We will also get certified copies of our marriage license from the probate judges office, three in total: one for the I-485, one for the AP and one for EAD

Just out of curiousity does the marriage cert. copy you send with the packet have to be certified? I didn't see it say specifically it needed to be certified in the instructions, in fact I read just include a copy and they define copy as

QUOTE
Copies. Unless specifically required that an original document be filed with an application or petition, an ordinary legible photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted when not required will remain a part of the record, even if the submission was not required

Has anyone just sent in normal copies? I guess I'm just being cheep and don't want to shell out the extra cash if its not required.

Good point. I just read that on the actual instructions on the I-485. I had read in the guides here about the certified copy of the marriage license. *Step #8* in the section under "guides" and for AOS. Guess that was in my mind. I think though, ( depending on State of course) I'd rather send in the one from the actual probate judges office, rather that just the one they gave us that says "bride/groom" at the bottom. Tim was pretty sure the copies weren't that much...

*Then again..he's been wrong before*.. laughing.gif

Almost ready to send everything in!! Finally!! There has been other things along the way that slowed us down, but I guess we're still doing ok as far as timeline goes. My I-94 expires Nov. 16th, and I wanted to be sure I had started AOS before that.

With the I-485 I will include:

Birth Cert: ( Mine and Tim's.)
Visa, and both sides of 1-94
Vaccination sheet, ( the one causing headaches) I also included the ones the doctor filled out at home as well as at the Medical.
G-325a ( four copies)
Copy of the NOA2 from the 129-F petition

I-864 and with that we will include:

Tim's yearly income, (he's on disability so he DOES NOT fill out nor pay taxes)
My T4A (P) showing my income for 2008 of my survivor's benefit. Can be used and added to yearly household income
Tim's IRA statements to show what he has in savings
Legal documents from the sale of my house to show what I sold it for
Bank statements from both our banks to show balance, and how much deposited, and the transactions I've made from my account to Tim's

*This is what I used and was approved for the visa. The sale of my house alone will keep us financially stable for a long time*

For both the AP and EAD petition I will include

copies of my Visa, and I-94 both front and back

Now, tomorrow we will get my passport pic's done, six in total: two to go with the I-485, two with the AP, and two with the EAD
We will also get certified copies of our marriage license from the probate judges office, three in total: one for the I-485, one for the AP and one for EAD

I also plan to write a cover letter explaining what is in the package, and why.

We will include a cheque for $1,010.00, unless a money order would be better to send.

*Whew*...should be ready to send it within a couple days to Chicago Lockbox and join the rest that are waiting replies...

Unfortunately only USCIS approved civil surgeons are authorized to fill out the form. You can find a list on their website for your state. Unfortunately finding a civil surgeon that is willing to transcribe your vaccinations without insisting you get a new medical is a big pain and can sometimes cost over $100. Some people get RFE's for not sending the I-693 and others do not. If you are transferred to CSC you have a decent chance on being approved without it, but if you end up with an interview they require you bring the I-693 to the interview with you. Personally, I would send the AOS in without the form and fill it out if you get an RFE or an interview. Why spend the money if you can get away without doing it? I didn't send one in but now that I have my interview in a few weeks I'm trying to get it done.

Ok, guess that's what I'll do then. Wish they could have said something back when I was at the interview!! ....

I'm a little confused here.. wacko.gif *doesn't take much to do that to me*..

What's a I-693? I'm getting a little nervous as I haven't seen one, or read that I need one.... blink.gif

It's for AOS, it's the transcription on a new document (the I-693) of the medical results and vaccination dates from your one-sheet form you had at your medical for K1

Might be confused so:
For the K1 you had a medical and they gave you a sheet that has all your vaccinations written on it.
This sheet needs to be re-written on the I-693
A civil surgeon will do it for about $100 and seal the envelop

I'd suggest you do it before sending your AOS package or if you did AOS already, you might have an RFE for it (or not) or if you have an interview, you'll need to bring it.

