Am I correct in thinking I read something earlier in this thread that said you didn't have to wait for the appointment, you could do a walk-in instead once receiving the notice?

I'm pretty sure you need to go at the appointed time. They'll have it written down to expect you. If you need to change it, then maybe you can call the office where the appointment is? Don't really know if that will work, but you can always try. :)

Another Canuck here awaiting interview for AOS

glad to see you aboard!! Hope everything goes good for you!

Got another touch today...

maybe they're bored???

Congrats!

So I keep getting touches on my I-485, but my EAD and AP remain unchanged. Wonder why that is.

Thanks! :)

The touches could mean anything, but you'll get your approval on the EAD and AP after your biometrics appointment

Yay!!! My welcome letter and GC came in today!!! Now if I could only remember how to change my status to *approved*...

yay...found it !!!! * I'm so silly...*....

Anyone have any suggestions where I can get passport photos?
We were going to get them done at Costco, but we couldn't before my husband's mom left, she's the one with the membership...

do you have Walgreens near you. That's were I went, very quick. Or you could do Walmart? I did my first ones in Canada there. Just about any place that does photos will do passports I believe.

nope, won't be any mail today... :( I'm waiting for my letter to say my GC was ordered....I think I should get that soon, then not long after that hopefully the card!! So frustrating as I can't get my DL without it.....grrrrrr

However, I have another interview coming up so hopefully I get the job and have $$$. For some reason I haven't got an EI deposit yet..
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-02-15 13:04:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

Yep! That would be right. Just count 90 days backwards from the expiry date on your GC. The IO at my interview said just to make sure you file sometime in the 90 days before it expires, but no earlier as they can reject it for being to early. And definitely make sure you file before it expires, then you're out of status, and we've all heard some fun stories about being stuck in that situation!

Thanks Huggles. I just need to know all those step by step rules, you know? Once I get it..then I get it...and occasionally somethings are easy enough to figure out. But when dealing with all this, I want to make sure I know where to cross the T's and dot the I's

Oh yeah, it will all be mailed in time!! I'll probably have post it notes all over to remind me when I could send it off, which means long before that 90 days starts, I hope to have everything together. I don't ever want an out of status thing. ( Unless it's THEIR fault...er....I mean....doing....).....did I say that?

That's great about your name being correct, Tina&Roland. Be so frustrating to have to contact them and all.

Rhianne, good that you're almost ready. It's such a good feeling knowing your get it in before the I-94 expires. And I only sent copies too. I went to the courthouse to get ONE certified copy, ($5) and made copies for my AOS, AP, and EAD. Guess they liked it....
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-02-11 20:51:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

Awesome Joyce!! Congrats! :D

You can file exactly 90 days before your conditional GC expires. They expect you to do the math on your own, unfortunately. I counted backwards from my expiration date and wrote it in my signature so I wouldn't forget! My brain is done with all of this for a couple years, absolutely, I know how you feel!

So if my GC was approved Feb 9, 2010, then it's good till Feb 8, 2012, but 90 days backwards from that is sometime in the middle of Nov. 2011. So that's when we could mail of ROC? I'll make sure of the actual date once I get my GC.

Add us to the list!!!

Our Green Card was approved on February 9th and the card production was ordered today!

Feels good to finally be done (for awhile)! :joy:

Good luck to all those still waiting. Hopefully yours will be just as fast.

Congratulations!! Same day as me!! I had the first email on the 9th, later that night had the one of the 'welcome letter" sent; then on the 10th another email of the card production ordered. I sure hope that means I'll get it soon! I know it says 30 days, but I'm hoping they'll be nice to me...

Finally sealed the envelope on our package. Will mail it out tomorrow.

Not looking forward to the hit of that cheque being cashed, but super excited at being one step closer to being done for awhile.

Here's to a speedy with NO issues AOS!! I'm sure you'll be doing the dance soon too!! Really seems to move fast. I'm rather surprised!

No more USCIS for a while!

Thanks!! Between K-1 and AOS, it all took about a year! Not bad. Could have taken less time had we got married right away, or if I moved sooner. I sure hope my notice tells me when to start ROC cause my brain is just not going to figure out that date!!

WOO CONGRATS :)

I think you have to go by your appointment time. I suppose you could try to contact the office and see if it's possible to move you up. It could all be depending on their hours though, and if they have other things to do in the mornings.

Like Vancouver interviews are always, ( as far as I know) at 1:00 pm.

The biometrics letter arrived today! Feb. 22 interview!

Cool. You might find your EAD and AP approved not long after that. The EAD card comes with your thumb print on it! I was wondering why I had to bring my NOA for my EAD to the appointment. Course, the guy didn't even look at that!

Oh, and bring your marriage certificate too. I don't know if anyone else did, but I thought of it the last minute and I'm glad I did, because they asked for it here.
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-02-05 09:17:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

One question. Did anyone get an RFE for sending just the form they gave you from the medical? I sent mine in with just that, but I'm trying to figure out what the odds are that I might get an RFE for it. I'm not missing any shots. I'm just all concerned now that they will send me an RFE for it.

