K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen is the best time to fill out the DS-160?

Different consulates have different requirements. That is why everyone should read and follow the instructions from their own consulate and not another country's. For most consulates that accept co-sponsors with the K-1, the USC petitioner and co-sponsor fill out an I-134. No I-864 used for the K-1 visa. If a consulate specifically requests that a co-sponsor provide an I-864 instead, then of course you would follow their instructions.

So i think that i will do both for my co sponsor and like this is will be better if they ask for I134 or I864 i will have it in my carpet... thank u.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen is the best time to fill out the DS-160?

Co sponsor fill up I-864? I thought both sponsors and co sponsor fill up I-134 for K1 visa?

Somebody tell me this: The USC petitioner and the co=sponsor each fill out their own I-134 and provide supporting documentation, such as most recent tax transcript, letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs The co-sponsor should also provide proof of being a USC or LPR in case it is asked for. Hope that can help u.

Hi,

The best time to fill-out DS-160 is when US Consulate sends the packet or instruction to your fiancee in Dominican Republic. Filling out DS-160 will take only 30 minutes or less. So no need to rush things in filling-out. What you need is to compile their requirements which takes sometimes. Here below is the sample instruction I receive from US Consulate when I'm processing my K-1. But of course other US Consulate may require similar but other requirements. Hope this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbout DS-160

if my fiancee made  a mistake doing the DS 160 and she submitted it, what will happen, can we re- do it again??

We are confused with this question:

Have you ever been refused a US visa, or been refused admission to the United States or withdrawn your application for admission at the Port of Entry??/

We answer NO, but in 2007 she was refuse a visa from college and 2010 they refuse a tourist visa because she hadnt strong tie in DR, now we are nervous and dont know what to do, because, that made us confused,

so Any advise would be good.

the other question is: Has  Anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with USCIS ... we put no.. is that one correct??

.Omg I need your help please...

Yes Sindi, that works. That is what I do with ours. You can retrieve it at anytime. Just remember that your fiancé in DR has to sign and submit from a DR computer. If you sign and submit for her it will be suspect and could be tossed out. The know the IP address from where it was signed and submitted.

Thank u bob, and yes i know she has to sign it and submitted, but thanks ..

I'm not sure if you can save it online because on the instruction says about do not save it on public computer since people could easily access it. I already done my DS-160 by myself at home.

After I submitted it, either I can print out at that time or send to an email address so I can access later the confirmation. You can also retrieved DS-160 form after you submitted.

As myself, I printed out each pages to see all information even though the consulate advised for applicanrs not to bring those pages to the interview. I did it just for my record.

you are the petitioner??? You right is better save it in the computer... :) thank u.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think we made an error filling out the DS160

Update about my sister's K-1 visa interview: She had her interview yesterday and passed it. She was not even asked about this question. So just relax until the interview. And if, just in case they ask about it, then tell them the truth that you made an error when you filled out the form online. Goodluck!

Thank u We'll be honest with them, before we start our interview i'll tell them about that error... Thanks...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think we made an error filling out the DS160

I would just add that if you say Yes to the question "Have you ever been refused a US visa etc." it gives you a box where you can explain exactly what happen.  We answered yes to that question and explain that my fiancée applied for a tourist visa and was denied.  Lucky I was with her in the Philippines last week and we were able to fill out the DS-160 together.  That question and the one about "has anyone ever filed a petition on your behalf" were kind of confusing but I knew from reading post on here that the correct answer was no.  They are asking about the past not the current petition.

thanks!

The good thing that you take this very seriously by sent an email to the US embassy and explaining what was happened. Print all emails conversation between you and the embassy then give to your fiance so she has a proof that you've tried to get fixed the mistake prior the interview, in case the CO ask her about the error on DS-160 form during her interview. I think she would be fine.

Thank u i will print all conversation , and i will go the interview with her, thank u for the help.

Your sister probably would get asked about that. Just tell what she should do and what kind explanation regarding B-2 refusal on the DS-160 submission in case the question ever came up at the interview and that was an honest mistake. Many people that applied for a visa are not English native speaker-including me-. And most of immigration papers are really confusing or vague sometimes.

Lot of people get confuse, if u lie with something like u have legal problems, like drugs, or were deported u know those thing could be a big problem but something like this couldnt be a big deal, maybe they send us to do it again..because is minor mistake.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think we made an error filling out the DS160

I am glad I've found this thread because I helped my sister with her DS-160. And I told her to say NO despite of her recent tourist visa denial because of how I understood the question. And she already forwarded her application to the US Embassy the other day. The question is just too confusing even for native american speaker like my friend.I asked him and agreed with me the first time he heard it. And then I read your reply to him and re-read the question and then he said you are right.