It's not a new medical its just re-writing the vaccination dates on the new form

Ok...I have the sheet, and of course the results to my medical were in the packet I had to turn over at the POE. No one said I had to transcribe it....where do you get the I-693? And what doctor are you supposed to use? Is there a list or do we have a choice, like Tim's doctor. I'm guessing that they understand what they need to do with the vaccination sheet. ...

Goodness but this marriage is sure costing a lot.... laughing.gif

Vancouver International Airport is in canada that isnt where you entered the USA. They mean where you POE into america for example JFK, LAX, mine was michigan at blue water bridge.

Actually if she activated her visa at pre-clearance, that is the right airport to put. It is whereever your visa was activated, and most Canadian international airports do preclearance now smile.gif

Last status is K-1 and the one in red should be your non immigrant number yes.

I will post all the things I took to my interview in August in the other thread smile.gif It's really not that bad, especially if you have it all ready to go smile.gif

Thanks for the reply! I only need to go back and fill those parts of the forms out, then Tim and I have to do the support one.

Did anyone use their own bank account information for the financial support? I want to show the sale of my house and how much is in MY bank and that I transfer to TIM'S account. I don't know if just printing it from the computer will be enough or if I should have my bank send it. It would take a while as we don't have a fax machine.

One more question...sorry!! On the AP application, what is my "class of admission"?

Ugh..sorry!! I should have read more questions and then asked them altogether.

What's the status that I last entered the US? K-1 visa fiancee?

My nonimmigrant visa number? The one in red?

And finally..the place of last entry. I went through Vancouver International Airport. Will that be ok to list that?

Thanks.. didn't realize they asked a few confusing questions! laughing.gif

Best wishes on your interviews everyone! Please let us (especially me..laughing.gif) know what you brought, besides wedding pictures... We were told yesterday, even for me to get a State I.D. we'd need proof of me living here at the house with Tim, so we're going to get my name put on the bills, the van, and maybe get a cell phone added to his account. He doesn't have a mortgage here, so I don't know how long it would take, or how complicated it would be to add my name to the house.

Oh and of course, his bank account. However, we need a State I.D. for that... *refer to first sentence*.. laughing.gif

I'm filling out the I 485 and have a very silly question. What's my current status with USCIS? K-1? pending? in limbo? I'm afraid the blonde brain can't figure out what it is....

Joyce, be sure to read each instruction per form, not just the guides... the instructions are on USCIS website. It will state exactly what you need to send in with each form. You do need to send in 2 passport pics per application, so 6 in total.

Ok thanks!! I'll have to go there to check it out then. Good thing we're not ready to send everything off then. All I've done so far is a saved copy of my G325 on my computer. Wow! blink.gif Where did you find the information for all that? I read the guides but it didn't say anything about passport pic' with the AP and EAD application, ( unless its' written on the forms itself ) or the USC birth certificates etc. And I've been reading about people needing another med. exam? I did read something about that, that unless asked, you don't need one if it's been done in the last year. Oh boy...I think we're in for some confusing times..

congats to the most recent approvals...Poprocks, Hapycloud, Star...and any others I may have missed. so 1st question (just to double check) .. do we have everything in our package or are we missing something ? (we have been through the check list 3 or 4 times already)

2nd question : for the I864, do we have to include the last 3 tax returns years or is the most recent year enough ?

And finally but not last .. Where do we send this package ? on the documentation. we have different addresses .. would it be the Chicago address or the Texas address ?

Thanks for your help smile.gif

The down side, is that what if only one person buys a plate from the collection you'd like! blink.gif Then I'd have to go out and get more anyways! Oh well, we'll wait and see what happens.

My fiance's sister rented a fake cake just for show, they didn't want any cake to eat. She even rented her wedding dress too. (Which is so weird to me).

The night of the wedding, the bridal room will be lit with dragon and phoenix candles to drive away the evil spirit. This is a Chinese version of unity candle. The only way I found out about the candle thing is through my parents' wedding album.
Otherwise, I had never heard of it.

