Im wondering how many of the Canadian side didnt have that many show up for their wedding in the states? When we were originally thinking of doing the K1 route, I felt so awkward knowing that 95% of the wedding would be his family, and friends...

There's only 3 Canucks at my wedding. One of my bridesmaids, my son and his fiancee. All the rest of the guests, ( about 250) are Tim's family and friends. smile.gif

Minnie- isn't the hair trial exciting! That's when I started to really get anxious. Have you set a concrete move date yet?

Nope no concrete move date yet, I am getting really anxious though! Depends how much packing I can get done!

Pics of my trial hair! I'm hoping that the stylist in Omaha will be able to replicate it!

Nice!! I had my hair trial too. I'm hoping that I'll get some email pic's of it so I can post them. It's going to look awesome!! I have very long hair, ( almost to my knees) and it was all brought up with curls everywhere. It looked kinda Victorian. And my dress is done!!!! Yay. Still some things to finish up but I think we'll be ready.

We are doing musicians for the ceremony and then a DJ for the reception.

I haven't read this thread in a while, but it only took me about 30 mins to find my dress. We bought it right off the rack (my dearest mom paid for it).

Here's a pic:

I'm not a size 2 like the model, but I think I look great in it. Alfred Angelo designed my dress too.

Here's also our Save the Date cards. I designed them myself. They are printed on magnet paper.

The only difference between this one and the printed ones are that "Save the Date!" is a little lower and I have our website at the bottom.

Our website is www.mikenlisa.net . It's not done yet, looks pretty bad right now, but Mike's gonna work on it this weekend I hope.

Pretty dress!! I love that detail through the skirt.

We just finished talking with the photographer today. I think we're going to go with the bridal pictures that are part of the package. She was saying that here in the South, it's usual to see a large picture of the bride, all dressed up at the reception. I'm so excited. She does great pictures.

Wow, 3 weeks tomorrow!!! We've been so busy ever since I got here a little over a week ago. Sure is different though in the South, than what I'm used to!! laughing.gif Oh well, still going to be a fun day!

OMG 60 DAYS!!! AHHHH!! Still so much to do!

I am going to be an utter mess during the ceremony. I keep reading over the ceremony that the pastor emailed to us and I break down crying when it comes time to read the vows. Even the scripture makes me tear up! I told my fiance about how I will be crying most likely, and he's like well sheesh if you really don't want to marry me, you don't have to...and does his whole impression of a baby crying.... laughing.gif (He does alot of cute impressions) I love his sarcasm somedays! wacko.gif laughing.gif

I've less than 40 for mine!! dancin5hr.gif I hope that after I arrive next week, we'll tie up those "loose strings" that we need to do, and then try to relax the last couple weeks. We've a big honeymoon coming up, so we'll need to get ready for that, as well as last minute details in the bedroom being renovated. I'll just make sure we have all the basics and then we can "pretty" it up after we settle into married life.

Chadlaure...you're next! (again)..laughing.gif but this will be the ceremony part for you right?

And then,.... ME!!!!!!! dancin5hr.gif

9 more days to move .....

Edit:
Tim told me that some of his friends have received the wedding invitations. He did them up so uniquely and they've commented on how much they liked reading that. I'll have to get him to email me the verse again and post it in case anyone missed it. (or you can look back many, many pages and find it...laughing.gif) It's seeming so real now that the invitation are in the mail and getting received!!

How long are Honeymoons usually? 2-3 weeks?
And we're probably going on a Hawaiian cruise for ours, do you think I'll be safe with that since it's still *Technically* in America?

Tim and I are going on a 2.5 - 3 week road trip after we get married. We're going to go up the Eastern side of the States. Virginia, up to D.C, Boston..lots of places. I'm bringing my laptop with me in case anyone around that area can maybe let us know some good places to see or eat or stay in! We're also getting married Sept. 19th, so I'm hoping to see some fall colours the further North we go happy.gif

I think you're good to go for Hawaii, Julybride and her husband went there. As long as you stay within US waters. Not sure where you read up on that, but just do a little research as to where K-1's can go to.

With the help of the wedding coordinator at the church, we found a pianist/organist who is not affiliated with the church. At first I was nervous that this woman's fees were going to be more than what the church is charging. In fact it was $25 cheaper.....go figure wink.gif

well to be fair Vancouver has to truck in snow.. :P, the Vancouver area doesn't really get a lot of snow anyways...

and the snow is coming from Canada :P

my dad says it costs 1000 dollars to haul a truck load full of snow...

 at least it's snow that says' "eh"

I know about Vancouver. I lived in the Comox Valley all my life, and I've seen major changes in the winter. There once was a time winter WAS winter! But I know it's been rather mild this year, compared to the last few. Can't say for all of the Island, but I know the Valley had basically no snow this year. I think there was a dusting or so in Dec. But it was a green Christmas.

