this june, when i became employed full time...i didnt file tax returns for 2006 because i was under minimum. as previously stated, you just have to write them a letter explaining this point

pay stubs and an employment letter will be sufficient to prove that you are currently making sufficient income

i might also include some bank statement which show deposits into my bank account for the pay stub amounts weekly (this is not necessary, but will further prove my case if needed)

i will also include copies of my W2 forms from the years that i was working part time, to prove that i didnt make enough money in order to file

no worries!

I just came back from the interview, it was very relaxed and the interviewer made me feel very at ease.
By the way, at 1pm the embassy was tooootally empty. honest, I was the only person!
It was like I had the embassy all to myself hehehe

They took our papers and I waited while he reviewed everything (this took an hour! I did get to see some cool pics of the grand canyon in the meantime wink.gif )
Then the interview:
*(we started with some small talk - this helped me a lot because I was a little nervous)
*where did you learn your English?
*Does Justin speak Spanish? do you always communicate in English?
*when you applied for the tourist Visa, did you tell the interviewer you were going to see your bf? - my answer, yes, but I didn't mark him as my fiancé because he wasn't at the time. I did state I was going to stay at his house and told the interviewer that he was my bf, but that we were still getting to know each other...which was true, honest and proved cool.gif
*How old were you when you lived in the US? when was that? (I was very young at the time, so this posed no problem)

Ok, you are approved ( !!!!!!!!) before I let you go, how did you guys meet?
(told him the story...made a joke about how I ditched Justin's first 2 kiss attempts tongue.gif he replied” well, did you finally let him kiss you??" laughing.gif)

Do you know what you have to do when you get to the US? (yes, thanks to VJ!!! good.gif )
He explained the rules of the fiancée visa, I paid the fee....and now my visa will be delivered next week

kicking.gif Yay!! kicking.gif

I already called Justin and his mom, everyone is really happy...I'm jumping with joy!! I can't wait to finally be there!!

Saludos,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNaples Consulate
My fiance is an Albanian citizen living in Italy with an expired work visa.

Because of his legal status, we were intending for him to have his interview at the Embassy in Tirana, Albania. Even though I requested that the NVC send our case to Albania, they still went ahead and sent it to the Consulate in Naples.

I was wondering if anyone here has had an interview in Naples while their fiance was illegally living in Italy.

I was going to have Naples transfer our petition over to Tirana, but I'm thinking that there is a small chance that we might not have to do that. I know that some consulates will definitely ask for proof of legal status, but I am specifically asking about Naples here.

I just got off the phone with someone from the DOS and she very much confused me

our case was mistakenly sent to the consulate in naples, italy, and last week i had requested a transfer to the correct embassy in tirana, albania...the woman on the phone told me that the documents left naples on the 5th, and that packet 3 was sent on the 6th...

is it possible that packet 3 was sent out before the consulate recieved the hard copy of our petition?

im just trying to figure out if naples sent us packet 3, or if it was tirana

Hey there, you may have figured everything out by now on this post but I just wanted to let you know what I got in the Packet 3. The instructions said that in order to schedule the interview (in Naples) that I have to send in only DS-230 Part I and Applicant's Statement in order to let them know that I have finished gathering all the documents needed for the interview. And that everything else has to be presented in the interview. Then regarding the proof of relationship. I found that the proof has to be sent in as part of Form DS-156K Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application. In any case, it's recommended that you have a copy of everything that the sponser sent in the original application.

thanks very much, i think its a little different for tirana, as they tell us to mail in everything (including i-134, all the ds forms, police certs, etc), but thanks for pointing that out about the ds156k proof of relationship thing

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMailing in Documents Question
At the Embassy in Tirana, Albania the Packet 3 consists of a list of documents which must be mailed into the Embassy before they will mail out Packet 4. Packet 3 does not state Proof of an Ongoing Relationship and some other things that I know are normally required for the interview.

My question is as follows:

Do I mail in only the documents that are listed in Packet 3, and bring everything else with me to the interview, or should I go ahead and mail everything into the Embassy straight away (just in case)?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussiontranslate the police certificate?
i also think its important to mention here that if the police certificate is in the native language of the country where the interview is to be conducted, it is very likely that the embassy will accept it as is...in other words, my fiance got one police certificate from italy and another from albania...he was only required to translate the one from italy, because packet 3 specified that documents can be accepted in either english OR albanian

as far as whether or not the petitioner / beneficiary can translate the document themself, i think it varies by embassy...if youre planning on doing so, i would contact the embassy to ensure that they will accept it

QUOTE (misspkm @ Jan 11 2008, 09:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello to you all.

I am a new member as of today and I have a few questions on what is coming next...