My poor parents were forced to do certain things like the candle thing and the giving out of that weird fruit cake to everyone. They didn't even get to pick their wedding song! My grandfather DJ'd, so he picked it.
My poor parents, haha.

My parents gave me an interesting idea for a Cali wedding though.
Apparently if you book far enough in advanced, you can get married on the Queen Mary cruise ship. It's that ship permanently docked in... well, I don't remember where in Cali. They stayed on it and even saw bits and pieces of wedding related things... so that might be a neat idea.

laughing.gif nope no weird cake at mine!! Tim was describing to me that he's seen TWO cakes at wedding before. A brides cake, and a grooms cake. The brides is more elaborate... tongue.gif I might go with that because I'd love to have coconut icing, but some people could be allergic so now we can have two options. I'm sort of glad I havn't gotten around to any wedding planning yet.
I don't want to set a wedding date not knowing when in the world I'll get the visa, it's just scary.
Not to mention, I wanted an early summer wedding (for outdoor reasons), so I have to pick a later date than the K-1 timeframe.

We're being super untraditional.
The only thing we're really being traditional with is probably the actual wedding procession.
None of that candle lighting stuff though. (If that's even done anymore)

No reception, no wedding games, nothing like that.
We're just going to have a dinner at a restaurant (since the max wedding party is probably 30 people) and maybe if they'll let us just do our dancing at the restaurant.
My parents are fine with it all, except my dad insists on dancing with me on my wedding day. I dont know why really.
He's the kinda guy who sheds a tear to the "Father of The Bride" movie. tongue.gif

Because my fiance originally came from Taiwan, I might switch to a Chinese dress for dinner (They're so pretty). My parents seem to embrace the culture differences... and in all honesty, I'm surprised. They're not racist, but I've just never seen them personally deal with people of other races.

And I guess later we'll just have some backyard party for his co workers n stuff, since they're not invited to the wedding.

(I'm also making my own wedding cake, lols)

Sounds nice and simple!! No stress!! Yes, I believe unity candles are still done, but it's your wedding and you can choose what you'd like. I was married twice, and never heard of it before! Tim and I however are using sand instead of candles. It's deciding on the colour now. He thought black and white for contrast; I thought maybe red (for Canada) and dark blue (for the USA) or we may just go with the wedding colours, purple and lavender.

Ashen; It's so hard to plan a wedding when you don't live in the town you're getting married in! Take a deep breath and try not to let things bother you. You'll find the perfect dress, and in time! It will work out.

2) 300 IS a lot of people! wow! We're keeping out list cut to about 80, just because we want to mostly, and because some of our distance (as in actual 'distance', not distant relation) relatives won't make it I'm sure, and because we're poor.. lol but that sounds like a great party!

3) Speaking of which, we are too poor for a limo... I envy you guys! I want to see pics and live vicariously through your limousines! LOL

4) Joyce, that is a super cute topper! Where are you getting it from?

Tell me about it!! Yikes!! 300!! And wanna know the funny thing? 10 or less are from Canada!!! Hardly any of my family will be there. Tim has lots of friends and relatives! It's his first marriage, he's 50 years, and they ALL want to watch!!

I'll get back to you on the website. Tim saved it in his favourites, but I saved the topper cause I love it so much! I've looked through so many websites lately my head is spinning!!

blink.gif Oh...maybe it's not from the sites.... wacko.gif

Picked out our limo today! I went against my better judgement and got the stretch Hummer tongue.gif

Cool! I don't know the type we have. They look like normal stretch limo's but Tim friend is a funeral director, and county....something? (the one they call to confirm a death). He told Tim that he would donate a limo and driver for our wedding!! Other wise, we'd be using the van!! laughing.gif

This looks like the wedding topper we're going to use..