I feel bad for Vancouver. I know they were looking forward to this for a long time. Back in 2003 ( I think it was then Vancouver got the ok) I worked in Overwaitea and had to wear a Vancouver Olympics t-shirt at work. Silly me...I threw it away after.....( it was kinda small, and I didn't have that much room)..
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-02-07 16:54:00

Unfortunately I think it has a lot to do with everyone afraid of getting sued. They really don't handle snow well here - which surprises me because we usually do get at least some every year. You would think they would figure it out eventually.

Those are some great pictures! Love the ones on the street. The snow is so white, and the sky so blue. Beautiful.

I haven't seen any snow here at all :( Tim says that IF it were to snow in this region of SC it would be this month, but probably not very much.

just talked to my dad seems like they could use some of that snow in Vancouver.. they are having to truck snow in for the Olympics..

wow, how ironic is that? Canada has to truck in snow

Peeples! Vancouver needs more snow! We're in jeopardy of not having enough for the snowboarding and freestyle skiing competition in the Olympics.

wow...after all that planning and everything. I was told by friends back home on the Island it was a record year for a mild winter. I hope some snow comes for those mountains!

My husband's 10-year green card was just approved! Holy #######; that was fast!

Yay!!! :)

I have news about our house! After the inspection last weekend we decided to ask the seller to do a few things. The big thing was fixing the plumbing in the bathroom, but we asked for a bunch of little things too. Our Realtor said it was worth asking, because you never know if they're going to do it. So we asked them to put gutters on the back of the house (there weren't any...), move the dryer vent, fix some paint chips in the back, fix a couple broken tiles in the bathroom, fix the bathroom taps (the hot is cold and the cold is hot), fix the outdoor outlets in the front of the house that don't seem to work, hookup the dishwasher (it was just sitting in the hole), clean and service the furnace and replace the vent on the roof. I figured we'd be lucky to get them two a couple of those things... but they came back to us today and agreed to do it all!! How lucky is that?! :D I feel pretty relieved we aren't going to move in and need to go to work on all these issues. Now we can move in and just fix the little cosmetic things we don't like when we want to do it.

That's great! Glad they were able to do all that. My sister had to do LOTS of work after she moved into her house. But I think she got it quite cheap.

Happy early birthday Joyce & Bern!

Well the drug & fit test went okay this morning.. Went to HR.... I start March 1st unless I hear from them otherwise! YaY!!.... Crappy pay, crappy hours, long commute, but it's a job & full time & working with troubled young adults! :)

I'm still waiting to hear about another job, the woman said I will receive a phone call either way on Friday... Day hours + much better pay, short commute + working with adults with SMI..

The suspense is killin me!!! Either way I get to savour these next few weeks of unemployment... It's going to be a complete 180 after not being able to be apart of working world since September of last year!

congratulations!!! I can appreciate the commute part. But maybe this other job will go in your favour.

I decided that the job I applied for wasn't going to be as suitable for me as I had hoped. Kinda too many hours crammed into the weekends. Ugh. Not good with still being just newly married, and living in a new country. I still haven't figured out a normal routine in my life yet...what ever normal is!! Oh well, there will be another one.

definitely 4 door and it has to be automatic...

do you think I could find a good car at a dealer for around 3000 bucks?

I don't know too much about cars and prices and good deals, but I hope you find exactly what you need at a fair deal. Krikit- 90% of the drug testing clients that came in were either pre-employment or continued employment guys who lived in SK but worked the oil rigs in northern Alberta. The most interesting one was a DNA sample for child custody... Collecting that was a little hairy!

Ok so I just had my first real "I miss home" moment.

My best friend had her baby on Thursday, beautiful baby girl. My friend's mom has been posting videos on facebook of little Laura every day since she was born.

Well it just hit me, that my friend is taking her kids to Sudbury next week and I won't be there to meet the baby and see my friend n stuff.

It's so unfair that I can't go back to Canada right now :(.

awwwww (((((((((((hugs)))))))) Peachy. I hate those "miss home" moments. For me they sneak up on me, and I become distant. Then I feel like I've made the wrong decision, and start resenting everything. Today for instance, back home, my sisters did the Walk for Memories for Alzheimers Awareness. ( We lost our mom in 2008 to it) I did the walk last year, but I really wished I was home this year with my sisters. Poor Tim. I'm sure he was wondering what he did. I haven't been very joyful for about a week, then it hit me today.

Yeeesh...can't wait for this part of the roller coaster of emotions to stop!