And Peachy, I'm proud to be your AOS buddy!

That's a real hard call. I've seen a lot of people get RFE's for them. For some reason I haven't, and all I sent was what they gave me at the medical too. I'm really hoping that now it's transferred I won't get an RFE for it..

I think they are stricter with the I-693. I think you still have to get a CS transcribe your vaccination, and then send that with your application. I got an RFE for the medical even though I sent the I-693. I still dont know why but I think its cause they missed it in the package.

I got my AP yesterday! No message alert or change of message status on my USCIS file, but its here! Its just a piece of paper with a big picture of my face (horrible pic too!) and I got two of them...

And my EAD has been sent! Yay!

Yay!! Congratulations!! You can leave the country now if you want. And start looking for a job!

whhhooopps!! I don't mean leave the country AND THEN start looking for a job!! I think you'll probably want to work where you live...

 *She just noticed you were IN CA!!!* ummmm that's right..those gorgeous wedding photos. The one with the building in the background reminded me of Santa Barbara.

The position I was offered was in the behavioral health field working with youth. The position I am still waiting to hear at the end of next week is also behavioral health but with adults.

Oh my gosh. That sounds so interesting!! I really wish I was young (er)..lol...again. I would definitely go back to school. Well, I'm still considering taking a medical transcriber course so I can work at home

Whhhoooo Danu!! This process doesn't seem near as long as K-1. At least for getting emails and such. We'll be crossing our fingers it goes smooth and quick, and gets transferred to CSC for you!! :)

Woohoo! Can they still deny the GC at CSC? Or can I still get an RFE? Anyway that would suck hahahaha.

Well, I suppose there may still be the chance for RFE's but from what I've read, most cases that get transferred DO get approved. We just got to hang in there and be patient.

My RFE came before it was transferred, so I'm guessing "whoever" did the transferring thought the case looked in order. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Im really happy and nervous at the same time!

That's a good sign!! You won't need an interview, which is nice to have that break. No scurrying around to "prove" anything.

Oh and..... I got a job offer!!!

Maybe not. I got a touch the day after my hard copies came in the mail. I wish they would email you whenever they pick up the case, even if it's to say " We're blowing the dust off now..."

Awesome Darkchilde. I hope you get a job soon! Make sure to fax it to EI as soon as it comes in. It's plastic card with your picture on it, and I scanned mine and emailed it to Donna, from the out of country EI claims. You can start putting resumes, and applications out there.

Now if only I could get a job offer! :crying:

Awww I hope you do too. I was told today that Bath and Body Works here in the mall will be doing interviewing next week, so I'm getting an application in there for sure tomorrow. I've inquired around a few places, but nothing yet. I'm not surprised as it's January, and a slow time. Things should pick up in the spring. ( Hopefully around the time I get my GC so I can get my state license, and Tim won't have to drive me everywhere! )

Well, the I-94 I had had the top part which the border officer kept and the bottom part which I got.
Maybe I filled in it because he wanted to process me quickly.
Who knows.
Thanks for the answers.

I filled mine out too, at Vancouver International. Not sure if I was supposed to or not, the fellow helping me usually worked somewhere else, and he said Vancouver did things differently!
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-01-16 13:11:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

I just thought of a question to ask.
On the AOS paperwork, it asks you to put down your name as it appears on the I-94.
Is this the part you kept yourself or the part you filled out at the border?
Because the part that got stapled into my passport does not have my middle name on it, the part I filled out for the officer does.

Should I include my middle name or not?

hmmm can't remember that question. I probably put my full name regardless, just so that it will match up with all the other paper work they have.

My AP came in today!! Course, now I want to use it.. I really don't have plans to go back to Canada until my son gets married in Oct. but I'm just glad that I have it in case there is an emergency. It may still be a couple months before I see my GC ( I'm assuming )

I have two copies.. is that so I keep on and give one to CBP?

Ok, so I came back from my civil surgeon today and had to get another tetanus shot. Supposedly, USCIS requires 3 shots of tetanus. After that, you are required to have one every 10 years. I almost had a fit! Of course, perhaps this doctor has seen people come back to him because USCIS sent RFE's regarding inadequate vaccines. Anyway, needless to say, I did get another one for $25 and go bot the signoff for $50. The paperwork for AOS/EAD/AP is done and ready to be mailed off tomorrow! YAY! :)

Great news!! I guess in a situation like this, just do what you need to and get the files in the mail! You'll hear something back soon. I did, and it was all good!

CanadaAOS'rs...

Hmm I thought if your case was transferred, it was already at the last stages of things (ie. towards GC production)? I hope you dont get anymore RFEs TimandJoyce, and get your GC soon.