I was hoping for more of a "Hawaiian" look, but those are really expensive. I think this one will do nicely smile.gif

I would really like mine to be half up and half down curly, (I hate the way I look in an updo) but my hair is long and so stick straight I don't know if it will hold the curl for more than 1 hour. Whoever does my hair will need some seriously holding product. Seriously I have no need for a straightening iron, it straightens by itself!

Nice styles!! My hair is very long...(almost to my knees) and very thick..I'm really not sure what to do. I'll probably go with something half up/half down. Tim loves my hair down, so I'm hoping to have ringlets down the middle of my back, and everything else up somewhat...

I usually give hairdressers nightmares... wacko.gif

HAHAHA OMG... so my fiance went for a walk on the beach this afternoon, and what does he see? A wedding!!! Seriously! I asked him if he chatted with them at all to get some good info for us, but he said no. I was disappointed. We could've had some great tips, right from the source!! He said they walked by just as the bride said 'I do'... I told him that was rude tongue.gif hahaha

That happened to Tim on July 4th!! He was at Myrtle beach, on the pier, and said there was a wedding on the beach! I think he said he took pic's or possible video, but I haven't seen them yet...laughing.gif

Cute! I'm 10 inches shorter than my fiance, so the heels are a necessity laughing.gif

I'm about 2" or so taller than Tim!! Neither one of us mind, AND he loves it when I wear heels!! So I'd like to find some shoes with modest heels. Although if I find some nice flats that will be ok too. I'll be wearing a lavender dress. Not sure the best colour to go with that. My brides maids are wearing dark purple with silver shoes, the guys are all wearing gray suits...This will be an interesting search.. unsure.gif

hahaha it's ok TimandJoyce.. I knew what you meant, but still found it funny wink.gif lol I kinda hate the clanking forks for kissing... We're not having a regular sit down dinner type thing anyways, so I don't know if that would be possible!

And I have to say... those dollar dances would totally not work with loonies tongue.gif

Trust me. Your guests will find someway to make you two kiss!! blush.gif

Loonies and toonies...that would look interesting...... blink.gif

Course in Canada...that would mean you'd have to at least have a $5....hmmmm something to think about folks...LOL

I'd never heard of dollar dances either, but I LOVE the idea of dollar kisses!! laughing.gif Kinda prostitutey though, if you think about it.... blink.gif

laughing.gif sorry! I re-read what I wrote and made it sound like the person that donated money was the one that kissed the bride or groom!! My mistake. Only the bride and groom kiss each other!! Most receptions I've been to, during dinner you always hear someone start to tap on the glass/cup with a knife/spoon and everyone gets going. They keep it up until the bride and groom kiss, and then the racket stops! ( Until next time)..laughing.gif

This way, someone drops money in a box/ glass/ vase, etc, and they kiss.

Another way is the money tree. A bush that's sent around and everyone puts a dollar ( or hopefull more... whistling.gif ) into it. Just make sure it's not too dry, and doesn't go near the candles!! blink.gif

Ummm... dollar dances come to mind (both bride & groom vs. just bride) for example - mind you, we hadn't talked about it yet, but it came up at dinner. I wasn't opposed to having the dollar dance, but it is pretty typical to have one here in the US. The topic came up at dinner the other night (thanks, dad wacko.gif ) and my fiance' really wasn't sure he wanted to dance with "these strange women" he doesn't know. Mind you, he isn't crazy about meeting new people, but I think he's willing to forego the strangeness.

As for registries, there were things I wanted and things I registered for, b/c my mom said (and this is verbatim), "These are the things the people will buy you, so you can remember them when you use these." I thought she was nuts. But, guess what, sure enough... they bought the stupid things I didn't want and left alone the things I DID want. Argh!!! mad.gif

I wanted to return the things I didn't want (candlesticks, vases, etc.), to get the things I DID want (new plateware). But, my mom thought that would be rude. So, now I have this crystal stuff (mind you - its all really pretty) that probably won't get used and I'm missing the plates & china that I did want. Oh, well. Guess that's the problem with trying to bea modern bride in a traditional American world.

