I read the text of the new Senate legislation and came accross with a startling information.
I do not know if CR1 visa holders will be effected by the new legislation. It says the Conditional Residence period is going to be 6 years. And Conditional residents will not be able to get Federal Higher Education Grants (FAFSA) anymore but just loans.

What do you think? Will these conditions effect us (legal immigrants)?

If it does then it will mean rewarding illegality/breaking of laws and punishing law-abiding people more.

I need your opinion on the new situation if the Senate passes this legislation as it is.

Hi everyone..

Need some advice on what we need to do.

My husband and I were married in July, 2005. He and his son finally arrived as conditional permanent residences in May, 2006. If my calculation are correct we need to file our petition to remove conditions this month.

To make a very long story short, my stepson's biological mother who had been out of contact for a million years turned up and my stepson began communicating with her and his half sister who he hadn't seen in 13 years and missed terribly.

My stepson (who is 16) decided he wanted to return to England and go live with his mother. And so he went.

Our questions are:

1. Do we need to notify CIS that he has left the country? Or do we just let his green card expire in May?

2. When we file the petition to remove my husband's conditions we obviously have to leave my stepson off.. Should we make reference to him returning to England in our cover letter?

We just aren't clear as to what we need to do, obviously lol. Any advice would be appreciated as always.

If any of our old friends are around.. hi guys!! Hope all is well with you things are great with us (with the exception of Crash Jr. going back to England).

we received our NOA scheduling Crash's biometrics.. but as luck would have it.. the date is for when we will be away on vacation. there is a "request for rescheduling" option that we can check and send back to get a new date. just wondering if anyone knows how long that takes? thanks

wow guess we are one of the lucky ones.. we got our NOA1 on March 31st and received the NOA2 ASC Appointment Notice yesterday. our only problem is the date scheduled is, of course, while we will be away on vacation. there is an option for rescheduling so lord knows how long that will take...

Thanks sweetie :). I called DOS and was told that as of today packet 3 was mailed to him. When I already.emailed it to them n it was confirmed to.have been received. Also, when I look at the NIV case status it says its ready for interview since the 15th. Really confused.

I emailed my DS230 and got a respond stating that an interview letter will be sent to my fiance when a date is available. When we did our last petition we were given an interview date immediately after emailing the DS230. Ive requested an expedite interview and been emailing the embassy and of course no response and its been over 5 business days. When I check our.case.status online it says ready.for interview. Whats the new procedure for interviews? My next step is to contact DHS.

Hi, we received the NOA#2 and are now getting everything ready for the Packet 3.

I understand that the the beneficiary (my fiance) must provide certain documents as per packet 3, including any any child's birth certificate. Is a copy of his daughter's birth certificate allowed? He does not have the original, as it is with this daughter's mother, in another country.

The I-134 is the financial support. An updated Fiance(e) letter of intent from each of you will provide for "proof of engagement". It is asked for by some consulates, but not all.

Most consulates will issue a 221g if your application is missing required information and you will have some days to get the missing info to them

Thanks, the results will most definitely take at least a day, but the lady at the Consulate said we could go into the Medical at 7am day of the interview and have until 10:00am (even though the intv is at 9am) to complete the medical, then go to the intv. and then wait for the results for the next day.The issue for us, is every time I call I hear a different story, so I am not confident that this plan will work. We may just need to bite the bullet and head to Barbados days earlier.

I get to leave bitter cold NYC to head out Antigua tomorrow to spend the holidays with my fiance, then we fly out this weekend to Barbados for his interview on Monday morning.... hope to be coming home in a few weeks knowing we have the visa.

My tiEdLine is similar to yours. Fp 5/21... May get Cfr 7-21.
Called n spoke with IO today (July 21).
She relunctantly answered only direct questions.
FbI name check only cleared, June 29.
Yellow Letter only mailed Yesterday?
When I first called in July 2nd, I was MisLed? by IO
that I might be in Interview Queue for Garden City.
No Online Changes.... Just PD of April 30th.

Almost 2 months 20 days w/o updates

It was very hard for me to leave Ewen after being in Scotland over New Year; he had his visa already, but we didn't yet know when he'd be coming over, and so we weren't sure when we'd see each other again! Talk about :( and :unsure: ...

So we've been apart for just about a year now, with 3 visits (thankfully), but I would be lying if I said the separation wasn't starting to wear pretty hard on me. I won't miss the distance when he gets here in April.

It might not be the 12 weeks they're indicating in your e-mail there, but it might well be. I wouldn't expect to wait less than eight weeks between return of packet 3 and the interview date, at the very least.

The good news is that London seems to be speeding up after a severe backlog in the fall and early winter, so you may not be looking at that 12 weeks after all. But take it from someone who *did* wait 12 weeks...it won't do you any good to get your knickers in a twist about it! ;)

Looks to me like nothing has changed! ;) The "public charge" provision is satsfied with your other financial evidence: I-134, bank/employment letters, etc.

The DS-2000 is the checklist.