I will just ask my sister to call the US Embassy and let them know what happened. It was an honest mistake and hopefully they won't give her a hard time.

It's what I said it was an honest mistake, that question made us confused, so i sent an email to our consulate so i will wait for they answer, we has no need to lie becasue this a bonafide relationship, and it was a mistake so i will tell the CO what happend because we are honest and we know when she get the refuse month and year, so we gonna do a notarized letter for the CO..... good night. ..

Yes, I just broke the sentence down by clauses so it would be clearer that it doesn't matter where the US visa was refused. As long as she was refused one, the answer should be "yes". The 'port of entry' bit only applies to admission - POE doesn't issue tourist visas. smile.png

Yes, you have 30 days from the date of your previous submission to amend your new submission. After that point in time, the pre-filled information won't appear.

Ok thank u so much I will wait for answer from the consulate...

sind27FemaleDominican Republic2014-01-10 22:33:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think we made an error filling out the DS160

Those questions need to be elaborate more. There are 3 questions, (Have you ever been refused a US visa), or (been refused admission to the United States) or (withdrawn your application for admission at the Port of Entry - ) not only specific about POE.

To OP:

Please see your I-129F approval petition that US consulate sent to you attached to packet 3. There is column remarks there and one of Vjers here had an additional info on the column about her J-1 visa refusal. Check it and if it says the refusal so make sure your fiancee giving an explanation to CO about the error and she did not intend to lied on application.

I was refused for B-2 visa (or as I thought ) in 2010 and I filled out DS-160 form before got packet 3. Back then, CO gave me green slip 212 (g) and put "consider filing petition for K-1 visa" for refusal reason. When I filled out DS-160 form, I clicked yes, and  the next colums says,"explain". So had to explain that I've been refused for B-2 visa in 2010.

The funny part was, on the remarks of my I-129F approval, it did not mentioned about my B-2 visa refusal, only my I-129F expiration date written  with a pen. One more thing, you can't re-do your DS-160 form after you submitted it. Only retrieved it.

in Santo Dgo. we dont received packet 3, I received a letter from NVC telling me to do the DS 160, but anyway I sent an email to US embassy in Santo Domingo.. ezxplained it what should we do about that... Thank you .

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think we made an error filling out the DS160

Okay, this thread is very confusing lol. Yeah, in most instances you can't edit the DS-160 after it's been submitted. But, there's a loophole.

Do you have your application ID number? How long has it been since you submitted the DS-160?

If you have the number, and it has been less than 30 days since you submitted the form, go to the CEAC website, and click "retrieve application". The system will prompt you to "create new application", select this, and your previous application should come up. You can submit the form again and and print a new cover page and bar code. You should submit both the previous and the new cover pages to the embassy (or bring them to the interview, whichever your consulate requires).

If it's been more than 30 days, I don't know the fix, sorry. If you don't have your application ID number, I think you need to be able to recall your answers to the security questions that were set at the time you registered your account.

The wording is broken up like this:

Have you ever:

(a) been refused a US visa; or

(b) been refused admission to the United States; or

© withdrawn your application for admission at the Port of Entry

As long as either (a) or (b) or © holds true, the answer should be "yes" - so the OP should have selected "yes" for this question since his fiance was refused a US visa.

the sentence is like this

Have you ever been refused a US visa, or been refused admission to the United States or withdrawn your application for admission at the Port of Entry?

it is just one question... YES or NO...

So  I submitted today and Yes i have the application ID, i f I do it like that i can see the previous application??? if I'll Try now can I still save it until I feel comfortable to send it before 30 days?

I think you are okay in this one saying NO because  the question is 'refused at the PORT OF ENTRY' which means here in the US and not in the US Embassy where the interview took place. Correct me if am wrong. Thanks.

Exactly, she never has been here... so I put NO because it said AT PORT OF ENTRY

That is when you go with the wrong papers, they give you another appoinment to submit the right papers, but when they oppen and read the 160 they arent going to ask you if all that you have answered is truth, they think that is truth but they are going to look if it is right, so if they read that you say that never she was denied before , they are going to think that she is lying because they have on their computer her record.
So my abvise fix it as soon as possible.

they will ask about that, and be gonna be honest,..  and telling them that we misunderstood the question,,,