Good luck to all of you!

If you're not sure about the dollar dances, (and I can appreciate that) one wedding I went to had dollar kisses! ( no no..not with just whomever..laughing.gif) Rather than tapping glasses to see the bride and groom kiss at the reception, you had to donate! So there was a big glass goblet on the table and someone would walk up, put in a bit of money, and they kissed. ( Mind you, they didn't get to eat their meal much...laughing.gif)

I registered too. Didn't want to but that's what was expected of me. It will be interesting to see how that all pans out now... whistling.gif

I don't even know what we're doing for a rehearsal dinner yet! I just want it to be the wedding party and the parents, and I want something very simple and casual like BBQ. But we'll see if I win that battle.

On a side note I was just informed that 'someone' aka my soon-to-be MIL has been planning a 'secret' bridal shower for me, after I said I didn't want one! I mean, I'm going to try and be gracious about it, but I said no! And nobody wants to tell me where or when, so I'm really in the dark too. I know how you feel! Its frustrating.

I think we're planning a BBQ in the park before the rehearsal. Or as Tim would call it, a cookout! laughing.gif ( it will always be referred as BBQ to me!) Just something simple I believe.

I know what you mean about showers!! I didn't even want to do a bridal registry. To me, it was like saying "this is what I want, buy it!" I told Tim, we have a house full of everything we need, we don't need gifts. Well, that went over like a lead balloon!! laughing.gif So, it looks like I'll probably have shower sometime in August, and I registered, with Belks and another gift store back in April when I was there. Seems there's just too many people that love Tim and are excited about his upcoming marriage. (oh and for the record, they love me too!) As I'm one person against all those Southerners.....I think I'll admit defeat! luv.gif (That's meant in a good way!)

On another note... has anyone done the disposable camera thing? Where you put a camera on each table or something and allow guests to use them, then you gather the cameras at the end of the night and get them developed... I really want to do this, but am not sure the most economical way to get them 'developed'... we don't really want all the pictures on film and printed, so want to do digital disposables (which Kodak has apparently) so we can just upload them to our computers... I was also wanting to put a list at each table, of 10 specific things during the night that I want people to take pictures of... i.e. 'cake cutting' 'first dance' 'favourite flowers' 'favourite guest' 'favourite outfit' 'group shot of everyone at the table'.. etc. I just think it'd be awesome to have a collection of photos of the night from different view points. Often I think we don't end up seeing everyone else's photos from gatherings like this (though facebook certainly helps in that regard). Plus it'll give our photographer a break and allow her to focus on some creativity.

Ashenflowers!! What a great idea! I haven't heard about the digital throwaways, but even the other kind wouldn't be so bad. Depending on the tables, I'd just get one or two and let people go for it! Another great one, would be to let children take pictures. I used to work in a photo lab, and remember developing a camera that a young child had. The pictures where great! From a child's point of view. I'm going to ask Tim if he's heard of the ones Kodak does. Maybe just mix them a bit.

This is just an example of the wedding invitation Tim is thinking of doing. I love how he thinks outside the box!! Just like me!! star_smile.gif

She from the west coast
He from the east.
She from the north
He from the south.
She from Canada
He from the United States.
But God, in His devine providence, brought them together in a land of paradise.
The honor of your presence is requested as the most important page yet in the storybook relationship
of TIM XXXXX and JOYCE XXXX is turned on September 19, 2009
at three o'clock in the afternoon in the sanctuary of First United Pentecostal Church,
XX XXXXXXXXX Sumter, SC.

Reception will follow in the American Legion Building on XXXXXXX, Sumter, SC

Course we need to work on the wording just a tad..laughing.gif but it should be reading close to this. The invitation he found have a palm tree embossed on the front, to represent us meeting in Hawaii. (and living in SC)

I love it!! biggrin.gif

Thanks! I really love Tim's style. He doesn't want a "traditional" saying....