My fiance is in Philadelphia and I am in Sweden... and at least I am going crazy being away from him!!!
I know you all know exactly how I feel... no one at home understand how it feels. (you know what I am talking about?!)

Ok.. so we got engaged on Nov 24th and sent in our I-129F before christmas and have received the NOA1.

I am going to Philly on a VWP on Feb 1st until beginning of april. And I just wanted to prepair as much as I could in advance for packet 3 and 4.

Is there anywhere I could find information on this??

I have to say that this site helped us alot with the application!!!

Have a great weekend!! good.gif

zee is correct, in general those are the documents needed...to be more specific, is there a consulate in sweden?? i looked for the information on vj, but there is no sweden consulate listed...do you have to go to oslo? if so, all of that information can be found here:
http://www.visajourn...e...ay&cty=Oslo

timeline.gif

edit: i just did some more research and it seems that there is a consulate in sweden, but nobody has posted information with regards to it...in general you, the beneficiary should gather your original birth certificate, a police certificate from sweden and any other countries that you have lived in for more than 6 months...if any documents are not in english or swedish, you must make sure to have them notarized and translated, you will also need passport photos, a copy of your passport and (most likely) all of the forms that zee mentioned

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhen to make medical appt for London???

Hi !

I am an avid planner and have a question regarding the medical appt. in Knightsbridge.

Our case is at NVC just now, and not yet in London.

We are at this stage in the process:

We sent back the DS-3032, I paid the AOS bill and I am waiting for the actual I-864 pacakge to hit me and for the DS-230 bill to get here as well.

My husband lives in Aberdeen Scotland, and has to travel 2x to London. Once for the medical, and once for the interview. If all goes well, I am purely speculating here, but perhaps a June interview is in our future???

How soon should he make the appt in Knightsbridge? Will he be instructed as to when? Or is it at our own discretion?
I may be jumping the gun here, but as I say-planning ahead is something that has worked well for us during the process and I would like to keep the momentum going...

Thanks !!

-Rose

Hi Rose,

We have found out that CR1 cases once the file goes to the Embassy in London you go straight to the Packet 4 (which we are still waiting for) which informs you of the Interview Date and provides information on getting the medical. There has been some debate as to whether or not you can get the medical before receiving Packet 4 because there is a form enclosed for the doctor to fill out. Some have said you can download the form yourself and bring it with you and others have said you can't. Of course I can't find any of the posts discussing that LOL.

I know how you feel though about planning ahead. My husband lives in Devon and will also have to make two trips to London for the medical and interview.

If someone has better info about getting the medical (for CR1) before getting Packet 4 please let BOTH of us know. From what I understand with the K-1 you can do your medical first and then inform the Embassy that you have that already and it may help speed up interview dates. However like I said I don't think that's the case for us CR1 cases.

Hopefully some if this helps you Rose. Like I said, if anyone has any better advice or if I am off base with anything I said please feel free to let me know.

I will say this Rose.. The people on this site are the best most wonderful people who provide such helpful and knowledgable information based on their experiences!!!

Good luck and let us know by posting how it all is going!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion for UK embassy interviews

Just reading and asking in a post on the K1 forum but thought I would put it in here. For those UK citizens who went for their K1 interview in London recently and have been married before......

Do you need/do they request to see your marriage certificate or is the Decree Absolute enough proof that you are legal to marry? I got divorced over 7 years ago and my solicitor took my marriage certificate then so all i have physically is my Decree Absolute. I thought that is all that was needed but there is a thread on the K1 forum where people have said the actual certificate of marriage is needed also. :( I dont know if my solicitor's office will still have that on record as it was years back (I know the solicitor that dealt with my divorce is no longer there).

Any advice on this is very much appreciated. Thanking in advance

Lina (UKC)

You need the Decree Absolute showing the first marriage is over. The only time you need a marriage certificate is when you going for the CR1 and have to show you are married (but then you also need the Decree showing DUH you were divorced before you got married LOL)

Huh?? What is CBP? You still have to go thru Immigration in the US or am I missing something? You are immigrating to the US arent you?

For some reason that I'm not sure of Dublin is considered a USA port of entry, so you will go through customs and immigration in Dublin just the same as if you were to fly into LAX or JFK or some airport in the USA. I'm sure someone else can refresh my memory as to why Dublin is considered an American POE.

What? How is that possible? Now I'm totally confused LOL If this is true then we should be looking at flights thru Dublin. Can anyone confirm what James said?

Buy wait a sec... if you have a connecting flight to the US you dont go thru customs. Crash didnt when he came here last thru Amsterdam. Is Dublin THAT different? LOL