That's what I'm hoping for too. Once the case was transferred, I got the approval on EAD and AP, and I know that during my RFE stage, everything was put on hold until after. I so want to be done for a couple years!
TimandJoyceFemaleCanada2010-01-14 14:30:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

I don't think I'm going to get my vaccines transcribed. I'm going to try it with the photocopy of the one from the Canadian medical.
I believe some people have AOSed without needing them transcribed.

Well so far so good for me. My RFE was for financial, and after we submitted it back, the case was transferred to CSC. I don't know however, if CSC may RFE me for the transcription or will just let it go and approve it.

Guess I'll find out. I'm thinking that if I was to get an RFE for it, I would have along with what we already did get, wouldn't I have??

Oh how I'll cry if CSC sends an RFE... :crying:

I'm sure you'll hear everything within the next month. I got notice on Christmas they received my RFE back, and today got notice that my case is transferred AND my EAD and AP are approved!!

Hang in there Darkchilde...it's coming!! :star:

lol Well Joyce I've never worked in a restaurant or fast food chain in my life but at this point it appears to be an immigrants right of passage.Because no one is hiring. I have applied to 26 places thusfar (keep a list lol), and I have yet to receive a single phone call. I've got a clean record, have management experience, worked in tourism and retail lol and bupkis. So at this point Mc Donalds doesn't seem all that bad :( lol but yeah our town has like four Tim's around

YES       I got approved today for BOTH AP and EAD!!!! WHOOOOOPosted Image Not exactly sure as to when I should start looking for work, as the cards were just mailed today, and I'll probably get them within, ( I hope ) a week. At the very least should be able to start my claim soon too!! So I guess I'll soon be seeing what the job rate is really like..

Congrats beans!! :)

My backup plan is Starbucks. I worked at Tim Hortons for 3 years, so they probably won't know the difference and think I have some quality coffee experience :P

Free chicken nuggets can't be all bad ;)

I've no coffee ( other than drinking it lol) or fast food experience!! Mine is in retail...so I'll try Belk, J.C. Penney, among some other places. There's a couple of restaurants here too I'd work at, but I really don't want to be a waitress again... :dead:

lol I don't know if I could work at Starbucks, I mean I LOVEEEEE Starbucks but could you imagine working with those baristas all day? My second backup is Tim's though. I'll walk in be like "I'm a Canadian, I KNOW Tim Horton's..you should hire me"

You have a Timmy's near ya?? I'm so jealous...been craving a double double forever!! It's one of the first things I'm going to go get when I get back to BC!! LOL

That and Timbits...and I'll eat a couple for Charles...lol

Case Transferred to CSC

Ok..I'm just a little excited. Might mean longer wait, etc, and still no news on my EAD or AP, ( course the AP is only for family emergencies, and I suppose, worse case scenario, I could get an info pass) but the EAD would surely be nice!! Oh well..I'm sure it's soon..

*singing* I got transferred, I got transferred!!!... :D :jest:

Card production ordered woot woot. Now if only I could get a job interview. I told myself if I don't get a call by January 21st ish I'm applying at Mc Donalds..I mean how bad could it be :|

Great news on the card...

CanadaAOS'rs...

We never got an email or an update online for the interview. To give you an idea of the timeline, we filed oct 1st, had biometrics 10/29, received card production order update 11/20, received card about a week later and the interview notice came about 11/30, scheduled for jan 6th. But i have had very little updates on my cases online from them, it didn't even say i had a touch from oct 7th till dec 31 for i-130 and i-485.

We have had the same problems, needing state ID, even with the mililtary dependant ID. Hopefully it'll be over smooth and quick for all of us!

Best wishes for your interview today... I'm sure everything will go well for you.

Done with USCIS for 2 years!!!

GC finally arrived in the mail today!!

:joy:  :joy:

so happy for you Minnew!! I'm sure mine is coming...slowly..

Good news...I guess.

Our case has been transferred to California. Which I take to mean that they have decided we don't need an interview (even though they clearly say that they may still ask for one).

Does anyone know what type of wait we should expect at this point? If I interpret the timelines correctly, I'm thinking early March but that's assuming I know what I'm doing and looking in the right place!

Does a transfer to California pretty much mean an eventual approval just by the nature of being transferred, or should we still be prepared for an interview etc...down the line?

Thanks for all the congratulations on the EAD and AP. It feels so good to have that part of the process nearly done!

Good news on the transfer!!

TimandJoyce just wanted to let you know, we have the charleston SC local office too and don't be surprised if you get things in the mail without an update online. We have our appointment notice for AOS and they have yet to update that online but have 'touched' it since than, interview in 2 days!

Wow!! :o You got your letter to say interview in 2 days, or you just didn't get an email to say one was scheduled? How long did you get the letter to the interview date? I'm suspecting we'll end up with an interview too. Tim's been trying to get my name on his bills, and who ever he talks with STILL has no idea and his bills don't have mine on it! I don't know about you, but I can't even get my name on his account without a State ID, and I can't get one of those without proving domicle!!Posted Image Oh well, we'll get there yet.

Best wishes for your interview, hope you post a review.
